    Randy liked the 2 volumes so he could use the pickup selector as a stutter switch. Used to do that on his Les Pauls too, which is why he had Jackson set it up that way when they designed the first Concorde. And his further refinement of the offset V only needed one tone, but still had two volumes. Keeping in mind, this is pre-killswitch.

    Played one the other day. For $800, it's actually really good. The pickups are very hot, but I managed. It's much heavier than I was expecting. It's heavier than my Les Paul is. But that's fine. I abused the floyd but it held tune, extremely rare for a special. My only complaints with the guitar is the blade switch. I hate blade switches, and the 2nd volume knob. I was hitting one of the knobs a few times. Other than that, I recommend

    Pros: Seymour Duncan pickups, Shape, colour, compound radio fretboard, headstock, jack placement.
    Cons:
    Floyd Rose Special, those don't last (Should be a 1000, 1500 or Gotoh).
    Pickup rings (Direct Mount Pickups always look better in my opinion)
    That third pot used for volume is too close to the where you pick.
    Frets aren't stainless steel.

    I always liked Blackouts more than Emg 81's, has more low end chunk that the Emg's seem to purposely remove to keep it more mid focused. Haven't had any issues at stage volume although I do have a gate in front AND behind the amp to make it super quiet. Love the RRX24's, had my eye on the green and pink one for a while but ended up with an arrow 1000 instead.

    I have a 1998 Randy Rhoads RR3 MIJ I bought 20 years ago, which has an Alder body with satin chrome hardware. The great thing about two volume knobs is that you can blend in a bit of the neck pickup. It's good to see they brought a good design back from the dead.

  • @JarredFish-tz1rt
    @JarredFish-tz1rt 7 месяцев назад +1

    This is an excellent version of the Rhoads. I bought this guitar specifically considering the weight of the guitar and easy hot rod mods. This guitar shreds. It's built well. And easy guitar to modify just pop the parts on switch pickups or whatever. The tuners work well I appreciate the accuracy when changing strings. A solid foundation to build a light weight hot rod that rips hard. I pair it with the Peavy invective mini head with the 2x12 cabinet. The thing rips hard. And I don't get tired standing with it as I usually stand no matter what guitar I play so the weight is noticeable and I really appreciate the light weight.

    Im a huge fan of the Blackouts, personally. I think they're underrated. I just love how much punch they have, and the notes seem to "pop" especially for lead. Tons of sustain, and a nice warm, but tight lower midrange. I saw trivium play, and thier lead guitarist has them in his guitar, and i could hear him cut through the mix SO well, wheras i couldnt hear mat at all, and he was using fishmans.
    Every band ive heard use blackouts live, i can always tell. Maybe my ears are just tuned to that frequency, but idk, just love them. Great video man! If my house burns to the ground, and id have to start over, id totally grab this jackson!

    • @JokerCat9

    I've been trying to focus more on "if it sounds and plays good, then it's good", but as a huge guitar nerd I find the specs really interesting.
    You got "lower end" woods like poplar and laurel, but you also have it in a neck through configuration with a compound radius and genuine Blackouts. Compared to other guitars in this price range it feels like they could've made this a bit cheaper to compete, but it's Jackson and current guitar economics exist. Great vid, keep up the amazing work!

    • @TYLERtheMAGGOT1
      @TYLERtheMAGGOT1 Год назад

      I have no issues with the wood playing this guitar. Doesn't feel like it's low end at all. I love Laurel Fretboards. This guitar was actually around 729.99 back in 2020 but went up in price just like every other guitar company did. Fender, Gibson, ESP, Kiesels, Solar, etc all raised their prices. For the price I thought this guitar is right so I disagree there. Especially when you compare it to the LTD brand who sells their guitars more than what Jackson has this it. Same with Solar who has worse QC than jackson does

    Poplar is not popular, but it is cheaper and it makes the guitar a little lighter. As far as tone, I have no issues with my Jacksons.
    Basswood, Poplar or Mahogany or Maple or Alder... it really doesn't matter to me as long as I have the right combination of pickups, amp, and effects. I'm surprised to get as good of a sound as I do given my budget. I have 13 guitars, several amp modelers and pedals and amplifiers. Different combos to work with and each with their own distinctive sound. It's fun.
    As for that RR24X you're playing, it really doesn't sound that much different that any other RR V I've heard with active pickups. It looks cool but that's it. I myself don't care for active pickup. They sound unnatural to me. I used to have EMGs in an old guitar. Swapped em out for DiMarzios that sounded way better for what I was doing at the time.

    No don't make more RRX24s. That Poplar material is horrible and these are extremely delicate. Amazing design, very questionable build materials. I bought two of them and one of them chipped slightly in the official gigbag after handling with consideration of the guitar. Then I upgraded to official Jackson hardshell case and it broke even more in the hardshell case this time with the entire end of the large fin. Also dont get the old v shaped version of the Rhoads/King V case, get the new one that is more sleek and I think it costs mine way more. I still have one of these guitars in a hardcase in red with upgraded Floyd Rose OG and I am scared to even play it, it just stays in the case. I hope Jackson upgrades the wood because poplar is not sufficient for this shape due to the thinness of the points. This has also been an issue on their Rhoads/King V models for like 40+ years now?????

    I hate that Jackson has zero options for lefties except the absolute bottom of the barrel Rhoads for $300. Pisses me off honestly.

    I only play early 2000's Japanese Jacksons when they made solid well built guitars

    I love Jackson but that Floyd Special is garbage

    I just wish we could get more without a reversed headstock. I love my RR24Q. Would love it more with a non-reversed headstock. Poop-lar? Too bad 😞

    Reverse headstocks look so wrong on Rhoads shapes, to me at least. It breaks the 'flow' of the shape.
