If you only want one g-shock in your collection, one can make a good case for the GW-5000U. It also has a strap that's a bit more comfortable than the GW-M5610U's. I got mine in a sale for CAD$300, and I can't see myself ever selling it.
Oh totally... the GW-5000U will never be sold. It's for life. Going to pass it down to my grandkids if the earth is still alive till then.
You are absolutely right about the softer resin strap that's so much more comfortable. In fact, that is one of the talking points of the review that I am doing next week. Would love to have your inputs post that because you own one yourself 😃

You are right. The 5000 is the King and the only one that matters if you can have only one. It is great in every way.

I love mine too ! I added the Gen 2 G-Shock Combi Bracelet and added bull bars, it is watch perfection ! You really do not need any other watch.

Great watch, my daily beater one, I have the full metal g-shock GMW-B5000D-1ER, but this one is more confortable, and don't scratches the same way. I like the very soft resin band. I don't sell this one for sure.
Same..I have both of those but I always prefer the 5000u for daiky wear. I choose the Gmw-B5000 only for special occasions

Great watch! I have the older GW 5000, not the 'U'. The atomic receiver struggles to update compared to my other 5610 models. I think the heavy stainless steel build can restrict the radio signal. I live in the UK.

Your GW 5000 has better light than the U version. I guess Casio did that to conserve battery. I am yet to own the 5610 but you are right. It could be the stainless steel that makes it difficult to receive the signal. I am in India and I have to do it manually through an app.

Hi Sir, you had suggested me a g shock gd350, but I did not like as my main point to buy was to have large numbers to be displayed. Just like the GBD 200 series.. but these are expensive.

I’m using an iOS device and I downloaded the app Clock Wave and that’s where I manually sync my watch. I’m also living in a region where it can’t receive the signal from the tower and this app fix that issue. I can sync my app anytime I want, though it’s not automatic, it’s better to have this option than none.

I bought the same watch using the same link you have posted. Not sure what UKCA mean written on the back of the watch. I also have one GW5000U-1ER, that says the same thing. How do we identify the difference between 1JF and 1ER?
Earlier, this watch was only meant for Japan but eventually released for Europe too. The early ones didn't have the UKCA but now even the Japan releases do too. It's got nothing to do with the location but regulations
the solar models still uses a battery , which is made by only one company ( Panasonic ) , is expensive and difficult to find . also atomic sync doesn't work in India , so no use for me . I opted for the white dw-5600mw-7dr ( module 3229 ) on October ( Rs 4479 on flipkart ) , which uses the cheap and plentiful CR2016 battery , and the simple back-plate is easier to remove for DIY battery change . I also felt that the display is a wee bit clearer on non-solar models . anyway congratulations for your exciting new timer 😇
Yes, they do. The rechargeable batteries maybe hard to find in India but you find them elsewhere. Moreover, you don't have to worry about the rechargeable battery in a tough solar watch for 15-20 years if it's well taken care of..
As for the Atomic time, we can manually sync it using an app. I did it a week ago...today when I checked it still has kept very close with the Atomic time. You may have to spend 3 min every 2 weeks or every month to re-do the sync progress which I find quite exhilarating.

Another reason I got this was because of the stainless steel core. I wouldn't want a broken lug or an loose lug hole because of overuse rendering the watch useless. It's good as long as you take good care of it.
There is also a very nice GW-M5610MW-7JF. I' ve collected most positive GW-M5610's.

@@TickTockTreasures I know, but it looks so good. I do have spare parts... Did you know that the BGD-5000 is a smaller GW-M5610? I have a set in MD-9.

This is a great watch which would be improved with a combi band. For generating a time sync signal a phone app or a raspberry pi program can do the job.

My Casio royal (ae1200) got some minimal scratches on its glass is there any possibility to change its glass into sapphire crystal ? I saw some mods kit converting in to titanium case but I think it’s not available India
You can buff off the minor scratches. I have made a short video with MRW-200H. Check it out.
If you want the crystal changed then check with @modkeeping on Instagram. They are based in Pune.

Oh yes! The soft resin on this one feels so good on the skin compared to the hard resin bands of the 5600 and 5610s and the likes. I have ordered a combi bracelet for this just to see how it looks and feels

I seriously think Casio needs to include the screw down caseback in all the G-lide line. Those are watches meant for surfing or other sports that need a strong waterproof rating
That's an idea! Do you think the plate with screws don't do as well a job? If Casio did what you are suggesting then Casio fans would want it on all G shock models 🤪
I own 65 Watches, i own one Rolex and omega seamaster too… but i love my 5000u and my 5040 , also my japanese 6900 firefox.
That's awesome. I have heard 2 others who have Rolexes and Seamasters that love their G-Shocks especially the all-metal ones. There's so much to love about them. I am yet to pick up a 6900. Do you think I should get the regular one or spend extra and get the Japanese one?

Brilliant watch but the 5610u remains a better looking gshock in my opinion and still gives you everything you need and currently only £79 here in the UK
I have my eyes on the 5610U. That one has kind of a cult following. On my priority list of reasons to buy a watch, aesthetics is after features and durability. I picked up the 5000U for its stainless steel core (and hence lugs). But definitely picking up the 5610U. Thank you for the recommendation and your comment. I appreciate it 🙏
@@TickTockTreasures Your approach in judging durability is too simplified and wrong. The plastic lugs, in theory, are less durable than the steel lugs. However, when treated carefully they shouldn't break, but what is going to rot and break eventually is the resin band. The 5610 has urethan strap while the 5000 has a softer strap which is a mix from silicone and urethan or contains softeners, which will make it break faster. I also saw a comment below another video where someone claimed that his 5000 strap broke eariler than his 5610 strap, which proves the theory. The 5610 is the more durable watch, as the strap replacement intervalls are longer.
@heinodersanger9809 I understand. But my review is based on some of the ebay posts I have seen of 3-5 year old G shocks with broken lugs being sold for parts. Don't get me wrong- I love the 5610U and I intend to buy it in the coming week. I was just sharing my opinion.

Whats the meaning of atomic time? There are some towers and the watch automatically connects to that signals and adjust the time without even changing?

A watch that has Multiband tech has the capability to receive time being broadcasted via radio waved by stations located at 6 different locations in the world. This is atomic time and is always accurate.
We aren't in the range of these station's signals. We can use the app to manually sync the watches to AtomiC time

I think you have to input the time manually if you don't get a signal, my friend. I'm from Scotland and i managed to acquire this watch through Amazon. It is more expensive than other squares, but well worth the cost. A great watch, and probably one of the watches in my collection I would never sell. Nice review, and views on what is as possibly the perfect watch!
I feel bad to have acquired the MB6 watch and nor have the option work especially after spending more than I would on GW M5610. I used the Radio Watch Sync app to receive the Shangqui City (BPC) signal via phone

I own the 500u, a crappy watch, no vibrations. I was aware of it but i could not get used with this. I wear it very rare, i use mostly a Garmin Fenix6X Pro. Not a good watch, either, to be fair.
Well, there is no comparison- one is a sturdy, non-smart watch that is starting to have a cult following because of its a Reborn series modeled after the first G, DW-5000C of 1983. And the other is a modern day smart watch that needs to be handled with care.
I personally love the 5000U because it has heft and that adds to its premium nature. We all have our own likes and dislikes.
Have you checked out the GW-5610? Maybe that's more to your liking?
My GW-5000U-1JF came in the same display box as yours, whilst GWM-B5000PB-6 (violet) and GWM-B5000RD-4 (burgundy) both came in the steel tins. Not quite as presentable, unfortunately. It's most likely because the violet and burgundy watches were for sold internationally. Had I got JF versions, I would have had the display box.
You are absolutely right- the case depends on which market the watch is meant for. The JDM watches have the best boxes and packaging.
@@TickTockTreasures Here's one thing for anyone on here wanting a GW-5000U, they MUST look carefully for the "U" for update model, not just a GW-5000. Someone could end up purchasing the older model by mistake. I know, because I nearly did that myself.
As far as time keeping, you should be able to pick up the time synch broadcasts in India. I live in Australia and someone is able to pick up the Japanese station from Melbourne.

I apologize for that. It was my first time. I am learning as I go. Now I have better equipment and the workdesk is set up for better videos.
Also, part of the reason is that I wasn't conscious of the watch shakes because I was excited to hold it for the first time haha.

Absolutely the BEST G-shock, might be ....missing only one function - bluetooth
A Bluetooth and better viewing angle would have made this the holy grail of G-shock watches
The full metal g-shock GMW-B5000D-1ER is bluetooth enabled with a very good STN lcd display.
This watch has Module No. 3495. G-Shock doesn't sell any watch in India with this module
Watches with Module No. 3461 are sold in India
Is there any improvement in 3495 over 3461? Only difference I found is 3461 has bluetooth while 3495 doesn't
According to what I researched the difference between the two is that 3495 had lesser options for World Time compared to the 3461.
3495 has Multiband whereas as you pointed out 3461 has Bluetooth for accurate time-keeping. The disadvantage of the latter is that the time on the watch is dependent on the time on your phone which can be set accurately if you have an Atomic Clock app on your phone that sets the phone time daily.
I will be exploring the Bluetooth time setup since I got one yesterday
