I'm a little disappointed in Emily.... I've been looking on the Summit website searching part numbers 2X8, 2X10 and orange bucket, but need the link Emily! I always look forward to your videos. Your videos have helped me with my swap. Thank you. Keep the videos coming :)

Assym gloo works great but Vaseline have been used in assemblies for decades. It dissipates in any fluid and helps in assembly. Seal glide from Napa is a variant of Vaseline.
Thanks for a great video. Been awhile since I’ve been in a 4l60e. Didn’t remember the output shaft like that. But I was rebuilding and reinstalling as is. Can’t wait for the 4l80e video 👍
Always wondered about your missing ceiling. I can only imagine how much quieter it would be in there and warmer in the winter. BRRRRR! Knowledgeable as usual.👍
Great video as usual! I loved it and I’m glad Jerry got the tool for the snapping so we can keep it family friendly Great job Emily, you must have great eyesight to have seen where that spring went lol 🤣👍💯
It's really not too hard to make the swap! And it looks like there are a ton of output shafts and tail housings on Ebay pretty cheap. If you give it a shot, let us know how it goes! Thanks for tuning in, Juan!
@@UglyTruckExperience I've done this a lot of times.I always check pump, band, and 3-4 clutches for wear. Update 2nd and 3-4 servos while I'm in there. Also update forward sprag, helps these transmissions a lot. Shift kit doesn't hurt anything either.
Wow that’s more work than I was thinking but it seems doable… I already purchased and 4L60 that’s 2wd but I may hang on to the donor 4wd since I watched this video and give it a shot . Thanks guys.
It's really not too bad, especially with Jerry's special tool! Only $144.95! 😆 Plus, I was looking at 2wd output shafts and tail housings on Ebay earlier, and they're pretty cheap... around $100 including the seals. If you give it a shot, let us know how it goes!
@@UglyTruckExperience sweet, i do like that tool btw . I thought it was clever. Oh and for that price does it come with the specialty bucket? I’ll definitely let y’all know how it works out for me or if I end up scrapping the whole thing lol.
Great video guys! If I had of known about swapping out the shaft from 4x4 to 2wd , I would have kept the donor transmission. It only had 48k miles on it.
@@UglyTruckExperience All good in Texas! We're in cotton planting season right now and sure could use some of that rain down here lol! Stay safe my friends! Holler if you need anything from me.
We'd love to, but that stuff is pricey! We have a 3rd section of the shop that needs to be finished, and we'll turn that into our 'studio'. 😁 Thanks for tuning in, Randy!
Good afternoon yall. Thanks for the information yall shared. I’m in the process of rebuilding my 45rfe, it’s currently a 4wd but I want it to be a 2wd. Besides the tail piece, does the tcm or any sensors need to be modified in order for it to work? Thank yall so much
Hello Timothy. I am not a expert on the 45rfe transmission by any means but most makes of transmissions that I work on wouldn't require any major changes. You would just need to make sure you have a speed signal I would think. If you end up finding anything weird with it, please let us know. Thanks for your question. Jerry
Thanks for the video! If I use a 4x4 engine, ecu, fuse box and harness but use a regular 4L60E does the computer need different programming then normal to make the 4x4 stuff work with the 4L60E?
After watching this, I've got a whole lot better understanding of how a 4L60E is put together, particularly that 2-4 band dowel. Every other disassembly video I've seen, the band comes out after the valve body comes off, and there are only a couple of assembly videos out there. That said, any major transmission work, I'm paying someone to do it.
The valve body is a ton of work, so if you have the patience to fiddle with that dowel, you can save a lot of time and headache. This is probably the video transmission guys don't want you to see! 😆 Thanks for tuning in, Rick!
Hello Payton. Yes, you will need a longer driveshaft. If you are swapping into a short box truck it makes it a little easier to find a shaft from another model to shorten, but in most cases we end up having to have one made for the swap. Jerry
Thanks David! I think you sent us an email... We're behind on messages, but will get back with you soon! We appreciate you tuning in! --Emily and Jerry
Wouldn't you also have to switch the hole plug at the tail section if swapping? The 2wd needs the one with the weep hole to allow fluid in the channel of the tail section back to the bushing and the 4wd has a solid plug.
So if a guy was ls swapping an old car or truck ,as long as he had a good assortment of tools and a clean bench it doesn't look all that difficult to replace a few worn parts. Maybe ill look for a donor.
It's not as hard as a lot of folks make it out to be, especially if you can avoid pulling the valve body. There are still some good deals on donors out there! Hope you find one! Thanks for tuning in, Brian!
@UglyTruckExperience That's awesome guys!!! I just got my block assembled. Got to order new valves for the heads. I'll be depinning the wiring harness I pulled out of a 09' Yukon for my swap. I just haven't decided whether to go with wire loom or the braided wire covering I keep seeing to finish wrapping it when I get done. Thank you for asking. I appreciate it.

Hello Rod. It doesn't change anything with the computer. The only difference is getting the speed sensor signal from the transfer case is all. Jerry
In your case it should just be a matter of plugging it in on the 4l60e if your going to a 2wd. You shouldn't even have to mess with the wiring.
@@UglyTruckExperience Thanks. Will do

Do you have to install a Plug or remove aPlug in the back of the Transmission I Thought That also had to be done ?
Hello Ken. Not on a 4L60e. You do have to on the 4l80 and not sure about the 6, 8, or newer 10 speeds. Jerry
