CT hasn't had any pro sports teams since the Whalers left in the 90s, so people here are mostly divided between Boston and New York teams, UConn is the one thing that brings us together in sports. That being said, I grew up one town over from Uconn, and the funny thing is basically no one talks with that "New England" accent Calhoun was going on and on about. Sure there are some people who do, but most of them come from Providence or Boston. CT is weird cause it's both New England and the New York tri-state area, but everywhere that I've lived (Willimantic, New Haven, New London) most people have talked way more New York-y than Boston-y. Of course I'm sure you go up closer to the MA and RI borders to those little towns, you probably get way more New England accents, but still.
So that's how Calipari learned to shut down a home-and-home series like he did against Indiana because they wouldn't move the games off campus. He learned it from Calhoun doing it to him.
