Sublime are just kinda their own thing and don't fall into a category that easy. They mix rock/reggae/ska/hip hop in some songs. They're just unique and do what they wanna do
Joseph R They are part of a genre called Ska.
Heavily influenced by punk, hence the Bad Religion and Descendents covers.
Makoto Nijima most of their music is ska punk but they mix a lot of genres
That's the thing that was kinda great about back in the day. A lot of people were experimenting with lots of genres and sounds to come with something unique. I think that's why a lot of music from that ear still stands up now. I pull out my crates now and then and play some stuff for my nieces and nephews and a lot time their reaction is the same as RudeLife's lol.
Fo shizzle🕺❤️😎
Not many reaction channels do Sublime, I subscribed off of that alone. Do more Sublime please!
What this guy said!
Same
Yup
Me too bruh
Try Dirty Heads as well just as good, definitely the best hip hop reggae group out to date
Haha ya Sublime is one of a kind, a lot of bands tried replicating their style but couldn't do it. The Lead singer Bradley Nowell just had that authentic magic about him. This was the first band I ever got into (Shout out Dave Mirra BMX on the PS1), 3rd grade, I had no idea what half the lyrics meant but the vibe was always dope. Excited to see your Sublime - April 29th, 1992 reaction.
One thing about Bradley that really made him stand out was the fact he had soul. It's rare to find in the genres they touched on.
3rd grade!? you so need to get off my lawn. i fought my college landlord when this song was playing. man had a glass jaw. best part... his name was sandro. go santeria. cheers.
Pepper and Slightly Stoopid may not be Sublime but they are still great bands
@No No actually it’s April 29, 1992. Bradley messed up by saying 26th but the take was so good they kept it. There’s two versions of the song “Miami” and “Leary” in “Leary” he says the correct date.
You the man Nico. Anyone who jams this much Sublime is a brother from another mother.
PUNK SKA....ONLY FROM SOCAL THIS IS SOUTHERN CALIFONIA ALL THE WAY SUBLIME LONG BEACH GARDEN GROVE....THEY ARE LEGENDS OUT HERE IN SOCAL!!!!!!!!!! WE ALL GREW UP WATCHING THEM LIVE EVERYWHERE IN SOCAL IN THE 90S!!
Sublime - wrong way
about damn time someone reacts to sublime
Here is another good one. Sublime: April 29th 1992
Yes!
FYI April 26 1992 😜😁👍
this. so much this...
@AIDAN CALLEN A great cruisin toon.
It's April 26th, 1992. There was a riot on the streets tell me where were you? You were sitting home watching your tv, while I was participating in some anarchy.
My favorite band of all time. They are like Reggae punk. A lot of other genres mixed in but that’s their title. Other bands try and are really good like Pepper and Slightly Stoopid but sublime will always be the OG and definitely the most unique.
"with the whistling and the scratching with the guitar?" Best reaction quote ever.
I graduated high school in 1995 and Sublimes 40 OZ to freedom album was playing in every car rolling into school. They are one of my favorite top 10 bands. I seen their last show at the House of Blues in LA. I eventually moved to LA 10 days after Biggie got killed. LA was a great to see live music. We were at a 250-300 maximum occupancy clubs on a Tuesday night and I can’t remember the name of the club because it was 25 years ago but it was on Santa Monica Blvd. A local band was playing and when they were finished a announcement was make that a another group is going to come up next and play some music. The music starts to play first for about 5 seconds and then the curtains raise and it’s Radiohead. There names were NOT up on the Marquee. Anyone out there that Is a Radiohead fan knows how rare it is to catch Radiohead and especially in the US. They rarely toured and they didn’t have many US dates. LA was like that in the late 90’s. Another time at the Malibu Inn, I don’t know if it’s still there. But at that time a guy.cool ass dude, named Roney owned it. This was a Friday night because we would always have “company drinks” on a Friday night at the Malibu Inn. Well that’s were it would start and usually ended up in Hollywood or Sunset leaving when the sun was out for a few hours the next day. This night Roney had a local band playing there who were really good. They would do 4-5 covers and then play a original song that they wrote. Like I said, they were really good and good musicians. The Malibu Inn at that time was a restaurant on the right side of the front door and a dive bar on the left side with 2 pool tables in the back. It was a really cool place. It also had a outside bar with good space. A lot of celebrities would role through there. I gave Chris Penn,Sean’s brother, a ride home a few times because he got to hammered. He was a good dude,Rip Chris. A lot of the cast for American Gladiators use to come in there. My buddy Jimmy and I would play pool against Ice and Zap and actually became friends. This night Tom Petty and his wife came to have dinner. This was in 1997-98 pre social media and even text messaging. The word got around in the bar and someone told the band to play Free Fallin’ and they did. There are two ways to get into the bar area from the dining area. One right by the front door and the other about half’s the bar distance there is a passageway with no doors. It was for the servers so the had a clear path while bringing drinks from the bar to that area. We see Tom Petty peaking his head through that entrance and after peaking for about 2-3 minutes he beelines it to the little stage area that is only about 6-8 inches off the floor and talks to the singer and the guitarist and bassist come in to talk to Tom. Tom ended up playing for more than 2 hours with the kids band singing his songs and doing covers of the Beatles,Doors,Stones and many more. When I said kids band I’m meaning 18-20 year old dudes. They are still kids at that age as everyone has been. Anyway I know that I went off on a huge tangent but I’m super baked right now and those experiences flashes through my mind. Shout-out to Roney and thanks for saving my ass a few times. You were one of the best bar/restaurant owners I have ever dealt with and I dealt with a lot being in that music/film industry. Cooler than a PolarBears toenails Roney.
He died from a heroin overdose. I suggest you go and listen to Their most popular song is called Santeria . And if you dig into all the music you can hear him express that he wasn’t shy but is in the addiction and there’s one song that says he’s going to lose the war one day and sure enough he did and it’s very sad because he was a talented man
I had really enjoyed 40oz To Freedom and was looking forward to this new album. Brad overdosed before this album was even released, which would've made the band HUGE, but they couldn't even tour for it obviously. Years later added Rome as a new singer/guitarist, but Brad WAS Sublime (no disrespect to their awesome rhythm section of Eric and Bud).
You should check Bradley so. He was only a baby when Bradley passed away. But now he’s all grown up and has his own band called law forgot his name forgive me but i forgot his name just search the the band he plays in called (LAW) some coverage on his debts songs that are so cool
This is still one of my favorite road trip albums. Especially if I'm heading to Cali.
Sublime - Santeria, Wrong Way, Garden Grove, April 26 1992, Annie
Saw Sublime in CA before the lead singer died, as he passed before this album hit... was amazing! They are really unique 😊🖤
R.I.P. Bradley.
Sublime get lumped into
SKA/Punk usually, but they were super unique and a killer band.
Hip hop/soul/punk/ska...they were a melting pot of a lil from many genres. Grew up listening to em & was only 6 when Bradley passed but I've always had a connection with him & their music. Sorta similar with Layne from AIC/Dime from Pantera etc. Never woulda guessed how many different things and ways shit like Sublime would help me thru different darker times of my life. Weird to think I'm about to be 3 years older than Bradley even was when he passed. RIP ✌🏻
@@EricJh21690 wow, cool that the music was so helpful. It's crazy how fast it all goes by. I was in high school when AIC, PJ, NIRVANA etc .. hit the scene. I'm old af. It's bizarre, just all of a sudden your 37 then 40 then 50 like wtf?! I used to get mad about it but this is a good reminder that it's a privilege to grow old and just look how many greats didn't get the opportunity. Nah, I still hate it, LOL!!
@@AK00777 I'll +1 on that...getting old sucks and can get depressing especially in this world 😂✌🏻
Sublime is just good sitting in the drive way cooking some burgers on a summer afternoon as you down a few brews music.
When he said “what?! With the whistling and scratching” I lost it lmao I had the same reaction when I first heard that
YES... Some Sublime. Sublime is the shit!! Like hed PE, they smash through heaps of genres and both bands make some of the best punk.
Richard Pryor "fuck you can even sing" sample in the beginning.
I always put it in the alternate rock category but they are so much more🥰 By the way THANK YOU 😊 I havet heard that song in years! My old ass can not keep up with certain parts now I see lol shit will get you out of breath🤣🤣 I loved this and it's the first one of yours I have ever watched😁 follow✔️

What’s up buddy big fan of your reactions I’m glad to see you’re doing so sublime.!Little scoop on this been releasing a Bradley no well his dad took him to Jamaica when he was five years old & he fell in love with the Jamaican sound End it was just during his roots after that and has gone on to be the most successful reggae white boy to ever do it But it’s a shame he died in 1996 right after the release of this song and album after that it blew up everybody went got their albums and it’s sad because he was real respected in the hip-hop community
"5446 Thats My Number/ Ball And Chain" and "dont push" by sublime you'll love em. Much respect from texas 🖤
Come to the live streams
I just heard this song on the radio tonight. I still to sublime daily through YT, but I haven’t heard this song in a year probably. Out of nowhere I hear it on the radio, and I catch this video as a suggestion. Weird.
Sublime is my favorite band from my high school days besides Nirvana... Sublime is Reggae/Ska/Punk/with a little Rap.
Their an avant rock band. Avant means expiremental they mix genres and styles mostly ska rock(surf) +Reggea rock with acoustic, thrash punk, some hip hop elements and very little rap, turntables. A good amazing band they have a relaxing side and a punnkish energetic side. :) sublime a good band.
Yes! I was hoping you would react to this! Sublime has so many great songs! This is called "Ska" music. They were way before their time tho. Glad 2 c u appreciating Sublime. Awesome choice & reaction.
well this song isnt really ska, but they would be under ska/punk/reggae/hip hop, all that.
LinZy AZ their a reggae band lol Bradley wanted them to be known like that
They aren't SKA
@@andreathesexy1 I stand corrected. 🙃
@@linzyaz920 This isn’t ska bruh
@RudeLife just letting You know. My Mom does not smoke pot. To this day, and had a Happy Mother's Day. Bradley - "I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay...Living with Louie Dog's(his Dalmatian Dog) is the only way to stay sane, let the lovin' come back to Me"
Sublime is Legendary and their music is very fun.
I hope you keep listening to Sublime. I can listen to all their albums from start to finish. Never gets old.

Sublime - April 29, 1992, Same in the End, Summertime (Doin' time),
Sublime-Garden Grove!
Its called skaa its Jamaican dance hall meets light rock
Sublime top 5 for me! So many hits so many B Sides! Shaped my life!
YOU CALL IT SUBLIME, THE ONE AND ONLY! THANKS NICO! Try ball and chain, 5446. Promise you’ll enjoy
Sublime was to me a reggae version of the Beastie Boys...both were pioneers.
Sublime are in the genre known as SKA
They have a handful of Ska songs. There is nothing about "What I Got" that could be consider Ska.
Yep, Love...you got bruh...
I was never a big Sublime guy, but this song is a stone classic. Hard not to be happy when you listen to it. And yeah, like others are saying, you might like ska, which this is pretty close to. Again, not a big fan generally, but there's some great ska out there. No Doubt is my personal favorite of the genre, although like Sublime, they weren't "pure" ska.
tech, Sublime is considered Ska. you should check a great song called "Slow Ride" by Sublime.
Pouya shoutouted u out
All your reviews are great no matter what the hater say
This too. Just yes.
Sublime is considered Ska
Sublime "Doin Time " pleaaase
Caress Me Down is another good Sublime song to react to.
Especially if you read the English translation along with him singing in Spanish.
Unless of course you know Spanish🤷🏼♀️, and don’t need the translation lol.
my boy smokes all my trees.
jajajaja words
Bro, you have to react to " april 26 1992" by SUBLIME" .
This is punk reggae ska/dubstyle that's where the word dub comes from to where isn't actually a genre for it. Hence the genre dubstep, which is drumstep plus any genre you want to add to it.
Everlast "What It's Like "
The bullet proof vest line is from Lauren hill
Hell Yes!!!! Great reaction! Go Beavers!!!
Get after it! 😁
The never start no static line is from Lauren hill in a Fugees song
Sublime - Paddle out. Ska punk it right up!
Dude. Go Zags bro
Sublime does a great cover of Guava Jelly by Bob Marley
Save the trees🇺🇸
May I suggest, Boss DJ. Song makes me cry and gives me chills. That voice! Just found your channel. I dig ya!
Nice! Hey man, I was there back in the day. Bought the CD on a shitty Capital Records contract and loved it big time. (...) I also don't know what to call this music. :D
We miss you, Brad
Sublime are a great vibe! Try “Badfish” 🔥

Karma is justice without the satisfaction.
Cool videos
What I got starts off with ol' dirty bastard "fuck you can't even sing" and the song is a mix between half pint loving and fugees fugeela with a blend bradley style making it his own. Had a dat and Slow ride are two of my top five favorites.
Sublime are the ultimate southern California post punk jamband. They have no Genre, influenced by Punk, Ska, Reggae, and the Grateful Dead. they were dirt poor street kids who mostly grew up middle class, they were into drugs, partying, and not giving a fuck.
It's sublime... that's what it is. nobody like them out ever, before, since or after. Check out
Doin Time by Sublime.
I subbed. I like what you have to say.
"If Ma smokes all the tree up... we prob'ly gonna throw some hands!" 😂
more sublime please
lou doggo! *whistles*
Haha I hit my gallon of water and look back and you hittin yours.
Brad was such a talented dude.
They always leave us way too early.
Sublime - summertime
LBC for days the sound is LONG BEACH if you lived there your whole life you will get it.....I knew Brad..I lived above the Potholder cafe Long Beach where he would eat always saw him Nice guy but high alot......Amazing he can work on all kinds of drugs...
Not sure if you've done it yet but Boss DJ and KRS One by Sublime are the shit
Hey you do a good job at your reactions check out some Pearl Jam AC DC or Temple of the Dog Say Hello To Heaven keep up the good work I'm 46 live in Minnesota huge Pearl Jam fan huge Viking fan I love watching people that haven't heard some of the music I used to love
Their a Punk band with their own flavor that played alot of good covers. The cds are heavily mixed. Live it was a punk band.
Wasn't smoking a tree as much as doing that heroine, it's why he died before this album released.
Jakob nowell and l.a.w. Bradley's sons band. Or go pull up the house that bradley built. Or check out the nowell family foundation. Brad's family is starting a rehab center for musicians who struggle with heroin addiction.
The 90’s has a few sort of mash up bands that mixed up different genres. Sublime are great example of this and Beck and Sugar Ray are worth checking out too.
Faith no More did it a hell of a lot. Went through about 5 big changes.
RIP Bradly
There are no bands like this anymore, a group that followed their own direction and didn't fall within a specific category. They did their own thing/mix.
Hey check out Little Stranger, from Phily, out of Charleston, South Carolina now. Mix of reggae/ska/hip hop. Have a pretty unique sound. Really fun on the earz.
ma dukes!!!!
