Thank You!! Just getting started on reactions after being a musician for so long and def. needed to watch this. Thank you for the information! Also when you said you lifted the copyright on youtube for your music so other artist and creators can use it is genius!!

OMG, thank you so much for sharing! I uploaded one of my cover songs a few weeks back and got copyright claim and was quite panicked 😅 and didn't even know there is an option to dispute as "cover song"! This helped me a lot. Your still breaking copyright law so I doubt you will win
This has always been a question I had. Thanks for the info
Anytime
Hi Jacob, I searched this topic and your video popped up. Thank you for the info but I would suggest if next time you would switch the screen because I would love to see a bigger picture of your screen.
Thank you!
Agree
Very well Jacob! I am also a reactor of music videos and have to go through the exact same process every time. To be honest, the repetitive process of disputing my videos can get a little frustrating at time, but there is no other way around the copyright strike. That's smart how you have a scripted dispute ready to get for future videos.
Reactor is not a thing. Piece of Shit that coasts off other people's work because they have 0 creativity IS however. I'ts one thing to review something, giving an analysis and opinion using some clips to illustrate those points, or making a parody/satire of the thing by changing some elements or putting them in a different context, but playing the full video and adding an audio track? Lazy and scummy, especially when you guys do it to other content creators that bothered oh, I don't know, CREATING something.
@@Hassassini bro you have no subscribers. You bitter and not putting work in the make your dreams come true that you are trying to achieve. How about you take your; ranting, analyzing, disputing, debating, and critizing and youtube channel doing all of those. How about YOU CREATE content.

yo, you are so accurate about not avoiding it copyright claims.. Ive fought over 400 easily and won all of them. I create my beats and it seems like most claims are initiated by youtube and not the artist. I've never lost and I fully back your methods.... good stuff
Good stuff!
Great video! Quick question - Have you ever gotten a strike for disputing one of the claims? I do movie reviews/analysis and use a lot of clips from the movies with voiceover along with a few ~5 second clips with audio from the movies related to my talking points. I haven't had much issue so far but 20th Century Fox has blocked a video twice now on my channel. I'm afraid if I try and dispute fair use I will get a strike. Thanks in advance!
Never. Not once.
I wouldn’t appeal any REJECTED claims though
I have like 371 videos on my channel I've disputed all of them, but from all 371 videos only 30 of them are free, the rest are copyright claim, em I'm doing something wrong?
Are they “ in dispute” or was the “dispute rejected”?
@@JacobRestituto rejected , almost 95% of them
can't believe i've been making reaction videos for 2 years and videos in general for 7 and didn't realise this lmao. thanks so much for this!!!!
you're welcome! spend some time and go back in do it for your previous vidoes!
We just got a strike on our channel for one of our React videos. I used your guidance to dispute the video, but it was immediately denied within a few hours. I decided to take the next step and "Appeal" the rejection since it seemed too quick and perhaps "automatic" rather than intentional. That proved to be a mistake, as it resulted in a strike and take down of the video. There are other reactions to this same live performance on RUclips, but I guess we pushed to far with the appeal. Now, I'm going to contact the creator directly and try to get them to remove the strike. Any advice on that?
Yeah, I would never recommend appealing the dispute, I’m honestly not sure if the creator will have a say in it, it’s likely more of RUclips or the people that claimed it, likely an outside company that the artist uses
Thanks for this! My understanding was that if you dispute at all, you get a strike but seems like the initial dispute will not get a strike(?)
the initial dispute wont get you a strike, its if you try to appeal the dispute where they will give you a strike and take down notice. it even says so after you submit your initial dispute@@Dynamofoe
I was super curious how this worked and how reactors worked around this. So I went to google and this is the first video that popped up! Haha thanks for explaining all this, man!

hey Jacob,
Im new to creating reaction videos but every time i do i get a copyright claim. When i would dispute it i would write thee same exact things that other RUclipsrs have used but i would get it rejected. This is what i write in my dispute:
"I have no intent on claiming this music for my own. I am simply reacting to the video and giving my constructive feedback." What else should i write ti dispute it so that it doesnt get rejected. Although my channel isnt able to be monetized yet. thanks in advance and hope to hear from you. -Shai Hang
lmk if u found anything
Nothing because your breaking copyright law
it's likely content based, some people never let anything go through. also it depends on what youre doing insdie the video
Time to create YOUR OWN CONTENT then, and stop being useless
@@JacobRestituto what if I’m doing a street reaction of asking people to maybe sing and react then I post excerpts of the original clip in my video. Would that work?

I wish you could do multiple at a time, but only one per open tab, so if you have a bunch of tabs open, you can do it that way
Do you ever get copyright strikes from disputing ? 🤔great tips!
Never, the only threat is if you dispute the rejected claim
like, if your dispute gets rejected, I wouldn't appeal the rejected dispute

Hey ! I want to ask u a question ... That if I want react to a video should I write anything in description so my video will be not be copyright? Pls answer
It makes no difference. Most copyright claims are from the Content ID algorithm, which monitors and scans the actual videos. With that being said, yes, go for it; there is no harm in doing it. I put a disclaimer at the bottom of my description box for every one of my videos.
some reactors reverse the image to avoid blocking and one even had the image in 9 seperate but equal portions to avoid it. These were specifically for PTX videos. Have you ever tried these techniques?
Interesting!
What is PTX? Can I do reactions on Karen clips? Or local clips that aren't professional made like the ones people make of like fighting or etc?
How do you reveres the clips

I found the statement you used to dispute at one time and it worked but I cant find it anymore. Do you still have it that I can copy and paste?
Really interesting, thanks. About seven years ago, I made some home travel movies for friends and family on RUclips - not monotised or anything - and at that time you could download music from Jamendo on a CC non-commercial use (with attribution) license. I went out of my way to source music I could use and even made voluntary donations to some of the artists. I recently went back into my old channel and realised that half of them now had copyright claims against them! I managed to track down one of the artists and he was really kind and said 'sorry for the mix-up' and withdrew the claim, but I was really hacked off with Jamendo because I had specifically sourced music they said I could use, and now I have to redo everything because I can't contact half the artists.
U can keep it videos up. U can even put popular songs on them. A copyright claim only means u can't earn money. U can still have it up and people watching it.
same. very disappointed that youtube basically built a way around the creative commons free-to-use-with-attribution music space.
this was honestly an amazing video

So after following your guide I received this email, (
After reviewing your dispute, [Merlin] Too Lost has decided that their copyright claim is still valid.) and they are only claiming like 40sec of the whole video , what do I do after this ?
have you ever received a copy right claim on yourself? My whole channel had that issue and i did not notice because i went MIA for 1 year. Basically when i hover over to copyright owners i see my channel name which is odd, i dispute more than 100 videos where i used licensed music and the dispute was emailed to myself. My main question is, it still shows my name for copyright claims on some videos i didnt dispute yet because i used royalty free music. I am wondering what options i should select so i do not get a strike. I hope this makes sense and you can reply. THANKS!
I would use the RUclips chat option in your studio

Keep up the good work and one day you are gonna claim other reactors videos when they listen to your songs😂

Thank you for this. I’ve honestly watched this video a million times, everytime I have an issue. Question :
If a video is blocked outright BEFORE I dispute, if I then submit a dispute (I really do believe it should fall under fair use) and they still deny it, will i receive a copyright strike? Or will it just remain blocked?
You’re very welcome!
So if I understand correctly, if it’s blocked, and you dispute, it should open up again within 48 hours until YT reviews
Then if it’s blocked again, you can either choose to re edit the video or scrap it….maybe Patreon?

what i hate about many reaction videos in youtube nowadays are contents claimed as reaction videos but basically they just re-uploaded other creators' hardwork with them on the screen, nothing else. if it's a funny content, they're just watching and laughing. if it's not funny they're making faces as a sort of reaction. but basically, all they did was show someone else's work and watched it with us. where's the idea of being a "creator" in those cases? there should be a way for youtube to identify what are really reaction videos, complete with discussion or explanation... and what are simply re-uploading and using someone else's content.
completely agree
"What I hate about many reaction videos is that they are just them reacting" is what I just read. Lol. I think it's a valid argument for you to think reaction videos are not content. I would extremely disagree. Not because this is my reaction channel writing this but because I watch other people's reactions to see how they also reacted to things I've already seen. Most reaction channels for videos hardly include the full video in any way that's enjoyable to just watch for the video. Otherwise, it would get the copywriter claimed. I'm not sure what else you would expect a reactor to do other than react going with the implied premise that you think reactors could be content. If they are going to be watching it for the first time they are unlikely to be able to provide an analysis or breakdown of the video. But that's a different type of video altogether.
I may have missed it but how do you prevent copyright claims? The video just talks about what to do when you get a claim
The artists that submit their music for our channel want us to play their songs but when we do, it gets claimed and we can't seem to get past it even with the disputes. Plus the disputes don't have a selection for this kind of permission. We don't monetize but youtube does so that's an issue too. How do we get to play the artists without getting our videos blocked and our channel damaged for it.
That’s really tough….maybe you’d have to go with non copyright music
@@JacobRestituto Not possible but I did see a possible work around on google with regards to Review and reaction videos. Perhaps we can use that template to qualify for fair usage.
The number of people on here starting reaction channels should be a hint that we don't need more reaction videos.

id say something like 50-60% will get rejected. it's up to the discrection of the artists management or video management. some artists let everything go through, some artists let nothing go through
I'm having the same issue. Some of my videos don't set off ID at all and some take me 3 times to upload a version with almost all the original video cut. Might be just something that happens with newer creators in this area. Not sure. No body is talking about it at all. lol

that's a block, you can dispute it and the block will usually lift in 48 hours. but might not be monetizable
Hi Jacob, thank you for your videos. I have started doing reactions on music and to make the videos longer, I include several songs. Sometimes I get a "Partial Block" due to one of the songs claiming Copyright. Is the whole video demonetized or only a particular part? Is it worth disputing "partial blocks"?
The whole video becomes demonetized based on any section that gets claimed
Thank you 🙏
i've only done one and it got denied so i havent tried more, mostly because when you submit the dispute it says your channel can be removed for false disputes. i would hate for something to get flagged like that and i just get erased
that's likely if you argue the rejection
Does that mean you don't get a strike right away if a dispute is rejected? I always assumed that disputing a copyrighted content will get you a copyright strike if rejected.
Nope! No strike! Only if you dispute the rejection are you eligible for a strike!
@@JacobRestituto thanks for clarifying this. Never disputed a claim before so this is good to know.
What would you say when dispute your claim? Is there certain words you have to say? I am planning on doing reaction videos
Thank you for this. I recently did a reaction video on a reaction video and I received a copyright claim. This really helped.
So glad!
Do you know how to find royalty free images of tv shows? I'm trying to find one for Virgin River.
I don’t know if you’d have a copyright issue with images
Love the information. This helps so much. My question is if it comes back with the claim still being valid, is it worth trying to dispute further or is it better to just move on?
Definitely not, I’d just move con
question will reaction videos with copyright claims count as reused content and prevent me from getting monetized once I reach 4000 watch hours and 1k subs?
not that I know of, I think it owuld be fine
if you get 3 strikes instantly what do you do?>
i've never heard of that before, try using the chat option in youtube studio
Hey bro! Is it safe to dispute claim if it says "You're sharing revenue on this video with music rights holders?" I don't want to push it too far and get a strike.
Yes
I'm a little confused on the subject. So I do album reviews/suggestions on my channel. So far I have 5 videos and all of them say copyright claim. I talk about the artists and play their songs. The artist of course uploads their music on here for free so I'm not doing any ads or getting money from my videos. Just want to give the artist more exposure. So should I just continue making my reviews?
Why not! Definitely! If you enjoy making them!
That’s just RUclips’s way of saying the musician owns their music
Question if I put a movie on RUclips that I know is going to get taken down if I do a silhouette like mystery science theater 3000 and say once in awhile this is my favorite part of the movie would not be taken down.
Thanks. I did a reaction video that got blocked. Others that got through had a transparent screen and some had what appears to be a semi-transparent picture on top. I was looking for those types of videos.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
So if you make an authentic video with your own content, and you use a small clip of some music that gets claimed. Does that make the person get the money from the monetization? Do they get all the credit/money for your video just because it has a part of their music?
Yep
Wanted to ask you a question about one of your comments. I am a scratch DJ but really do not make my own music. So, using yours to scratch to would be okay?
You’re more than welcome to use my music! I’d love to hear it!
on Fair use do you play the entire video or music file or just a small portion?
I usually play the whole video, it depends on the song, some artists don’t let it go through, some do
Would love to see what you wrote when you disputed the claim. I don't see it in your description.
This is my musical reaction, breakdown and commentary analysis of the song and video. This is for educational purposes only. I intend no copyright infringement, and this is not a replacement for listening to the song. As covered under fair use copyright laws listed below, we simply reacted to the video by giving constructive feedback, criticism and comments.
Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. No copyright infringement intended. ALL RIGHTS BELONG TO THEIR RESPECTIVE OWNERS
Thanks for sharing this information, What did you write to dispute your video?
Thank you for this video, we’re just uploading our first review/reaction video. So this info was great, let’s see how it goes… thanks again.
Good luck!!!!
What should I put inside the box asking the question as to why my use of the contet is an example of fair use?
Reaction video. Likely
I can't tell you how much this video has helped me. Thank you.
So glad!!
I made drone videos with music from various artists, i got blocked from getting pd, even though i put in the beginning, I don’t own rights to music?????
Whst software do you use for making reaction videos and whst how do you create your thumbnails, also great information in this video.
I record in STREAMLABS - and then take a bunch of photos to use as thumbnails and grab the album cover from Google
Great video. I'm going to look for your other one on reaction videos. I've been trying to do a vodcast series on tv commercials but have had issues in the past playing and reacting to them on live and pre-recorded videos. Do you have any recoemmendations?
If you film a few in advance, it’ll give you a little wiggle room with waiting for the disputes
@@JacobRestituto Thanks, man. Good advice.
I subbed off this video alone.... this just happened to me for the second time... the first time I just edited my video and removed the blocked content because I didn't know any other solution. I didn't mind too much because it was only about 3 minutes of a 15 minute video. This time my video was over an hour long and it blocked my more crucial parts of the content and so I just followed your steps. Wishing for the best. I'll come back to this comment and update once I know the ruling LOL. Wish me luck 🤣
Hey man I have a question. Do I need to give the persons channel link in the description of my reaction video
I usually dont
HEY! Im in mobile, so can i still do this? Also, my video is copyrighted and I think that means someone people cant view it? I dont know, but i dont make money on youtube. All i want is for my video to be seen more. So would this still work?
How long can a video clip be in reaction videos? Say if you had a reaction video switching from clips to your reaction?
I’m not sure if it’s a specific amount of time, as opposed to what you’re saying
Amazing man. Worked for my first two videos I tried it on. Thanks for the info!
So glad!
hi, i have a question. is it true once your video is allowed to monetization after disputed it, it still can be copyright claim? TIA
lol, yeah, that's true, youtube's algorithm sometimes picks it back p
Thanks for this my guy! I just uploaded two reaction videos. One, the dispute was rejected. The other is still under review. I didn’t necessarily put the fair use disclaimer verbatim in the rationale section. However, I implied that I included one in the description boxes of my videos. This worked for another reaction video of mine the other day. I guess I should start putting the full disclaimer in the future.
Good luck! Hope it works out!
wait so you don’t put the disclaimer in the description?
@@shakirakilreactions I did. My video that was under review dropped their claim. It just depends on the copyright owner at the end of the day I believe. For future reference, I suggest putting a disclaimer in your description boxes & the dispute rationale section when you dispute the claim.
@@JtotheBTV word. appreciate you 🤞🏿
what if we dont care about getting paid, they call me "not advertiser friendly" anyways so i really dont care about getting paid, i just want to do them for fun. what issues would i have, will the block the vids?
My 12-year daughter and I are starting with this channel and we wanted to do reaction videos to songs but we are afraid that her channel will be removed. Would playing the video in OBS and us recording ourselves listening to something would possibly get hit with a copyright
Any information is greatly appreciated
If you post it on RUclips it’ll likely get claimed. But that doesn’t mean your channel is at risk, it just means you won’t make money on it unless you dispute and win the claim
