Except the rotoscoping tool in After Effects is a masking tool, essentially. But yes, it's classically called a rotoscope.

Stupid question maybe but.... I sell real estate, would I track the footage that I want to outline the property and track, then use the pen tool to trace the property (not sure how to make adjustments to the drawing) then connect that drawing to the null object point that tracking created closest to property line. By copying the null object information ( not sure if I fully understand that part) then (I guess I can click on key points created to make adjustment.
Ps. I think I missed the step of after tracing the property to make it 3D
Why my analysis keeps failing :( I keep on retrying but it just goes till solving camera and then in middle of it says analysis failed :/ I've been trying to click around the settings but nothing seems to help...
when i right click the tracker point the options for like "create null and camera" don't come up. help please!

I tried this on on after effects, and i must have missed a step. because after i copied the location of the null to the layer, it did put it in that location, but it did not stick when the footage was rolling. please tell me what you did to cause the layer drawing to follow the null. i also tried connecting the layer drawing by pigtail to the null but that didnt work either. Im sure that its something easy but i cant find it. please help an old man learn something new. thanks again.

Wow, I have to say I'm kind of surprised ... in 2015, with all it's advanced camera tracking abilities, there is still no way to automate the plane-matching process? I could have sworn AE could do this, no?

I'm having trouble on how to insert my PPCC15 proj to AECC15. I want to add the doodling fx to my proj but I don't know whats the most effective way in doing without losing compositions. Also, my AE interface looks different from yours. I can't locate the outpoint marker (.54 seconds). Do you know where i can find it? Thank yoU!

Type paths is a preset. So it goes in your preset folder. I don't have one personally but there are several videos on RUclips about installing AE presets.

Why don't you just use the parent function instead of copying the position of the null to the rectangle
I follow all the steps, but I don't see any stroke (the rectangle). I only get purple edit lines. Do you know what's going wrong here? (-:

+Romee I think Romee is talking about when they went to make a rectangle it was just creating a mask, and the mask color lines she/he has is purple. I'm having the same problem I'm not sure how to get to fill options and to make a new shape layer I guess, instead of a mask.
