I think it would be cool if they implemented a militia system, like if a castle is going to be sieged the Lord of the castle can call in the peasants of his land to make an emergency militia to defend the castle, but doing so sacrifices any production and taxes he gets from the villages and he has to pay their upkeep
Ya I know, but make a militia type of unit that the farmers turn into when called to arms, and make them comparatively weak compared to proffesional soldier units, but mostly just used to bulk up your number of defenders, as a last ditch defense
Aaron B even if the vanilla game wont have that system,im sure modders will do such things like that.Because i have a feeling that moddeds really looking forward for this game and also they told they will give more options to modders.I just wish that we have the game like soon, very soon :D because i cant control my hype!!
But how would the militia from surrounding villages/castles get inside a besieged town/castle? Maybe they could come from the town that's besieged? And then have heavy population losses affect the integrity/trade/population of that town? Would be cool to see.
Sturgians seem to be the ancestors of the Vaegirs. Balgrad = Belgrade, so they are probably more Slavic than Nord. Remember that the Nords from the original M&B and Warband aren't native Calradians, they invaded from the sea.
Uncle Skull,14'th Panonian Regiment of the Imperial Guard My guess is they'll be a mix of Nords and Vaegirs. If you look at their equipment in the siege gameplay they seem very heavily Norse-inspired, albeit with kite shields. On the Taleworlds site they're called Viking-like, and CaptainLust said they were the ancestors of the Vaegirs but not quite. Also, it should be noted that much of Sturgian territory is across a sea to the north of what was Calradia in Warband.
It only makes makes sense sturgians are ancestors of the vaegirs. If we take into account there are no nords yet in bannerlord and the only people native there are sturgians you can assume they are the future veagirs.
In Warband one of companions mentions that Vaegirs came from over the mountains. I think the companion also mentions that when the Nords invaded and started conquering Vaegir lands, the Vaegirs gave a call to arms to their more harsh and savage "cousins from across the mountains". Sturgians will probably be Rus' inspired. So a blend of nords and vaegirs
One thing that really bugged me in Warband (but I don't think will be changed) is the randomized equipment everytime your troops go into battle. One battle you have a shield wall with Rhodok spearmen and the next half of them have halberds. Makes use of tactics difficult. One troop should have a locked equipment once it has been recruited/upgraded.
The Duke I know that. That's not what I meant. I meant that the soldiers would randomize ewuipment every time before battle. If you had a Swadian Knight with a mail armor next battle the same guy could have Courir Bouli (idk what that armor was called). The equipment should always be the same, once recruited.
I think there is certain problem with that. Game would have to remember what is every soldiers exact equipment and PC is not unlimited storage of space and cant process absolutely everything. Just because something could be changed, it does not mean that developers dont know about it. It is just the limitations of the current tech.
+HATERS luvME no that's not what I mean. I mean that every troop should have different equipment but not randomize it every battle as they do in warband
taleworlds should give you a free copy when the game is out.You really put work in your videos and im sure you made a lot people to get to know bannerlod
@Lawrence Wilshaw 2 years down the track but if you didn’t know, yes you can take over an existing faction steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/0/1692662484257502336/
If this game don't come out before summer i'm going to do absolutely nothing about it and continue living my monotonous life, but be just a little more disinterested in the game and perturbed with the developers.
I completely disagree with your opinion with the Calradic Empire. The Calradic empire is obviously based off of the real-life romans. The romans split into two for administration and millitary reasons, but they were both very close allies and generally really good friends. I would assume the Calradic Empires are very friendly, but are just too weak to survive (like the romans).
Since they are neighbours it would be more like in Rome Total War with the 3 leading roman houses. Allies, if one goes to war with someone they all join. At the lategame they might have a civil war.
WRE and ERE were good friends because literally every one else was hell bent on wiping out the Romans, i.e: Sassanids, Goths, Vandals, Huns and every other Germanic/Celtic tribe i couldn't give a fuck about. WRE and ERE even went to war against each other when they found themselves not being invaded from all sides for a short while, trying to conquer one another.
ERE wasn't "too weak to survive" until the Turks, Crusaders and Catalans (Gran Compañía Catalana's employment benefited the Turks in the long term) fucked them up. And the Slavs too.
Nah. It makes the game too easy. I mean, in mid-late game period you capture enemy lords oftenly. Perhaps there should be a lord spawning system when they're killed.
I think lords should have heirs that would serve as companions to them or maybe have their own warband. And when that lord dies one of his heirs would inherit all his lands and titles/ his holdings could be divided among his heirs.
Tho mas I think this should be add but the perfect feature would be if your HP goes to 0 you die and have to start over (if the lord choose to kill u) cuz that's fair
>same combat from warband, animation for animation, weapons coliding look like you're fighting with sticks >same character models >same game >better graphics You should put your money in the "savings account" slot, far away from this game.
The Rhodoks became great against horses in the civil war, out of need to defeat the heavy horse of Swadia. This is explained by Bunduk (one of the companions) when riding past Grunwalder Castle. :)
Emre - I highly doubt it'll come out in Q1 or Q2. I also doubt it'll come even in Q3. I think Q4 is when it'll be released, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come out until 2018.
Every time he calls one of the factions "descendants" of another, I die a little on the inside. I'm pretty sure the correct term is "ancestors", right?
Your question about the Rhodok weaponry is explained in Warband from the companion Bunduk. A leader named Grunwalder trained the Rhodok the pike and crossbow to resist the power of Swadian knights. Grunwalder died in the resulting action, however the Rhodoks won, thus they built and named Grunwalder Castle to his honor. Therefore, I expect for the Vlandian infantry to be largely like the Swadians, with middle of the road archers.
In the Floris mod, you can become a rank and file soldier in a Lord's army. Its an awesome feature, and it gels well into the main game: it makes the game world feel massive and makes you feel really unimportant. It also allows you to level yourself up without much risk and increases your relations with friendly lords. I hope they add this feature into Bannerlord, and also I'd love to see some peaceful options such as speechcraft and trading gameplay features. Would be fun to become a property magnate instead of becoming a boring lord
I've been noticing Lord Ironhawk that you receive messages every once and again. If you want to disable messages popping up on your screen do the following on steam: (I'm a fan just want to help) 1. Open Steam 2. Click on the bottom right "View Friends List" 3. On the top left of that little window that pops up that shows all your friends you will see the word " Friends" with a little arrow pointing down to the right of it. Click that. 4. In that small menu that popped down, click "settings" 5. Under "Notifications and Sounds" you will see "when i receive a message" 6. Under "when I receive a message" remove the check mark in the "Display a notification" box by click on the check mark. Now, you will not receive the little banner but you can still hear the sound so you know to respond after the video is recorded. If you want to remove the sound repeat but instead click the box that says "Play a sound" to remove that check mark. I am not sure if you were aware of this option and I don't mind seeing them in your recordings it's just if I were recording I would be annoyed if people messaged me during said recording. This is a remedy of that problem. Love your videos!
Eh the only really good thing about the Rhodoks was their crossbowmen. Although that did make sieges really difficult Almerra castle was always a BITCH to take down. @Peter
hey if you look carefuly where the Battanians are on the warband map, is right on the spot where you always find forest bandits. And forest bandits fight with bows. So its probably what remains of the Battanians. Anyway thats probably why they chose this place for the Battanians zone.
To be honest, I think Calradia is a mere peninsula part of a greater continent, the lands never end further East, South and North, and travelling around Calradia is rather quick, it can take over 5 in-game days to travel from Praven to Nara, yet it took over 2 weeks to travel from Edinburgh to London in the Medieval times.
Also considering the fact that the leader of the northern Calradic Empire was an elected senate member. And that the flag of the Northern Empire is purple too.
Just found this channel!Time to start bingewatching all of your bannerlord content! My opinion about women in bannerlord: I think it should be a harder start for the player. Making diplomacy much harder early game because no one wants to take her seriously. But when she makes a name for herself then she gains a diplomacy buff because it was a harder climb than her male counterpart. ** "Wait... a woman leads the army of xxxx? What a run she had to get there"
TrollFaceMafia I'm pretty sure Mount and Blade had that feature. At least that's what it said when I was creating a character, so I don't know if it's actually true or not. It just said that starting as a woman or certain race (?) might make early game a bit more challenging.

The steam pages (or website dev blogs) added so much confirmed lore such as characters and historical events in the Bannerlord era. This was more speculation than a history summarizing. Maybe you could go even further in depth by making videos on the individual factions, completely skimming through every word of their respected posts.
what I would love to see is pesent uprising and becoming an independent city/town as well as merc/hired men helping in the war and you can band together to take over a castle and split 50/50
I think it would be realistic and a good addition to the game to add "stamina" to a player's abilities. This would cut down on spamming, especially of two handed weapons. Swinging a heavy weapon repeatedly and quite frequently should reduce the power of the swing over time due to the limit of one's strength.
A companion in Warband who was from Khergit origin said that different tribes would come in from the east and take over the steppes. It was something like "strong men from the east would take over the steppes and their sons would enjoy Rhodok wine and grow weak. Then other strong men would come from the east and conquer, its a endless cycle." So from his words the Steppes had been cycled around between tribes, so the Khergits were probably a entirely different tribe then the one we will see in Bannerlord.
The information about the Khergits coming to Calradia from beyond the mountains it is already in the game.I remember that they are tribal people so when a tribe it's to populous just splits up and parts of it leave in search of greener pastures(literally).
I would really like to see your wife in game be something more, maybe a spymaster and she could find plots against other lords and plots against your family , maybe she could fight in battles with you if she has good enough stats or maybe woman could be ladys and have land of their own.
Oh and maybe you go off to battle and forget to lock the kitchen door and your wife gets out and goes off the start feminism,And then all the other lords hate you
you can play a a lord-lady, Isolla of Suno said that in the past great warrior-queen ruled or some shit, this game won't be different than the first in these regards, or, maybe it will be less sexist cause as you can see in the gameplay there is soldier-women. Also if you train militia (and you normally can), women will be there cause when you want to defend your home you don't say yourself reproducting, safety or not having the same weight as a men will count, after all a blade stay a blade. About the joke in the beggining, remember that all discrimination NEED joke on a minority to spread, look the Scale of Allport on google, it's really interesting.
They seem to have changed the basic geography a lot. It may be interesting to see a mod/dlc that adopts the Bannerlord map changes into the Warband area. Though I would understand less forests.
I remember that a companion tells of a Rhodok hero who turned the tides of war, the Swadians destroyed them with cav so this hero taught them the usage of pikes and the mountain terrain on their advantage I guess we might be that hero in the game or we can run into them and witness the civil war
my guess for the fate of the battanians is that a mixture of sturgian/calradic influence and northern migration changes them over the years into the vaegirs.
I hope they have a system where you can join a faction and become good friends with some of the lords and eventually you can declare yourself the king and take over.
I want them to add an online co-op side to the single player. I'd LOVE to conquer the factions with a friend or two, or even possibly go against my friend that's in a different faction.
Im by no means a massive history nerd, but i do think there were some differences between the Roman Empires, for instance the Eastern Roman Empire used more Mail and Lamellar types, rather than the Plate of the Western Roman Empire (yes this is an over-generalization). The Eastern Roman Empire also used heavier Cavalry in the form of the Cataphract. Probably wrong, but its an idea.
It seems to me like the Battanian faction is the origin to the forest bandits in Warband.Similar area, if my memory serves me well, and they also use archery. Perhaps they ended up being defeated and the remaining Battanians turned to crime?
I think the Sturgians will be the ancestors of the vaegirs. The Nords came from Nordland (Jumne) not long before Warband. I'd think that they'd be totally missing an opportunity if bannerlord didnt have Nordland and the original nordic faction. It would be badass
+maniac1031 I always found their choice of primary troop was kind of ironic, considering that Macedonia itself is quite hilly. It's like it was specifically developed for use outside of their own country.
Honestly, don't get hyped. The "minor factions" present in game mentioned in dev blog is probably non-kingdom ones like "mountain bandits" and "deserters". Maybe, just maybe we mod things out and get a system of subfactions, but I hightly doubt it'll be easy, specially since these things are probably hardcoded.
What I am worried about is that my comp isn't even able to run Warband with more than 300 men, so I wonder if I will be able to run Bannerlord with its such huge battles ?
I wish they tried harder to include factions that have a little more novelty of their own, rather than making proto-Nords and proto-Khergits, etc. For example, a Scythian/Sarmatian/or even Sassanian-style faction might play rather like the Khergits, but would have a distinctly different cultural flavor, making it a more original addition than just "Mongol faction number two". Replacing the Sarranids with a North-African Berber faction; one that is distinctly untouched by the Persianized Arab influences that came after the spread of Islam, would be interesting. They could even worship at pre-Islamic pagan idols and stuff like that.
Hey does anyone know if the Khergits will get fixed from vanilla mount and blade warband? I liked the idea of mongols roaming the country side but the AI for horse archery just didn't seem to work that well.
the Rhodoks learned their anti-cav tactics during the civil war by some guy named grunwalder, therefore castle grunwalder was raised on the swadian border, so i dont think the valandians will have Rhodoks-inspired troops
If minor factions exist, and they can cause uprisings, would their borders count as part of a certain nation, or would they be their own nation? And if they were their own nation could you start out as them, or maybe defect to their side.
Why has this game gone without any news for so long? They used to give us at least a tidbit within every couple months, now we've had complete radio silence for almost half a year. Doesn't seem like a good sign :(
Should i form my own clan for Bannerlord or shall i follow the Starks (My current clan) in their exploits ;)
your own, the Ironhawks. I will join
I'd join yours.

I think it would be cool if they implemented a militia system, like if a castle is going to be sieged the Lord of the castle can call in the peasants of his land to make an emergency militia to defend the castle, but doing so sacrifices any production and taxes he gets from the villages and he has to pay their upkeep
Aaron B farmers are too weak against professional soldiers tho.It won't worth it

I still say Schwaben it. Just cause it sounds similar and I live near that.

Could also kind of be based off the frankish kingdom, but romans do make more sense in that case.

Sturgians are the vaegirs, not the nords. Was even mentioned not long ago by captainlust in January in his forum replies.

Just subbed. PC Medieval games are amazing and you run a bad ass channel. Keep it up!
Didn't the female claimant for Swadia in Warband mention a warrior princess leading the Swadians? That would be quite cool to see
Your question about the Rhodok weaponry is explained in Warband from the companion Bunduk.

In the 30 mins of gameplay it shows that the Battanians Leader is a woman. This is one of the main reasons they set it in the past apparently.
bannerlords is a prequel right? I heard you saying that the factions were "the descendants" of the warband factions. tut tut!

Its pretty clear the calradic empire is based on the late roman empire ie East empire, west empire, and holy Roman empire
Snakey Snake hre was supposed to be the new western empire , they didn't exist at the same time .
Also considering the fact that the leader of the northern Calradic Empire was an elected senate member. And that the flag of the Northern Empire is purple too.
Nothing about HRE was holy or Roman for that matter.

I hope things like bandits can be joined and stuff (like you can become a bandit and fight with them and become their friends and stuff like that)
A companion in Warband who was from Khergit origin said that different tribes would come in from the east and take over the steppes.
I swear that he, or someone else, would mention that there is a "great horde" off to the east or something.
Thats Bashetur i think
great video I subbed love mab
The Empire can split into three due to inheritance. They will probably work like the West, Middle and East Francias under the Carolingians.
I imagine the empire is split into 3 because it's 3 different cultures that are at each other's throats, but they all fall under one emperor.
you say they are "descendants" of the warband factions, shouldnt they be "ancestors" of the warband factions as this is in the past?
MyRkAcc no/yes/maybe/possibly/call me
The information about the Khergits coming to Calradia from beyond the mountains it is already in the game.I remember that they are tribal people so when a tribe it's to populous just splits up and parts of it leave in search of greener pastures(literally).
Gaby Tzu He has barely played the single player
I'm just excited for the fact that my character won't be completely red when I charge into the frey
The roles of women in bannerlord for me will be "shut up and make me a sandwich" (don't tell my wife) ;)
Lee Jones ahahaXD
About the joke in the beggining, remember that all discrimination NEED joke on a minority to spread, look the Scale of Allport on google, it's really interesting.
how about none of that, and it stays true to history like it always has
They seem to have changed the basic geography a lot.
I doubt it. I don't think we'll get little civil wars in addition to the disintegration of the Empire. Maybe next game, though. Or mods, hopefully.
Bannerlord is looking to be an awesome game, soon we will play it, soon we will conquer, now then once more unto the breach.
my guess for the fate of the battanians is that a mixture of sturgian/calradic influence and northern migration changes them over the years into the vaegirs.
i laughed so hard at these guys kicking each other at 5:28
I think if the minor factions have the ability to fight the major factions and take castles, it will make the game so much more interesting.
I hope they have a system where you can join a faction and become good friends with some of the lords and eventually you can declare yourself the king and take over.
Story-wise, Sturgians are still most likely Vaegir ancestors since the Nords most likely haven't invaded yet.
these are amazing ideas i would love to see them in the game or even a free dlc if they dont have the time for release
I want them to add an online co-op side to the single player. I'd LOVE to conquer the factions with a friend or two, or even possibly go against my friend that's in a different faction.
are they ever gonna tell us and update about the game??
Tony Zhang nope their just gonna give us another preview when we don't expect
Im by no means a massive history nerd, but i do think there were some differences between the Roman Empires, for instance the Eastern Roman Empire used more Mail and Lamellar types, rather than the Plate of the Western Roman Empire (yes this is an over-generalization). The Eastern Roman Empire also used heavier Cavalry in the form of the Cataphract.
Probably wrong, but its an idea.
The Battanians could be the Vaegirs, after all if I remember correctly, the Vaegirs had the best archers, and they're in that area.
I feel like the "not Swadians" are going to have a troop composition similar to Sarleon from PoP; glorious anti-cav and op heavy cav.
!!!GAME OF THRONES SPOILER WARNING IN VIDEO!!! it comes at 7:20 - 7:30. it coms as a suprise if you care about such things
The great lord ironhawk
It seems to me like the Battanian faction is the origin to the forest bandits in Warband.Similar area, if my memory serves me well, and they also use archery. Perhaps they ended up being defeated and the remaining Battanians turned to crime?
rewatching this video over multiple times.. I just realised, where are the Vaegers ?
I hope they do something about the whole surrender or die option. Sometimes they will actually surrender.
7:29 so is this cannon that ranger seymurman stark was assassinated during a boar hunt?
all they need to upgrade from last siege video is battle AI and i think it would be biggest advance in progress
Battanians? Isn't that the Vaegirs in Warband?
Also, what mod is at 08:32?
I think the Sturgians will be the ancestors of the vaegirs. The Nords came from Nordland (Jumne) not long before Warband. I'd think that they'd be totally missing an opportunity if bannerlord didnt have Nordland and the original nordic faction. It would be badass
yeah pikes real suited for fighting in mountains
Yea same thing I thought. This guy hasn't studied much apparently.
Well, what about macedonia then?
schmid1.0 Macedonian phalanxes were specifically vulnerable fighting on rough terrain. Look up the battle of Pydna.
+maniac1031 I always found their choice of primary troop was kind of ironic, considering that Macedonia itself is quite hilly. It's like it was specifically developed for use outside of their own country.
When there's no threat of civil war in your country why use weapons specifically for it to go on a campaign?
Honestly, don't get hyped. The "minor factions" present in game mentioned in dev blog is probably non-kingdom ones like "mountain bandits" and "deserters".
Maybe, just maybe we mod things out and get a system of subfactions, but I hightly doubt it'll be easy, specially since these things are probably hardcoded.
First mod i am making, recreating the Warband Factions
What I am worried about is that my comp isn't even able to run Warband with more than 300 men, so I wonder if I will be able to run Bannerlord with its such huge battles ?
You should just rename this video to "FACTION SPECULATION"
can't wait I just beat the campaign again for the 3 third time and need some thing new.
The Rhodok-Swadian can have Heavy Goat Cavalry for mountains.
I just want to be a bandit king that every lords fear when they hear the name......( insert name here)
Hey I saw in the video that there's some sort of Roman sheildbattle, I didn't know poeple still did those
I wish they tried harder to include factions that have a little more novelty of their own, rather than making proto-Nords and proto-Khergits, etc.
The factions seem to me as a "fall of Western Rome" scenerio. Khuzait as Huns, Asaria as Sassanids, Battania as Gaul and Vlandia as Goths.
Ironhawk we played yesterday OKAM you were in my team :_D
I always thought about ACOK having that: in 3.0 you can steal dawn by taking star fall and Randylls tays valryian gs
Tarlys*
How about a feature where different factions are affected by the weather in certain locations.
I hope Calradian Empires are fighting each other most of the time, but if they are attacked by outside enemy they unite to fight common enemy.
I hope there's ways of becoming king of already established factions. such as inheriting the throne or usurping as a lord
If minor factions exist, and they can cause uprisings, would their borders count as part of a certain nation, or would they be their own nation? And if they were their own nation could you start out as them, or maybe defect to their side.
They should add something like lords starting their own factions in rebellion. Is this what you're talking about?
Why has this game gone without any news for so long? They used to give us at least a tidbit within every couple months, now we've had complete radio silence for almost half a year. Doesn't seem like a good sign :(
Just realized where the hell are the ancestor of the Vaegirs?
All i want from Singleplayer is sub-vassals of vassals. Like Counts under the Dukes under the Kings.
We get it you like game of thrones !
if that Valandian thing is so, that faction have some op troops huh, but they do have have some setbacks involving terrain
How can the Aseri be the descendants of the Sarranids when the game is set before warband?
The Sturgians seems like they would be more like the Vaigers
Once this and Mordhau comes out no one will hear from me for months.
Question, where are you getting this information from? I'd like to seek it out as well.
