Battanians probably were wiped out as there is pretty much no reference to them in Warband. Maybe the forest bandits that reside in Swadia's borders are the last remenants of them?
I'll really never get why everyone says "Vaegirs = Battanians" they have Celtic names, rather than Slavic, and don't even have the same aesthetic as the Vaegirs. On top of that the longbow argument isn't really an argument at all, since longbows were pretty common across all of Europe. That being said, there are plenty of archer cultures in our own world that are comparable, but in no way related. (For example, both the English and the Zhou Chinese relied heavily on their proficiency with bows, even though they were thousands of miles and generations apart).
Ι agree on this. Many people don't even realize that the Vaegirs are completely based on the Russian civilization. We still don't know if perhaps many of the Battanians might have immigrated to the northeast to be assimilated with the indigenous peoples. I think that the most likely explanation is that the Battanians were mostly dispersed or assimilated in most of the surrounding kingdoms and they are not a specific faction's ancestor. I also think that the Sturgians most likely differ from the Nords as in that they may be indigenous peoples that partially consisted both the current Nords' and Vaegirs' ancestors. Perhaps, after the Nordic immigration, some of them withdrew to the west along with most of the Nords, and some of them were assimilated with other indigenous populations of the nords and founded the Vaegir kingdom.
Batannians could be the welsh with their legendary bowmanship. Battania sounds a lot like Britannia. Using this information I can conclude that the Battanians are in fact part of the Brittonic culture group of the Celtic peoples.
I hope in this game conquering other factions will not be such a clusterfuck. It was a pain in the ass conquering whole Calradia and restoring the Calradian Empire. No offensive plans, too simple AI, enemy lords constanly raiding on the ass of the map. I wish you could better order your lords around to defend your borders and you could have actual peace negotiations rather then capturing everything and then waiting for an eternity until the faction officially is destroyed.
I really can't wait tbh. I mean, I want to revisit the world of mount and blade, but I'm kinda not in the mood to start a new campaign. I just know how things will go, and I don't play for long enough to really have these 2 big empires face each other, or all these little ones going after the big empire. I always play as the Nords, and the only challenge we faced was when the Khergit was the competing for our power, and they ganged us with all the other factions. We had wars on all out fronts, but we had taken all of Swadia and the Veagir lands, and we had already started to conquer the dessert tribes. Those are times I want to be in again, trying to rush your army from one end of the map to another to protect your settlements (I had a 100 relationship with the King, so I got a LOT of big cities.) I hope Bannerlord can give me that experience again.
Update guys: I think sturgians are based on Swedish vikings since they founded russia(vaegirs) And also the theories that Sturgians are not nords is bullshit, They look like nords, their equipment is named Nordic Axe etc, some of their troops are Huscarl. So i read the wiki and found out that Sturgians were invited by the Empire from Nordland(calradic Scandinavia) to crew gallies in exchange for land, they later declared independence.
Reasonant what do you think about the next blog of mount and blade bannerlord? They said in the forum it won't be an Q&A and Gamescom and E3 are over so imho there would be something new in that blog. So what do you think?
I think they are going to be explaining the in-game currency/purchases pricing. Also how they've dedicated a lot of their time and resources to the ipad version and cross platform play.
I wonder if they could make the game in such a way that bandits don't spawn as much when a region is prospering economically, and bandits can sometimes of course flow over into these wealthier/prospering regions from other factions, like a small independent skirmish
Vlandia is very close to Vandal.....if you rearrange and remove an A. Pretty sure that is on purpose considering they are raiders of the calaradic empire's western coast....
Western empire is totally inspired by late western Roman military. They have straight up late roman ridge helmets, their cavalry is called equites, etc
Dude I thought all the memes about his game never coming out were odd since the game was only announced in like 2015. Then I saw on steam that Bannerlord was announced in 2012. :0 holy shit! You'd think they would've dropped a demo, early access, 1 battle to play by now but nothing.
I would rather believe the Vaegirs are more related to the calradic empire since the Battanians are clearly celtic based opposed to the Vaegirs which are more Slavic.
My personal opinion, which is pure conjecture, is that the Vaegirs are a mix of Sturgians and formerly nomadic Khuzaits, or another people from that area
It does make sense, plus Slavs were also an immigrant population that was never really assimilated in the declining Roman Empire so I don't think they are genealogically related to the Calradians. They are most likely a mix of indigenous Northerner populations with some Khuzait and Battanian immigrants.
I just hope I can make myself my own Roman-ish empire with legionnaires equipped with lorica segmentata armour. Also want them bearpelts or wolfpelts as a cloak if they have the option, they look dope as fuck.
I think some people got it wrong saying that bannerlord is the sequel from the warband, from my research, it is actually the prequel, why? 1. They are using kite shield which is from the early medieval period from between 983 and 991 AD, not to mention the round shield that are far more ancient in terms of use. While in warband, the heater shield that was used created from the 12th Century which mean that warband is from more later medieval period. 2. The helmet that they were using in bannerlord are mostly open-faced helmets which are very common during the ealry medieval period, more helmets will be more closed face during the late medieval period and warband have more of the closed helmets than bannerlord did. 3. The armour itself aren't full plate armour or at least mostly chain and plate armours like the late ones did. Warband did have almost full plate armour while bannerlord didn't which mean that warband are in more advanced period than bannerlord did.
Definitely planning on playing the azurites and roleplaying conquering the western world as I did with the sarranids before! Love your content resonant
Well, you know what they say... Wait 10 years for bannerlord; wait 20 years for a total conversion mod. I hope one day, my grandkids get to play this game.
Khergits are not related to the Khuzaits! The Khergits mass migrated to the land of Calradia after being pushed by the "Great Horde" of the east. That, along with the fact that the Khergits had to wage a war against the Vaegirs as they invaded Calradia. Battania and Vaegir are also not related since the Vaegirs come from the Eastern lands long before the Khergit Khanate, but durring the fall of the Calradian Empire.
towards mid/lower end to run it. Of course im building a PC especially to run it Ultra settings in 4k ;) But thats just cus i want to make the most of the game ahah
A big thing about the previous M&B games was that you could play them easily with a very basic steup. I played for years on a rather old computer actually. Bannerlords looks much more polished and you probably won't be able to run it on highest setting with any piece of scrap but I think you'll probably still be able to play it easily on any halfway decent system.
Will we get something like easter-egg faction like unlock a country where your character comes from and then you get like a black armor or samurai armor
I think the Battanians are supposed to be Celts/Britons and have been wiped out/annexed by the Swadians by the time of Warband, mirroring the displacement of the Celts by Germanic tribes in Europe. If they are it's possible they'll have some kind of cavalry archer.

Sturgians are ancestors of vaegirs, his ruler title is prince, they control mostly vaegir territory. There are no nords ancestors because in his lore they are invaded in calradia.
5:14 The troops mean nothing to the lore, have you seen the battanians!? They are celts, not russians. The armor location, and names are much more telling. The sturgians share names, armor, and location with the Vaegirs.
The Battanians also lose horribly to the Valandians who then go on to form the Swadian Kingdom so we can assume the Battanians are rather spread out, it's not like the Swadians share any of their culture. Most other factions have a direct decendent in the later games, bar the Nords and Battanians. Some of the Rhodok, Forest Bandits and Vaegir Archers are most likely long decendents of the Battanians cultures. Sturgians become the Vaegirs sometime before or after the Nords push them out of the east. It can be assumed that some fleeing Battanians take their love of the bow there and the two cultures morph (The Sturgians aren't a ranged heavy faction in game while the Battanians are the only foot bow faction)
The Battatians seem really Celtic and barbarian, I like that but I want more of a germanic kind of barbarians rather than Celtic, like Alemanni and the Franks, rather than the Celtic Britons , you might say the vlandianns, they are very similar to Norman's, Norman's at first were Viking raiders who settled, Vlandianns we're raiders who Also settled, they both had good cavalry ( Norman's had good infantry too so I'm assuming the vlandianns Will HAVE good infantry, just not there pride units ) And I think the Empire factions are kind of mixed, They seem both Roman and Byzantine, I'd much rather have Roman though, I don't think Bannerlord Will HAVE a set period in medieval culture it's based on, rather just taking amix of the fractions that existed in that time and threw them together for an ultimate showdown Edit: And I forgot to mention, Battatians could also be a mix of Celtic Barb's ( archers ) and Germanic Barb's ( infantry )
The Sturgians are based on the federation of city-states known as Kievan Rus, located in today's Russia, Belarus and Ukraine www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/39
I just want my Vaegir boys back, ya put in romans and celts but not my Slavic boys in ya fucks. Sturgia is more Nordic with minor Kievan Rus influence but it’s not the same. Tbh I hope there’s factions around the sturgia/battanian/ and sturgia/khuzite areas where you can form your own early vaegir nation (not too knowledgeable on the lore, I heard many theories but I don’t know what to believe). I need my Slavic scythe pole arms and I need my proto Hussars, then I’ll be happy.
Ma namma jeff

oh yeah well my name is Konig Harlus! Konig of ZE BUTTER!
no
Vlandia = Vandals.
For sore reason I dont think that your name really is Jeff.
Battanians probably were wiped out as there is pretty much no reference to them in Warband. Maybe the forest bandits that reside in Swadia's borders are the last remenants of them?
i guess
Totally agree with this. In lore, it is explained that the Vaegirs have invaded Calradia long before any of the other factions spew out.
i think imma make a lore vid on this
Maybe the remaining people just hide themself in the woods for survival. and became this kinda banditry people? + normal bandits
WisePictWarrior it's almost Swadia harvesting season

I think that some IGN single player gameplay is coming this Thursday
how do you know ?
yeah but IGN sucks.
Whats the source?
I am not The Walrus not a normal Dev blog this week and IGN recently showed of 30 secs of unseen gameplay looked like it was from single player

Oliver Moody Either Germanic, Iberian or Celtic
TheCivilizedCelt Probably celtic yes
Definitely not Iberian or Germanic lol. Their names are more or less just Welsh (aka, Brythonic Celtic)
Tyler Lammers Interesting, i'll look into it later.
The Battanians are probably indigenous. The Vaegirs are definitely likely the historical Kievan Rus, not at all Celtic
I would definitely like to play the Roman like factions.

Am surprised you haven't done videos on each Clan per faction of bannerlord

I think the Vlandians/Swadians are originally from Balion. It makes sense, geographically.
I hope there will be a game taking place after warband in wich we have to fight against or as the great horde
what about the khergit clan inside of the khuzait

They should put a channel between the sea and the lake in the south. That would give Imperials some naval power.
OMG the character creation is amazing
When did they show the female character creation? link to the video please!
Persian Cataphracts = Ancient Tanks
I don't hear what you say about the western Roman empire
What do they specialize in?
Great video thanks mate
Goddamn i love u resonant.
Do you pronounce the Khergit Khanate, Ker jit or Ker git. I have always pronounced it Ker jit because I think sounds better.
someone should write a lore page on how Resonant should pronounce Swadia. it's not Sway-dia, it's Swah-dia
That’s right lad, we are Swadians not Swaydians, „pronounce it German“
Dose anyone know what the name of the song is in the background?
For some reason I am very confused. Bannerlord 2 is before Warband, yes? Or have I been wrong this whole time
Before with 200 years

Slavic peoples originally came from Nordic peoples who settled in the Russian area, so sturgeons may divide into the Nords and the Vaegirs later on.

who the fuck are you?
we just need a release date at this point
The Sturgians are based on the federation of city-states known as Kievan Rus, located in today's Russia, Belarus and Ukraine www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/39
Calradian empire is like Byzantium.
3:30 kinda looks like benedict cumberbatch
lmao
vaegirs are Kievan Rus - slavs
britania - england
It's coming out today boyz 30.03.20
Nords are the ones for me..... Come on being viking like is badass
nice time to use the cheats again :D
That raises a question. will cheat codes make it's way in bannerlord in these dark times of DLC's and microtransactions?
I hope so
They are :) I saw it in a gameplay trailer, the guy was regenerating health rapidly during a siege.
I've given up now... Wake me when it's actually released...
The sturgians are the vaegirs :L and the nords came from them
Agree, the nords landed lather and it says that they tried to conquer Rivacheq when they landed but the vaegirs defended
Epic
Gueilla is not best for Cavalry uhm that is so wrong in so many ways. Cavalry struggles with hills and DENSE woods as they cannot charge.
Michael Irizarry I know this was a long time ago, but he what he meant was that in Guerilla warfare, cavalry is not the best
You have same voice like thelolhounds
This game is a prequel
