      I switched to pixal 6a from Xperia Xz2, believe me I couldn't tolerate the pixal and even being the stock Android, the pixal keeps lagging occasionally.
      Xperia xz2 being 5 years old still does not lag.
      I am going for Xperia 5v again.
      Fyi currently using Xperia 1 ii and sold the pixal 6a within 2 months.
      Moral of the story is that if your hardware is bad then no matter how much software support and updates you provide. It kills the overall experience.

    being someone who has used LG V series phones since the V20, and being currently stuck on the V50 due to LG pulling out of the smartphone game, I was eyeballing Sony phones as a potential viable upgrade and with this generation I finally feel like it's a viable option to move into coming from an LG flagship.
    It has the camera options with manual controls, it has quality enough components all around, and it has that little side menu popout that gives you access to some QoL quick access stuff similarly to how LG had their little popout menu.
    Coupled with a high enough quality headphone jack and expandable storage it seems to be the only real replacement for an LG user like me.

      Totally agree with you sir. As a former LG G2 owner and currently a LG V50 Thinq owner (Verizon Version, but living in Greece) i also think that the best alternative to a LG phone is something from Sony's line up of models (10V, 5V, 1V). It seems that 5V is overall the best balanced one of all. Definately should try it.

    5 III user here, The 105mm telephoto is very useful (although its sensor isn't great, it's way better then not having one). I understand that the 5 V's digital zoom is probably almost as good as the 5 IV's more anemic reach, it's a shame they nerfed the telephoto in the 5 line. Between this and build quality issues in experienced with my 5 III that were fortunately covered under warranty, may be looking elsewhere for my next phone. If only there were a reasonably sized flagship device with a telephoto and a headphone jack!😢

      Yeah i am in the same boat as you. I also have an Xperia 5 III but i am actually super happy with it. And i am a bit affraid that when the time to upgrade will come, the 5 lineup won't be as feature complete as it always been. I loved that Sony didn't cut too many corners with their lower tier flagship and basically just made it more compact version only. I use to Z1 compact back in the day as well and i loved it. Now it seems that they are walking in the footsteps of Samsung and similar phone makers who have one Ultra grade flagship and then cheaper grade flagship with many compromises and cut corners. If only smaller and more reasonable didn't always mean worse.

    I'm glad Sony are doing more to differentiate the 1 and 5. The 5 should be markedly cheaper than the 1 to make it appealing to a wider audience. The removal of the telephoto is brave, but a Main+UW is the same setup as the non-Pro iPhones, which doesn't seem to inhibit them. My one gripe with it is the width. The bezels on the side are awkwardly wide, but if that extra width is required to fit the large battery, then that's not too bad. With good marketing from Sony and promotion by carriers, I think it could do quite well.

    • @ryannguyen0206

    • @camjkerman
      @camjkerman 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@ryannguyen0206 It's more complicated than bezels/price at this sort of size. It would be unreasonable to develop a new display to fit in a chassis that's actually only 1mm wider than last year's, and if that extra mm has enabled them to fit a larger battery, then it's really no biggie. That battery will last longer per charge, and give a reliable full day of use for longer as it degrades from it's higher starting point. The real controversial thing with the 5V is the lack of telephoto.

    Ive been a dedicated sony phone fan for maybe 10-15 years. The only thing that really bothers me about sony phones and its cameras are the insanely slow shutter speeds that are chosen in automatic / regular photo mode, especially in darker scenes where you dont want it to force night mode.
    I cant begin to tell you how many times ive needed a quick photo and the shutter speed was so off (even the automatic ISO) that the photo was basically useless. =/ i sense that happening here with this phone. Idk, but i feel like whoever is making the backend stuff needs to figure out how to make these light sensors read better.

    • @vladimirkraus1438
      @vladimirkraus1438 11 месяцев назад

      @@namelesssnitchy I very much like Sony because of the natural look of the photos. It is the only brand that really captures the scene as it is (mostly). All other brands oversaturate, oversharpen, artificially flatten the photo using too much HDR (calling it a good dynamic range, but the photo looks ugly)... So I am now choosing between 5 V and 1 V. I prefer the compactness of 5 V but I lack the medium telephoto... Well, well, well... It is hard to decide. If they put 3x zoom instead of ultra wide lens to 5 V, it would be the obvious choice for me.

Please make a proper compact flagship at a higher price if you have to and introduce Xperia 7 if you want a lower spec Xperia 5. Having no storage options, except for sd cards that makes the android phones laggy beond usability, is a no go.

    Looks okay, but a bit sad about a true Telephoto lens going away. It is a bit odd how undecisive Sony seemed regards 5 series Telephoto. It is *wild* that they went 60mm equiv. on the 5-IV, less than the 5-III or 5-II !
    24mm is still too wide for a main camera as well, especially with a missing telephoto.

    Smartphone makers in general should've removed the ultra wide lens instead of telephoto. Ultra wide lens with lower resolution and smaller sensor is kinda useless. You can't squeeze enough viewablw details with such tiny lens and tiny sensors simply because of physics. It works well with bigger sensors with larger resolution but not on smartphone cameras.
