This should not be surprising other than that Sony has applied advanced bokeh simulation in the design of its Alpha system pro grade G Master lenses over three years ago, in order to combine the traditionally conflicting parameters of high resolution, and pleasing bokeh.
I think Sony was intentionally putting bad software in their phones 😂 they did that with their alpha cameras too, and then when noone expected it. Boom Bye Bye Nikon and Canons. 😂😂 So probably 1 VI or heck even this one would be where Sony puts in the effort
That bokeh mode is actually very impressive. I'm waiting for bokeh simulation to recognize distance, since objects further away will be more blurry. Maybe this can be done with a time of flight sensor?
The bokeh mode on Apple does this well. The Sony one is also not too shabby but the bokeh is way too much for certain shots. Hopefully it can be adjusted?

That Bokeh is impressive. Hope one day Sony would be known just like Pixel are known for its smart photography. It's about time already. We can't have another innovator leaving the field.
Are Pixels really known? maybe so but I think they don't sell much and they have not a global presence. It is more like advertisement for Google or Alphabet. The issue with smartphones is that they are disposable, even if they still work perfectly fine the apps that are needed will stop working, so innovations only are gradually adopted when economics allow it, but spending too much money into a device that will be outdated after a while doesn't encourage to support innovation, an innovation that looks artificial when I compare my amazing cellphone to the natural results of my old and cheaper Fujifilm X100S.
Oh yes, I would love to see a comparison video between 1V and 5V. Especially night shots (they now say that the new layer structure of the sensor makes them even better than in 1V) and if the 400€ extra would be justified by the zoom lens in 1V, compared to the "sensor tele" (that's how I call it) in 5V.

@@curtis24-7 I guess the 5V would be the better option for you then. The 1V is rather tall, comparable to a Samsung S22 or S23, but less wide.
