Oppenheimer delivers on many levels… but we still had some gripes. Let’s us know what you thought about it in the comments! A perfect 10? Or a great film with a few flaws?
I'm thinking I don't wanna watch 2 middle-aged Incels suck each other off on RUclips
@@john-lenin because that's what you'd rather be doing?
Yeah, I think that's what's missing in today's movies- complex, contradictory, and nuanced characters being represented on BOTH sides. The reality is people on either side of the political spectrum (with varying ideologies) have good days and bad, have people who love them and people who hate them, they'll tell lies, run red lights, and then give to charity and show up for their friends...that's called being HUMAN. It's a reality that's missing in storytelling and that's trickled down into culture and society. That's the power of movies and I appreciate you guys pointing it out. Great review!
Really well produced video guys!! This was a great flick
Yeah it was definitely a high point in cinema this year. But there’s no point in having a review show without taking a couple jabs. 👍🏻
this movie has a Josh peck jumpscare
Again fellas, im right there with you on the overt villainous nature of pro American hegemony character. I too LOVED Casey Afleck (and how the film prob suggested he Killed Oppies sidepiece) Matt Damon stole every scene as well. The cast was AMAZING. I didn't even realize that was Josh Harneet. What I do disagree with is how you can give both this and "Sound of Freedom" and this movie a 7.5? Cinematically, script, cast and production value, was (I believe and I think you do too) far superior on this one. For that reason alone, id think this one deserves a 8 or 8.5.
Excellent review guys. I did enjoy Oppenheimer, it was a tad pretentious in places but overall a great film and a terrific antidote to all the crappy flopbusters that woke Hollywood is now paying a heavy price for.
….p.s. I think many viewers would love to hear your opinions on great movies from the past, I know I would watch any retrospective reviews.
Thanks, dude! Definitely refreshing to see something like this in theaters. Speaking of retrospect... we have our first video in the works that isn't just about a current film. Stay tuned.
@@hardcutreviewsno way!!! Cant wait for this
I expected an excellent review and was rewarded , have not seen it yet waiting to see it in IMAX, hoping it’s up at Dunkirk’s level, which I did enjoy, I beg that it’s not weakened by revisionist history of Hollywood. The bomb was brutal but so is war and we didn’t live then, no need to judge by todays standards. Thx gentlemen!!!
Thanks! Hope you were able to get out and see it!
this was a lot more fun and easy to watch than tenet. i still dont understand tenet. please do your brain a favor and go see the movie! close your eyes at the nudity if you need to!
Still haven’t been able to sit all the way through Tenet.
@hardcutreviews there's a reason it only has 70% on rotten tomatoes haha. The plot does its best to scramble your brain.
For me, it was such an unpleasant viewing experience.
Music was playing for like 98% of the movie. Characters go back and forth quickly saying their lines and then it cuts to the next for it only to repeat again. It was often hard to hear what was said because of the background music.
You don't have time to digest what's happening. It was especially bad for the first half of the movie, 2nd half was only a little better in this regard.
The use of Black and White was confusing. In almost every other film, black and white means in the past. In this film it was the most current or 2nd most current time?
I had very little respect for the film because of the above.
Definitely understand where you're coming from with the music/sound/audio. If you sneeze, you've completely missed 3 important lines.
That's a good point about the b&w footage. Usually it represents going backwards but this was the future. Not sure what the thinking was there. Probably because less of the film took place in that specific time period and they had less b&w stock then color. Nolan and his shennaigans.
Dude you summed up my exact feelings exactly. You watch a really good movie and there are actual scenes of dialogue and acting that completely draw you in. Every "scene" in this movie felt like a montage segment. The constant music that NEVER stops to let you take anything in was so annoying. They act like this is some smart movie but it plays like a movie designed for idiots with no attention spans
Yes! I get so excited when you guys upload! And when its a movie I'm highly anticipating. Watching it tomorrow can't wait, and for the review later
The film is definitely an experience. Let us know what you thought!
@@hardcutreviewswatched it just last night! Absolutely loved it, very dark, incredibly thought provoking. One of Nolans best which is saying alot
I must say I strongly disagree with describing anti-bomb sentiment as 'commie'. I think the film's dislike for the bomb, as well as a lot of anti-atomic weapons sentiment, is based on existential terror at the sheer fact the human race would make something like this and use it. America wasn't wrong for making the bomb, the whole world was. No side of the political spectrum, under any circumstance, should support the use of nuclear weapons again. To do so would be the end of human civilization.
I think the movie overall had great pacing. For a movie that's 3 hours, it flew by. I had to really pay attention to the movie because it was easy to miss important dialog. I feel that's one of Nolans flaws, too much information being thrown at you at once i.e. Tenet. Great review again!
Thanks! Yeah, despite its length and density, it somehow kept things moving and engaging. But we know we missed some stuff with everything being thrown at you.
Boys are dropping heat. Keep us the good work, fellas.
🔥
Maybe I missed something. What is with the word “cucked” with you guys?
It’s a criminally underused insult… and it’s funny.
Jewheimer😅
The movie was kinda….. not good. Very overrated. The sex scenes were extremely stupid too, basically ruins the rewatchability of the film completely.
I agree about the sex scenes, especially the one in the deposition scene wtf? Still an enjoyable film though.
I wouldn’t say they ruined the rewatchability completely but they did feel out of place. The movie overall was lacking in the emotion department and that was felt the most with both female love interests.
@@hardcutreviews I think if they would have made this movie more like a movie like "There Will Be Blood" where Oppenheimer is seen as a villain instead of a sympathetic man, it would have worked much better. Oppenheimer himself was not a very good or moral man, and neither were many of the people around him, especially his choices in women. I believe that is why there was no emotion because it's hard to feel bad at all for him and it feels very forced and cliché.
