This was 'surprisingly' well written and very well produced. Like you've said, quite refreshing. The only thing that really irked me was how Ariadne killed her father, Minos. i think was drove ari to kill his dad was mostly the lie about her killing her brother and the three whole decades she spent being mistreated by her mother because of that, having to suck it up every birthday, also the guilt she felt all these years thinking she was the one to blame for his death (even though she was a baby). on top of that, her twin brother was not only alive, but used as a minotaur and locked up in that cell for 30 YEARS, just so their dad could slay him IN FRONT OF HER him to fulfill a prophecy that wasn`t even interpreted correctly. ngl i`d kill my dad for that if i was in her shoes lmao.
That's true I agree...but wouldn't a defense be that he made her suffer all her life and carry the blame of some accusation? And plus he was willing to take away someone she was beginning to truly know? But well I totally understand what you were trying to say because even when she stabbed him if was so off and weirdly simple.Btw, JESUS loves you so much and HE wants to have a personal relationship with you ❤️✝️
I didn’t know what to expect and then I ended up watching the whole season in 1 day hahaha I loved how the storyline unfolded 👏👏👏 look forward to watching season 2!
My favorite touch was the realization that Dionysus yearned to feel love. I saw it as a deeply moving commentary on the nature of vices and addiction that I hadn't seen before and made him a much more compelling character than I saw him as in the first episode
Prometheus said it was about 3 humans, Riddy, Caeneus and Ari, but surely Orpheus was as important to the timeline too. Loved the show. Goldblum was on top form.
Orpheus served his purpose. His story was played out but Caeneus and Eurodices stories are far from over. Funnily enough Orphy did all that for a woman who no longer loved him back the same way.
@@RisetotheTop Like what? Indecisive about what they truly want from the men in their lives or cowardly with their true feelings when safe and comfortable is not enough? To me Kaos failed to expand on the notion that Orpheus was more in love with his artistic feelings surrounding Eurodices rather than the person beneath the muse.
I’m sad about Netflix canceling the show. It was really good. Also i need to vent because I’m quite possibly a hater but Riddy was pissing me off. Shawty had a traumatic childhood in which her only other parent was put into servitude for entities she didn’t care for. So she found someone who catered to her every whim. But because she felt he was too needy… she falls in love with a dead man whom she’s known all of 3 days… maybe. I’m not gonna even touch the trans thing, cuz it’s besides the point. Like… huh?!?! That man braved hell to get to her and like sure Orpheus is kind of a doofus but like… wow, he loves her fiercely and there just seemed to be no plausible reason that she disliked him. He wasn’t controlling, or mean, he was just kind of a baby but also not really. Idunno, like i said, I’m probably a hater but wow. What a departure from the myth. Anyways, Kaos is great and i hoped another streamer picks it up
I just finished watching it and loved it as someone who loves Greek lore , books and games . Season 2 should introduce more of the gods and show more why they all despise zues cause he was just a power hungry ass. If also more of the titans got introduced as well that would be even better as well. The fall of Olympus was just zues and Hera going back and forth with each other .
Looks like Hera calls Ares (or Hephaestus) in the end, so there's that. I do like the idea of the Titans too and Prometheus is a titan (Idk about the in-universe lore tho)
@@jedodedo well when she handed Midas the dagger to kill his son she did say it was made by one the gods and I’m guessing it was Hephaestus. Ares did work with Hera to overthrow zues a time I remembered that. I forgot prometheus was one of the titans , I’m so use to hearing of cronos and Gaia and the others 😂. But didn’t zues trap cronos in Tartarus , rather than kill him ?
@@Ishmaellllllllllllll they somewhat change the lore to fit the narrative like Zeus killing Kronos and absorbing his soul as well as Hestia being a cat(?) that died… and Persephone not being his daughter with Demeter…
@@jedodedo yeah I realize that , it’s a nice twist on things and to keep things fresh. Cause it’s basically how the gods would’ve lived in modern times
I loved it! The one thing it was missing to me was ending the season with another powerful monologue by Prometheus tying it all together. He has some incredible quotes throughout and I was hoping to hear his words of wisdom, but oh well!
I'm glad I took my time with it. I need to process things and consider what I've watched, and that took nothing away for me. I think it helped me appreciate it even more.
I loved it! The mix of it being a comedy but also having a really good and serious story tied to it made it very enjoyable. I loved the characters and how the Gods were portrayed. It truly felt like how their personalities are while also giving them the modern twist. The representation throughout the series also felt very natural, which I know alot of people care about. Just a very good and enjoyable show throughout and I cant wait for season 2!
Yeah at birth, so Chronos ate them in that order (except for Zeus). That way Zeus could grow older outside of his father's stomach, so when he made his father puke up all of his siblings, he vomited in order from last time eaten to first time. That way their ages switched up.
@@Ambulance_Raccoon at least not as much as Zeus. The way I've read it in different books, was because he simply wasn't swallowed like they were and was able to grow into an adult while they remained trapped in Chronos' stomach.
@mrmojopictures231 Can you point out what myth that is in? All the ones I have read stated that Zeus was the Youngest. Usually, make stressing the point when he becomes King.
Absolutely loved it ❤️ 😀 Reminded me of The Magicians and American Gods with the source of magic being a spring and gods being included in the modern day. Also, a little The Boys with Zeus getting the Homelander treatment. An unstable force of nature with daddy issues that everyone, including his fellow gods, are terrified of. Well done 😆 👍👍
It was fun! I binged it in two days. Jeff G. and Stephen D. are so great! The whole cast is amazing- too cool. Funny, thought-provoking and occasionally violent series. Season 2 will be a must watch.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fun series! BUT... (please correct me if I'm wrong) I didn't recall the elder gods being quite so physical with each other in love or in war. I squealed with delight when Eddie Izzard showed up as one of the fates, and I respect this interpretation of the myths, but if Hera was real, she'd be pissed at the representation of her character in Kaos. Hera was the one who hated cheating in marriage more than anyone. She was the last one I expected to find cheating from the start.
I think it's more to do that these aren't the greek gods in myth. They're people who became very powerful, not personifications of a thing. Really I think the Poseidon affair was a quick way to show dissent amongst the gods and Zeus.
I really loved the show! Same as you, I really didn’t expect much, but once I started, I couldn’t stop watching and finished it in one day. I wanted to savor it more and prolong watching it, but couldn’t really resist playing the next episode 😅❤ Love your review as well! Thank you! Really hoping for a season 2!
Totally Agree, I just completed the series. I was hooked from the get go as i proudly call myself a greek mytho nerd 😂and looking at this totally new and fresh approach was refreshing, coupled with such an amazing storytelling and shifts in tone mid season oooof.
I really liked the show and as a fan of Greek mythology i enjoyed the easter eggs. My theory is that chaos erupts when the humans lose trust in their gods, but on the other hand gods are created by humans to explain the unexplained. I do hope ther is a season 2 and as you said, this is a refreshing show.
I absolutely loved this series, I was so surprised by the quality. Many people have mentioned Zeus, but for me it was actually Prometheus and Charon whose storyline captured me the most. The two actors are outstanding (as are all the others, for sure). Closely followed by the arc of Orpheus and Eurydice. And then, while I was pacing myself not to binge-watch the whole season, Netflix cancelled the show. Gaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!! Why, Netflix, why?? Give the fandom a fucking chance, it was growing so nicely!!! Thank you for your review, I agree wholeheartedly with it. And I also hope that the show gets taken up again. If not by Netflix, then by someone else. This show certainly deserves it!
I did enjoy it a lot, and found myself very worried when the ending was starting because of, well, Netflix. As I am listening along with another reactor to Hadestown right now and knowing the future of Orpheus, I was glad Riddy finally said good bye to him, he might not be cursed to his fate when he fails Hades test. I do think I have to look up Caedus story though, its not quite as in the forefront of my mind.
My favourite part of the Orpheus Riddy relationship what's when he was pouring out his heart, singing his love song about her to the world, on stage and television, and his aide came and told him that she had died. Very poetic.
I do not know, I liked the show at first, but lost its edge for me. They started off strong, but could not avoid the modern story traps and it became derivative. The black and white after-life and souls sucking machine is a bit cliche and played out. However, the casting and production were top-notch and I love Dionysus.
I enjoyed the reveal of Caeneus being trans. Nothing against one’s I’ve seen before, but usually you can really tell before they or someone else, or the show itself reveals it. With this it wasn’t all that obvious, but after you learn it, it makes so much sense.
@@Keiching1173 Yeah it took me a second to really understand what I was seeing. I think that’s what every trans person dreams of, is people not actually recognizing them as trans. Which is kinda ironic, but really does make sense.
Do you think Caeneus is Kaos? if so, then expectantly he will be the key to restoring the underworld as it was (as Hades said) hence fulfilling the prophesy, “Kaos Reigns”.
When I first saw this on Netflix, my husband and I had chosen it, because there was nothing else to watch. We thought let’s just give it a chance if we don’t like it, I watch something else. However, this was absolutely amazing. I love all the characters that were put into place. It was comedic and sad at the same time but without being overly vulgar. It was definitely something I did not expect and thoroughly enjoyed. I hope they have a second season.
This is the most amazing, disturbing, entertaining and infuriating shows I’ve seen and I can’t wait for a season two. Great job all!! I can’t even pick out a favorite character. The plot twists… Amazing!!!!
The fates turned into the Holy Spirit, Prometheus is going to end up as the Heavenly Father aka “Kaos” and dyenasus I think would end up as Jesus or the devil possibly. I think the plot was heading towards shifting of power from Greek gods to Christianity
I cannot get over how amazing this show is! I loved seeing Killian Scott a chance to shine by singing. I think each character was perfectly cast and I really was blown away. Because I enjoyed this so much Netflix is going to cancel it. They seem to be the killjoys of good tv.
I started liking it but by the time of the final episode I was no satisfied to how they ended up changing a lot the original myths. First, WHAT WAS THE BLOODY POINT OF HAVING THESEUS THERE IF HE WAS NOT GOING TO KILL THE MINOTAUR? In the myths he was destined to kill him and take away Ary. They didn’t even mention that he was an Athenian. They could have made him something like a spy who’s main goal was to destroy Mino’s reign from the inside. Even suggest Ary to kill her own father and fulfill the damn prophecy. Second, the story of Riddy and Orpheus was becoming interesting but ended up becoming a complete waste. I really didn’t like how she fell in love with Ceneus in less than what, two to three days? The beautiful story of Orpheus and Eurydice talks about true love and how not even death can’t destroy it but the writers destroyed that idea by making her falling for someone else. I would have preferred Riddy to stay single but keep pushing herself to fulfill her prophecy. Also, they made Orpheus dirty by killing someone and he was meant to be a kind soul that could captivate anything with his music. Now, talking about the gods because not even they save themselves. WHY IN THE HADES IS HERA CHEATING ON ZEUS? AND WHY WITH POSEIDON FROM ALL PEOPLE? Hera is the goddess of marriage and infidelity is a sin to her. She would never commit it herself because it would break her most human factor and important aspect: her jealousy. Poseidon wasn’t that bad but that romance with Hera came out of nowhere. The only gods that save themselves in a way is Dionysus, Hades and Persephone. Prometheus was okey but that romance with Charon was unexpected. This series, which I wanted to see since 2019 started good but ended up ruined. It came from a 9 to a 6. The only reason I don’t completely hated it was because it kept Hades and Persephone’s relationship right and Orpheus was a great character in the end. Also, the world they presented us was kind of interesting but it’s not enough to save this series.
I feel they used the story about Hera and Poseidon, among other gods, plotting against Zeus as the seed for the secret romance of Hera and Poseidon: in the actual myths they were plotting because Zeus is an a-hole, in the show they are simply in love. Still not ok, because as you said, the whole point of Hera is her jealousy. Infidelity is a no no to her. I still can't get over Hestias being a literal bish (female dog) of Zeus. So much disrespect. Are they aware that people still worship these Gods?
Remember that they're not actually gods, they're people that drink souls. They may be gods of something, but it's just a job title given to them. They aren't the personifications of that thing. The Theseus...yea, was a bit annoyed by it but...I dunno, he kinda set Minos daughter on a path that led to minos destruction and the death of the minotaur...kinda. 😂 I couldn't give a fuck about the humans to be honest
This is a really, really, really bad analysis of the show broski. Like, SUPER bad. These characters do not need to act like your preconceived notions of how greek gods should act lmao. They're all brand new, none of that shit matters at all.
@@Justafella991 it’s not a ‘preconceived notions of how greek gods should act’, their behavior and personalities are literally in the myths for you to read, so the analysis of OP is not bad at all. And I say this as someone who actually liked the show
Was it me or was Prometheus straight tricking everyone including the audience bc he made it seem like he was trying to save humanity but really he was just trying to free himself?
Jeff Goldblum really brought it, as what a god would be like with the uncaring, seemingly eccentric and self-aggrandizing personality, A slow burn but worth it due to the fact that it has a lot of ground to cover, very good show. Solid 7.7/10.
Kaos in terms of it's satirical exploration of belief systems is an atheist fever dream and a fundamentalist nightmare. The idea that the Gods need humans more than they need them is a neat touch. Especially with them liquidating and feeding on the souls of the dead to sustain their immortality. Zeus especially. After travelling to the underworld for a woman who married him for the wrong reasons, never loved him back the same way and cheated on him even in death(with Caeneus), the only question Orpheus should've been asking Euricides is "where can I send the divorce papers?". We're supposed to believe that Orpheus was more in love with his grand artistic feelings surrounding Eurodices rather than with her as a person but this wasn't expanded on enough. In Kaos most of the comedic elements didn't land as well as the serious ones because they felt too try hard.
I love this show so much, it became one of my favourites, I love Greek Mythology and It's so fun to see all the eastereggs. And it was refreshing which was everything I needed. And Just, Dennis so cute, and I cried so much when Zeus k1lled him man😭
I just finished watching this series. It was a fun ride. Everyone was good in it. My favorite character is Poseidon played by actor Cliff Curtis I am not happy that there will be no second season. Wish someone else would pick it up.
I loved it. Great cast. I love the change in Orpheus and Euridice's love story and having Caneaus and Riddy be lovers. I really thought she would go back but it shows she has to live HER life for HER now.. Jeff G is BRILLIANT as Zues. and Hera was MARVELOUS...all of the Gods were great. SNAPS TO SUZY IZZARD !!!!! And....I will never forgive Zeus for what he did to Dennis. NEVER. This is a great show.
Loved the show! Can someone please explain how the main prophecy was fulfilled? What exactly was the line they referred to? Is it the one on Zeus's forehead?
In the past shows paid particular attention to average Americans. Which sometimes seemed boring but less offensive. Modern Hollywood is more about themselves ans most aren't ready to witness man love
I’m an Oracle who uses SCRYING to talk to the unseen world. Ariadne JUST showed up in the art, she showed how we live in a labyrinth where they sacrificeeee 7 boys & 7 girls. The white BULL also showed up as a sacrifice but in THIS reading, Ariadne brought the twine of HOPE. I’ve never even heard of Ariadne. But there she was. She doesn’t have a human face. Her face looks like a computer or glass. She has a flower over her dress, because the Corona Borealis is the land of FLOWERS AND THE LABYRINTH. Strangely, Dagon the FISH GOD showed up with a triceratops god from Lemuria. I hope this means Ariadne is here to take away the sacrificesss and suffering. KAOS= K (Zeus had a birthmark of the letter K, which is the 11th letter) KA=12 (a prison of OZ/OS or OSIRIS). Sacrificessss of 7/7 are the 14 pieces of Osiris body
I'm really glad so many people liked this show but it was a struggle for me. Turns out I dont like Goldblumes acting, I couldn't have cared less about everything to do with the dad/daughter/son screaming prophesy ( predicted it almost immediately ) and I'm really tired of the self fufilling prophesy trope. I know it can be explained away by his paranoia and not thinking clealy but Zeus is however many thousands of years old and was the first to somehow figure out how to harvest power from souls ( still makes no sense to me but whatever ) and he controls who gets what godly portfolio and can ration or take away the Meander water so why is he so paranoid? It seems forced. Everything with the Frame and the Nothing was boring because of course thats what was going to happen. I liked Hera and was surprised by the source and purpose of Meander water but hindsight was definitely obvious.
Still trying to understand the Prometheus storyline and what was the actual line that started the prophecy? The wrinkle on his forehead or the cut in a line on his finger??

That's true I agree...but wouldn't a defense be that he made her suffer all her life and carry the blame of some accusation? And plus he was willing to take away someone she was beginning to truly know? But well I totally understand what you were trying to say because even when she stabbed him if was so off and weirdly simple.Btw, JESUS loves you so much and HE wants to have a personal relationship with you ❤️✝️
I didn’t know what to expect and then I ended up watching the whole season in 1 day hahaha I loved how the storyline unfolded 👏👏👏 look forward to watching season 2!
Yeah it took me by surprise!
Celestis, Divinitus, Insania, Vero.
that is now just repeating in my stoned ass mind rn thanks for that XD
Loved that so much
🎶
Kaos is great and it would be a tragedy if we did not get a second season
I hope we do get one!
A Greek tragedy.
@@Senate300in real life also many womenw are like that
@@RisetotheTop Like what?
Anyways, Kaos is great and i hoped another streamer picks it up
This is such a good show, idk how it only got a 7/10 on most critic sites. Definitely better than other higher rated shows i've seen
We haven't seen tartarus yet so I think next season we will probably see the titans. I think they will be part of how Olympus falls
I loved it! The one thing it was missing to me was ending the season with another powerful monologue by Prometheus tying it all together. He has some incredible quotes throughout and I was hoping to hear his words of wisdom, but oh well!
Zeus in this show is similar to Odin in Ragnarok both driven mad by prophecy.
I'm glad I took my time with it. I need to process things and consider what I've watched, and that took nothing away for me.
I think it helped me appreciate it even more.
I binged it. I really enjoyed all of the characters and story progression
Yeah same
Yeah it was a great movie!
I can’t believe Prometheus is fucking Stannis Baratheon.
Done a good job. I enjoyed all the gods, fates, myths...but I didn't really care for the humans all that much.
I recommended this to a friend as "if you liked Percy Jackson, this is a version aimed to adults"
I watched Percy Jackson with my kids last week, and that's what peaked my interest in Kaos. Haha. Good call. 👏
In real Greek mythology, Zeus is actually the youngest, Hades the oldest & Poseidon the middle
Yeah at birth, so Chronos ate them in that order (except for Zeus). That way Zeus could grow older outside of his father's stomach, so when he made his father puke up all of his siblings, he vomited in order from last time eaten to first time. That way their ages switched up.
@@mrmojopictures231they aged inside of his stomach, it’s just that cause he puked them up in reverse order they were given a reverse age
@@Ambulance_Raccoon at least not as much as Zeus. The way I've read it in different books, was because he simply wasn't swallowed like they were and was able to grow into an adult while they remained trapped in Chronos' stomach.
@@mrmojopictures231 probably also because he was raised on Amaltheas milk so it helped him reach maturity faster than the others
@mrmojopictures231 Can you point out what myth that is in?
All the ones I have read stated that Zeus was the Youngest. Usually, make stressing the point when he becomes King.
Absolutely loved it ❤️ 😀
Reminded me of The Magicians and American Gods with the source of magic being a spring and gods being included in the modern day. Also, a little The Boys with Zeus getting the Homelander treatment. An unstable force of nature with daddy issues that everyone, including his fellow gods, are terrified of. Well done 😆 👍👍
@@supernaturalawesome1 Im so happy a person still remembers The Magicians 🥲
With a bit of Succession sprinkled in for the representation of the gods
The Magicians was so underrated
I need to see ari and dyonysis in season 2
This show is really good! I am excited for a season 2 and hope Apollo, Aries, Athena, Hermes and Aphrodite make an appearance!
I loved it! Idk why they canceled it. 😢 0:33
Yeah it's a real shame!
I really loved the show! Same as you, I really didn’t expect much, but once I started, I couldn’t stop watching and finished it in one day. I wanted to savor it more and prolong watching it, but couldn’t really resist playing the next episode 😅❤
Love your review as well! Thank you! Really hoping for a season 2!
Glad you enjoyed!
Totally Agree, I just completed the series. I was hooked from the get go as i proudly call myself a greek mytho nerd 😂and looking at this totally new and fresh approach was refreshing, coupled with such an amazing storytelling and shifts in tone mid season oooof.
I liked Kaos a lot. I wanted to see Zeus' other children like Hercules, Apollo, and Hermes. I hope they have roles in the second season.
Let's hope so!
Everyone was top tier acting but my man Goldblum took the cake. See why he's an acting god... GOAT!
First choice was hugh grant.
I'm glad it's goldbloom, dunno how grant would've done.
it reminded me of the 1996 romeo and juliet in the way that it was shot and overall style of wardrobe and character introductions
Omg I said this to my friend
Also reminds me of umbrella academy. I guess style-wise and anachronisms
Riddy is mercutio ( Michael from Lost) daughter
HOW DID NETFLIX NOT RENEW THIS??!?? IT WAS SOOOO GOOD WITH A GREAT CAST AND PEOPLE LOVED IT!!! I’M SO ANGRY AND SAD
zeus turned into homelander in last episode
Can we have a moment of silence for Denise 😢 , this show reached a level of importance when he died
This was surprisingly beautiful to look at, great acting, and good character development 👏👏
Yeah i'd agree!
Was hoping dionysus somehow found the ability to revive the dead so he could bring the kitten back 😢
Such a sad moment
The fact that i still can’t stand Hera or Zeus is amazing. Because Hera being vindictive with just 10% more self control than Zeus
3:50 there is no Season 2! The idiots at Netflix cancelled the show!!! 😡
I enjoyed the reveal of Caeneus being trans. Nothing against one’s I’ve seen before, but usually you can really tell before they or someone else, or the show itself reveals it. With this it wasn’t all that obvious, but after you learn it, it makes so much sense.
I’m not sure he was ever a girl. More like they hid the gender. Either way it was a great twist.
I just watched another recap and you were right. Love it!
@@Keiching1173 Yeah it took me a second to really understand what I was seeing. I think that’s what every trans person dreams of, is people not actually recognizing them as trans. Which is kinda ironic, but really does make sense.
In the greek mythology he was a women before but was raped by poseidon and choose to be a men instead 💀
@Falderos8729 don't know about every dream since each journey is different and there are various ways of embodying, performing a gender(s).
This series had enough depth that I may need to watch it a second time to catch what I missed the first time watching. Never a dull moment.
Yeah it was a great show!
Prometheus isnt the brother of Zeus. He is his older cousin.
I just finished this show ... I loved it ... I really hope we get a season 2
Same here!
This was such an amazing show- finished it all in one go. We need a season 2
but the season 2 is canceled!
argh.. why..?
Such a shame!
I couldn't give a fuck about the humans to be honest
This is a really, really, really bad analysis of the show broski. Like, SUPER bad. These characters do not need to act like your preconceived notions of how greek gods should act lmao. They're all brand new, none of that shit matters at all.
@@Justafella991 it’s not a ‘preconceived notions of how greek gods should act’, their behavior and personalities are literally in the myths for you to read, so the analysis of OP is not bad at all. And I say this as someone who actually liked the show
I really hope they make a second season. One of the best I have seen in a long time
Yeah it was a great season of the show!

Loved it. Hopefully there will be a second season.
I hope so!
Thanks to Prometheus and Hercules we have the wedding bands origin
This was a great first season. I felt kikd of bad for Orpheus but he was really clueless. He'll just write a hit album about it though and be alright.
Loved it! I definitely binged this season! The character structure was so fresh!
Yeah I agree!
Wish someone else would pick it up.
this was an amazing show!! favorite netflix original ive seen since the crown. a shame that it got canceled. would have loved to see season 2
Just have finished watching it! it`s brilliant, fascinating, and really super refreshing. Binged it)
I took it as Kaos is an actual god, and he manipulated the prophecy to happen.
i just absolutely love the show. Icant believe they dont renew it. it is the best.
I loved it.
One of the best made by Netflix. Hoping for a second season.
Sadly it's been cancelled!

There was also life after death, the form it took was how hades designed it, but it was still there
Love this quirky / fun / weird show! Love the modern rendition of classic Greek mythology!
I found Goldblums Zeus quite unpredictable. Kept me on my toes.
I neeeeeeeeeeed, not just another season, but so many more!! It's too good for it to have been canceled already!
Yeah it's a shame it's been cancelled!
Still trying to understand the Prometheus storyline and what was the actual line that started the prophecy? The wrinkle on his forehead or the cut in a line on his finger??
