as a greek mythology nerd, i love this. as a person with a netflix subscription, i'm nervous.
I know they cancel anything remotely good, well-rewritten or acted after one season .... :(
It’s really good. Well written and acted. Great cast!
I know right… It’s so good they just might cancel it.
It's awesome, the most accurate depiction of Greek mythology I have ever seen!
But it’s Jeff goldblum they can’t cancel the mmmmmmmmmmm king
Love that Hades is NOT EVIL and eldest of the three
Hades: Oh gods, what are those idiots doing now...
They showed that in Percy Jackson like historically/ mythology wise Hades is actually the chilling God like his wife was called the dread and she was more fearsome. Obvs big bad in a lot of shows etc but I like glthat they’re going back to his roots like in PJ he’s cool and calm
And he's the most sane, has a good work ethic, and most reasonable out of all the gods in the show.
There are many reasons so many romance novels feature Hades, including Hades, the game, in which he was just a loving husband and father who was just so bad at feelings and couldn't communicate clearly with his son after his wife left, causing the whole drama. 😂
The relationship between Hades and Persephone is the most faithful of the whole mythos. Hades has no illegitimate children -- I think Persephone would give him the Cronos treatment if he even thought about it -- and he the one god made worse by the modern storytellers who go out of their way to sanitize Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, and the rest.
And yes, there are myths where he is the eldest and was given first choice of the three realms: he chose the Underworld, knowing that eventually every living thing would be his subject.
Lighting candles here so that Netflix doesn’t cancel this KAOTIC masterpiece 🕯️🕯️🕯️ 😭
That's what I said when my friend and I watched. Got to the end was like Whhaat! Then I said, 2 yrs until the next season unless they cancel it.
And that Netflix doesn’t ruin the next season either(if there is)😭😭😭😭
I'll light candles to the nine Muses, as well.
🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯
And they cancelled it 💔
The casting in this is WILD! So many legends together feels very appropriate here! 😅
Definitively.
All I know is Goldblum
The cast is modern day California in a Hellenistic society, so no not wild at all
The casting in this movie is just perfect. I also love how the underworld is portrayed as really burecratic, with Hades as its tired manager - the brutalist architecture and greyscale filter is so aesthically on-brand for such a morbid place, it feels like a business park crossed with a funeral home.
I only wish that when he went to Olympus, Hades could be seen wearing some colourful jewellery that was harder to notice in the aforementioned filter, as a nod to the fact he is the god of gemstones and riches as well.
Really? Is there any actual actors of Greek descent in it?
@@qwertyuiop4624judging by the ppl probably not, most likely another white washed depiction of the world. Funny how ppl haven’t caught onto Hollywood and their white washing yet , except when a black person gets booked for a “non black”part lol. This looks bland as alll hell lol. Majority of these folks look Caucasian American lmao
I knew nothing about this show until this popped off. I am the target audience for this and the marketing had not reached me. 😢 I’ll be watching this immediately!
When is the Sandman returning? It’s been two years. I am waiting for season two.
@@pierrelouis7229Exactly
@@pierrelouis7229october or november of this year
This looks pretty amazing after watching the trailer too
Right! Holy crap I’m totally watching
1:55 him calling all his kids and nun of them answering 😂
So typical, isn't it?
To everyone else he’s ‘dad’ but to Aphrodite he’s ‘ daddy ‘🤣😂😂
Even gods have kids who don't call them!
As a Greek-born, I must say I’m in love with Greek mythology and this show!😍
It was very nice and they did the story fantastic,I really want a season two,to see the other gods and where this story will head!❤🤩
Same. I saw this on Netflix, but thinking to myself "meh another sitcon"
They're clearly setting Ariadne as Dionysus' consort, I'm eager to see it.
@@SantosoWijaya Yeahhh me too🤩
Well if you are a greek born you should also be able to recognise the errors of this show. It's good. But it has a lot of errors too.
please dont cancel this masterpiece please please
This show is definitely one of my few favourites. I look forward to season 2!! The whole concept of this show is genius!
This family scares me. I wonder when we'll have more seasons. Kaos seems to be cooking something interesting with the fates.
Well, yeah, they're gods, of course they're scary!
We humans have come up with some really terrifying deities over the millennia!
There won’t be another season, unfortunately.
The man playing Hades here, played Ares in the 2017 Wonder woman movie... that's funny
He also played an incarnation of Gluttony in Fargo. Thewlis is good at portraying wonderfully unnerving characters.
Yo he's the werewolf in harry potter
@@ferisera Absolutely right !
@@CK-qt8pz Oh wow !
He's also one of the antagonists in The Sandman
Can’t wait for this! 🤩 I am loving the casting choices. Zeus might just be the role Jeff Goldblum was born to play.
Aphrodite is more commonly said to be born from the defeat of ouranos. I wish they kept that as her origins and made her zeus' adopted daughter.
Like if they both got drunk in vegas and woke up the next morning with the paper work filled out for aphrodite's adoption.
Right, thats what I said.
Tho Zeus was a serial spreader he did take care of all his kids, so it would make sense he'd feel responsible for his half/baby sis being born an orphan from something he did, deciding to adopt & take care of her.
Btw, There is a YT vid explaining Aphrodites probable origins as a diety adopted into the greek culture from another culture across the sea.
@@emmettoransky5088 ouranos was defeated by his son kronos. This created aphrodite.
Zeus defeated his dad kronos.
If anything, aphrodite is an aunt to zeus at best. But i prefer to think that shes not in the family tree.
@@HauntedMushroom96 Yea your right. Just got the 2 mixed up. What I was getting at is she definitely is not Zeus daughter. I wish the show kept it canon.
As for the 2nd part, despite what you prefer, she was still kept in the family tree. She is made wife of Hephaestus, and like Zeus got around and as a result had many children, some with other gods/her own family.
@@emmettoransky5088 by not in the family tree i meant to say that shes only in the family tree cuz she married hephastus but beyond that she's not blood related to anyone.
My bad
@@HauntedMushroom96 Aphrodite is Zeus's half aunt bcz she's technically Cronus half sister. That makes Hephaestus her half nephew she was married to.
She slept around which Zeus was fine with because he can't be one to talk & she had a kid with, Zeus son Hermes who would technically be her great half nephew.
And also other kids with other members of the big family, (as incest was pretty inevitable at the very beginning of existence. So of course some deformity outcomes occurred but is described as unique characteristics)
So..yea they are VERY blood related.
I have always loved Greek mythology.
I really enjoyed this new series!
Jeff Goldblum was perfect as Zeus!
Now I want to see the second season!
I know, he's surprisingly good at playing the King of the Gods!
I finished watching the show last night and loved it. I learned all these Greek mythology names because every single time my father was drunk, he gave me that lesson.
Best show on Netflix at the moment. We need a season 2!!!
I love that whenever Greek myth gets adapted , there HAS to be a “ yeah this is Zeus’s kid - ignore the incest “ explanation.
such a great show guys. thank you! i cant believe we have to wait at least 2 years for a second season :(
I watched this in one day and it was so original I loved it!!!
What a fantastic series! Finished it last night and want Season 2 NOW!
1:34 From Ares to Hades, David Thewlis seems to have an affinity for portraying Greek Gods
Netflix, please don’t cancel this show (bc from the track record, you’re quite allergic to actually good shows), they have Jeff Goldblum ffs
I was nodding away calmly- until I realised it was Stephen Delaine speaking, & that just cracked me up...!
The casting is actually SCRUMPTIOUS. As a Greek mythology fan and film fan this is a FEAST
How much did they pay you to say that?? 😂😂
The ESG tokenism was cloying and unsubtle.
The Furies were lunch-ladies larping a Motorcycle Gang, and the Fates were Gender-swapped nonsense (no sense was made)... and everyone is ugly and not entertaining. They broke suspension of disbelief as often as the 4th wall.
ESG-score funded woke trash... not giving any quarter for casting Goldblum. Stupid garbage show and I watched the whole damn thing.
Ok bot. 😂
Such a fun series! I couldn’t stop and had to watch the entire series all at once! ❤
0:11 (bottom row) they almost had characters that all started with the letter A until Hermes ruined it.
Okay Netflix please BRING IT BACK. This is by far one of your best but didn't get enough advertising and room to breathe/grow. =(
The only big problem is that Aphrodite isn't Zeus child, its his aunt.
She is in some versions
In Homer’s mythology she is the daughter o Zeus and Dione
@user-tp9uw1pr6m It would be more fitting though if she is actually older but just tries to look "young and beautiful"
@@DemosApollo yeah that’s true especially in a modern setting. I mean could you imagine Aphrodite with botox injections 😂
In Hesiod's mythology, she rose from the foam where Uranus' genitals were thrown in the sea (severed by Kronos, his son). Kronos was the father of Zeus.
I don't know why but Jeff Goldblum as Zeus is on point actually!
You could also create flashbacks of classic stories ?? You can create an entire season with flashbacks from legendary battles!
Proposed stories to explore:
1) Kronos professy and death.
2) The battle with Typhon(Titan), where all the Greek gods transformed into animals and fled to Egypt. If I remember correctly, Zeus and Athina were the only ones they left behind!
Man I don’t know what kind of mythology you’re referring to…
Kronos doesn’t die since the gods are deathless, therefore they cannot be killed. He was imprisoned in Tartarus. And Typhon is not one of the twelve Titans at all.
Loved the show. Loved the cast specially Prometheus. Need season 2 now.
Renew KAOS please 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️ this show is brilliant! Funny! And the way they stay true to the myths while still keeping it fresh is incredible writing!!!
Yall it took me a minute to get used to this but after the first episode I fell in love with this show lmao. As a lover of Greek mythology this was peak 👍🏾💕
This show was awesome! Uncancel it and give us a second season!
I love this series! Can’t wait until the second season! Please put it out within the next 6 months.
yall better not actually cancel this show I swear to god
I have bad news for you...
Amazing show. Love love LOVE the changes that have been made to the "OG" material. Chef's kiss 🥳
I just wanna comment this cause there seems to be some confusion with people who are uhhh not super into greek mythology (no offense) but YES in some iterations Aphrodite is the daughter of Zeus. She has 3 epithets, the one that is most often portrayed is that of Aphrodite Ourania ("The Heavenly Aphrodite"), there is also of course the more war-like side of her Aphrodite Areia ("Aprhodite the War-Like) which to my knowledge is a trait carried over from the goddesses Astarte, Ishtar, and Inanna (all goddess' of love, sex, beauty and warfare), and finally the Aprhodite that would be portrayed in Kaos, Aphordite Pandemons ("Aphrodite Common to all the People") this is the only one whose parents are Zeus and his Aunt Dione (Titan Goddess of the Oracle of Dodona) - as for the parentage of the other two, Aphrodite Ourania is the daughter of Ouranos thus making the Olympians her nieces/nephews, the Titans, Cyclopes, Hekatonkheires, Giants, and the Furies are her half-siblings from her father Ouranous, Gaia would be her Grandmother/Step-Mother, additionally Ares would be her grand-nephew x2 as well as Husband (just like his brother Hephaestus) also making her and Ares' children related to her as her great-grand nephews and niece; Aphrodite Ourania and Ares' children being Phobos & Deimos (their sons; personifications and gods of Fear and Terror, iirc specifically the fear one faces before battle, and the terror one has during battle) and their daughter Harmonia (goddess of harmony and concord). As for Aphrodite Areia her parentage to my knowledge is never really clarified all that much, she sort of exists and would have been worshipped by cults, but I do not believe she appears in any myths that have survived at least. Although as others have pointed out there is a missing Demeter which is more interesting actually same as another missing relative Zeus and Hera's daughter Hebe (the goddess of Youth and Forgiveness) additionally there is a missing Harmonia who is the mother of Princess Semele (through King Cadmus) thus yes, making Zeus both Dionysus' Father and Great-Grandfather.
It’s wonderful! Please give us more!
I love this show.
As someone who has studied Greek Philology, this is incredibly well translated into a modern setting.
This is basically just a crash course in Greek mythology.
I love Greek mythology. ❤️
So do I!
I highly recommend reading Hera by Jennifer Saint to learn about these stories from Hera’s perspective!
AS A PJO KID TURNED GREEK MYTHOLOGY YOUNG ADULT I FUCKING LOVED THIS
Are you waiting for the family party scene? Featuring Athena and Artemis (portrayed by a Japanese actress and a Filipina actress?)
I am obsessed with the framing of Eurydice and Orpheus story motifs in this show.
Love it, give me 14 more seasons 👌🏽
Netflix please, renew this series
I can't believe they canceled this. Netflix can't tell a good show from a bad one anymore. It's just about viewership numbers.
So glad to see they put this type of mythology in a mainstream show but bummed they cancelled it. UGH! I was looking forward to more!
Stannis Baratheon as Prometheus is soo good!
this is the first im seeing of this show and now im obsessed
i'm crying this series was amazing
Hera and Zeus also had daughters the most recognisable being Hebe the goddess of youth and also Enyo the twin of Ares
Percy: ...So...
Annabeth: ...Percy, what are you thinking?
Percy: Want to send a DVD copy to Olympus? :)
Annabeth: ...*Sigh* yes!
Great show! Season 2 please!😊
I watched it all in one night and absolutely loved it!!!
Soooo good! Just finished it!
A really excellent show
I love Greek mythology, this show is crazy!!! 🤗
I adore it!! Netflix be sane and keep it alive. If you dare to cancel it,i am cancelling my subscription!
also I am so sad that this did not get a second season
Loved the fates ❤
Thank you for this!
I like how this series shows how messed up greek mythology is😂😂😂
Such a great show. I really hope they make a new season!
Save Kaos and Dead Boy Detectives!
A few gods are missing, which are also bro‘sis of Zeus…
Also, i thought Prometheus is a Titan, so a Brother of Cronos, which makes him Zeus‘ uncle… i love the complexity of greeks mythology family trees!
And i LOVE this show!
Credits to its creators
Actually, Prometheus is Zeus cousin in the myths. He was the son of another Titan that was the brother of Cronos. So Prometheus was a second generation titan.
Don’t bother getting too invested. Netflix didn’t renew the show.
Such a good show fr - recommended to a friend and he actuslly bigned it in a night, i took two
This confirms my vow to never watch a Netflix show until there is some kind of end. I hate getting hung out to dry.
My Sister's Christmas present to me this year was a Greek mythology family tree poster. And I have to say, it looks pretty good.
Where is my girl Demeter????
Persephone mentions her mum so I think she exists in show
I’ll think we have to wait for s2 for more gods. The show runners explicitly said they don’t want to make the Olympic pantheon to cluttered so people without classical education or knowledge can enjoy the show aswell
Maybe they deleted her to avoid Persephone being Hades' niece?
Which wound suck cause Demeter is important. Hestia too
@@Akisa37they mentioned in the show that hestia was a puppy that Zeus had that got hit by a car as an Easter egg
Kronos wasn’t a primordial he was the child of a primordial
A Titan to be exact.
@@brycecarroll9665 yup and in some myths was the brother of Aphrodite
Of course, since she was born from Ouranos’s foam.
Now I love how they gave a perfect cast for Dionysus my fave rave king
1:53 Zeus is not the father of Aphrodite, he’s her brother. She was made from Cronos’ genitalia and sea foam.
The Homer version states that Aphrodite is the daughter of Zeus and Dione while the Hesiod version says that she was brought forth by the seed of Uranus falling into the sea when he was castrated by Kronos. So yep she can be considered a daughter of Zeus and is for sure not a daughter of Kronos at all (technically she is the Titans half sister)
persephone is the daughter of zeus and demeter hope that isnt erased
Which is DISGUSTING!
They didn't erase the fact Hera and Zeus are related, so I think you can rest assured 😂
@@ElizabethMcCormick-s2n and Zeus had two children by her pretending to be his own brother. yes, he had children with his own daughter, who is also his niece
@@ilariaciccarelli8775 I know, gross!
@@ElizabethMcCormick-s2n When looking at Greek mythology, and the gods in particular, is that they are not humans, and don't really have any of the same morality to make such a thing disgusting. Nor do they have any DNA or anything like that, so there isn't any issues about things like inbreeding.
While yes, there are family ties, its easier to look at them as individual entities with no biological ties to each other.
The main morals any of them had and upheld were the laws of being a good host and a good guest, and any morals that were tied to their aspect such as Hera despising Zeus cheating on her because she is the Goddess of marriage.
One of the BEST underhyped MASTERPIECE ever on Netflix. Must watch! Vero 🤦♂️
okay FINALLY my dumb self needed this because I was lowkey confused at some points of the show 😅
Demeter and Hestia: 😑
1:55 Aphrodite is NOT a child of Zeus.
It depends of the poet and continuity Hesiod says it was Ouranos but Homer’s Iliad said it was Zeus
Anyone else here after Netflix, the piles of **** decided to cancel Kaos??
Hopefully this shows that Hades is only sane member in the family while the most f**ked up is zues
I am a SUPER Greek Mythology nerd, and I know A LOT, and I mean, A LOT A LOT.
Most of- if not almost all- the details were correct, but there was a few mishaps in the editing of the video!!
(Also, I hope the show introduces more of Zeus' kids in season 2!)
If you want anymore *specific* information, you can reply to this comment ;)
I enjoyed S1. Ready for S2. It was creative use of Greek Mythology
I can't wait for season 2!
This show is really good! I am excited for a season 2 and hope Apollo, Aries, Athena, Hermes and Aphrodite make an appearance!
Waiting for, Ares,Hephestias, Dionysus, Athena, Hermes, Apollo, Artemis,Aphrodite and Hercules 😂
Loved this show
netflix better gives this show a 2nd season
i love the fact that most of zeus sons are his descendants by their mothers, for exaple dyonisus mom, semele, is daughter of harmonia, who is daughter of ares and granddaughter of zeus. so dyonisus is zeus son and great great grandson
That's some serious stuff
best show on netfliw right now
Can Trixie and Katya review this??
We want Season 2 !
zeus should have been played by nick cannon
Alright you've convinced me, I'm gonna watch Kaos
how you like that?
Let’s get season 2 rolling pls
I'm so confused..... didn't the show specifically say Zeus was not born a god but slowly siphoned power off human souls after learning the technique or method or whatever after killing his own 'tyrant' ( not Titan ) father?
Maybe I misheard or misremembered but I think thats what the show said.
No I think that’s the case, so I imagine yeh they’re deified their dad Kronos etc and their family history but yeh think they learnt to harvest humans gaining their power etc
Yes that's in the show, this video is explaining the actual mythology
omg one of my favorite actors playing Hades?! sign me the HECK UP
cinematically it's quite stunning, can't wait to meet ares and athena
