Gday Az, I’ve watched a couple of videos on the new Ford and to be honest I like yours the best, I take your opinion much more seriously then others, they have gone to a lot of trouble in the conversation to make it right which is brilliant to see, great job mate, cheers

I do agree…. But they’re really designed for towing and not carrying heaps of stuff, Sam asked how come they didn’t up the payload or gvm and ford said they looked at the competition on the market and kept it similar to what they were doing to make it more comparable… which is a fair call. I don’t see it taking too look for companies to have a decent gvm upgrade for them

The F150 (really all the 1/2 ton, 2A class pickups) is positioned as a lifestyle pickup truck in North America. They setup the suspension with this in mind, so it is quite softly sprung and only had D load range tires to make the ride as comfortable as possible. Keep in mind that anyone towing on a regular basis, or towing heavy/hauling is going to opt for a Super Duty. These are very much the entry level into the full size pickup segment. Rather than have customers screw around with GVM upgrades, it would make more sense for Ford to offer the F250 (3,200 to 4,300 lbs of payload) and F350 SRW (up to 4,960 lbs of payload) in the Australian market at a similar markup to that in the US (the F150 Lariat is almost $2000 cheaper than the F150 Lariat with the 3.5 v6). The F250 and F350 use the same cab as the F150, so the interior work would be similar and the live front axle would make the steering swap easier.
