14:18 - Rented a 2WD version for a few weeks. I rode (and been driven) about 3'000 miles and averaged 11l/100km (in eco mode). Still a fan of F-150 but would definitely consider the RAM again - the growl of HEMI V8 is hypnotizing (even at idle).

I bought the Ram 1500 Laramie just over 2 years ago, absolutely love it, once you get use to the dimensions of the vehicle its not a problem, you do have to be mindful of where you park but as far as comfort space and towing ability goes you just cant beet them, I have owned many dual cabs including Fords, Holdens, Nissans, Toyotas and VW's, non of them quite stack up as far as finish, comfort and towing ability in my opinion, the only one that gets close in my regard is the VW Amarok, that's before they teamed up with ford, not sure what the new model is like?
the Ram wont be for everyone but once you drive one for a short period of time it's hard to go back.

Around 13-14 litres per 100km around my local suburb, best I have done is 10 litres per 100 km, that was on a freeway trip to Jindabyne, towing a 2 ton trailer I'm getting between 17-19, all depends on the type of driving and how you drive them, if you drive them hard you will be worse off at the bowser, the biggest downside to them ATM is the cost of fuel its ridiculous, especially premium unleaded which is what I run in mine due to the amount of towing I do. @@diegonaranjo2425

@Kierdziol My '21 F150 XLT has one tonne of payload, it all boils down to how the suspension is designed. The Ram in this video has coil spring suspension, AND is quite heavy being the top trim Laramie. Where as the ford has leaf springs, and less weight seeing as it's an aluminum body. I'd never buy such overpriced trims, I'm a working man... Those paper pushers are ruining trucks for the common man (In the US)

Nice review, and yes, the side mirrors need better conversion. The power is amazing, the ride, the space, wonderful. My kids love the space and comfort.
And you've already done a 4wd and towing test, which killed it didnt it.
It really is an Australian dual cab destroyer, and there's a reason they are growing in popularity even though the price is high.

Paul, I've been told with these RAM's that if you were to lift the bonnet ,have a look at the extension steering rod that is setup for the right side that they've had to fit it for the conversion , so i guess as a result; you get a bit of extra movement in the steering because of that. I guess it's the only way they can convert it properly to right hand drive with the steering rack moved across!

I’ve got a 2022 3500 Laramie with the Cummins. Absolute beast, will tow anything and an carry 1.7t. Have managed 10.8 litres on a trip down the East Coast of Tassie and as a work Ute it doesn’t use much more fuel than my V6 ranger. Once you get use to the size it’s pretty easy to park and is surprisingly nimble. Have had a 1500 but you had to work it harder to get the same result as the 3500, thus using more fuel. I’d sell the house before I had to sell the Ram😁

I owned a ram 1500 dt for 3 years.. it wasn’t built to last. By the end of my short three years I could see where things were starting to fail.
      The paint finish is atrocious.
The conversion method is questionable. Needs to be revved high for towing.
Plastic in the ram box split apart after 2 years and warranty didn’t cover it.
Then spots of rust in the doors and around the firewall from where they butchered the car for the conversion were evident.
Oh and parts of you need them??? Give it a good 8-12 months.
They aren’t built nor supported well enough for the Australian roads. The idea
Of owning one is far better then the reality.

I've owned one for 18 months now and absolutely love it. Poor drivers give this car a bad name by parking it badly. I've never had an issue parking it at coles carpark or malls. Just be mindful of the length and park in reverse where there is empty space behind you and that keeps the nose in the parking spot. I get about 13 to 14 l per km on pretty short runs on a daily basis which i think is really good for what it is. I just wish they came with the optional bigger tank.
I agree with the mirror. Looks like they didn't do a swap on that, which is annoying. Android auto is half screen which is annoying as well. Really would love to figure out how to fix that. Heated steering wheel option is on the left side of the screen. Looks like they didnt bother with a software update for right hand drive. I don't have that wobble in my steering wheel. Looks like a conversion issue.

The Australian channels are the only ones giving the lsd equipped Rams the time of day off road. I'm not sure if thats on purpose or if these are just the trucks Ram is giving you guys for testing. In the US people act like you absolutely must have the rear locker or you won't make it down your gravel driveway. Especially when paired with proper tires, the lsd will still meet the offroad needs of the vast majority of buyers. Of course the locker is still better if you can get one with it.
