33:58 It's a little funny that in Book 5, it's a little implied Alfonse is a bit of a love interest too. He spends most of the book worrying over Kieran like an overprotective boyfriend to the point where Dagr is wondering if they're an actual thing.
Also Kiran take Alfonse place in the dream world or V!Gustav lvl 40 dialogue, and a lot more dialogue. For me, Kiran and Alfonse have by far the best romance of Heroes. And the only one who feel natural...
If Book 9 doesn't confirm them as a ship, I'll be unsurprised, but still sad. It would be way more entertaining than whatever the last few books were smoking
@Winter_SymphonyIt just came out, but might not? I mean Loki is always a weird addition since she teases the two a lot, but I think we'll be focusing on getting one of the gods on our side (the nice one) and working with the small child
One thing that would probably help (and I know everyone has said this but it bears repeating) would be to not waste time at the start/end of maps with nothing dialogue from the banner units every chapter. Seriously for most of each books’ story the only part that matter in the chapters are the first and last maps.
I didn't mention it in the video because I forgot it was even a thing, but early on Xander was treated with some actual importance. Being a surrogate Bruno for Veronica, but they never really took advantage of this type of dynamic with heroes from the series. Huge missed opportunity not inserting Merlinus into every single chapter dialogue after he was added to the game for the authentic Binding Blade experience.
Same that’s what been bugging me ever since I forgot book and i just thought why not just make them actually interact with the environment and other character? And actually build some dynamic off of that? Imagine you’re taken from your home world by this unknown force and it’s forcing you to fight people that want to stop world destruction and the only thing you can say is *standard battle quote* like what???
@@yohann3825 they tried that in book 1 and all they did was make them say "well sorry i have a contract" it was boring, so unless they actually become competent writters i'd rather not
I like to imagine that every time the summoner uses his gun he is actually summoning a hero So every time he shoots at a villian he thinks to himself "Eat this 3 star you filthy casual"
Naw the joke would be the shots are all the 1 and 2 stars and that's why only 3 stars and above can be summoned and why the only way to get the 2 and 1 stars are from those special maps they never made more of.
You got close to hitting the nail on the head. “Sharena is the better of the two” not realizing the point is the irony of Alfonse having closed himself off while fighting for openness, and how much that comes into play. Mainly book 6, but even book 8 is only possible because he’s acting more like Askr again.
One interesting direction they've taken once is that Book VI has *technically* already had a mini TT+, because the group forging bonds for the Depths of Despair banner (2023's fallen banner) had the Askr Trio + Ash exploring areas around the Askran border that were still closed-off. The Fallen Banner units attack the group while they're in a closure, and Ash gets separated, where she bumps into Elm. The two then have to reluctantly work together to make their way out of the closure and escape the evil versions of Chrom, Byleth, Maria and Anankos. It was a surprising, neat, and fresh way to do OC lore and to explore the characters a bit more, and it super-endeared me to Ash and Elm so much, which is why I'm actually looking forward to what the Book VI TT+ might have in store. If you didn't play the event, I'd recommend watching a video of the group events, because it's genuinely one of the best, in my opinion, group Forging Bonds events they've done (for me it's up there with the CYL7 Forging Bonds).
There’s also a really neat Forging Bonds with the 2022 Fallen banner where they show Eitri and Otr working in the past and testing out the summoning, and it kinda leads into the whole aspect of us as the players summoning the heroes.
honestly as a long time gacha goer its kind of fascinating seeing how FEH has gone like I was on ground zero when it released, and this was back when mobile games actually began to take hold, FGO laid the groundwork for mobile games actually having stories so FEH actually stood out to me because of how.... Not Good its story was. sigh. ill always remember you summer freyja
The thing that bothers me about FEH story is that they actually have really potential interesting plots, some even better that some main games, but very very poor execution.
@@Kiferno Right??? Like, the whole Dokkälfr thing, I actually thought that was pretty interesting. Certainly much more interesting that whatever Fates was.
I like the vibe of this video. I will say I think Embla's breakdown in Book 6 is pretty compelling writing. Not that it goes anywhere but I thought it was interesting.
I finally got around to watching this video after having it in my watch later, only for the new FEH channel to show a male OC story lead and Loki being important again(?) instantly after I finished. What are the odds lmao
I always believed that FEH would've been better off as a mainline game. As stated in the video, the game has A LOT of good ideas and does have a good structure, but its executed in the worst ways possible to a baffling degree. Hell, they can even do a warriors spin-off and I think this would've been better off than a gacha game. And with the game having FEH OC's and a decent excuse to utilize characters from previous games. They can actually make a pretty diverse cast. It also always bothers me that we have characters from the previous games present in the story, and yet...they do nothing with them. The only old character that actually stuck around in the story was Xander and they used him about as often as a male feh oc. Why not just have the CYL winners be more involved with the stories if they're the characters that people want to see the most? If they exist in the lore why are they so nonexistent in the story? It would've been cool to see characters from previous games duke it out too, or working together. Like it would've been amazing to see the battle of tactics between Robin and Soren, and the Three Houses fans would've loved to have seen the House Leaders finally working together instead of killing each other. And I can see a funny interaction between Camilla and Micaiah with Camilla influencing Micaiah to be more active and protective in Sothe's life. And just for shits and giggles why not have a running gag that the Robin's both want their Levin Sword's back but Felix refuses to give it back to them because he actually likes the sword. Its so infruiating that I.S has so much amazing potential but they actively hate the series and will intentionally choose the worst options possible to make FE as underwhelming as possible
Heroes would be terrible as a mainline game. A lot of the themes and concepts make no sense in the context of the other games. A number of its characters would be good in a mainline game, but a lot are boring waifubait.
As a sharena fan, the Sharena changeling fact being shelved is so upsetting. they didn't even bring her back for the book 4 exploration tempest trial. Just know as Sharena's biggest fan I've been suffering.
heidr isnt gullveig though, shes the child that got spawned in after gullveig and the summoner had the child ritual at the end of the timeloop, after gullveig send the summoner back to the start of the loop, she sends heidr even further back so she can grow up with seidr, so she can, in the future, become the key that awakens gullveig once more. So she is in fact, a daughter of gullveig and the summoner, from another timeline but ye shes basicly required to "awaken" gullveig, so youre basicly correct.
@yohann3825 It was there in one of the chapters in the book, I forgot which one nor do I care to remember. She is the child of what's her face and Kiran. I don't blame people not remembering that, the book was pretty forgettable. Also Zethia from Dragalia lost wears the goddess scarf thing better.
I actually quite enjoyed book 8. The backstory of tree man (I am not spelling his name) hit for me. Maybe I’ve just been beaten down to accept subpar storytelling from feh but I enjoyed it more than the last few books
Book 9 is coming my theory is that the end of the Book it will be revealed that the cast of FEH will now been transferred to a future main FE Game so they could be free from terrible writing and pacing (hopefully)
A lot of Heroes' characters have the potential to be fantastic, but unfortunately Heroes is a shitfest that is little more than fanservice and memes. A mainline version with significantly less fanservice and less waifubait has potential, though it would also have to rely less on summoning or else it would suffer from the same issues.
I liked the theming of the Part 8 cast Character Designs with all of them being health experts kinda Hresvelgr - Surgeon Eikthyrnir - Physical Therapist Heidrun - Dietitian/Nutritionist Nidhoggr - Anesthesiologist or Pharmacist (She could be both I said anesthesiologist because She’s often run parallel with Hresvelger But given her lab coat it also says she would work with chemicals and medicine That and her relationship with alcohol) Ratatoskr - Nurse in Training Laerador - Hospital Director or Head Doctor I got a great sense of there personalities to we just seriously lacked character interaction but I can pretend those interactions are real with Heroes Journey 🥲
As someone who's big into fitness, I really liked Eikthyrnir. One, he's sick as hell, and I just enjoy health-focused gymnut characters. He's also the most interesting of the siblings to me and how he's pretty much the most helpful.
One fun aspect form book for you didn't mention was that there was a sorta changeling plot that resolved, that being what happened to the summoner. Spoliers For those who want to know Alfonse during nearly the whole story was actually the Summoner dreaming they were Alfonse (which might be part of why there isn't a very strong reaction from Alfonse during the possible kid Peony and kid Sharena swapped places in the past bit since it's not actually Alfonse), something that kinda came outta nowhere and wasn't really hinted at prior to the reveal, which gets revealed when they find the actual Alfonse asleep in the dream world.
Also i think is hilarious how it feels like the writters just keep forgetting they are writting a story that releases a chapter each two months and only has 13 chapters per arch They keep ramping up the setup per chapter and then boom is chapter 12 and they need to close the whole plot in two chapters
I wish we have OC's from Askr/Embla along with the new waifus even if just to show that other people in those kingdoms care about the plot. Good video man.
46:27 welp, we finally got one male in book 9… which is probably going to be the last or next to last one since they’re in Asgard now, but hey it still did come… shame he legit looks like he could be a female character though
If it wasn't stated in the character bio, I wouldn't have believed it. He legit looks like a girl. Wonder if he was supposed to, but Intsys changed their minds. Welp, time to place our bets, y'all, it's probably means he won't make it out of the chapter alive :v
It's kinda funny how many of them have extremely appealing designs but are unfortunately trapped in the gacha that gives the least shits about it's characters The fact Sharena and Alfonse have so much more personality in the Dragalia crossovers is such a funny showcase of how little FEH really cares about it's characters
And I feel like that if Fire emblem heroes was an animated series, it would be able to hopefully explore the characters way better and idk connect the OCs to each other like Eir talking to Fjorm saying that she will not die, exploring the Poeny and Sharena thing, include Marablis in the story, giving Entri a part in the tempest trails+ events, and letting more male OCs living😊
In all honesty, I consider Book 3 and Book 4 as the sorta peak of this games story telling. Book 3 with all its flaws is one of the best books in the game. Book 4 does have its many many *many* flaws but it does also introduce a new aspect to the series. It also happened to really show that after the events of book 3, the All Father of this games universe saw that Alfonse killed Hel, so more or less Thanos snapped him out of existence. Which itself resulted in Kiran (Us) being stuck in a dream and fabricating that a new Alfonse for ourselves.
I'm a simple girl. I'd buy anything that has alfonse in it. I'm so sad one of the good written FE lord is stuck in a gacha game. I like the fact he calls out how boring he is (though most lords are). He's nerdyness & his ability to use taunt or manipulate by psychoanalyzing is also interesting. Though, I think the exploration of his character is sometimes at the cost of Sharena's screentime.
The most memorable thing about book 8 is that the male OC lived. In all seriousness though, I feel like the story is best when the story focuses on the main lands of Askr and Embala. Even if they end up in another world or realm, it still is centered on what they do there effecting those lands; whether it be death of their leaders, their gods, getting invaded etc. Book 8 started strong with it being a rebellion against the growing peace but then fell down hard. To do a quick rewrite, the tree villain could secretly be against peace because it means far less people would need healing from wounds. I would say my guess is they had to write in the silent hands things to explain why no one before book 8 got healing, but then realized the end of the year is coming and they needed to finish it fast. I don’t k ow what they could possibly do for book 9, but I’m gonna hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
First time seeing your channel, loved the video and happy to see someone whos super into FEH and yugioh as well! Recently got back into FEH after about a 2 year break or so and have been catching up on the story, largely hoping that the old book 4 teaser of Lif and Thrasir would have finally been followed up on. Lol. Lmao. At least I can finally make Nephenee work with Laguz Friend
Man just realized both our world Veronica and Thrasir Bruno dies that's so sad man Bruno deserved so much better he had so much potential man. 😭 I really hope there's a way they could pull a laejgran and revive him in book 6 TT I mean he's a popular oc and he was done so dirty he deserves justice. I mean to be fair Laerded was healer and can't inflict harm since he's tied to a oath that prevent him from inflicting harm on others since he's a healer and the leader of the healing hands so it does kinda make sense although it's stupid it wasn't mentioned what happens if he breaks it cause he did when he snapped but nothing happened. 33:17 Agreed this book literally felt like a whole mess and the obscure ocs of it doesn't help make it better either like the whole plot was so confusing and so bad felt like it's just there for it's hideous fanserivce ocs.
I think you kind of misreported Eitri's motives, which imo were actually pretty salient. Her primary goal was to preserve Nithavalir's royal bloodline, whose sole representative is Reginn. However, since all those coup shenanigans happened, also at the result of Fafnir being summoned to the world because of Eitri, Fafnir would be in line. So, she overcorrects for her own mistake and teams up with Otr under the pretense that Fafnir isn't going to be a problem anymore wherein she's actually trying to get rid of both of them so that Reginn can be the only one up for the throne. Her ending speech is more about how she technically won, and although she wasn't able to summon anything more than extremely flawed husks or fallen heroes, curses the summoner with the knowledge that they are likely the most powerful person in the world. Like yeah, she is crazy, and a lot of the book's events happen because she isn't "all there" and screws up but I found her to be one of the better main antagonists with surprisingly simple and condensed motives. The one motive of hers that kind of doesn't make sense is why she's so interested in summoning in the first place. My guess is she's just one person and doesn't really have her own army, so she is interested in summoning heroes from other worlds and in doing so makes her own job a whole lot harder.
I believe her interest in Summoning is due to the whole "Hit them first before they hit us" mentality that those of a warmongering inclination tend to take in the interest of "defending" their homeland. Given Nithavellir's past, how long Eitri's been alive, and how she exclusively seems to think in the context of a war scientist, it's not surprising she'd be a bit jingoistic.
What pisses me off about Heroes is that there's no interactions between OCs except for special units. I dunno, imagine Plumeria calling the Summoner a disgusting human and then Gullveig starting a fight with her over that because she loves the Summoner, threathening to erase fuck, I dunno... Plumeria herself from existence. And you get to choose sides but then shift into a single lane at the end. That's a example I cooked in 3 seconds of usage of my brain. Imagine what a proper writer could do. But nooo, it's always the same: -We've got trouble! -Allies join -we've got no chance to win -Plot twist! now you have a chance with this magical artifact -"Huh, maybe they're not so bad, maybe they're being controlled" -Someone dies -Peace is restored Can you tell me what Book is that? You can't? exactly. Because they're all the same with different coats of paint. Like give us something. You have 5 maps per chapter, use them better instead of shoving in the new banner guys saying "I am X from Y. I wonder is Z is here." We don't care if it's stupid, at least try to make something interesting. And I hope the last Book gathers all the OCs and makes something cool, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
Same. Book 3 was my fave but i quite liked 8s designs. Story no not at all but the designs of the healing hands hit. Hoping for Summer Hel still 🥹 shes so cute. Also love the quick mention of Fjorms horrible song 😂😂😂
26:18 But she's right???? Ever since the summoner became a piece in all of this, Askr defeated multiple supposed unbeatable kingdoms and foes and killed a bunch of gods, her fear for the threat of Askr was totally justifiable, even Asgard considers them a threat considering what the new book is showing, it doesn't matter if we know the Askr royals won't become conquerors (Tho Alphonse could very well become one since Lif exists and all that), Eitri fearing the chance they do is a good and reasonable thing as the person who had that much info about the world Also she's objectively correct about the "We're not different you and I" thing, it's one of the few times FEH has tried to tie story to gameplay and they hit the perfect spot with it, we use the heroes as tools the same way she does considering we have some villains in our army that are only with us because they literally can't kill us or any other hero
Yay a video about feh writing that makes me happy. Also I'm gonna say my top 5 Favorite FEH Characters. #1 Eikþyrnir #2 Askr #3 Bruno #4 Eir and lastly #5 Sharena. If it wasn't obvious my top 3 should given insight to my type. My I quite love all of them as characters and also in terms of design. They deserve so much better Sharena and Bruno especially in terms of writing. Also Sharena is hard carried by her Dragalia lost writing.
I can't believe the female only free book characters only to be shot down with book 9 having a strangely twink/feminine male be the free unit this time around
I really think that there's lots of potential for a mainline FE game that centers around the 9 Realms with reusing FEH OCs (and even introducing new ones). Groups of chapters would center on different realms and culminate to a final battle. A Warriors style game would also benefit the FEH universe if a mainline game wouldn't work. Imagine seeing the beast transformations of Hresvelgr, Nidoggr, Eithrynir, Heiorun and Ratatoskr in full HD and detailed graphics? Or even seeing the Askr and Embla book 6 conflict unfold. Honeslty these OCs in my opinion have so much more to offer and its a shame that we don't get to spend too much time diving deep into their character traits, personalities, pasts etc. That's where a more mainline game through support conversations and longer story cutscenes and dialogues would come in. But Heroes has been introducing really cool concepts, just shitty execution.
Great video, I enjoyed how you deconstructed how badly FEH handled its main stories. One of the main reasons I want this game to die nowadays. On the other hand, I suggest/recommend as a follow up to this video, to also examine the FEH stories offered in the Dragalia crossovers. I say this because those give more of what you would want out of FEH, especially character development.
Veronica wasn’t used to coerce IS. She was always leaning toward becoming a hero. Gullveig’s path was decided before the vote. CYL doesn’t do anything. It’s a great and fun poll but using it to get IS’s attention is a consistent fail. After Gatekeeper, he didn’t get any silly alts. At most we can thank him for his legacy of…brigand boss being playable. That’s about it. CYL is a fun poll for the fans, it’s a great time. The outfits are cool. It doesn’t change the narrative though.
I feel like this world and its characters could have made for an interesting mainline game story if it hadn’t suffered the gacha treatment. A new journey across the nine realms recruiting all the different realm races trying to stop a great threat like say the All Farther, Ragnarök or both. Yeah maybe it sounds cheesy but I can picture it in my head anyway. Also 4:00 I agree I used to complain about how hard the early days of the game were…..but now I just wanna die whenever I even open arena.💀 Seriously whoever’s idea it was to give Brave Felix 3-4 actions in one turn was smoking Datura.
well in the future. They just made a male OC protag in Rune in book 9 soo maybe they will actually do something story wise now they actually using Loki and Thorr for something
@RenegadeRedoer and we never see heidr again after that like wtf man IS forgot she exist Gullveig got Saved and all 3 Gullveigs exist in one person being seidr but we can't save our child. Even thou the way it happened was forced upon us but still.
Every year I'm more and more thankful Heroes isn't canon. Even Veronica in Engage makes it clear that FEH (as we know it) isn't canon, and is more of something that happens disconnected to everything else, which I'm thankful for considering how sloppy FEH is. Also, probably one of the most annoying things FEH does is kill of characters left and right. That, and Seior's weird obsession with Kiran and wanting a child with him. Both those things burnt me out so much with FEH.
So maybe I headcanon it but thought the deal with Læraðr is that the healing hands literally could not attack people. That's why he had to kill himself to make a clone that could kill the evil king. I mean it's still of case of he's gone crazy tho.
I joined in Book 7, but the only things I liked about Book 7 and Book 8 was Kvasir (just Kvasir, and only because I like her little hoodie and red boots. They're drip, but I respect it) and the Book 8 castle design. That was it. I can't wait for Book 9 to be all about waifu mermaids and a Book 7 style story 😭
I'll be real, I stopped bothering to play the story missions after book 6, and even then, I was barely able to get myself to do book 6 itself, so I'm kinda outta the loop on what's happened with the story.
I lost interest after Book 4 when I realized they were never going to give me a male OC that's a free unit to have. It's always the waifus with big boobies or a child-looking female OC. I grew tired of it. Fjorm and the 3rd book girl (forgot her name) were the only well-written ones to me.
@@_Just_Another_Guy Well I guess they finally did what you wanted, even if it took them, what 8 books after the last time they did it via Alfonse to do it now that they've made Rune.
I started playing heros this month and when I got to book 3 I had a moment of damn, is the story in this game actually kinda decent? Glad to know, well not glad to know, but it checks out that book 3 is the exception
Ugh, I hate feeling like I'm the only defender of Book 2. I see people praise other books for stuff that Book 2 also had, just not quite as overtly or as much of, like how Surtr's mindset and way of rule influenced the lives and mindsets of his generals, as well as making both Fjorm and Hrid a LITTLE too eager to consider active suicide missions just for a *chance* to kill him. It's simpler than all the following books, but it's not as nothing as I so often see people making it out to be. Plus, Surtr's active sadism is infinitely more interesting in any scene than Hel ever is.
If FEH dies I would love to see a game with the same name, were all these characters and the book themes create the real story of Fire Emblem Heroes. Once more we are the summoner that came from earth to Askr, and similar to Hogwarts legacy, we can customise our character.
Heidr is not the same person as the others... And Seidr didn't get her powers from nowhere... Bro, I think the reason why people hate book VII is cause they didn't fucking read it.
What I never got is why the community calls them OC’s as if they were made by some random on the internet, I’ve never seen that with any other game like Mario Super Mario OC Marth Fire emblem new mystery OC. it’s weird.
I guess because they feel less real than all the mainline characters, only coming from the crossover. I could see smash fans calling master hand or tabuu "smash ocs"
I actually don't mind one-dimensional villains. I think modern literature's focus on ambiguity and grey morality does not lend itself very well to impactful writing. It's also pmvery mich played out. One-dimensionality is great when the story is great. I also liked book 7 and think it gets more of a bad rep than it deserves. Book 8 is just utterly boring but 7 is actually engaging and interesting. Sure it has its holes but I don't mind the focus on the MC as well as classic themes of overconfident gods, etc.
One dimensional villains work when they're actually entertaining and/or still "make sense". It's why in the case of Hel I don't care that much about it in a vacuum, and with Lif and Thrasir, you still get actual substantive writing. It's characters like Surtr where I'm left to just see him as a narrative tool and not a genuine ruthless monster.
@@RenegadeRedoer I was speaking more generally. For example Lord of the rings is often criticized nowadays for black and white writing but it's simply leagues above almost all its critics. One dimensional villains must make sense and have internal logic, yes. So I agree Hel works definitely better than Surtr. The point was just made to be more general as I've heard "multi-dimensional" being equated with "good" way too often in my life. I do have to disagree with Book 7 though. I'd definitely rate it higher than 8 and 2 just for it being much more interesting. And personally it appealed more to me than parts of 5 and 6. Feh in general could benefit from more fleshed-out-stories. In theory they should have plenty of time and budget. Unfortunately the tempest trials also don't fix that issue.
Book 9 trailer just droped and frankly its umm...Well I don't have positive things to say about so far. Except the new free unit is a male oc so there is that.
It says a lot that the game sounds infinitely more interesting from a wry summary than the actual story in it. I'll be honest, I could only follow the story in the game up until book 3, both due to burnout with the gacha elements and with the unengaging storytelling in the game itself.
It was clumsy, but I still like Book 8 WAY better than Book 5. The latter was pretty easily the absolute worst for me. I didn't care about the story or any of the characters
In summary: Heidr is afflicted with what’s called the “Golden Curse”, which transforms whoever is afflicted into Gullveig. Had she not have been killed, she would’ve likely became the next Gullveig (since our Gullveig is from the future). But, since we killed Heidr, Seidr was afflicted with the curse next. Which is very confusing the more I think about it, since I believe Seidr was going to be Gullveig anyway? Idk, I haven’t touched Feh since January 💀
I think despite how much I enjoyed playing Fire Emblem Heroes in the past, I never even cared for the story after Book 1. Now watching this entire video, I realize I am not missing much. I think Im done with FEH in general, I have more fun with Pokemon Masters EX now, another Nintendo gacha, the story in the game is way simpler and easy to get into It and the characters are very fun as well. FEH have a better gacha system and gives way more resources than Masters EX does, but in the end, I wanna play a smartphone game that actually feels fun and not hard to understand and FEH got so convoluted that I dont wanna play it and the characters design got worse imo
Maybe i'm in the minority here but I wish Heroes had more OC's to flesh out the world, a villager, some retainers maybe just fill out all the archtype's FE usually has. The whole Sharena/Peony thing still bugs GRETALY me though, Book 4 had so much potential. I know it's been a bit since that story arc ended and the writing's not really gotten much better but god it was so stupid and unsatisfying, so I hope you don't mind me ranting here for a sec. They go on about how thhey're "Two halves of a whole" and how it basically doesn't matter cause they're so similar but... ***NO???*** One of you's a goddamn Princess of Askr and I'm pretty sure the people of said country would be distraught knowing their princess had been replaced at some point? But even in the first place this is such a NON-Mystery, only one of these two looks like a younger Henriette for one thing but then there's the fact that being of Askran blood means that only one of these girls can **open portals to other worlds.** Like I was totally convinced Sharena was a literal negelected child in-universe too due to how her parents treated her in Book 3 and that's why nobody really noticed her and Peony switching places, also why she wants so many friends and that this had some nuance and actualy story Just... UGH, there's just no good writing in this whole thing. Sorry, okay it's done, it's out of my system now.
Bruno's death in book 6 was so sudden and passed over so quickly that I honestly thought it was fake out, but then it wasn't, lol
I think IS forgot that episodic stories can still have call backs to previous episodes
I wish these characters weren't trapped in a gacha game
I wish these characters werent trapped in FEH - in FGO they'd be interesting

Love the Tearing Saga PFP
@@RenegadeRedoer Lmao, also they misspelled Fjorm & mispronounced Laegjarn.
I like to imagine that every time the summoner uses his gun he is actually summoning a hero
So every time he shoots at a villian he thinks to himself "Eat this 3 star you filthy casual"
Naw the joke would be the shots are all the 1 and 2 stars and that's why only 3 stars and above can be summoned and why the only way to get the 2 and 1 stars are from those special maps they never made more of.
This game really said: No male OCs allowed except pretty boi Alphonse and deer-bara dude.
They even killed off Bruno, the actual hot one.
And a small child(?)
Me a female who plays the game: NOOOOoooooo!
@@mattiasrhawi3361 ohhh I think I remember that!
"Fafnir breaks it down" as fafnir is seen in the background, breaking it down 21:00
Sorry but you forgot that Dragalia lost gave The FEH OC's characterization as they bounced off the Dragalia lost cast. R.I.P. Dragalia lost
Funny how a different title actually treats their guests with more respect than their parent title does.
That Ratatoskr running toward the bench joke made me choke on my drink
honestly as a long time gacha goer its kind of fascinating seeing how FEH has gone
like I was on ground zero when it released, and this was back when mobile games actually began to take hold, FGO laid the groundwork for mobile games actually having stories so FEH actually stood out to me because of how....
Can she break it down as well as fafnir tho?
That day, someone was divine inspired
@@AmirPrinceling Simple solution: Do a FEH Warriors game.
Then revive Lianna and her lemonhead twin brother from the other FE Warriors game.
As a sharena fan, the Sharena changeling fact being shelved is so upsetting. they didn't even bring her back for the book 4 exploration tempest trial. Just know as Sharena's biggest fan I've been suffering.
Got to the end of the video and i see you are also a man of culture. We were robbed! some day they'll look at Sharena again.
It's very funny to me that 2 days after posting this we got book 9 info with the new oc being male
heidr isnt gullveig though, shes the child that got spawned in after gullveig and the summoner had the child ritual at the end of the timeloop, after gullveig send the summoner back to the start of the loop, she sends heidr even further back so she can grow up with seidr, so she can, in the future, become the key that awakens gullveig once more.
So she is in fact, a daughter of gullveig and the summoner, from another timeline but ye shes basicly required to "awaken" gullveig, so youre basicly correct.
Who said that??? There’s no confirmation or even hint of that anywhere in the story💀💀💀
@@yohann3825 feh players never beating the can't read allegations
But the wiki says so, so...yeah. @@yohann3825
"Even numbered books are fillar"
Book 6:
I actually quite enjoyed book 8. The backstory of tree man (I am not spelling his name) hit for me. Maybe I’ve just been beaten down to accept subpar storytelling from feh but I enjoyed it more than the last few books
Book 9 is coming my theory is that the end of the Book it will be revealed that the cast of FEH will now been transferred to a future main FE Game so they could be free from terrible writing and pacing (hopefully)
Or feh will turn into a complete game to be offline. EOS is inevitable by 2027.
Also can the Dragalia characters show up in this hypothetical future game as a re-crossover as thier home EOS'd too
I liked the theming of the Part 8 cast Character Designs with all of them being health experts kinda
Hresvelgr - Surgeon
Eikthyrnir - Physical Therapist
Heidrun - Dietitian/Nutritionist
Nidhoggr - Anesthesiologist or Pharmacist (She could be both I said anesthesiologist because She’s often run parallel with Hresvelger
But given her lab coat it also says she would work with chemicals and medicine That and her relationship with alcohol)
Ratatoskr - Nurse in Training
Laerador - Hospital Director or Head Doctor
I got a great sense of there personalities to we just seriously lacked character interaction but I can pretend those interactions are real with Heroes Journey 🥲
Hospital AU crack fic with them all going Grey's Anatomy style was not something i thought I needed
But now I do
@ I was thinking about it all day yesterday
As someone who's big into fitness, I really liked Eikthyrnir. One, he's sick as hell, and I just enjoy health-focused gymnut characters. He's also the most interesting of the siblings to me and how he's pretty much the most helpful.
My thoughts on FEH OC's begin and end on "God, Freyja and Triandra are so hot HOLY MOLY HER SUMMER ALT"
One fun aspect form book for you didn't mention was that there was a sorta changeling plot that resolved, that being what happened to the summoner.
Spoliers
For those who want to know Alfonse during nearly the whole story was actually the Summoner dreaming they were Alfonse (which might be part of why there isn't a very strong reaction from Alfonse during the possible kid Peony and kid Sharena swapped places in the past bit since it's not actually Alfonse), something that kinda came outta nowhere and wasn't really hinted at prior to the reveal, which gets revealed when they find the actual Alfonse asleep in the dream world.
Also i think is hilarious how it feels like the writters just keep forgetting they are writting a story that releases a chapter each two months and only has 13 chapters per arch
They keep ramping up the setup per chapter and then boom is chapter 12 and they need to close the whole plot in two chapters
I wish we have OC's from Askr/Embla along with the new waifus even if just to show that other people in those kingdoms care about the plot. Good video man.
Lol. Book 5 Nights at Fafnir’s.
In defense of Book VI and Book VIII: "Buff Ungulate Daddy's"
37:00 The fairies book was a good way of developing Kiran through theire bound with Alfonse. For me it should have stopped here: Alfonse.
Fjorm and previous main protag OCs had their stories expanded in Tempest Trials event. If you want to count that as continuations.
He mentioned that near the end.
FEHs OCs would be SO damn good if ONLY they weren't in FEH
They heard you talking about how there's no male lead.
17:10
Counterpoint 1: Byleth
Counterpoint 2: Shez
It's kinda funny how many of them have extremely appealing designs but are unfortunately trapped in the gacha that gives the least shits about it's characters
The fact Sharena and Alfonse have so much more personality in the Dragalia crossovers is such a funny showcase of how little FEH really cares about it's characters
The fact the Peony and Sharena thing is brought up for like 2 minutes and then they brush it off really irks me not gonna lie 😭
At least in Book 8 the Male OC survived, he’s on the few surviving male OC’s lol
Glad to have found a fellow Reginn enjoyer through this video. Did not think any of them existed
I demand more content on heroes. I dont know how you'd make that work, but i enjoyed this video, so I need more.
i will never forgive IS for freyr.. his character design is absolutely gorgeous what a waste tbh
I wish these stories were given more time
I totally forgot Fjorm was dying.
I really hope there's a way they could pull a laejgran and revive him in book 6 TT I mean he's a popular oc and he was done so dirty he deserves justice.
12:16 Eir has two moms, and I love that for her < 3
What pisses me off about Heroes is that there's no interactions between OCs except for special units. But nooo, it's always the same:
-We've got trouble!
-Allies join
-we've got no chance to win
-Plot twist! now you have a chance with this magical artifact
-"Huh, maybe they're not so bad, maybe they're being controlled"
-Someone dies
-Peace is restored
Can you tell me what Book is that? You can't? exactly. Because they're all the same with different coats of paint.
Like give us something. You have 5 maps per chapter, use them better instead of shoving in the new banner guys saying "I am X from Y. I wonder is Z is here."
We don't care if it's stupid, at least try to make something interesting. And I hope the last Book gathers all the OCs and makes something cool, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
I know nothing about feh and this is not what i was expecting. This feels a bit like a fever dream😂
Feh has the same writing as once upon a time with a less complicated family trees.
Ever since the summoner became a piece in all of this, Askr defeated multiple supposed unbeatable kingdoms and foes and killed a bunch of gods, her fear for the threat of Askr was totally justifiable, even Asgard considers them a threat considering what the new book is showing, it doesn't matter if we know the Askr royals won't become conquerors (Tho Alphonse could very well become one since Lif exists and all that), Eitri fearing the chance they do is a good and reasonable thing as the person who had that much info about the world
Also she's objectively correct about the "We're not different you and I" thing, it's one of the few times FEH has tried to tie story to gameplay and they hit the perfect spot with it, we use the heroes as tools the same way she does considering we have some villains in our army that are only with us because they literally can't kill us or any other hero
36:46 the fact that her design for cyl was gulvegg in seoir’s outfit and they didn’t use it in the story whatsoever is the biggest missed opportunity
I stopped playing after book 3.
But one thing to note for Book 7, Heiðr is the child between Gullvieg and Kiran lmao.
29:41 Wow it truly is a ridiculous motivation once you take out the context
Also 4:00 I agree I used to complain about how hard the early days of the game were…..but now I just wanna die whenever I even open arena.💀
Seriously whoever’s idea it was to give Brave Felix 3-4 actions in one turn was smoking Datura.
On the plus side, if you are a new player, you get the most broken unit for free.
well in the future. They just made a male OC protag in Rune in book 9 soo maybe they will actually do something story wise now they actually using Loki and Thorr for something
Hell yeh brether, Book 3 was peak and they showed it when they bought it back for a bit for TT and Rearmed lmfao
no to correct you heidr isint gullveig only the other 3 heidr is the kid we had with gullveig might have skipped that part lol.
Twist so good I forgor. It also doesn't help that the kid plotline gets overshadowed by people's initial reaction to the "set up" for it
@RenegadeRedoer and we never see heidr again after that like wtf man IS forgot she exist Gullveig got Saved and all 3 Gullveigs exist in one person being seidr but we can't save our child.
I literally stopped playing this game because of how fucked over Sharena has been.
shes even more fucked now that alphonse once again gets another alt that isint lif.
U actually reminded me how the old cg videos looked. If nothing else, at least intellegent systems improved the animation quality
I guess Rune might be the first male OC that lives
I desperately need a Feh Warriors game or something. Anything to get these characters out of mobile Game hell and to see them in HD
I started playing heros this month and when I got to book 3 I had a moment of damn, is the story in this game actually kinda decent? Glad to know, well not glad to know, but it checks out that book 3 is the exception
well we now have a male oc, and he's voiced by veronica taylor...
the monkey's paw curled
And Now we Have a Male Book Lead, whit Rune
I dropped the game after book 8 so im happy knowing someone else feels the same way I do about the story. Not to mention the gameplay became lazy
If FEH dies I would love to see a game with the same name, were all these characters and the book themes create the real story of Fire Emblem Heroes. Once more we are the summoner that came from earth to Askr, and similar to Hogwarts legacy, we can customise our character.
46:39 yea so about that…
I miss Helbindi, Tails
Of the oc's feh my fav is gullvien yea she my fav
Heidr is not the same person as the others...
And Seidr didn't get her powers from nowhere...
Bro, I think the reason why people hate book VII is cause they didn't fucking read it.
unfortunately, while he didnt really read the book at all, it still doesnt counter the fact that book 7 fucking sucked.
See my issue is feh does revisit old characters. In plot heavy limited time events that if you didn't see when they came out you never will.
I mean the next book is a male unit shocker they broke the mold
Book 9 trailer just droped and frankly its umm...Well I don't have positive things to say about so far. Except the new free unit is a male oc so there is that.
It says a lot that the game sounds infinitely more interesting from a wry summary than the actual story in it. I'll be honest, I could only follow the story in the game up until book 3, both due to burnout with the gacha elements and with the unengaging storytelling in the game itself.
It was clumsy, but I still like Book 8 WAY better than Book 5. The latter was pretty easily the absolute worst for me. I didn't care about the story or any of the characters
Honestly, I stopped paying attention after book 5. Great summery man.
36:07 how is she her own sister ?
she isnt. technically heidr is kvasir/seidr/gullveig and the summoners child. which is world
In summary: Heidr is afflicted with what’s called the “Golden Curse”, which transforms whoever is afflicted into Gullveig.
Honestly, I liked Book 8 much more than Book 7, mostly because of the characters. Book 7 was too horny.

Hey we got a male main oc
***NO???***
One of you's a goddamn Princess of Askr and I'm pretty sure the people of said country would be distraught knowing their princess had been replaced at some point?
But even in the first place this is such a NON-Mystery, only one of these two looks like a younger Henriette for one thing but then there's the fact that being of Askran blood means that only one of these girls can **open portals to other worlds.**
Like I was totally convinced Sharena was a literal negelected child in-universe too due to how her parents treated her in Book 3 and that's why nobody really noticed her and Peony switching places, also why she wants so many friends and that this had some nuance and actualy story
Just... UGH, there's just no good writing in this whole thing.
Sorry, okay it's done, it's out of my system now.
