So sorry for your loss. In time, this song will bring back great memories instead of painful ones. I've lost an older sister in '90 and a son in 2019 both to suicide. Songs reminding me of them (both played at services, songs they loved and about their lifestyles) bring both painful and happy memories. Time makes the pain lessen a little more.
My dad used to sing this song sometimes when we'd drive down the highway. Especially the "My Maserati does 185" part. Now when I hear it, it makes me sad because he's been gone for almost 5 years. Like, just last night, I was playing Call of Duty, and I reached level 185, and I immediately thought of this song, and that lyric in particular. I then immediately stopped after saying "does 185" because I got a chill down my spine and I started to suddenly feel so sad, I had a tear in my eye. It may have been almost 5 years since he passed, but it still feels like it's been a few weeks. 😞

I have always thought the same exact thing: this guy is a musical genius. How does one even contemplate writing such a fantasticly entertaining piece? In fact, this whole album, "But Seriously Folks" is a work of art. Play the entire album on a relaxing Saturday or Sunday morning, starting at the beginning of the album when you sit down with your first cup of coffee, and you'll thank me. But this song and even that album are just the tip of the iceberg when you look at the entire career of this incredibly talented performer. Too bad (and he'll be the first one to admit it, as he describes in his song: "Problems"), that so much of his early career was spent getting quite a bit more than buzzed. I saw him in concert (with Stevie Nicks in her solo career as opener) in Dallas in the early to mid 80s and he was so drunk or wasted that it was embarrassing. I guess he had to do this or I would not have believed he was human. But he still is and he has always been my favorite individual/solo rock and roll artist. Heck, he was good all by himself (and with the James Gang) before the Eagles, and when he joined them, he made them even better. And then he went on (occasionally hitching back up with the Eagles for a few gigs) to continue an amazing career all on his own. I would love to meet the guy some day.

I was today years old when I learned that that was not, in fact, a mic'ed jaw harp. From an online article from Mix Magazine: Walsh's friendship with The Who's Pete Townshend had sparked an interest in sequencing synthesizers, and he and Vitale programmed the simple eighth-note sequence on an ARP Odyssey, though many accounts in print and on the Internet refer to the sound as a Jew's harp. “Let's put that one to rest right now,” says [producer Bill] Szymczyk. “There was no Jew's harp on that record. It was all done with a synthesizer.”
This song reminds me of better times, takes me back to late 80s early 90s time period going out to my aunt and uncle's place out in the sticks in Chardon Ohio just good old times.
He's actually much, MUCH better since he got sober in February of 1994. He sings better. I wasn't sure he could EVER play better, but he damn sure does. He's actually much more creative and vibrant on stage, too.

Hello thank you for your love and support ❤
This was the last song we played at my dad's funeral when he passed. I was 14 and now before I turn 18 this song really hits me in the heart
Sorry for your loss praise him and he is in a better place in heaven
RIP
PRAYERS
I am so sorry for your loss, nothing harder than losing a parent. What a kick ass song to play for him!! He must have been the coolest
Songs are great to remember loved ones by.
My man the fact that you reach a level on a game and remember a number from a song that your dad liked is amazing I'm sure he would be proud you
You got it buddy, go 285 hehe
I hear you on that one... My wife passed a few years ago as well, and I think of a song that we both liked ***with a reminder, but I can't listen to it, well, at this time anyway...(this isn't one of the songs we liked)
Don't be sad, smile, I don't think anyone would want loved ones to be sad in remembrance of them.
That's a memory to hang on to and realize he was a happy person
Joe Walsh and the Eagles are still a rocking band Rest in peace to Glenn and Randy. Hope the rest of the band is doing good.

It's a wonderful thing for a song like this to remind me of my lost friend. Keep Rocking Joe!

For a few thousand dollars, you can plan your own exit strategy. It's kinda cool if ya think about it. Write out the songs you want played, pick out your urn, decide if you want ashes spread in certain places you love etc. None of us are getting out of here alive, so you might as well do it up right!

I have a mansion, forget the price
Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice
I live in hotels, tear out the walls
I have accountants pay for it all
They say I'm crazy but I have a good time
I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
Life's been good to me so far
My Maseratti does one-eighty-five
I lost my license, now I don't drive
I have a limo, ride in the back
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked
I'm makin' records, my fans they can't wait
They write me letters, tell me I'm great
So I got me an office, gold records on the wall
Just leave a message, maybe I'll call
Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
(Everybody say, "I'm cool, " "He's cool")
I can't complain but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far
I go to parties sometimes until four
It's hard to leave when you can't find the door
It's tough to handle this fortune and fame
Everybody's so different, I haven't changed
They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time
(Everybody say, "Oh yeah, " "Oh yeah")
I keep on goin' guess I'll never know why
Life's been good to me so far
Ah, yeah, yeah

2:58 One of the most iconic synth sounds of the 70's happens in the middle of this great song!
I was today years old when I learned that that was not, in fact, a mic'ed jaw harp. From an online article from Mix Magazine:
Walsh's friendship with The Who's Pete Townshend had sparked an interest in sequencing synthesizers, and he and Vitale programmed the simple eighth-note sequence on an ARP Odyssey, though many accounts in print and on the Internet refer to the sound as a Jew's harp.

My son was an artist and he really Worked at what he did. I was a writer and just a few paragraphs could set me back hours in editing. Grandmother taught me "cream rises." If you really have talent, you still have to work hard to gain an audience. Walsh is famous because he was talented And willing to invest in the work it took him to get where he landed. "Fortune favors the bold..." Good Luck! :)
