From what I heard, Ronnie Dunn did a cover of "I Won't Back Down" following Tom's untimely death and Kevin Bacon wrote a song called "Tom Petty T-shirt" a few weeks after it happened. I'm 17 years old, Petty is all my parents played growing up. I've been to three concerts in the last 5 years, all of them are incredible. We need more bands like this from the live generations. no editing, no shitty effects. just a group that can play the hell out of their instruments and make an incredible sound.
Same here along with neil young, and crosby stills nash and sometimes young, todd rundgren, doors, steely dan, doobie brothers, chicago, zz top. Emerson lake and palmer, alan parsons project, pink floyd, Allman brothers, wishbone ash, joe bonnamassa, and many others....great music doesnt burn out or fade away and yes 8m aware that's neil young not tom petty, but felt fitting. Cheers to music eternal!
It's all the radio played. I don't think they played much else when this album was released... Most of the other artists weren't making but 2 or so songs that were allowed on the radio... Blows my mind to this day, the FCC allowed Tom to play these.

My only time seeing him was during a huge rainstorm with lightening at an Ampitheater in Raliegh. Best concert I've seen to this day.
