This trailer was shown at E3 which I attended in 2020.
The building where the expo took place was so beautiful. It had no electricity.
Fortunately I brought a laptop with a full battery. I was able to play this trailer seventy-five times on repeat. The audience was impossible to see in the dark but I could hear them cheering for me. Everyone was cheering. They cheered for nine hours.
I had never been to E3 before. I learned so much and met so many creative and interesting people. The engine room was haunted by ghosts.
After sunset, I unpacked my drapes and slept next to a rusty pipe. I drank tea from my thermos but the tea had long gone cold. I did not dream. The next morning I went outside and waited for a plane to take me back home. However no plane arrived. No plane was coming. There have never been any people here.
I stood in the long grass for many days and many nights in that barren field beyond the edge of town. I considered weeping but I could not find time for it on my Google Calendar. I'm so happy, thank you for your support.

Since I first learned of this game in 2012 - I have traveled the world, been married, lost my home, built an entirely new life, changed and grown as a person. Yet, the gorgeous soul, presentation, and aesthetic of RtU has never once altered in that time, but instead evolved into this wonderfully structured and visually pleasing offering that has always been on my mind these past 8 years. Congrats to nearing the end of development, sixe, we've all been waiting.

So a playable demo had been out since February.
I'm going to be honest, I just beat the demo for this game, and I cannot overstate how genuinely excited I am to play this entire game. I tried about 20 demos from Steam Next Fest, and this was by far my favorite.

Raido the Universe is that one project I backed and would be reminded of by the random updates that popped up, but was never to worried about when it would come out. Trailer looks so legit and I am super excited to play this!

You have greatly inspired me as a creator and I hope I can someday release a game like you. i'm an aspiring indie dev and i've been following R:TU from the beginning. it's been a very long time since a video game has made me feel like this. in fact, i forgot a game could make me feel like this. i felt that perhaps i had just outgrown video games for not being able to find games with "soul", the "soul" in worldbuilding and atmosphere that made me love games in the first place. but this is it. it really has been missing all this time, and you are carrying the torch. i'm honestly a little emotional writing this, and i know this is going to be a giant inspiration for the next generation of devs, guiding them in the best possible direction. thank you 6e
I really hope this game is going to be this generation's Cave Story.
Hey if you want a game with soul, play something like Nier Automata as an example of an AAA game that had a clear artistic vision with both its world and story. Katana zero as well had a surprisingly good plot and celeste's extreme difficulty was boistered by the fact that the main character herself was climbing her own figurative mountain in her head. There's soul in video games, you just need to look for those games.
@@DanielLopez-ob9jz Nier certainly fits the bill and is chock full of the “soul” I’m describing. It just feels like games like that come around less and less often. I’ll check out Katana Zero
this game was announced so long ago that in that span of time saying " Players will feel gameplay influences from Dark Souls" went from invoking the reaction "oh!" to invoking the reaction "oh..."

I also get the impression people will see this as being similar to Hyper Light Drifter, even though this was Kickstarted before HLD was.
@@t-blade I played the beta (backed the KS looong ago). If you don't like DS or HLD you WILL NOT like this game. It's harder than HLD by several orders of magnitude, and twice as obtuse. Don't be swayed just by the amazing visuals unless you have no problem paying for a game you won't get into.
It's fun if you want a top-down Metroidvania-ish soulslike that's hard to understand and harder to play.
I am waiting every day for this game to release, a piece of art.

Woah, just found out about this now from the Omori subreddit, but this is a bomb-ass trailer. This game oozes atmosphere, and the music in this trailer is so good.

Kickstarted this one and just realized I hadn't heard anything in a while and realized I missed an email. Well to my surprise - This trailer. This looks amazing.

@@arnoldgrunwald3989 hard to say, since Sixe as of now is mostly working on fixes and changes based on Backers feedback, even though i still think it will be out sometime this year.
in any case, he IS working hard to make sure this game it's the best it possibly can.
AAAAAA The asthetic of this game is so freiking cool, i've been looking forward on this game since 2017 and wow the looked changed alot i'm glad is right around the corner being finished i'm hoping it will have a deep lore to the game.

Ever since the kickstarter for this game went up, I've never forgot about it, constantly looking it up to see how it was doing. Like many others are mentioning here, my life has changed drastically ever since, but my interest on the game remains well justified! Here's hoping for a steady release and that the game becomes the hit it deserves to be.

For games he cited Yume Nikki, Symphony of the Night, Hotline Miami, and Dark Souls as some sources of inspiration but that might be only true for his original idea back in 2012, and since how much the game as changed (for the better ofc) some of those might not hold true so much anymore.
For media instead i can say that he definitely took some inspiration by the manga "Blame!" .

I just found about this game today and it already intrigued me in a way that very few games manage to do
When I backed this on Kickstarter I was in high school. Since then I've completed college, started a career in game development, fallen in love, gotten married, divorced, transitioned, and now I can't wait to share this with my loved ones. This looks absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to play it.

Thank god I only learned about this a few months ago, I might have gone insane waiting for it. I've played the demo seven times already. This might be one of my most anticipated games ever.
Edit: Finished the demo twelve times now.
This one does look like something special. But some aspects beg for concern. Like does this game has any characters besides the protagonist. Or any story in the traditional sense of the word. I can totally imagine it being: "Are u bad 'nuff dude to destroy all the robots?" Behold the landscape and make up your own story. Gameplay on the other hand looks like a decent mix of combat and platforming. And the art direction is surprisingly solid.
I'm a betatester and for now i can only say this, since the build we currently have has almost
no narrative elements (likely intentional, since bugs, gameplay and balance issues is what Sixe is most interested to solve at the moment):
-It's definitely going to have characters besides the protagonist, probably not a crazy amount since this is supposed to be a desolate city afterall, but those few ones will likely be important for the overall narrative
-The game will have cutscenes and probably other "methods" besides the landscapes to give you more context and purpose about the world.
"A surreal, minimalist story about a journey into a fractured, bottomless city--amidst the fog of an unknown place and unknown time--and the few unexpected survivors within."
This seems to be the general idea.

So many games have already come out riffing off this game's visual style -- and it's not even out yet.
There aren't too many games that I've been this excited about playing, but there are even fewer that I've been following for damn near a decade! About a year ago I went searching for any info on whether or not this game was still in development, and was depressed to find nothing but old trailers. I don't think there's any chance of it living up to the hype I've created in my own mind, but if it plays half as good as it looks... we'll be in for one hell of a good time!!! If things go south, and it doesn't get released for some reason, PLEASE at least put out a demo so we can torture ourselves with dreams of what could have been.

It surely took quite a long time to be made, but at this point the "worst" thing that could happen if it is delayed again (probably still in a "early 2021" window, mind you).

Playtester here (not like it matters much for this question) and yeah, Sixe is the only human being (probably) working on this project since 10+ years.
@@alsartsavience3512 that is mind-boggling! I'm so happy for today's tech allowing for passionate devs to take on projects like this on their own, even though it's probably an insanely heavy process. I've also been watching the development of Neyyah for quite a while, which is also a one-man-job, with a little external help.
With only one vision, these type of games can turn into very potent experiences!

Really cool demo, love the vibes. Was just thinking it might be interesting if there were HP-related constraints aside from zero or not-zero, so that the player has something to consider before the finishing blow. For example, what if some enemies gave you a bonus if you kept their HP on only odd numbers as you damage them?

I remember backing this Kickstarter SEVEN YEARS AGO when computers still used discs. I even backed it at the level that includes the disc. I doubt this will ever exist.
