The TT is voiced to be more of a vintage Orange, so the lack of articulation and bite is part of its character as it's not designed to be a modern metal amp. I've found that with an eq pedal and boost going through it you can get quite a large variety of tones, but it's really more of a classic Orange voiced amp.
I have a little Tiny Terror sitting in my jam room. It's a glorious little amp that was my first ever tube amp, and I can't tell you how excited I am to do something like this.
Sounds great imho! I'm a little confused about some of the criticisms, it's supposed to be muddy and warm, because it's a British rock type amp. In metal it goes great with something gritty or psychedelic like Mastodon or Pallbearer, and with melodic doom/death kind of genres. If you play music where you let the guitar ring out more this adds a lot of character. If you want a modern metal machine with out of the box tight EQ and sharp distortion you're better off with a 5150 or rectifier type of amp. Though I do occasionally use the warm British type of distortion on more modern rhythmic work for some extra flavour.
they also make better amps for metal, this video was definitely using the wrong orange. maybe that was the point, but regardless, it wasn't dialed in super well. still a good vid tho
The micro and dark terror sounds great with an eq in the loop....but still need that boost if you want crisp percussive palm mutes and not farts.....they remind me of the 6505, great amps, but easily muddy fart machines when the gain is turned up.
It’s funny. I use the same amp, with a Precision Drive in front, and I keep it at about the same settings (gain & tone at about 1-2 o’clock), and I have come to the same conclusions. So would you say that playing with the volume up would generally help with the note definition and muddiness?
I feel like the Turning the volume up gives me a more tube saturated not not really cleaned note definition. I discover that the tone knob is just a roll off and doesn't really decrease my low end. What do you do for definition?
Hey, question! and I mean this genuinely what did you mean by chewy? I did feel like the tone didn't have that articulation and I felt like the bottom end and such could come through more but I didn't want to bake in a ton of EQ in the mix cus I wanted it to still sound true to the source.
Sadly the amp was neutered in 7 watt mode the whole time!! which sounds like crap, It was hard to watch. 7watt mode is only one triode of the preamp tube. 15watts is both triodes.
What amps do you want us to Grind with next?
DSL1HR Marshall
Randall RG!! it will sound brutal for sure
Mesa JP-2C
If you do another orange amp can you try the dark terror? The smaller one if possible ( 15 watt)
Btw this sounds so sick with the grind pedal bro!

Did you try it out yet? We're excited to hear about your results!

You had some good Queens of the Stone Age tones in the beginning there
Djent of the Stone age?
Sounds amazing
Thanks so much glad you're digging the demos!
Whats it sound like with lead
Still sounds to citrusy.. Not enough Orange peel on the top end... You know?!.
Definitely trying to get the juice out of this tone. I just wish that this amps tone knob was more than a roll off.
@@MelTorres I love Orange cabs. Heads not so much. Good luck bro
Not ripe enough
Still sounds a bit chewy in the mix but that's just that orange character. Still not half bad though!

What’s chewy mean??
@@lcbryant78 low mids
Have this amp. Wish it had an fx loop.
Same haha I felt that in this video.
Yup. You just saved me some moolah. Too djenty for my taste. I want harmonic rich, throaty dynamics.
That Ninja tho!
whippin' it
super rad! nice job!
Always appreciate the love JParker!
this is dope!
Thank you :D!
is that an Illiad we see there?
Indeed!
Bump the volume up

This was hard to watch.
