    This is the PCC people wanted from Ruger. Takes Glock mags, is affordable, assumingly very reliable. I think they've got a winner here.

    Understand that a 10” barrel would maximize the 9mm round, I think that this being a takedown model, the length is appropriate.

    • @stevemiller7433
      @stevemiller7433 4 года назад +9

      Ballistics by the inch shows that the 9mm having been designed from the outset as a pistol cartridge does reasonably well in a short barrel. There are significant gains in velocity out to 6 inches, then the benefit starts to fall quickly. >16 inches actually slow the bullet. In this "Pistol" the take down feature is superfluous. What do you save? 3 inches? Complexity and weight for little gain. This needs to be lightened up.

    • @longhunter5935
      @longhunter5935 4 года назад +7

      When Israel was designing the UZI sub machine gun, I have read that they tested the 9mm in several different barrel lengths. They eventually settled on a barrel length of just over 10”. To keep this barrel length and to keep the over all package small they went to the extra step of designing the bolt that travels up and over the barrel to get the mass that they needed in the blow back design. That said I understand that they have a hotter 9mm round that is preferred (someone tell me if this is correct) for the UZI? In that case the 10+ barrel maybe optimized for it, and as such the typical U.S. 9mm nato round may be optimized in shorter barrels.

      Steve Miller Feel free time do whatever you want. It’s a pistol. So if you shorten the barrel no big deal. I had a smith bob several barrels for me. First was a a SS 10/22 takedown to 16&1/4” when they first came out. It cost $100 but I had them thread the thicker band part by the front site inside fora thread protector actually pretty cool. Now the come that way. Then about 3 Charger barrels to 8&1/2” to extend past the factory forend for suppression or hider. I’m sure you could do it with this. But I have two PC Carbines and love them. Did I I want them shorter you betcha. Will I shorten the carbines. No. Will I buy one of these? No. I’ll buy two.

Sighted it in as far as the indoor shooting g range went. I guess 20 to 25 yards . Within a few adjustments I was tearing center paper out! Very accurate up to that range . Until I shoot past that distance I wouldn’t know how accurate but I have seen other post were they are hitting targets 125 yards out! This gun is amazing! Well built and great quality. I have shot about 400 rounds of all types of practice 9mm. And no miss fires! Haven’t tried hollow points or defensive rounds yet because of hard to get and I have that for my carry pistol. Will try soon because this bad boy is going next to my bed and in my truck ! I would shoot all day if I had the ammo! You can buy 3 of these to one of some of those other 9mm carbines ! I would buy three of these!! Get one!

    This looks like a fun little gun! I like the takedown feature, it opens up a lot of possibilities with different barrel lengths, integral suppression, etc.
    As much as i enjoyed this video, you reminded me of something that has been bugging me for a while now. "Braces" like that are the reason the ATF went after braces. The ergonomics are clearly designed for it to be used as a stock, NOT as a brace. If you are going to exploit loopholes, being this blatant is a really good way to get those loopholes closed.
    Personally, I would argue that sbr's should *not* be NFA items. But they are. So, until that changes lets be smart about our loopholes so we can keep them.

    Great little pcc friend bought one when they first came out. They were fairly priced at $576 . I waited and even did a review of it and the comparo side by side with an Extar ep9 . Gave it great reviews.
    It’s quirky but it’ll eat any brass I could feed it without any issues.
    Tactically it’s practical and easy to manipulate and shoot while running or storming. No cans ran but it is drilled for the 28 adapters . Very accurate which leads to my point. It’s a Ruger so not exactly top shelf but are runners so the release price seemed adequate but after a few good reviews the price skyrocketed. Ruger broke the cardinal rule of jacking the price of a new release firearm already priced.
    They made no changes or upgrades they got greedy.
    Now they sell for $700-750 if your lucky.
    Putting it out of market range. Go up $300 and get a CMMG Banshee or go up $100 and get the CZ Scorpion.
    Or get on the waiting list and buy a wonderful PCC that only costs $439 in 9,10,45 soon. The Extar is a good alternative.
    Save the $1000 for a full size AR or AK in 223/7.62x39

    Thumbs up...
    I really like this set up, if I was on a personal protection detail, I would throw the Uzi in the scrap barrel.
    Couple things I think your ideal of cost. Yep maybe $650 if you want the 17 round mag and nothing else. Including sights. So add the 30 round Glock mag even the knock off. A decent red dot even a knock off. A brace as you call it, or a folding butt stock. Now you are at $1200 again.
    Which leads to; we want short barrel rifles, so I guess atf has something to say about that. So then we opt for a pistol with longer barrel options a so called brace/pad additional furniture for accessories. Now we have a hand stop (which ought be a must on all semi autos and short barrel firearms) also threaded barrels for suppressors. The list goes on. I just don’t get why the user just don’t buy a carbine. I love a short barrel AR but not so warm n fuzzy on a AR pistol

      5.7 makes sense if fed through the mag well but not as much in this configuration. Sure, you could say the same with 9mm. At least a fixed barrel helps suppress 9mm, 5.7 is not so suppressible. 5.56 is cheaper and more powerful than 5.7, they are just too close in terms of roles to justify the 5.7, UNLESS you are grip-feeding it or using p90 mags, IMHO.

    Awesome video and and amazing little weapon! Never been a huge fan of Ruger, exception being of course the best .22 rifle ever made the 10/22. I am in the market for a 9mm pistol PDW. Its is as you stated a very crowded market for these type weapons so I am doing my due diligence and watching videos, reading reviews, checking prices and making comparisons. I still have not made a decision but this video is compelling and makes a great case for buying the Ruger Charger 9mm pistol.
    I should add that my use for my weapon will be for vehicle transport and VIP/High value Asset protection situations. My company does VIP/high value client and asset protection and vehicle transports. Small PDW work well in limited space. The advantages of the 9mm vs. our current AR style 5.56 calibers are we have less chance for bullet over travel and less risk to public safety if and when we ever had to use our weapons to protect lives. We will always carry at least one AR15 in the support vehicle but personal entourage will be supported with smaller PDW's.
    So thanks again for this review. I liked it and subscribed as well. Be safe, shoot straight!
