  • After nearly 2 months and way too much drama, I finally have my 2014 Shelby GT500 back. Sorry for such a long explanation but a lot happened since I purchased the car from Carvana. In short, she's 100% and I can't wait to make some more videos with her!

Bro, I hear your pain. I bought a 2010 GT500 in January, and a "small" series of issues ended up costing me $18-22k. But now, it's all tidied up and I'm putting close to 800hp at the wheels and it's a modern classic, for sure. There is nothing like this beast on the road; you know how it is. Manual trans, supercharged V8 - let's go Brandon!

@@anthonylaudano9751 Nice! Yea, when they first did the inspection when I bought her, she had a few things going on:
supercharger had been leaking fluid/oil because one of the screws wasn't on right that held the pulley assembly on the engine
-bunch of little lights were out, like license plate and stuff you wouldn't notice just hitting the blinkers and turning on the headlamps
-exhaust had a crack in it, so we had to replace all of that
-front control arm bushings were in rough shape, so I replaced the entire control arms and bushings - since they were going to have to remove them anyway; btw, drove much better after this was done. If your turns are hard/rough to make, then I suggest this to make it smoother/lighter
-since we were going to replace the supercharger, I ended up getting a Whipple (originally a gen4, but they ran out, so I got a Gen5 3.0L)
-since I was getting the new supercharger and they were going to be under there, I also got -
      --spark plugs
      --fuel injectors
      --voltage boosters
      --fuel rails
      --increased size expansion tanks
      --dual pass heat exchanger
      --intercooler
      --oil separator
      --etc. etc.
Basically replaced anything that would eventually wear down or have to be replaced by 100k miles, while upgrading what we could within reason

Wow I also had a similar experience with Carvana....I purchased a 2019 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth.....they disclosed it had 2 small scratches one on the front of the car the other on the passenger side mirror...Ok No Biggie....when the car was delivered it was raining so I figured I know what the cosmetic issues were and it was not a problem.....next day car is dry and in my garage...I look over the car and the Entire hood has Hail Damage over 80 dents and a few on the left rear quarter panel....Hold on it gets better....Car had only 11k on it.... after 5 miles of driving the check engine light comes on.... Plus there was so much break dust on the wheels they didn't even wash the car....The car had a Long list of performance up grades that were Not disclosed....I pulled the shops Number from the carfax report and talked to the shop Owner.....The previous owner Added big brake kit...exhaust....New Clutch....Increased the size of the Turbo which Voided the balance of the factory warrantee and a few other things....This car was raced and they would not Budge on the price so I had them take the car back....Good luck with your New Shelby....

Ok, how in the hell does a dealer mechanic not test for a bad synchro? That seems ridiculous for them to make such an amateur diagnosis. Glad you got it resolved.

That car has more miles than meets the eye. You should have no stone chips and no transmission problems in such a low mileage car. What was the condition of the clutch and was it the original clutch? Something doesn't smell right.

Do GT500s have numbers matching transmissions?...

I've had bad times with the Ford dealer as well. one of our officers came into the garage to tell us their Explorer shaking when driving, so I road tested it and confirmed it need transmission work. we sent it to Ford and the dealer claimed they tested it 3 times and drove just fine, they brought it back to us, I then road tested it again the next day because I was busy with other cars... The Explorer still had the same hard shudder, we sent it back to Ford AGAIN and they sent it back to us saying its fine so that same day i recorded as I tested it and sent it directly to the Ford guy we were dealing with, and they replaced the torque converter with no further questions. (We believe the dealer wanted to avoid the warranty as the pay for manufacturer is not the same as from a customer.

As much as I like the GT500 especially in those years I’d be fuming mad at having to put a transmission in it and issues with it you had. When it has so low of miles and what you paid. I guess you make best of it. I bought a challenger SRT8 in June and had a few issues but luckily the most expensive was covered under warranty. Having to replace front tires and rim because whoever owned it previously must’ve hit a curb or something. When it arrived it had a few more paint flaws then I expected. When you buy a low mileage car doesn’t mean it’ll be flawless.

Just tried to buy a 2010 GT500 from a major dealership in Ft. Lauderdale. Nice car, but...when it was started the exhaust odor stayed strong which indicated that there were no catalytic converters in place. I had them put it on a lift and, sure enough. no cats. So now they tell me that they can't sell me the car until they install a complete OEM exhaust system with cats. Great - I'm getting a new exhaust system or so I think! Next, they go off to put some numbers together. When they returned to go over the numbers there is an additional $8500 amount on the invoice. This number represents the exhaust system repair of $3000, a reconditioning fee of $3200 (oil change and wash down) with the rest being miscellaneous dealer fees, but no taxes! Obviously, I'm expecting them to sell me the car for what it was advertised for plus applicable taxes - so much for expectations. It gets better...I express my sticker shock and they begin to whittle away at their $8500 additional dealer markup. They get to where they are offering to remove $7000, but then the sales manager has to get approval from his superior (Mr. Big) to do the deal. Mr. Big says no deal. So they just wasted 2 hours of my time for nothing. The car had old front tires and worn out slicks on the rear. Also, it was involved in rear-end collision per Carfax. I hate buying cars...

SH*T, it sounds like the typical worthless dealership. This really pisses me off seeing this video, just reminds me of the worthless dealerships that I have dealt with in the past. The only good thing you haven't experienced is that I have.. The dealership took my van in to look at it because I am having transmission problems with it. The repair exceeded the value of the van so they canceled our lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty and wrote us a check for $7113.00.. They told us when we came to pick up the van because we refused to have a new transmission put in for $9000.00 we went to pick up the check and the van.. WHOOPS, we lost the check they told me. I said WTF, what do you mean you lost the check? They said they didn't know where it was.. I said I wanted the check now.. Bottom line.. I called Mopar Vehicle Protection and asked them where is my check. They replied that the check could not be reissued because it was already cashed. The dealership got the check AND cashed it. It turned it over to an attorney, plus filed with the sheriff for forgery. We have been waiting for over a month now for our refund. This dealership is nothing more than shysters.

I'm dealing with the same kind of issue with Acura. The dealership sold me a warranty through a third party Warranty company. less than 3000 miles on the car there's a transmission issue. They test drove 843 miles and said nothing was wrong. Then the service advisor slipped up and told me that the dealership actually loses money on warranty work. On the warranties that they sell! So it's not in their best interest to fix any warranty work. At any dealership. It's a scam. Enjoyed this video thx for sharing. I traded a 2015 GT for an 07 GT500 with 30k miles on it. I have a youtube vid on it if ur curious. Unfortunately i had to replace the clutch and driveshaft but now the car is like new. The 07-09s have a ceramic disc dual clutch that makes a cool hissing sound but super heavy. I prefer the solid axle muscle car feel over the newer stangs. Super charger whine is great and like u I didn’t get a super loud exhaust cause I like the whine.
One thing to note - if you havent - change the super charger oil. The owners manual says u dont need to but trust me - you need to. Its easy theres a plug and u suction out the old and only takes like 4-6 oz if i remember correctly. Maybe one day I’ll get a 13-14 one but atm they’re like 20k more than mine and the 07 body style grew on me.

Back in 1996 I purchased a new 1996 Lazer Red mustang Cobra. Wonderful car. It was a dealer demo and had 1800 miles on the clock. I was able to haggle and get 1200 off the sticker. Had no problems for the first few months but then the reverse gear started grinding. Took it back to the dealer and they said there was a service bulletin to place in 1st gear let out clutch slightly then shift to reverse. This helped for a while then grinding came back. Took car back two more times once it 18k then it 32k. Dealer did nothing. At 38k when having an oil change at the dealer the transmission failed while they where moving the car. They quoted me 1600 for a new transmission. I told them I had the records for the prior problems and refused. Service advisor called ford supposedly. Came back end told me 50 50. I said look I need my cars fix it you will get your 800 bucks BUT I am taking you to the district justice! Service advisor came back a few minutes later said its covered we are taking care of it. Loved that 1996 Cobra. I am proud owner of a 2010 Grabber Blue GT500 😁

For a solution I bought boom mats and put a triple layer of them in the trunk, the rear passenger seats and behind the driver and passenger seat on the floor. Now inside the car it is quieter than stock, but outside it is the Apocalypse and it sounds incredible. I got an aftermarket intake and I can hear the super charger wine, quite loudly. I watched your last video and as soon as you said you took it to a Ford dealer for inspection, I knew you were in for a rough ride with a known bad transmission. Ford maintenance departments make money from smaller fixes. If they have to occupy one of their bays for three weeks or a month with one car, that's bad for them and the manager will tell them to do whatever it takes to get rid of you. They make more profits on more cars, even if it's a big repair on a single car. And if it's warranty/insurance work vs self-pay, they will always go with the self pay option. That's why they lied about contacting your insurance company so they would force you to pay for their repairs. You would have gotten a more honest inspection from a 3rd party inspector who has no agenda other than offering good service.

Can't find them anymore - but you can get the mufflers themselves and have a shop do it.... HUSHPOWER mufflers by Flowmaster.... same conical perforated inverted cones inside the bullet muffler - which is the same tech that jet engines use.

Car looks great! Glad it all worked out in the end! :) I just did an exhaust on my ZL1 and loved how the Borla ATAK turned out... NO DRONE. I don't think I'd ever do a muffler delete on these kind of cars, lol.

    • @TheWolfMatt
      @TheWolfMatt 2 года назад +2

I'd have to agree. The ATAK by Borla is a perfect exhaust for any performance car/truck. It even comes with a 2 stage exhaust so you can regulate the dB of the exhaust sound.

@@D3RPZILLA I'd either have to go with the Borla ATAK or even the Corsa Sport exhaust on his GT500. Though I must admit, the Corsa Sport will sound a little more throaty than the Boral on the higher RPM. Should be nice to see what he goes with.

Just got me a 09 gt with 52,000 miles with carvana. The delivery driver stated that it was just the tpsm system. Took it it to a recommended auto shop. A couple other things diagnosed. Currently waiting to see if silver rock approves. I'm on my 4th day of the 7 day policy under 400 miles. Hopefully all goes well.

i don't like dealerships at all never had a good experience. i didn't get back my $500 deposit that i was promised back after using x-plan pricing. i had to cancel because i got orders and i wouldn't of had the truck before leaving. so yay out 500 for having the inclination to order a truck and getting shafted at the end.

Any experience I’ve had with dealerships have been horrible. I took my charger to a dealership for a oil leak. They said it was a oil pan gasket, paid 1000$ for the fix. Got it back 3 times and it still leaked so after 3 times they finally put dye in the engine and it was the rear main seal. The only good thing about it was they paid for the fix other than 1000$ I spent

the dealer where i got mine is horrbile. My insurance as well they give me runarounds. I have valve and oil consumption problems with mine a loud tick and smoke coming out. went to galpin ford and it was the worst experience ever. the dude that took over my case left on vacation and told no one, then was rude to me saying " i dont need to tell anyone when i go on vacation". The car sat for a month nothing done to it except my paint and stripes got ruined... 3 dealers so far and no one can help me warranty it.
