- The Shelby GT500 Super Snake is a legend for Mustang fans. For today's review on Thatdudeinblue, this 2013 Mustang GT500 became the Super Snake test car for Kenne Bell as they tested the limits of the 5.8 motor that made 662 HP from the factory. With a 3.6 liter supercharger, this car is not for the a casual sports car drive around town, it literally wants to eat you for breakfast. Brutal acceleration but nothing but smiles.

Back in the day I owned a '12 GT500. I liked it, but even the "lowly" 550hp it made out of its 5.4L V8 was way too much for the suspension to deal with.

My stock 14 scares the crap out me whenever I wide open throttle...I can't imagine what that KB supercharger is like. You are correct on that wheel hop on a live axle will scare the sh($@# out of you..stay in it and you'll be ok. One of the nicest and fastest cars I've ever owned..thank you Carroll...my plate reads THNKU CS....ode to the Man! The last Shelby all others will be continuations as good as they might be..I'm keeping this one. Heritage rules.

@@mach183 I own a Grabber Blue 2014 SVT TP/PP Shelby GT-500. Simple Bolt-ons like Underdrive pulley swap, JLT Intake, Upgraded BBK Throttle body, and a Lund tune has me making 668 RWHP with my stock 2.3L TVS.
The car is a Monster and I've only had it up @ 6,000 rpm, in 3rd gear, ripping past 125 mph.
+'s.....Pure joy to drive. Constant compliments. Mad respect from other drivers. More power than you should be allowed to have.

One of my favorite features is the glass roof. No other muscle car has that and it truly makes the mustang unique. I've been trying to find a regular 5.0 with one and they're freaking unicorn's.

Something about the GT500 makes me want it more than any car in the world. I know from the bottom heart, the GT500 has so much potential to be a track car. Either that, or it's a guts tester
Rice Box I thought the same thing until I drove a 2009. I had never driven one before and I had massive expectations for it, but after I drove it, I realized it was just another car. It was fast, but they are very heavy cars so not so good for turns. It felt like I was driving a boat. The clutch was very heavy which would get old after awhile. If you look at them for sale on car gurus, you can see that even with low miles, they have had multiple owners which says something. I really wanted to love the car and was disappointed when I didn't.
3644Darrell By no mean am I grown up man (bare in mind I’m almost 16 only), but to me, there’s only two things that makes it a ‘13 GT500: the 5.8 Trinity block, and the body. If possible, I’ll probably ditch everything for maximum weight reduction, buy a S550 axle and rebuild it. That is if everything I said make sense, which they probably not (no one has probably swap out the 8.8 axle for the IRS, I guess). Also, I heard that the GT500 have some cooling issues. Is that true?

vdentjr have you driven one? If so, what year? A 2009 model covers all years between 05-10. I don't know how the newer ones drive, but I know they are heavy. How old are you anyway?

I know glass roof is heavy and expensive - but I had one and it made ALL the difference! Great look on the outside - outstanding look on the inside. Makes a smaller cabin light and more open. Need to add that option back.

KyleSVT 2.3 is also the tvs 2300 that is more common than it should be. I have one in my roush f150. Just a big parasitic oven. No idea why roots is even made anymore. Twin screw is far superior

I've owned a 93, a 2003 mach one , a 2012 mustang's are not no better handling from my first to the last, I've got rid of all them. I would not buy another one they are a dangerous ride and in 1998 my 93 had 450 horses cant keep the motherfuckers on the road, dangerous cars.
I think this is the best looking mustang ever made. Plus the super snake package is insane to say the least , awesome review !

My '14 GT500 is so incredible to drive! You are right, even if I am going 100mph and jump on it, the power is there and the acceleration is just as strong. And it also spins a lot. So you have to be ready.

+1 The rear of the S197s is beefy af along with that sexy front end. Not to mention the S197s sound more muscle car like compared to the exotic notes of the S550

I was afraid of driving my 2014 Gt500 and getting in trouble (going to prison) everyday. So I just bought a 03 GT with 41k miles to daily. The gearing being so long in the Trinity Makes it difficult to have a ton of fun on the road. But there is no way I would ever get rid of the car. It is an amazing feeling doing a pull from 40-100 in second. The car just pulls harder and harder as the revs go up.

So this car was used to help develop the supercharger that was later used by Shelby America to create the super snake?
They used the car for all the testing of the supercharger and the emission for the supersnake with the blower they put e85 in the car race gas everything and they put a 4.7 on it was their test car

750hp freaking monster. I keep my V6 cyclone with MPT 93 oct tune. Roush CAI. manual trans! I kill a couples of V8 coyotes at the green light! Sometimes is not 2 extra cilinders, its how you handle the shift at the right time. For real.

I loved this video so much. I have to say, now that you're reviewing much faster, louder cars, maybe you should get a good lapel mic or something. It will still pick up the exhaust without you having to yell over the car.
