The funny thing is: everyone in town hated Eddie because they thought he was a Satanist and went against their good Christian values. However, the way he took in the school's outcasts to Hellfire with open arms, and later sacrificed himself for the town that rejected him and absolutely didn't deserve him made him the most Christ-like.

The most heartbreaking thing about this scene is that Wayne neither flinched nor questioned Dustin when he described Eddie's heroic actions. He's not at all surprised. He knew that Eddie would die doing all of those things.

It would've been so easy to have Mr. Munson either be neglectful and uncaring towards Eddie or outright abusive or even just a mentioned character we never see. But the Duffers took an extra step to make him a character and be the only one (outside of the party) in Eddie's corner when the town was against him. He wasn't essential to the story, but he added an extra bit of heart to it.

  • @Tsuma_Vento

This scene was much harder to take than the actual death scene. As much as I want Eddie back (a testament to the actor's great acting skills), it isn't meant to be and shouldn't happen. This scene is the perfect completion and closer to Eddie's arc. It is his fate to be the unsung hero, to be his own D&D hero. The Duffer Brothers create such strong, fascinating side-characters. In my opinion they trump a lot of the main characters. They really get in the forefront of it all, and live up to the hype. They take responsibility, know their duty, they are selfless, witty, compassionate. Kudos.
You will be sorely missed, Eddie.
And I am eagerly awaiting your demise to be addressed once more in the final season. I believe it has been confirmed there will be some sort of Eddie tribute.

  • @micah_eagle
    @micah_eagle Год назад +28

The thing that gets me about this scene is the fact that Wayne probably helped Eddie buy his first guitar, and his pick, and knew that Eddie was sentimental and kept it on him. He knew Eddie wouldn’t have let it go without a fight. That’s how he knew Dustin wasn’t being cruel or trying to pick at Wayne’s wounds.
You can see the hesitation he holds when Dustin says he was with Eddie when everything went down, and the way he says “and where is Eddie now?” He’s conveying ‘give me a reason not to trust anything you say’, because the entire town was after Eddie, and as far as Wayne knew, he was the only one who believed Eddie to be innocent.
So to hear someone so young, who seemed so unconnected to Eddie claim strongly that Eddie was innocent and a hero, it felt like too much. And Wayne probably felt relieved that at least more people would know of Eddie’s innocence, that was probably his greatest comfort despite his loss, to know that Eddie was known to his friends as innocent and a hero.

This scene and Alexei's death are the only scenes in TV history that have ever made me cry.
Damn they made this a good show.

I like that Dustin didn’t walk off at the end. He sat with Mr Munson and Waite a few moments. They grieved together.

This scene nearly got me teary-eyed. And I'm a soulless husk of a human so getting me to cry in movies is difficult lol
The way Wayne always believed in Eddie's goodness, and Dustin reaffirms that goodness while still having to break horrible news, just really got me. Eddie will likely be hated by the town forever, but the real ones know the truth, and that's enough.

Dustin will be one of Vecna's targets next season. I'm calling it. He's vulnerable and has experienced actual trauma now.

And then I hope Suzie (Dustin’s girlfriend) will come to Hawkins to sing, or even over the radio sing Never Ending Story - their song - in order to save her Dustybun from Vecna.

Yeah, he could attack him with both Eddie's vision or a true villainous Eddie.
Some would say it would ruin his death but that's the point. Dying a hero and getting "revived" a villain. They want Season 5 to be heartbreaking : it does the job already.

This is a real example how the real world it is, people will always judge you and you will try every day to demostrate you are good enough but at the end they wont care. Family will be the onlyones who will really believe in you.
