- Eddie Munson absolutely shredding on the guitar in the Upside Down? Consider my ticket bought. Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 is now streaming, only on Netflix.

The fact that Eddie could have literally just made noise with the guitar but decided “nah imma play some Metallica” instead makes this scene even more epic than it is.
Especially since in the canon of the universe, that song just came out a few months ago.
@@SightUnseen555 pardon me being that guy. But that song came out maybe a week two tops before the season
@@christopheredge9002 that’s the first thing I wondered when watching this episode. “Wait was this song already out by that time?”

Props to Stranger Things for giving us a fictional metalhead who isn't either a violent sociopath or a comically clueless idiot.

The Chrissy this is for you line shows just exactly what kind of person Eddie was. Risked his own life trying to save the world and avenge a girl he barely knew b/c he has compassion. Never judge a book by it's cover
Yep. He died defending a town that hated him.
He also chose to sacrifice himself when he could have left with Dustin. Decided this time I'm not going to run. If he went back with Dustin the bats may have followed through the gate and invaded Hawkins. True hero.
Well he barely knew her, but he clearly had feelings for her. I mean if they hadn't both died, who knows, maybe Eddie and Chrissy would have ended up together.

I started learning guitar because of this scene, I've always had a desire to play the guitar but this scene pushed me to actually do it!!!
Don’t stop! I started in HS and then stopped after about a year because I hit a plateau. Actually thought this was one of the stupidest scenes I’ve ever watched
@@aidan3277 Actually... I get it bro. The thought of this scene being just kinda stupid did came trough in my mind, but then it got to me... and realized that in the end it all comes down to attitude. Just look at what is going on in the scene! the song I've always loved since my teenage years, the background, the hell-bats, the red lightning, the ambientation... its just sooo well executed! and then mah boy Dustin just headbanging like a true metal maggot! Srsly It just somehow draw a smile in my face and I went from being laying down in my couch with a "meh, its ok" attitude to literally sit down straight and starting to headbang a little and eventually straight up screaming "Hell yeah man!" to my screen (and to my wife, who was also watching hahaha) like I was in a freaking show or something, we enjoyed it sooo much!!! I suddenly became all about it and just let myself get driven by the moment. And srsly that song... Damn, it just fits PERFECTLY with what was going on! and the character and the way they pulled it off, its so freaking awesome!
So please... dont be THAT guy. The sour, party-boomer guy... You decide how you react to everything.
And tbh the scene is *legit* cool... easily the best scene in the whole 4 seasons and just made this franchise immortal IMO.
Gotta love it!
This scene was already badass. Then I realized he was ACTUALLY PLAYING THE INTRO and not faking it. This is legendary.
Also shout out to Aidan Fischer, who played the solo!
ehh i low key was gona agree with u untill i read some comments and watched it more carefully even gave netflix some props then the painfull truth hit and after all its still netflix and best thing they do is eff things up lol
yeah the finger movements and were hes "hiting" the strings are on the curect frets and all but if u look closely at his picking hand thats what gives it away at 0:38 hes not playing it but i will give it to him one of the best fakes a show has used dude actually bothered to learn the notes but it is james hetfield even someone that plays guitar it wold take them atleast half a year of playing to even be able to play master of puppets at half the tempo unles they some kind of prodigy lol
he faked half of it tho. but still played it so close to real
@@zaited.x.dahlia8788 there is a video of him practicing this song so he did learn it 🤣🤣
@@_boreklipogaca like the first part till he got to the galops seems hella real cuz even the tempo was slower then the original thats what made me think it was real cuz of the slower tempo but ones it got to the 38 sec mark and i looked at his picking hand im like ok not real but he did bother to learn the notes cuz the fingers are on the right strings and the right frets but unless you have some time playing guitar ur not going to get those down strokes at tempo ... low key that song is the staple for any guitarist learing how to down pick its like the holy grail of down picking if u can play that at tempo with just down strokes then u can play anything lol
I feel like someday in the future if we stumble upon this clip or watch the series again, this is gonna bring back HUGE nostalgia

The fact that Eddie's actor was actually playing in real time too is incredibly impressive. I love this show's attention to detail, use of diegetic sounds, and practical effects.
I was so hoping his actor actually shredded this solo instead of it just being a stunt double or whatever the equal to that would be. A character's role always comes through the best when the actor fully embraces the role.
He was for real? Holy shit.
@@theonefrancis696 Yes! I'm not joking. There was an interview recently where Joe talked about how much fun he had getting to play that.

Let’s take a moment to really think about how awesome Eddie really is: Season 4 takes place in Spring of 1986. Master Of Puppets was released just before Spring in 1986. This means that Eddie learned and mastered this, one of the most difficult down picking songs ever, in a couple months. And he played it perfectly under all that pressure. Most. Metal. Ever.

I’m Gen X and I took my kids to the Pantera and Metallica show last night in Dallas. My kids are 22, 12, and 9, and they’ve been raised around metal so they knew most everything played but when they played Master of Puppets I watched little kids jam out and sing along and it made me so happy to see these newer generations feeling it. It's crazy how this character was so obviously telegraphed to die and yet the writing and acting came together in the perfect way to make him an immediate icon in the fandom. I have my issues with season 4 but Eddie Munson is one of the greatest things this show gave us; there's nothing more reassuring than someone who makes you feel like it's okay to be who you are, and Joseph's performance carries such genuine big brother energy that you can't help but love him. One of the only times I ever felt like I could relate to a character on television, haha. Even facing death, this dude was jamming hard and feeling it. I'm pissed they killed him off.. He should've been a permanent character.
Not one character should give the vibes of being permanent. In a show where every season is dangerous they should put their characters in danger. Although I would’ve rather them killing off someone from the main cast since season 1 since it would’ve been more impactful and it would’ve given one of their best characters more than a season to shine.
Honestly I think his death was easily foreshadowed and seen by the fans BUT he was immortalized like someone else said here. Now when I think of Stranger Things this scene and his death will be with me. The man was running for his life since like episode 1 but he finally decided to do something brave and yeah he died but he died knowing he helped save the day.
Honestly, while his death was sad, what was he going to do if he made it out alive, everyone thought he was the one killing all of the teens. Heck, even afterwards, everyone blamed his "cult" for the "earthquake" so he was screwed regardless. Honestly I think him dying was the best possible option for what could have happened to him because he died a hero rather than a coward.
Totally agree!!!
Honestly, This was perfect! Think about it, Everyone will know who he is, what he did, and how he ended, A true metal head. Did he actually play it?
If you watch interviews he did play it, he played the guitar when he was young.
@@ericagibson9814 not true, one of the guys from Metallica son actually played the solo… Joseph said hes a guitarist, but not a metal guitarist in an interview about the scene
Robert Trujillo’s son is the one who is actually playing the solo
@@kamoflawedhawg535 He actually "played" the song though. What they did was have Joseph play the song and they dubbed the son playing over it. Because Joseph goes note for note with the song as it's played. If you know how to play the song you can watch him play it just fine in the show.
I watched this clip first couple months ago cause I know the song before watching the show. I finished the show yesterday and this scene was truly a masterpiece 🔥
I know they've basically said it won't happen, but if they don't bring Eddie back as "Kas The Bloody-Handed", I'm gonna be LIVID. They hinted at it so hard in this season and it would fit so perfectly. The bat tattoo, bat puns, actual bats, Eddie being ashamed of being a coward, then becoming a hero by sacrificing himself to help save his friends, dying via BATS. Not to mention the fact that it seems like anyone who dies in the Upside Down is eventually used as a weapon or pawn. It would only make sense for Vecna to revive Eddie as some sort of twisted version of himself and use him, just as the mind flayer used Billy. Then, towards the end, have Eddie/Kas snap out of it and turn against Vecna to give his friends the upper hand.
This scene is one of the best in entire Stranger Things Series.
Best only after Dustin and Suzie singing
It's a tie between this and Max escaping the Upside Down.
Both brilliant scenes and masterful writing
@@divyanshnarang6376 thats right lol
@@hyrulemazta2296 These two along with imo Eleven closing the gate are the best epic scenes in the series, but there's also a few of the smaller just characters talking moments that I would say are just as good.
@@divyanshnarang6376 honestly that scene almost ruined the entire episode for me. It was just cringe.
It’s so rare that metalheads get a good portrayal in popular media and Eddie really proved himself to be very loveable and metal af. Rip Eddie, you broke the mold and made the metal community proud especially with this legendary performance
He was sweet, had a strong personality and was funny as hell. He became one of the most lovable characters in a well strablished show in a season and had a meaningful death. Cannot ask more, really...
“Made the metal community proud”. I understand that metal doesn’t get portrayed good but dude he played a not hard song, it’s badass but not anything special
@@vel1949 the point is not that its hard the point was that this is what a metalhead would have learned when it came out. If you think metal is only represented through complexity then you're just full of shit.
Proud??ahahahahahaha it’s a movie he’s not dead for real🤣🤣🤣 the comunity proud lol
@@ReginaCopado uuuhhh....he was still selling drugs to kids and about to be a drop out. I think that's the usual cliche used for metalheads. I'll be impressed when they deviate from that. I loved the scene but it's not that special
Playing that song while the town look like it's in hell was the most epic metal moment
THAT DUDE IS ON FIRE FLAME ON🔥🔥🔥
What I love about eddie is he is being true to himself. He doesn't do what he does because he thinks it's cool, he does it because he enjoys it! He plays DnD even though most kids think its weird. He acts playful and crazy not because its a trend, but because it really is his personality. He doesn't act tough and strong, he knows to himself that he isn't a hero type. Everything he does is the true reflection of himself! Even in his last breath, he never stopped being himself.
Eddie probably saved alot of people even before vecna. He saved alot of bullied and rejected kids from their loneliness.
Eddie is a true hero.
A true Metal Head doesn't care two shits of what others think. LOL
I love this
Im recommendin you guys band Treat and their latest album Endgame, it is very melodic rock rooted in 80's. Awesome album:)
Eddie may have been a hero, but you died to save us from a shitty ending Night King :(
Your death was pretty crud ngl..
Legend says Eddie’s solo was so powerful, he was able to give everyone in the Upside down a bardic inspiration even though they weren’t near him.
The most underrated comment here. People kinda forgot that Stranger Things is about DnD.
@@artemshishaev428 So they add 1d4 to their next d20 roll? 🙂
Is it possible to learn this power?
@@xenomorphkiller6489 “Not from a Jedi…”
@@Sitharos Not enough for THAT solo. I'd suggest a free reroll of any die keeping highest.
THE BEST SCENE EVER.
One of the best scenes in television I have ever seen
"Chrissy, this is for you..." that's one of the most emotional words said in Stranger Things
Yes
I'd say the the last three seasons lol
@@AHHHHtoast say what u say, i dont have problems
Eddie did this to avenge Chrissy’s death, help his friends and save other residents Hawkins from Vecna's rain of terror. And he did it, he truly avenged her death and saved everyone.
@@skyfaller3d417 yes, he did
The fact that Eddie's actor Joseph Quinn actually knew how to play guitar and played this makes it even more badass, the most metal scene ever.
Totally. I play and was like holy shit he’s actually playing it!
He has a guitar playing double, sorry to break it to you
Most of song is original and I heard that the son of Robert Trujillo (the current bass player from Metallica) played the extra guitar parts
@@fewtch2273 the double only played the solo, the rest is Joseph still.
Nailed it
FLAME ON 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This scene and eleven closing the gate in season 2 are the two best scenes in not just this show but in TV history absolutely a masterpiece
Stranger things: how much epic do you want that scene to be?
Eddie : yes
First
@@ace_ducky who cares
@@Rx_is_the_goat I care
The fact that Joseph Quinn can actually play guitar this well, according to the Duffer's, makes it all the better to me.
Makes it 100% better when the hands match up with what your hearing

he’s actually playing in real time lol. he’s really talented
maybe, but he did have a hand double for this scene
This scene gave me goosebumps.
