I smiled that whole interview. He seems like such a nice, humble dude. Funny too. Doesn’t take himself too seriously. I wish him all the success and happiness and can’t wait to see his future projects!
Joseph Quinn seems like such a genuine person, so humble and such charisma. I don’t think anybody else could have played the part of Eddie Munson nearly as well as he did!
Eddie Munson was so popular because it's very VERY rare you'll find a metal head in a mainstream show and not completely botch the shit out of it or just have the character be super depressing. Eddie brought that side that people don't always care to get to know. We're loud tenacious, charming, funny, loyal and despite what we look like or listen to, we're a really solid community of people. Eddie represented us in a way that hasn't been done in a really long time, if ever. The way the Duffer Brothers incorporated him seamlessly into the show and didn't overdo him. Even down to his outfit, Battle vest and hair. He looks just like every metal head I know. It was super surreal and fun to see and it's a shame he had to go. His last episode was every metal heads dream in high school. Getting to play some heavy fuckin metal to such a broad audience is the goal and he killed that shit 🤘🤘
I couldn’t agree more!!!!! Metal heads are usually portrayed as depressed MF’s with dark aura’s, but the way they portrayed Eddie was fantastic!!! I could really relate to his character the most out of everyone. As soon as he started playing Metallica, I LOST my shit! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 it was such a badass moment in the show!
I agree with you. In most mainstream and even more underground media, alternative people whether they be metal heads, punks, goths, etc are almost always portrayed as bad guys and not fully fleshed out characters. I love Eddie and that he wasn’t portrayed in a stereotypical manner. But I hate that they took such a great and different character and killed him off.
You know what makes Fallon such a great host? It’s that he’s a total fan boy. He’s always star struck and nerding out. He’s not some host who find out who his guests are an hour before they are on, he’s a host that already runs a fan account and owns merch. It’s so sincere
The amount of love Joseph is getting is CRAZY (he totally deserves it), but I’ve never seen such a response to a character and an actor from the whole world…. He’s gonna be an A-list SOON
@@inhuman_human6790 that we never got to see his work in England is still kind of awesome now we can go back and check it out. He really just really he shown so bright as a star. i am so proud of the young dude. He's a handsome, polite seems to be a very sweet kid. He is a great acto and his character was refreshing. Sometimes adding a new cast members It can completely fuck up the beauty and chemistry that had already existed with the original cast. However, that hasn't happened I think Max (Sadie Sink) is a great example, I hope she doesn't die Robin, and Erica 2 more additions that rock. Murray, I friggen love him. . We already know what happened to Eddie maybe flashbacks or dream sequences but we can't undo it we have to live with it even though it sucks. I also feel so strongly they cannot make Vecna good guy. Looking back he was never a good guy because even if he was abused by "Papa" that may have drove him further into his madness and homicidal ways, however he came the lab like that. He had already murdered his family and all that other stuff so at any rate I just wanted to totally geek out over this!! I'm so happy the show makes me so happy. It's the little things. Man, my mom just passed away in May and grieving has been you know cathartic (also very sad. She was the most beautiful human, ever) there's a difference between being depressed or having anxiety and to actually grieving it seems more of a organic and a healthy process Having things like this to take my mind off of it I'm utterly grateful. So, thanks Joe thank you Duffer Brothers, thank you Stranger Things ♥️ "Friends don't lie"
This guy has a gift. He's handsome, he's talented, everyone loves him. I am 41 and last time I saw people going so crazy for an actor was for Leonardo DiCaprio soon after "Titanic" in 1997. This young man will become a star, I hope success don't ruin him. Never change Joseph!
people are doing the same with Austin Butler, and those who arent interested in elvis will be probably be seeing him in Dune 2 or something else in future
I had a friend who was just like Eddie when I was younger, lost him too soon and seeing Joseph’s portrayal of Eddie was like seeing my friend again. Needless to say I latched on immediately. I just hope he knows how thankful we are for his fabulous embodiment of the character. It was the closure I needed tbh. edit: y'all are so sweet thank you for the kind words❤️
I don't think that's super fair to the writers; Eddie was huge part of season 4, to the point where Joe did a lot of interviews alongside cast who have been mains since season 1 (including before the season premiered, so it's not like he was only there because he blew up). He had an actual small part on GoT and no one cared. Joe brought an amazing amount of talent and charisma to the role of Eddie, but he was also given a really fun character to work with, and got a pretty large amount of screentime given the cast is so big.
@@geegeezlouis86 they gave him a good base but even the duffers said they didn't had Eddie figured it out until Joe auditioned and how they didn't know how much Eddie was going to be part of the main story until they saw Joe play him. In the last 2 episodes he has like 10 mins of screentime and look at how much those minutes are talked about. As much as the writers did he took that and made it memorable and fun and interesting and more than what was in the page, his improvs were also some of the most talked about moments. Same with his voice, facial expression, tantrum, the whole scene with chrissy and his introduction scene where the duffer said every other actor that auditioned made Eddie too threatening and unlikable and Joe took it to another place.
I love him. He’s so shy and introvert but opened of mind at the same time, it’s insane. He’s just so talented, I’m really proud of him. He just steal the whole show with one season ! His voice, his role, his talent, his charisma >>> he’s the best, I really love him.
Don’t you guys just LOVE how Joe interacts with the audience??? Most people completely ignore the audience when they’re on The Tonight Show. Joe is so sweet, and on top of that he’s gorgeous, AND funny, AND humble. Idk what we did to deserve him, but hey💜
damn after hearing him and talking about Master of Puppets, if they ever needed an actor to play Jimmy Page for a Led Zeppelin biopic he would be perfect
He's on the roll. I love his attitude and humble character. Bet he is really kind and a nice person. Really enjoyed Eddie Munson's character in ST4 and it was really sad for me, emotional that his character was killed. Not able to redeem himself at all to people who awfully misunderstood him. 💕
Yessss it reminds me of Snape whom the world never knew of how good loyal man he was and everybody thought the worst of him when he was a hero until the end. 😢
that scene where eddie tells dustin to never change is hands-down one of the mist heartwarming ones in the entire show. really shows the genuine love they share in their friendship.
He was incredible in season 4. I don’t normally like new characters as much as an original cast… but somehow I loved all the new characters in season 4 even more than the original cast
Agree. For instance Maya Hawke when she showed up I was like wow, that's cool, Uma Thurman's daughter, and she's acting pretty well, too, fun character. That was season 3. And now in season 4...almost every line of hers is some trashy dumb joke and she doesn't have much depth of story, just the crush on the other girl.
Joseph has this most wholesome and delightful awkward aura that makes him amazing person to bounce with for other actors/comedians. It's always wonderful to see how he interacts with other people and elevates the whole conversation to be so much funnier. He just seems like a really cool person, I hope that never changes.
1.8 Million views and it hasn’t even been a whole day yet. This man is very loved. Rightly so. Eddie Munson is one of the best characters in tv history.
Kinda stretched by far . Tony Soprano, Walter White , even Sheldon Cooper ? I admit Eddie is amazing but you can’t just act like many more amazing characters don’t exist .
@@Moneymannn02 true i love eddie so much but labeling him as the GREATEST tv character just doesnt do justice to all the other truly amazing tv characters
@@Moneymannn02 yea, but like, Walter white isn't that likeable, he is in some scenes like "IM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS". A lot of well written characters aren't the most likeable. Eddie was well written even with just one season to develop his character, and he is super likeable. he 100% isn't the best character in television criticaly speaking. But based off of the audiences love for a character, I haven't seen such a liked character in a while as much as eddie has been loved.
If this video doesn’t prove how passionate Joe’s fans are I don’t know what does. 2.5M views in under 48 hours. We all just need more of him. Brilliant actor!
Eddie was the character I empathized with the most. I am really sad, that he died in the last season but I am really happy for Joseph Quinn to have gained so much popularity by bringing Eddie Munson to live. Thank you sooo much 🙏
Growing up in a small town in the 80’s, I knew some guys who were EXACTLY like Eddie Munson. You didn’t want to mess with them but they were also full of heart. Long hair, D&D, guitar, the whole bit. We’ll done, Joseph Quinn.
Joe's hand is ACTUALLY SHAKING @ 6:41. Poor guy was so nervous but he played it off so well!! 🥰 it's amazing to realise that the play fight with Dustin in that scene was completely unscripted. Shows how quickly Joe (and of course Gaten) can think on their feet and make a scene like that so much more memorable ✨Though I must say, after Jimmy mentioned Joe's accent on the show and doing other accents etc - they could have chosen another ST scene where Eddie talks more, like, COME ON!! Eddie only says two sentences in that play-fight scene! They could have chosen the cafeteria scene or the Hellfire Club scene! Or basically any other scene (that doesn't have spoilers)😁
Oh my god, is that true? I didn't know that was improv goddamn. It really feels like everything I genuinely loved about Eddie was brought to the character by Joseph, I'm so so glad he was cast.
@@Ray-hk1zm yeah! that and the part with Chrissy in the woods where he pretends to get shot in the heart, the 'dontcha big boy' with Steve with they're stealing the motorhome, the 'i love you' man in the Upside Down..all improv!
@@KickedMangoStudios Yeah, those ones I knew about, but I'd never heard that bit was unscripted, too. Do you know if "never change, Dustin Henderson" was improvised?
I remember Jonathan Bailey when I look at him. Bot of them are so genuinely humble and down to earth. I see a bright future to both of them and that stardom don’t ruins their character.
I love how nervous he was to do the accents lol. He’s just such a REAL guy. You see people on these talk shows all the time who have a big head or seem extremely superficial, but he’s just so down to earth. He deserves every bit of notoriety he’s gotten recently and I can’t wait to see what he does in the future. I also hope that we maybe see him in season 5 of Stranger Things somehow lol.
@@zachsmith5766 there’s a difference between being told something vs actually doing something in front of a live audience while being recorded for the first time. just being told what you’re going to do doesn’t completely prepare you
The moment I really liked his character Eddie was a few minutes after his introduction (and even more with Chrissy I mean come on!!!). When he jumped on the table and then was interacting with the club. I was like, "he's just being his honest self". I loved that! Especially somewhere like high school where everyone wants to fit in. Eddie didn't care. It makes me hope that kids in school accept themselves for who they are and what they like. And can we say Jospeh is a wonderful person!
He went from being a guard at the gates of Winterfell, to arguably one of the most loved fictional characters of the past few years in one of the most successful shows of the decade! I wish Joseph all the best, and hope he remains as humble as he is presently ♥️
@@kate___lynch if you end up liking the show i can assure you that out of all things *spoilers* will be the LEAST of your concerns for two whole years, i bet my own soul you'll be back on this comment and still be like "WHY DID I WATCH IT?! Can’t believe this was his first ever talk show! I’m so glad joe’s getting so much recognition. His performance as Eddie was immaculate! He’s so talented and deserves all the love and support ❤️
Eddie Munson is a one-of-a-kind character, and I'm so glad all of us got to fall in love with him at the same time. To say Joe did a wonderful job in bringing him to life would be a gross understatement.
I've gone through this series because I grew up in the 80's. When they finally gave me a character I could genuinely relate to of an unpopular kid that liked metal music and D&D in Eddie Munson... season 4 was the series that finally got me hooked. All that viewing time with the first 3 seasons suddenly seemed worth it. They then have Eddie shredding Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' in the Upside Down.... the most epic metal scene ever? Then the bastard writers killed him off! I will never forgive them for that.
He was definitely an interesting character in that he was different to the others. It’s such a shame. Lazy writing in my opinion. I hope Dustin becomes a metal fan now
SO TRUE!! but it’s somewhat bittersweet because… he has been casted in some really exciting films coming up… he just recently finished filming a quiet place and he has some other films he has to film so maybe conflict with filming ST season 5 :(
Eddie Munson is for the freaks. For the people that were considered outcasts, who were bullied for being different. For those who live for the music and never take their headphones off so they can't hear their own thoughts. For the people that had an emo phase in seventh grade and still have band posters all over their room. For all the "black sheep" of the family. The ones who stay awake at night wondering if they're actually a good person. Eddie Munson is for the ones who never felt like they belong, fit in. For the ones who make impulsive decisions just to feel something, just to feel that they're still alive. For the people who would do anything for their friends. For all the queers, odds and nerds who were brave enough to break the norms. I hope Joseph knows how much we all love and support him. He’s a wonderful human and deserves nothing but the best 🫶
i love this comment its amazing dont get me wrong, but a character is not just for a certain group of people. Yes, if you can relate to him good for u, im glad. A character should be for everybody tho. Just saying.
He was the perfect casting for Eddie. Joseph Quinn seems like such a great guy to meet and hang out with. Glad to see he’s getting more recognition for the impact he’s had on the whole community of people who watch the show
it’s just so amazing that a side character on stranger things with not even that much screen time on ONE SEASON can make such an impact on so many people. joseph should be very proud of himself! the duffer brothers did a great job casting him but a poor job at keeping him on the show. i hope he goes on to do great things in his career. he’s so talented. i know all this attention must be very overwhelming for him though. i would be crapping bricks everyday if i gained a ton of fame in such a short time. i wouldn’t know what to do 😂
Absolutely stellar performance of a character, fully fleshed out and only appeared for such a short time. Joseph Quinn, thank you. The reason we all love Eddie Munson is because of his genuine kindness, openness, and compassion towards anyone and everyone. He is a truth teller and a story teller...which is very hard because it is hard to write someone genuine who tells stories without also making them a liar. Most of all Eddie is the face of a generation of freedom fighters...those who stood up against the world and died for a cause greater than themselves...for the freedom of self expression and the freedom to nerd out and enjoy playing games and being heroes to ourselves and eachother.
Anyone else noticing how extremely nervous he is? But he is trying his best to control it? U can see it when Jimmy brings up the accents, his hand is shaking n also when he is doing the accents 🥺🥺🥺
He really is, but then I put myself in his shoes and realize how crazy this all must be for him. I mean not only is he getting more recognition, he’s becoming famous in America of all places and we’re wild here (in terms of fanbase/fangirls). Paps, interviews, press, and his first late night show. So I understand why he’s as overwhelmed as he is. He’ll get better with practice like all actors do.
Joseph Quinn seems like such a precious soul. He played the heck out of Eddie Munson and I really hope they bring him back next season, even if it's a flashback. Seriously one of the best characters on Stranger Things.
The Duffers will be cruel and have a demogorgon carrying his head next season or something just because he’s like the biggest fan favorite the show has had.
0:48 Right here, when he slipped into the American accent and leaned forward, I could see some of Eddie's mannerisms in the way he moved. The change in accent made almost no difference to me, but I've noticed that leaning forward and moving his head a little more are both things Eddie did to accentuate his words in multiple scenes. It was so weird--like, I know it's the same actor, and I know he and Eddie almost don't look or act alike (Eddie's an extrovert while Joseph seems more shy and polite), but he just became a different person in the way he held himself. That's how you know he's good at his craft! So cool!
Oh he’s going to make it even bigger in the filming industry. This is just the beginning of his well deserved success. Can’t wait to see him in more shows/movies
He's the love baby of Heath and Robert Downey Jr.... I hope he wins an oscar in the future too (and he might, he's a really talented actor)..... and I also wish he gets a big role, like maybe the next Iron man ....
Joe is an amazing human being and he doesn’t know how much people love him. It’s crazy. Not just because he’s attractive, because he’s an amazing person, incredible actor and his smile can just brighten someone’s day. Just by seeing it. Love you, Joe❤️
The moment he came onto our screen our entire family was looking to see who he was, he had charisma from the first episode! We were all crushed when they killed Eddie off, we love the other characters but Joseph stole our hearts from day one. I can’t remember the last time I saw an actor rise up so fast, I’m sure this all seems like such a whirlwind to him. Wishing him the very best future, he deserves it 👍🏻
This dude seems genuine and happy. I hope his career stays on course blossoms into something even more beautiful. I pray he doesn't end up consumed or tainted by anything negative in life. Wish him the best. ❤️
Out of all the seasons of stranger things. Eddie Munsons character has stolen my heart. I’ve never cried so much when he was killed. I didn’t even cry when Billy died in season 3.

so true!!!

For real. I love Jimmy! I hate when people dog on him or say he fake laughs. No way.

The amount of love Joseph is getting is CRAZY (he totally deserves it), but I’ve never seen such a response to a character and an actor from the whole world…. He’s gonna be an A-list SOON

He really just really he shown so bright as a star. i am so proud of the young dude. He's a handsome, polite seems to be a very sweet kid. He is a great acto and his character was refreshing.

Joseph Quinn proving that there's no such thing as small parts just small actors, he took very little and made it memorable

I think it's just a playback error or something. The shaking doesn't really look that natural.

I hope Dustin becomes a metal fan now
SO TRUE!! but it’s somewhat bittersweet because… he has been casted in some really exciting films coming up… he just recently finished filming a quiet place and he has some other films he has to film so maybe conflict with filming ST season 5 :(
I grew up then, too. He's who I would have looked up to, in high school. I was 13/14, in 86.
For all the queers, odds and nerds who
were brave enough to break the norms.

The reason we all love Eddie Munson is because of his genuine kindness, openness, and compassion towards anyone and everyone.
