I think this is my all-time favorite boat race. That 47' Apache looking for blood. Engines roaring, with that massive long deck, eating those rollers alive. Goddamnit, is there any thing more beautiful in this world!!!
You are spot on with that comment what an amazing race
ey you got a link for the full race mate?
Battle axe vs spaceships
I can’t think of any my friend. Thank you for such a spot on comment!!
no, there isn't 😁
This is still the best rough water navigating and throttling video of all times!! 6-8', 90-100mph no problem.
Filmed by NNRT -
You gotta love that 47 Apache Hull....It's timeless when the big water comes...
I probably watched this video 50 or more times this is still the best offshore powerboat race clip on all of RUclips!! Apaches are legendary for a reason
A NNRT clip - I filmed it, glad you like it !
I don't know....

When the water get's rough, Apache Powerboats step up!
2400rocket - Lucky Strike is in Reno. The owner is in the process of restoring a 41 Apache and will restore Lucky Strike once the 41 is completed.
Racing ain’t like this anymore this is edge of your seat blown out of your mind racing these guys are animals I love it
That 47 FT Apache was definitely in it's element! Going full throttle in heavy seas is what a Apache 47 does best!
the original cat killer
I loved watching Tom M. race! He was fierce in the roughest stuff! I miss the old days!
My God!! Now we are talking! The golden days of Offshore Power Boat racing!!! Big old resin boat beating the hell out of the newer age boats!!! Run damn you run!!!
Never owned an off shore Apache race boat but I do own the Original 1967 Nova24 race boat. I have to say I have never saw a boat that is more graceful in the snot in any of these old race videos then an Apache. Like my Nova they don't seem to like flat water at all but when the waves pick up they more then come to life. Wow!
47 Apache my favorite race boat to this day
It's AMAZING that this video is from 33 years ago (1990) and the speed & handling seems DO CLOSE to what we see now!!!
the chopper was riding the chop nicely
we were low, and stayed there !
Wow thanks for uploading.
That Apache starts Dragging there Asses😅
That was just beautiful!!!!
This boat was an animal ! Just imagine if it had 1550hp Sterling engines dam that would have been impressive.
The Apache CRUSHED them!
That Lucky Strike kicks some serious ass!
0:18 that boat right there had V8 detroit diesel blown and twin turbocharged, they outlawed the diesels not long after this
Amazing
I remembered that race! Meshinskey's 47 apache running in ideal conditions that day being very rough I thought for sure the big superboat vee would have one. That day victory went to Eike Batista in spirit of the amazon,a huge 50 ft. Cougar packing 4 Gentry turbo engines. Its sister boat Gentry Eagle took 2nd!
Eike and Gentry had nothing in common except for their engines. At the end of the KW 1990 Lucky Strike came in second, first was Eike. Lucky Strike lost by 2 or 3 points.
Thanx Tom for your reply! I am in Key West now covering the race, Last Wednesday was brutal! Many boats flipped, some totally destroyed! It is w/o a doubt your dads old Apache(I think its a poker run boat today) would have ruled! When I was referring to Sister boat of Eike,Gentry's boat was also a 50ft. cougar
Lucky strike, what a badass boat
Apache slices through the rough stuff like a sharp knife 🗡️
I LOVE TOM MESHINSKY APACHE, CORE NAVIGATING
STRIKEING THE CATS!!!!
Man, gotta love a big V trimmed out and hammerin'.
Rest in peace Tom Gentry. My parents saw the stuff. Not pretty from what I hear.
Was THERE sitting in skiff out front of "Gallion"marina @ turn 4 happened maybe 100 yards in from of me . @ mark the were lots wake's from other boats & chop sent Gentry in a flip . The truly amazing thing was that 1 boat stopped right next to them & a crew member took off his helmet & dove off the bow of his boat to try & save the crew of the "Eagle " THAT took REAL BALLS .... Nevet forgot that day .
Are those 3 arneson drives on the Apache ?
Lucky Bastards
Best big water race boats on the planet.
He was running wide because he was looking for rougher water
I'd kill a baby to get my hands on that boat, that would be incredible
Schoolin the Cats!
