Having sat through my son's honking and squeaking on a tortured clarinet throughout his high school band days gives me a great appreciation for the discipline and commitment these kids bring.
I think Roman has the camera on a stand controlled from a PC, anyway that's how he was recording at the Sant Andreu Jazz Festival 2019 in September. Gracies Roman for the high quality video postings, they are a pleasure to watch. The videos you posted from the SAJF 2019, are very special for me, as I was there, often sitting in the front close to you and your cameras. We kind of got to know each other and tried to communicate, often in sign language. How I regret not knowing Spanish or Catalan.!
Some good stuff here, for sure! I specially love Alba on Daahoud, but I love her on anything. Those songs that started life as jazz instrumentals and then had words added to them are always fascinating -- and a real challenge for the singers, I'm sure. But Alba conquers this one, as did Andrea on Moody's Mood for Love. Thanks for posting this, Roman. I hope it is a nice preview of what will later become full-blown SAJB "regular" recordings, with multiple cameras, professional sound, and fancy lighting. (we are *so* spoiled!)
@@robertthompson6346 I agree, but I think it goes further than that, because a lot of singers can read music. I think the fact that these girls (now women) are excellent musicians playing their own instruments is a big factor here. But maybe that's what you meant, I'm not sure.
Beside all the "usual" great stuff like the crisp tightness of the band... and the "newbies".. a male singer! And... what a voice! Looking forward to hearing more of him!
So neat to see the "kids" growing into "young men and women" before my eyes. AND even neater to see how they have progressed in their musical ability. Good job, Joan Chamorro! So glad there are videos often so your fans can keep up with the progress of the band...
I am a huge fan, I love putting my headphones on every evening. I have watched many of these cuts on RUclips. I have watched many interviews with Joan and Andrea. My question is, "Does Andrea speak English?" She absolutely sings in English so beautifully but when she is interviewed she never speaks in English. If she is singing in English by rote she is so much more talented than I first realized. Seriously, I do not want to be arrogant, I am a true fan...Thank you Joan and all! The absolute highest respect to all in Sant Andreu Jazz Band. From Joe in Los Angeles. You are all amazing. Thank you.
@@patrickyoung3503 A year or 2 ago she did an interview with, I think, a radio host in Germany. They did it in English because they didn't understand each other's language but both knew English. It was a relief to understand Andrea then. Very in-depth interview.
Yes, Joan is challenging the veterans with new music. They have some new talent this year so we will see how it works out. So far, Martha Vives is off to a good start.
Roman, what's the Date of this concert please? Sept. 2019? (just a suggestion: please add the DATE to the TITLE via Edit button, and also suggest adding "Festival Esperanzah" to the TITLE - just suggestions). Thank you so much for posting this concert!

Joana Casanova has an absolutely fabulous voice‼️👍

In addition to so many of their other artists, I'm becoming a Martha Vives fan. Love her solo work here on "Can't Help Lovin' That Man". 8:00
Felicitats Joan, fas una feina admirable.
Hermosos músicos jóvenes y hermosas interpretaciones.
Wow! Everyone is so talented and dedicated!

Thank you, Roman. Keep them coming for those of us thousands of miles away but wish we were there.
thank
Yes! Thousands of miles away and indeed we are so spoiled! 100 thumbs up! 😁
I'm enjoying this concert . Thanks a million .
lovely concert, congratulation, and thank you for the show this Juvenil talent
Exelente,gran actuación,desde Uruguay,saludos
A trove of new songs, and - man! - how are these kids (ehm) young guys maturing!
Thanks a lot for your patience to hold the camera so long!

EXCELENTE SANT ANDREU JAZZ BAND. ME ENCANTAN.
Joan Marti is the hardest working guy in the group esp if you watched Roman's Jazzing video.
Terrific concert - many new names and faces to catch up with and enjoy. Thank you for posting, Roman.
Thanks so much for filming this and sharing. Can't get enough of SAJB!
FANTASTIC AS ALWAYS, SAJB and The Maestro, JOAN CHAMORRO!!

I love these longer videos of SAJB. Joan is my hero

The song is 'Daahoud' by clifford Brown. i don't think they have done this on RUclips before.

Nice to see Alba Esteban featured!
She has the Stefan Grapelli style and sound. All she needs is the speed, highs and dips of Grapelli. Yeah, that gypsy touch. Make that violin sing.
IIf you listen to some of the other tracks featurng Elia, especially Stardust/Shine with Scott Hamilton, I think you will revise your opinion.

Great to see on RUclips so quickly after the actual event, thanks Roman. (I forgot to say after I watched the whole thing last Monday!!)
Another fine find. Thanks !!

maravilhosooo!
Hi there. We are HUGE fans and would love the names of the songs in English please xx
Has someone else played Doralice on the tenor sax and sang it?
Making Whoopies ? Fascinante !
I wonder what tune Alma A was singing and scatting?
The song is Clifford Brown's "Daahoud". The lyrics were written later. trying to look into that more
@@gregmccarthy4528 Thanks. I found, on Spotify, a singer named Denise Donatelli singing Beloved (Daahoud) on her album What Lies Within.

Another question: What is the first tune, Joan Marti solo? It's so familiar but I can't come with the name and Joan is talking too fast for my ears.
"Catalonia Nights" by Dexter Gordon.
