Superb clarinet, superb front trio, and Carla's swinging guitar is superb (as always). Kudos to the swinging bass and piano players! The thing I love in Joan Chamorro's music is his way of playing this old material as if it was new (and it ACTUALLY IS NEW if you play it like this): this is not one of those boring "revival" stints, it is alive and kicking,
not enough love in the comments for the drumming on this one...Abril keeps the pace beautifully...and plays some nice jazz fills!! thanks as always Joan x
Yes, he's not in the SAJB for a long time. Here a link from the "Taller de Músics" in Barcelona where he is now studying. He's trying new ways. We'll hear about this girl. ruclips.net/video/77JzuDzhV3I/видео.html
Some people say Jazz is dead, but yet some people stand up and prove it isn't. You are one of them, Maestro! Well done, you taught these kids very well.
People who said that jazz is dead had a pretty shallow idea of what jazz is, who's playing it, who's listening to it and why. So, here WE are, diggin' it to beat the band, so to speak!
Carla has so beautiful voice by singing in trio..I just wondering why doesn´t she sing more..May it comes later.Btw. the guitar solo was Great .Compliment for the whole Chamorros band.!
Absolutely wonderful rendition. Love the sound of the three voices; love the guitar; love the clarinet, piano everything really. It all comes together like a grilled cheese sandwich. Amazing how these very young kids can play this music and infuse it with an entirely new sense of musical adventure
Never ceases to amaze me how such a big, tight sound comes out of a comparatively small group. Amazing arrangements, extraordinary performances all around!
Everybody on that stage is an accomplished soloist. Put them together with a common purpose and the right coach and you end up with a helluva team. Allán Vaché is wonderful as are Ignasi and Carla, as always. (Some of those sax players can play clarinet; you don't miss that sound until you hear it added in. Maybe it could be worked into more arrangements.)
What a delight! More Allán Vaché, please - There can never be enough clarinettists in this world, and when you get one like Allán Vaché he is to be treasured.
Great clarinet and piano solos and brilliant vocals. Great to see Carla singing with Elia and Andre. Solid performance from her on guitar too. Andrea and Elia strong as always.
Wow " " " - Heavenly Harmony - Swinging jazz tune - Carla's Soft, Smooth touch - Elia, Andrea - Allan lifted me off the chair - Ignasi - the Band - the worlds cooolest Drummer - And I really like hearing the Bass all the way though...New old guy in white shirt...He's as good as the Old guy with the Black shirts - Keep him around.
@@pipersnakis Thanks for the reply Leo! Got me to listen again with my new speaker. And Again - Allan was giving me chills on Mme Clarinet as you say. He really is something and first I've seen him was this vid. Will have to go back with this new speaker add-on I got and listen working my way through a lot of music . White shirt guy on base was terrific and everyone really. Our young band not so young anymore and have given us years of good music already. Aren't we lucky they came along. Thanks again Leo.
RIP dear Annie Ross who, with Dave and Jon , made this tune by Horace Silver fly. Everyone does a wonderful job. Perfect groove. Annie recently left us for a gig in Heaven.

I read or heard on one of the films that Andrea, although 'the star,' never ever upstages anyone and always supports them with warm smiles and appreciation of their solos. This project has produced worldclass musicians totally confident in their own ability with no need to project their own egos on or off stage. It is unique and wonderful to follow each day.
Very true, Andrea always performs whole heartedly whether she is the lead artist or in the chorus or just part of the band. In hundreds of videos I've never ever seen her trying to steal the limelight. The consideration, respect and warmness she shows for her fellow musicians is admirable.
@@ferreiraronald7873 I beg to differ: She's always been a "Rampensau", if only in her exalted movements. Notwithstanding support, respect and warmness!
@@paulsj9245 If "Rampensau" means someone who enjoys the limelight performing for an audience and is addicted to the stage, then Andrea is a Rampensau. The first video of her that I saw when she was 15/16, it jumped out at me, that not only was this adolescent a talented jazz musician but that she was at ease performing before a huge audience and in fact hugely enjoying it. But I've never ever seen Andrea trying to upstage fellow musicians when it's their turn in the limelight, I think we agree on that. I find her exalted movements graceful and in context as she is lives her music. I don't see where we disagree but of course you are welcome to disagree, I was only expressing my subjective opinion. But I think we both enjoy the SAJB and all the fabulous young musicians coming from the Joan Chamorro Stable, no disagreement on that?
What a surprice. I didnt know that the violinist Èlia Bastida also play tenor saxophone. But if you are talented and gifted, then you are! No limits! And I wish all a very good future!
Dear Joan Chamorro and the Band, thank you for always giving us a soulfulness performances. We can feel your love. And also thank you for giving me another opportunity to see Andrea Motis through your channel, i kinda missed her too. Once again, thank you. Wish you can spread much love to the world through your jazz. Warm regards, Your big fan in Indonesia
Priceless! The girls voices are so right on and each is a virtuoso on her instrument! Allan Vache's control of the upper register of the clarinet is magical. The clarinet can be a tough task mistress and only a magician like Vache can smooth out her squeaks and squawks. Add to this his ad lib skills and you have a jazz clarinet like few others. The whole group was right on the money! Bravo once again maestro Chamorro!
Thank you bringing your fantastic music to light. I may not be able to make it see you perform live, but these videos bring me such joy. Joan has done such a fine job as an educator and his enthusiasm has been caught by you womderful young jazz musicians. BRAVO!
Ah those sweet sounds of well articulated notes wafting about the air in my room. ❤🎺🎷🎹🎸🎤 🎶🎶❤. Can't get enough of this. Losing sleep watching because I know I'll not get a chance to see the group in person.
Excellently played by the band with great crooning. Special mention is however to the master, Joan Chamorro, who provided a thumping rhythmic bass that this piece requires. I also enjoyed Allán Vaché's clarinet solo and Abril Sauri's drumming.

Not so pessimistic! I just stumbled over "Essentially Ellington", a competition for high school jazz bands - tremendous music, almost as good as SAJB! ;)

Excellent analysis C S (Playing old tunes as if they were new) thanks for that.
I totally agree!
I think I'll just reply..yeah. That was some clarinet. Love to see them swingin'.
These kids live - so it's LIVE!
Joan, the future of jazz is secure with all these young people you have mentored. All the best to you and your school.

Carla Motis....terrific.

Also check out the london jazz scene - Alfa Mist, Yuseef Dayes, lots of great things going on in the less conventional sense.

Lovely to see Carla come to the fore, 👏👏👏❤️ she's always in the background.
Carla siempre discreta, pero siempre con gran talento. Debería lanzarse más, nada que envidiar a nadie...
What a wonderful recording! Really nice to hear clarinet, and I really love Carla Motis´guitar playing! 😎

These kids "Cook" with a capital "C" "I have seen the future of jazz....and it is Joan Chamorro"

I believe Horace would approve of this version with a WOW for young folks up front!!!!!!
