I agree. I don’t think poking fun or teasing is good for a relationship. It feels more like a friend thing than a romantic partner thing to me. Plus, it can spiral out of control in the long run, and become a difficult habit to break. I’m sure it’s fine for some people, but I don’t like it for my relationships. I guess it has to be done in the right way and not get too personal or offensive, which can be a fine line after you’ve been with someone for a long time.
I think if they make jokes to make you laugh like pulling your leg/made you look type jokes it’s probably not a big deal (had a guy do this recently). When the “joke” is an insult about you steer clear.
However after my experience with a “playful” narcissist for many years I’m leary of playful “funny” guys in general. When I was younger I liked guys that made me laugh. Married one and he became my biggest nightmare and turned out to not be cheerful and funny AT ALL behind closed doors. The exact opposite. Angry, jealous, abusive and accusatory.

I went out with a guy on a date who was an extreme version of #7. He wouldn't talk to me at all and it was soooooo awkward. I thought he was really cute so I tried being engaging but it was like pulling teeth. But when we were around other people he was so easy and sociable. I lost interest after a while because of this. When I told him I didn't want to see him anymore he messaged me that he was absolutely devastated because he liked me so much. That was really surprising to me.

I'm a female and an introvert. I feel like that's something all introverts struggle with. You have to be open minded to others personality traits and try not to take it the wrong way. You don't know why they act the way they do.

He probably didn't care as much about the interactions with other people, but when it came to you, it mattered more than anything else, and worrying about making a good impression and being likeable for you got to be overwhelming and paralyzing.

I deal with number 7 all the time. Even with online dating. The guys want to meet me but often don't have the courage to finally ask to meet me. Then I have to be the one to call them back for a second date. But the third date I can be hands off and they start taking more initiative. It's really work and there is always a risk of being rejected. Even tho I don't get rejected often, it sure does sting when it happens!

Well I haven't experienced any of these things lately. Haven't met any men recently. The last ones I met a few years ago showed no interest at all. Not putting myself out there on a limb to get cut down. Not doing it. I am going to assume that men are not interested or attracted unless/until they prove me wrong . Hi! I need advice. I've just met a guy who is 2 years younger than me and is extremely shy. We just started working together and since neither of us is very social, we ended up spending a lot of time together after work on weekends. I have a partner that I love very much. I had the feeling that this guy and I could be friends since we are both very comfortable around each other, and it's not piece of cake for us to find people to connect with. Trouble comes when he has started being touchy. I have other guy friends who are touchy with me but it feels natural and I can see there's no intention behind it. But this boy was extremely distant at first, to the level that he would do anything to avoid touching me, out of shyness or respect, but now that he feels a lot more comfortable he has started touching me a lot more.
With all of this, I just want to know if I should ask him how he feels because I don't want to give him the wrong impression. We laugh a lot and enjoy time around each other but I'm really looking for a friend. He is so shy and introverted that I know it would take him months to even consider opening up about it. What about when his attraction communication involves some nice things get to know him he seemed heart centered) now everyday I have to learn how to navigate his humour( which he's used to picking on people apparently so of course it's jokes feel targeted at my expense and make me feel uncomfortable and stupid for opening my mouth to actually talk . Some of these jokes include mockery for how much I talk .....disgusting references to animals and jokes about being gay or not being gay)... He says he really likes me and that he's shy.. but when we're together all we do is sit in his car and have coffee... I'll go to his friends house and watch him and up drunk and high... When he's sober.. it's like he becomes an incapable 5 year old toddler unable to talk about things... And wants me to do the talking... But also motions with his hands that all I do is yap...." blah blah blah that's all I hear" is one of the things he says to me...all while smiling and claiming it's a joke I should relax.. he says "if I didn't like you I wouldn't call you up to bring you to my friends house or ask you out for coffee" . like I should be grateful that we only do that... . He used to kiss me but doesn't now .. we go to the bar even though he likes me he gets other numbers.... In fact .. conveying all this to you I feel like I'm going crazy...
Oddly enough, my crush (who's not around right now since he's in Houston for vicarage) has done a lot of these things, but because of what he's said, I try to tell people, "He doesn't like me" even though his actions HAVE made me wonder if he does...at least a little bit.
