My dad was Ordsall born and bred, he and his family lived in an old 2 up, 2 down on Brunel St, off Corporation St which was off Trafford Rd, a stones throw from the dock gates.
I spent a lot of time there as a kid, from the mid 70's, to the mid 80's.
It was a VERY tough place and, 90% of the lads were scallies.
Doyley was and is a legend, but by all accounts an extremely loyal friend.
One thing about Salford lads is that they all stick together and, Doyley isn't exaggerating when he says he could raise a firm of 500 lads.
The death of Massey was tragic, my heart goes out to his family, the scumbag that murdered him is rightly getting a rough time in jail, only a few months ago he had his face badly slashed, he will very probably have to spend his whole life tarrif in solitary confinement.
He's a coward who deserves everything he gets.
Fantastic interview by the way James.

I herd from a Scouse lad who said they went on a night out with Doyle and about 100 friends and said Doyle is a absolute gentleman theirs was no trouble for the full night with over 100 lads out. Doyle would not allow any trouble or any bullies, also has he says a lot of 9 to 5 workers also went out with him and highly respected him, I was told the night out was around 2002 / 2003. The scousers talk very highly of him👍

No big ego just told it like it is read about him years ago in Book called Gang Wars about the Manchester and Salford Underworld from the late 1970s through to around 2005 so about 25 years. There is a chapter in the book about Paul Doyle and Graham Graham Boardman horrific what happened to him being tortured to death slowly over 3 days absolutely no need for that as Paul Doyle said totally against the rule book. We will be buying his book definitely as even though it was 3 hour long interview I'm sure his book will cover a lot more about his life..

UTD had the biggest firm in England back in the day. Everton and Liverpool would go away together to fight the mancs. its funny because mancs and scousers would go abroad together on the rob 😁

Another great interview by James somebody hit the nail on one of their comment James likes to listen to these interviews as much as we do as he wait for time to speak after listening and taken note and not just jumping into the conversation every second like some of them. Do fantastic interviewer is James English I can see this man being around for years doing these interviews. We are the lucky ones. Thanks again James English to another great one brother

@1:12:57 this is where the real money makers and the pawns are set apart. Some guys was business minded and would do anything to protect their interests and others were just muscle and got used as such and enjoyed the little money and fame that they earned but generally have got very little to show from it. The end is usually the same for both....jailed off or death. Doyley is still around to tell the tale

It amazes me, the difference between Northerners and Southerers. The amount of column inches, films etc, given to that Essex firm, from a similar era, who's story isn't a patch on Doyley's. I wonder if you told him what you got up to on Paisley Rd West when we played Rangers that time 🤣 Top man, top story

Probably due to 95% of the media being based in London. Or the south east at least. The mainstream media. They think that anything worth reporting only happens there.

This is amazing to listen to! I've still got about 30 mins til the end and I'm blown away. Paul is funny as f**k and obviously a real one. I believe everything he says. Great stuff James. Just for info, Sam Samworth did a short vlog about what Paul was like in his jail. He said he was a decent fella.
