Never been a fan of podcasts but I started giving yours a listen this week & been listing to them through the 7:30am - 17:30 standard shift pattern. Absolutely superb podcasts I’ve listening along to many of them. You’ve come so fair James over the last few years. Champion ! All the best lad.
This is the best interview I've ever watched. Ian is just brilliant and I could listen to his stories forever. What a life. Absolute class. Don't think you could top this one James.
Let me tell you, he was holding back on his accent, because of British viewers, some words he says is in a British way, for example police is not said how he says it in Scotland, it’s more like po-lus. I’m British but my family are Scottish and I spent a lot of time there so have no issues understanding, in fact I come back to England speaking Scottish lol, also my family are the Mac donalds also.
Used to serve Ian fairly regularly in a pub at the bottom of Kelvin Way. He'd come in with his dug, a bowl of water for it and a Guinness or two for himself. Have to say he was always a really sound guy!
This interview and your Paul ferris interviews are my favourites. Love how you let your guests speak, too many interviewers interrupt there guests. Top class mate!!
One of the best podcast interviews i have ever watched, 3 hours flew by in a flash. Blink has a great way of putting his stories across and I will be defo buying his book. And i have to say well done to James, he guides the conversation nicely without interjecting too much, which isnt easy to do at all, he is defo mastering the interview craft. Fucking joy to watch well done.
For some reason I really enjoy Ian's interviews more than anyone else seems a genuine guy, doesn't think he's the best thing since sliced bread . Done his time and reflects on it as a mistake.
The "Kill you in a blink of an eye" is bullshit, big time. He'd a twitch, can't folk fuckin remember, or get things right, like Jamie Stevenson "The Iceman" lol! Had an ice cream van, thats why. Jamie "The Bull" came from owning a big pit bull, "big deal" will be his next monicker, just pure nonsense. See sense, not nonsense.
@G 1 You're probably correct there pal, but i never watched this interview. does it mention the theory, myth about 'Killing you in the Blink of an Eye?' my source in the know told me, yah see i weas in this rehab up in Cambletown aand this female, older than me came in, and she'd some stories to tell. One certain name of Ferris would go to her house basically in tears about the Welsh's, and she said her Man would be coming to rehab too, so as she said, well couple of days later in walked Jim, her name was Catrioni, from Barmulloch, very nice people, older than me, and i'm 54, and this happened in 2010. She told me alot of things. She was one of these people that was'nt in with gangsters, but as her man did, and ran in these circles, she told me. How Stevenson started with the 'E's back in the early 90's to who Really shot Fatboy Thompson. She said 'everybody knows it was .... ..... who shot him' I believe her, as it's been verified by others. No i won't tell you, or anyone for that matter, but the clue is in my 'Full Stops' during her statement. One time i used to run around with bad guys, like one guy, started off as my co-pilot in C-Hall, and when i came back from 'Rec' there he was, in his white 'Y's' But had that 'Who the fuck are you looking at look' First thing he said was 'I put your radio on, is that alright?' I jokingly said 'Aye mate, infact you can keep it lol' That's Cal Connor for you, and a fully commital we did, i got my not guilty first, would go up with Diane his common law wife, give him a few 'Jimies' and then watched his trial in High Court in Ingram Street fall apart. So once he was out, we were inseperable. What a guy, and you can ask Mr Blink if he knew him. He would've known him, and feared him, yet Cal was only 5 ft 6 small, but give him a blade? Kill you in the blink of an eye, he did this in Holland, killed a guy who was annoying him, so met him outside, murdered him and tossed the body into a skip of all places. Got caught, did 18 months ovewr there, then got sent to Barlinnie, but they let him go, as why, what, how was he a prisoner in there? No reason to be honest, so 18moon for murdeer? Result, not tat i'm agreeing with murder, it's just the way his head must've been in that moment. One thing only a fool would do, and that would've been to go up against Cal. The Welsh's tried, and he gave them worse than what Ferris did. The serious crime squad wanted Cal out the picture, so he went and did a home invasion with Neil his brother, as guy was humping his missus, so in through the window they went, place was dark, next thing a body is running about in the dark, so the two of them start stabbing and slashing the guy. Squad arrived at Cal's home in Royston, and as he was getting dressed, a big copper said 'Aye, and what is this?' He was standing holding (according to Cal) a large shard of glass, and Cal said it was about 6-7 inches long, said he'd just found it under his pillow. Right you are lol! Not Proven was the verdict. Talking of slap's. You see my friend, you don't. My thing is, i was brought up in a state of ffear by a bastard of a stepclown, but he got his, but now it's left me living in a state of fear, yet nothing to fear, you getting me there? Or are you just of the opinion that 'He'll do this to you and that to you' Why is this guy a celebrity criminal anyway? Robbing a bank in Torquay. Where's the figure 6 Million come from? My main branch of The Royal Bank of Scotland doesn't have that much in it. You'd need to rob it 20 times in as many weeks lol! Well nice to reply, it'll keep you occupied...Paul.
My god that takes me back when he mentioned Kibble, Rosie Farm Polmont remember visiting them in the early 70s brings back so many memories of my brothers and the stories they told me later in life. Shouldn’t been aloud stuck with them the rest of their life’s. It’s quite emotional listening to that part we’re it really all began.

Just effortless by both men getting honest and telling it how it was. I would've given my right arm to have been involved in one of his night outs, right up my street and sense of humour, just magic. 10/10 thanks man

Enjoyed that James keep up the good work. Looking forward to the ferris interview, like mentioned by someone else I think mark Clinton could tell a story or two
To be honest I preferred the stories about the old days and his family than the crime story we have heard all that before I like hearing about Scotland back in my granny and papas days it’s brings back memories of the stories when I was young
Came across your interviews a few weeks ago James and have watched a number now. Fascinating characters, fascinating stories and very well presented. Keep them coming _ Dave
