    The fact the network kicked Herb for being gay but had 0 issue with Sarah Lynn's step dad being creepyb towards her is upsetting. But all too real with industry hypocrisy.

    • @nani11421
      @nani11421 3 года назад +464

      Well, technically, I’m pretty sure their problem wasn’t with Herb being gay, it was with the bad press. Sarah Lynn’s step dad being creepy wasn’t out in the press bringing bad attention to the show so they couldn’t have cared less.
      Doesn’t make the industry any less scummy though.

    Imagine if Bojack had stood up for Herb:
    -The network would keep him, since they were bluffing anyways
    -Horsin' Around stays on air and successful
    -Bojack develops a reputation as an actor ahead of his time, standing up for gay rights when the rest of Hollywoo would not
    -Herb and Bojack's friendship remains strong, with Herb there to support Bojack when he needs it
    -Bojack lacks as many regrets and thus has less cause for depression
    Things could've been wildly different with just that decision.

    • @magicjewel96

      As idealistic and preferable as that would be...we all know Bojack would've messed up at some point.

    • @WhiteCloudProductions
      @WhiteCloudProductions 2 года назад +318

      Yea. Bojack didn't go into that downward spiral until he lost Herb as a friend, yea, he was already developing alcoholism but he didn't get close to doing all the toxic shit he ending doing until he started dealing with the guilt of not standing by Herb. And the worst part is it wasn't even Bojack's fault. It was the network constantly speaking over Bojack when he was trying to stand with Herb and then feeding him lies that it's either his career or friend.

    • @WhiteCloudProductions
      @WhiteCloudProductions 2 года назад +22

      @eric Spencer Um, I said that he was already developing his alcoholism.... so.... yea. Already acknowledged that.

    • @WhiteCloudProductions
      @WhiteCloudProductions 2 года назад +23

      @eric Spencer uh, yes I can because I was comparing his alcoholism to that of when he was in his 50s. Not only that he wasn't an alcoholic in his early 20s. Before this particular event we can see that every time Bojack has a drink in his hand it's soda. Canonically in the timeline this is the really the furst scene we see him indulging in alcoholism. Which means his alcoholism started here. A.k.a it was developing around this time.

    • @WhiteCloudProductions
      @WhiteCloudProductions 2 года назад +19

      @togamiko gacha and yet, we can see him in the 90's being sober. Explicitly holding a soda in his hands. I've watched this show a bunch if times.

    SPOILERS
    .... Bo Jack really could have save Herb's career if he walked and ending the show was just an empty threat. I'm glad herb didn't forgive him because if he had it wouldn't have been the bitter truth the show likes to drop on a silver platter. But I do wish we could have gotten an episode of Bo Jack imagining what his life would have been like if he had quit the show for Herb and got his act together earlier in life. Kind of like how people do when we're laying in bed at night and thinking about all the horrible mistakes we've made.

    • @jordanloux3883

      Ultimately the show wasn't that big a deal. Herb managed to move on with his life pretty easily.
