This was from before they made Spectre and proved that to be one hundred percent true.

Fun Fact: The scene at the end of the movie with Scott, Seth Green came in an ad libbed in the last 20 minutes of shooting and Mike Myers & the producers loved it so much that they kept it in to finish off the film.

I had no idea this movie was so disliked, it is by far the funniest in the trilogy imo. This is one of the most quotable movies I know, there is just so many good lines in it. Sadly there is no part four, would loved to see how that would turn out.

I enjoyed Goldmember, but after the second movie, there were already 3 characters being played by Mike Myers, so adding a fourth was just overkill. I would have preferred to see Dana Carvey appear as Goldmember

With the way they were originally talking, I should've still been in high school when the 4th movie came out. It probably would've came out when I was a junior or senior. But nothing. And news/talks/rumors keep resurfacing every couple years. And with the way they were talking, the movie should've released several times already in the last 15 or so years.

Back in 2002 people were just kinda tired of Austin Powers because the second film was so quoted and there was a bit of a backlash. But there's no Austin Powers 4.
It's fine. It's fun. I'd watch it again. But it does borrow a lot from the previous two movies, and admitting that you're doing it doesn't make it any less tiresome. Also some of the gags go on way too long.
You would have needed to have watched the Sean Connery and Roger Moore films to get all of the jokes. Michael Caine's Harry Palmer films would help too.

Nigel (Austin’s dad) is played by Michael Caine. He is A famous actor who won best actor for his performance in Woody Allen’s Two Sisters for Hanna. He’s played a number of roles since the mid sixties if your inclined to see him in something besides playing Alfred.
One of Michael Caine movies “In Like Flint” was a major inspiration for this franchise, and references scenes directly from it. That’s why Myers wanted Caine to play Austin’s father, but also because Myers’s father was huge fan of Caine.
You should try playing The Operative: No One Lives Forever (1 and 2), if you never have. They have this same colorful 60’s spy theme as well, with a female lead character. They feel like the video game version of Austin Powers.

The biggest hit to the 4th film was Shrek becoming such a big hit.
Mike Myers said he wrote the script not expecting any of the big name actors to actually get cast. He said everything just came together.
