It's beautiful watching you talk without sound😘
Man, you _almost_ had me on the Patreon, but I need just a _little_ more than bloopers, early access, and behind the scenes. 😁
And here I was thinking that the Patreon stuff was just way too awesome to be heard on RUclips so it had to be censored.
This series has 3 movies. It was preceded by 2 other Zucker/Abrahams movies: Airplaine! and Top Secret! All 5 movies are considered classic and are must-see. After these, Jim Abrahams did 2 Top Gun parodies called Hot Shots! and Hot Shots Part Deux (both with Charlie Sheen), which veered in a more silly direction, but are really good... That is everything you need to know about the great Zucker/Abrahams movies...
Leslie Nielsen was a one of a kind comedian that is missed but not forgotten
he was a serious actor as well a very good one
Leslie Nielsen is in heaven, making fart jokes with George Carlin.
Let er rip
RIP Leslie
He co-starred with Don Knotts in the hit film The Reluctant Astronaut.
What do you mean "that'll be missed". He IS and has been missed. Been gone for a dozen years.
Before the Naked Gun movies and Airplane, Leslie Nielsen was known as a very serious actor. Also, the player who attempted to kill the queen was Reggie Jackson, considered to be one of professional baseball's all time greats.
Mr. October.
Reggie Jackson originally played for the Yankees but was cut by them and ended up with the Anaheim Angels. Despite early World Series success he never would appear in another again.
So good he had his own candy bar.
Leslie was also in Creepshow!
@@trhansen3244Actually, Reggie originally played for the Oakland A's (although he actually came up in 1967 when the Athletics were in Kansas City), and won three straight titles with them from 1972-74 before going to the Yankees.
"I've never heard of that ever"
That's because giant condom body suits are not a thing in real life lol. You're watching a comedy movie.
I don’t think she understands spoofs. She’s taking them too literally.
I could swear you'd seen Airplane!. Guess that needs to be on your list now. Also, this is based on a very short-lived TV series called Police Squad. It's worth a watch as well.
I would have bet anything she had seen Airplane!.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?" "I'm the locksmith and I'm the locksmith."
They recycle some of the Police Squad jokes with the Naked Gun films. So I recommend some time after before checking them out, so the jokes aren't as stale.
Police Squad was one of my all time favorites. Short lived is right! Almost an understatement , lol
@@karkajouautomaton4882 The same can be said about Mel Brooks' "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". Years earlier, he worked on a short-lived tv show, "When Things Were Rotten", and it also followed Robin Hood and his gang, and had some of the same jokes.
Leslie was 62 and Priscilla was 43 when the movie was made so the age difference wasn't QUITE grand-dad level, but still dad level.
Her obsession with age differences in adults is so tiresome
@@ColmPadraig It's a millenial/Z thing
Yes Thank You..he was older but Grandad no! Im surprised she didnt know Elvis was around in the 50's and she was his wife then, thought everybody knew that..how could she be that young in 1988..Elvis died in the 70's...Im just suprised by Mary, maybe cause im a big music fan but i thought everybody knows about Elvis and his life..
@@ColmPadraig Agreed! i think Mary is great but need to get off this age hang up thing..still luv Mary but come on now u know..
If Leslie were Priscilla's dad then he became dad at age 20, too young to be a parent and to grow kids.
“They make it so obvious, that’s fake”
Yea, that’s the point.
@rb2456 She seems really slow in the head tbh
Dear god I have never seen so many puns go over someone’s head because they took them literally.
Love ya Mary!
What made it even funnier for older generations is that the actor in his younger days was famous for playing very serious characters.
I'll say! The first time I saw him he was the love interest of a "Columbo" murderess 🙂
He was serious and don’t call him Shirley.
It must be exhausting not to be able to watch comedies without trying to find serious logic in everything.
I'm coming to the conclusion that younger generations simply don't get slapstick comedy.
Exactly! She’s trying to make sense of what is supposed to not be taken seriously:
@@williamsweeney3215 Precisely.
19:17 These are real people. Dick Vitale is probably the most famous college basketball announcer, and is pretty much like a mascot for that sport. Dick Enberg was a sportscaster who covered many different sports for NBC, CBS and ESPN. Dr Joyce Brother was a famous psychologist and media personality who gave advice to millions over the airwaves. She was in no way a sportscaster, which is part of the joke here.
Dr. Joyce Brothers was more or less the Dr. Phil of her day.
you take things in this movie way too serious.
How so?
@@ericromero6121 🤡
@@ericromero6121she took most of the jokes and gags too literal and tried to make sense of them
OJ starred in all three Naked Gun movies. The last of the three movies was released in early 1994, only a few months before his turn from fame to infamy.
The late Leslie Nielsen was one of the greatest comedic actors of all time. People still use images of him from Airplane! in memes, more than 40 years after that movie was released.
The payoff back and forth to reveal info at the boat dock has to be one of the funniest scenes ever! LOL
That guy is in every Naked Gun and some of the other ZAZ movies.
My favorite scene.
She obviously did not understood the slapstick humor.
"He could be her grand dad." They only had like 19 years age difference. He could barely be her father.
It's a comedy spoof! Time to throw all Whats and Whys out the window and go with the flow!! Lol
You should definitely watch Airplane
Not sure why. She didn't grasp the humor in this
@@moondog3056 I think slapstick even if at it’s most passive and surreal (the opening credits with the cop car going through the living room, a woman’s locker room) is kinda lost in “fail” video land
Surprised you skipped the "Nice Beaver!" scene...best joke in the movie. Full body condoms were right up there.
Leslie Nielsen used to be a leading man back in the '50s, an incredible turn as one of the greatest comedic actors ever.
He also played a lot of bad guys too. Airplane! was where he really entered the comedy realm.
He starred in the films Forbidden Planet and Hot Summer Night in the 1950s.
In an interview about his career revival as a "deadpan comedic" actor he once said something along the lines of, "I've been delivering very silly dialogue with a straight face for decades. The only difference now is that it's very silly _on purpose."_
@@walfiend2he was a great villain in his segment of Creepshow
Police Squad was the name of a tv series starring Leslie Neilsen, and several of the same characters as well played by different actors. It was just as funny, but it was cancelled after only 6 episodes. And it's very funny.
"Oh, my poor Nordberg! He was such a good man, Frank. He never wanted to hurt anyone. Who would do such a thing?"
I love, in retrospect, how poorly that line aged.
And the woman playing his wife recently played one of the jurors in The People vs OJ Simpson.
@@victornewmanforever Seriously? Irony just keeps coming, eh? Lmfao.
@@mattstanford9673nordberg is a character ,line aged perfectly
Haven't you watched Family Guy? OJ is innocent.
RIP, Rock Star Tina Turner, 1939-2023.
Mary has to see GOLDENEYE now. Tina Turner sang the theme song.
She was my first roadie gig when I was about 14…..a very long time ago.

Women "logic" in 2023:
A man touched a woman = "sexual harassment" 🤡🤣
"Nice beaver" ... "Thanks. I just had it stuffed"
“Cuban?”
“No, Dutch/Irish. My father was from Wales.”
I don’t understand why you keep asking questions about why something doesn’t make sense, or it’s not realistic for Frank to do something. It’s a comedy’ it’s not supposed to make sense. He flips and jumps and makes himself look silly for, laughs, not because it’s standard police protocol.
Our villain Ricardo Montalbán played Khan in the second Shatner/Nimoy Star Trek film from the 80’s and Mr. Roarke on the 80’s tv show Fantasy Island
I think you mean KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
He played a Japanese man in an episode of _Hawaii 5-0_ and a Frenchman in a Wonder Woman TV movie made before the Lynda Carter series.
Hey Mary, if you enjoyed the film then you may like the tv series "Police Squad" it was unfairly cancelled after 6 episodes. Which is why the film "The Naked Gun" was made. So funny!
You need to learn to just enjoy a slap stick comedy. They're just random nonsense that is ment for nothing but laughs...logic is nonexistent in these films.
Yeah I don't think she gets it.
This is a comedy crowning achievement.
If you ask me the tv series Police Squad! is even better.
Also to answer your question, the reason why Priscilla Presley was "half naked" in his apartment was because she was "half dressed".
The kookaburra is actually used as a stock sound effect in Hollywood for jungle settings, especially films set in Africa. A lot of people likely think the call comes from a monkey instead of a bird, making it a very popular sound effect. It’s been used so often for jungle settings that many people now associate the kookaburra call with Africa instead of Australia.
Similarly, if you ever hear a bald eagle screech in movies, it’s likely the call of the red-tailed hawk instead of the bald eagle’s softer chirp.
Mary, if you haven't seen Field of Dreams, that's a movie with baseball in it that you definitely don't need to be a fan of baseball/sports to enjoy.
It's much more about family and following your heart; a LOT of people watch it for Father's Day, because of this.
Second vote on this one. Field of Dreams is a beautiful movie. (Grab the tissues!)
I came here to look to see if anyone recommended Field of Dreams
I third that notion
"I've heard of OJ simpson...."
Oh God I'm old....😢
Yeah, I watched the trial… live. I feel pretty old.
Leslie Nielsen was definitely one of kind from Airplane 1 and 2 to all the Naked Gun movies and a couple more a true comedian at it's finest 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Awesome reaction Mary ❤
He wasn't in Airplane 2 though. Only the first one.
Well he should've of been that would've made it even more funnier imo
Funny, before Airplane he was a dramatic actor. He just had the ability to play it so straight, regardless of how stupid the situation was. Amazing talent
I suspect Leslie wasn't in Airplane 2 because Zucker/Abrams/Zucker had nothing to do with Airplane 2.
@@SwordmasterKaneLeslie Nielsen was in Airplane 2, sort of. He was in a flashback of a scene taken Airplane 1 during the court scene.
The titty buildings are real. It's the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
It is meant to be ridicules and over the top... I don't understand why you did not click onto that. I hope if you watch part 2 that you will chill a bit and run with it. 21:54 the dummy was obviously a joke.. how did you not get that.
Thank you for your comment...you just saved me from wasting almost 30 minutes of my life 😃👍🏻
@@charlesedward5047 For the record lovely beaver was also cut out 😬
19:19 all real announcers and Joyce brothers lol
And this movie is why there were so many Reggie Jackson memes after the Queen died.
Ricardo Motalban finding the finger in his hotdog is one of the funniest moments in cinema history. He played it so seriously!
That finger came from the guy who died in the meat plant.
No one ever comments on the sign at the meat plant: "Employees must wash hands BEFORE using restroom."
Leslie Nielsen was only 19 years older than Priscilla Presley, so he may have just been old enough to be her father, but definitely not her grandfather.
@James Doe What are you? Some kind of mutt?
They do play baseball in Australia, they played in the World Baseball classic, this past spring, they did better than ppl expected
I love how you are paying homage to Alicia Silverstone in Clueless with your outfit. It's such an iconic outfit and movie and i have always loved it also
Try not to make an impractical movie so practical. Just laugh lol
If you like the Naked Gun films, you'll LOVE Airplane, which also features Leslie Nielson. Also another movie that featured Leslie Nielson to consider...SURF NINJAS!
This is the first time I’ve heard Mary laugh like that. 😂
at 7:35? Same.🤣
This movie is old, but it still kills me. Not as much as OJ killed those two people, but still kills me pretty good.
I just cannot believe that you did not include one of the funniest scenes in film history - "nice beaver"!
Hi Mary!🙂The 80s started to see more sports figures showing up in films. This is great comedy where you can just sit back and relax without having to think to much. Nice reactions to your first Naked Gun film, Mary!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Bruce Jenner, who goes by Kate Jenner today, was a prominent actor in the late 1970s. He appeared in Battle of the Network Stars and Xanadu.
Driving instructor: Sir John Houseman.
America’s favorite old fart.
Frank Drebin isn't stupid, he's just oblivious. If he was stupid then he wouldn't care about anything he does, when it is clearly evident that he does.
So glad you liked it. One of my go-to comedies. Seen it a dozen times.
The Naked Gun movies are based on a cancelled TV show called Police Squad in 1982 and Leslie Neilsen was the star of the show but was cancelled after a few episodes were aired but that didn’t stop Leslie from acting in parody movies. Unfortunately Leslie Neilsen passed away in 2010 but we’ll always remember him
It was back when slapstick comedy was actually funny
Mary, I love you but you’ve got to watch these Naked Gun films as an experience and just go with the humor, not treat it as a linear film with substantial plot developments or whatever. ;)
15:05 - No she meant a nightcap as in coming up to her place, which is the definition of the word. He meant a literal cap that one would wear on their head. That was the joke.
And to think James Cameron did not cast OJ as the Terminator because he didn't think audiences would buy him as a implacable killing machine.
It's both hilarious and annoying when reactors try to bring reason into a movie like this. But "giant tits in the form of buildings" was quite the quote lol
Fun Fact: Queen Elizabeth II and Reggie Jackson (the baseball player at 21:10) actually met in real life. In 1991, as part of the her visit to the U.S., the Queen attended a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland Athletics. Before the game, all of the players shook hands with the Queen in the Dugout, including Reggie Jackson, who was playing for Oakland at the time.
This was you laughing a little too hard?? Hmm 🤔 Ok then👌😆
15:05 - Well Frank thought it was an actual cap, but she actually wanted him to come up to her place. That was the joke. Frank takes everything literally
Mary, to get perspective of Leslie Nielsen's early start, I'd recommend the very serious Sci-Fi movie (made for movies, not a TV show) called Forbidden Planet. It has a storyline and creative arc that holds up very well even today, and though the movie was made in 1956, they used state of the art special effects for its time. In other words, not cheesy. Then fast forward to today and the humor you see in him will be better understood. :)
Do Wayne's World 2! I rewatched your reaction to part 1 the other day. You were laughing all the way through and part 2 is just as funny.
"Hey! It's Enrico Pallazzo!" 😂😂😂
Actually, Australia has maintained a pretty good presence in international baseball in both the Olympics and the World Baseball Classic, and there have been some Aussies who have played in Major League Baseball.
And this is my favorite movie in the Naked Gun series, but all three are hilarious and totally worth watching.
oh Leslie... we all miss you so much!!! ❤
He was one of the funniest comedians but not many people know that in the first half of his career he performed in many serious roles, from drama to sci-fi and even horror movies. I couldn't believe it when I saw him for the first time in the first Creepshow movie!
Believe it or not, this cast includes two prior Oscar winners. George Kennedy ( Frank's partner ) won for "Cool Hand Luke and John Houseman - the driving instructor - for "The Paper Chase".
For a sports movie that you would enjoy, try:
"Major League" (1989) Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen
"A League of their Own" (1992) Tom Hanks. Based on real events
"Necessary Roughness" (1991) Scott Bakula
"Cool Running" (1993) John Candy
"The Mighty Ducks" (1992) Emilio Estavez
"Caddyshack" (1980) all star ensemble cast
Who are you? And how did you get in here?
I'm a locksmith. And, I'm a locksmith.
13:40 No man would question why an attractive lady would be making him food half naked
Priscilla Presley separated from Elvis in February 1972 and they divorced in October of 1973. She has been the EX wife for 50 years this year. If it weren't for her continuing to ride her dead EX-husband's coattails, using his name, nobody would know her today.
Pricilla was 43. Leslie was 62 not quite old enough to be her grandfather .
Things are ridiculous and obvious because they are playing of known tropes in TV shows and movies and in many cases ridiculous for comedy value. It comes across as if you are taking things too literally. In these films you shouldn't do that and you will enjoy them more.
Loves the reactions to the Rocky and Creed movies, so I thought I've give this reaction a shot since NG is one of my favorite comedies...but reading the comments it appears that a lot of things in the movie were not understood...guess I'll skip this one.
It’s so crazy watching movies from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s talk about “The Queen”, because it’s been the same one for so long. Yet, she is no longer with us. 😢
RIP Charlotte Zucker, George Kennedy, Leslie Nielsen, Nancy Marchand, Ricardo Montalbán, and Tiny Ron Taylor.
Baseball movies you should check out: Major League, A League of Thier Own, The Sandlot and The Benchwarmers. All comedies or dramadies. And Field of Dreams another great film. Love your reaction Airplane is a funnier movie I think. Leslie Neilson was a serious drama actor before he did the first Airplane movie.
Moneyball
*- Nice beaver!*
😂
Silly question Mary but you do know this is a comedy? 😊
It should be remembered, that long before OJ got his reputation, because of the trial, he was a fairly well liked American football player. Priscilla Presley was an actress for the show Dallas. In fact, she was in the infamous season, where the entire season's timeline was erased because it was just a dream.
Priscilla's role in Dallas was limited
OJ wasn't fairly well liked. He was loved. He was so loved that he was originally supposed to be the Terminator in the original movie but the idea was dropped because no one would ever believe that he could be a murder.
@@garyhall2770 ?
Mary saying Leslie Nielsen could be Priscilla Presley's granddad, not realising how old Priscilla Presley actually is in this film. Priscilla just looks fantastic for her age.
❤❤❤ I'm happy you're here. POLICE SQUAD was a short run tv series. Not on purpose. The movies, on the other hand, were quite successful. Yes, OJ had a run at acting and was fine. Priscilla and Elvis started seeing each other when she was 14, and he was in his mid-20s. Oooo? Oh, well. "Nice beaver" makes my SOUTH PARK self smile every time. Stupid jokes are an inherited trait in my family. Baseball was America's top sport for decades. There were baseball activities reported during the Civil War. Probably was a baseball predecessor. "See Ken burns Baseball series for details" Baseball movies have been around since the dawn of the twentieth century. Comedy, love story, musical, biography, fantasy, dozens of movies. Your throngs will inform you of what's what. Mostly not this stupid. Mostly. Leslie has been involved with other spoofs as well. DRACULA, SPY HARD, "theme by weird al," MR MAGOO. No, the Mr. Magoo is more a biography. Anyway, please watch more. Luv ya
At the beginning... I know OJ Simpson... Precilla Presley...... and when they're on screen... That Man... and That Woman... Lol... Clearly doesn't know of them as well as she claims... 🤨😆
Saw this in the theater, Leslie Neilsen’s a crackup
I don't think anything can ever top Top Secret! for silly visual gags, but Naked Gun is pretty close.
The Police Squad referred to in the title was a TV series that only lasted 6 episodes. The series also starred Leslie Neilsen. The movie actually repeats a number of jokes from the series.
Fun Fact: His boss is Tony Soprano's mom... Nancy Marchand.
Watch the end credits very closely, as the jokes keep coming.
Yes in all three of the Naked Gun movies, as well as both Airplane! films.
Leslie Nielsen was 19 years older than Priscilla Presley, (she was 43 years old when this movie came out). So there's _some_ age difference between them, but not by a huge amount. Presley was remarkably beautiful, even in her 40s, and Leslie Nielsen always looked ten years older than he actually was, but they did share a good on screen chemistry and she helped to balance the movie so casting her was a great decision.
If you want to watch good Baseball game movies, for comedy I suggest Angels in the Outfield, Major League, or Bull Durham , and for drama/love story, I suggest For the Love of the Game or A League of their Own, Money Ball, or 42.
Спасибо за Naked Gun!
Посмотри пожалуйста фильм Borat 2006!

I believe that the song was done by Herman’s Hermits. They also did a song called “I’m Henry the Eighth.” It’s about a man who married a widow who had had 7 husbands, all of them named Henry.
"The everywhere I go, something reminds me of her" buildings are the Diablo Canyon Power Planet, a nuclear power plant near the coast in central California. When I was young, our family used to drive past it whenever we took road trips up the coast and I always used to snicker at it.
Baseball Movies:
"Major League" (1989) starring Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes Tom Berenger with older players.
OR
Original "Bad News Bears" (1976) starring Walter Matthau and Tatum O'Neal with younger players.
Don't drink while watching this movie. Don't drink _anything._ Don't even take a sip. The jokes come out of _nowhere._
I think you took this film far too seriously, though. You don't ask "Why?" in one of these Leslie Nielsen comedies, because the answer is always "BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY!"
Never saw a Zucker movie? Prepare for a whole bunch of hilarious Zucker - Abrahams - Zucker movies.
Oh, and what is this obsession with ageism all about? A hidden granddad fetish (Freud)? He must have had a child at a VERY early age, I guess. Gurrrrrl. Try to stay at least a bit politically correct.
Just joking. It's kinda funny. 😀
Leslie Nielsen looks like he has more fun in the world than any of us😂 such a big kid😂 with silver hair😂
One of my absolute favorites. The sequels taper off as they go, but still worth the watch.
That's true but like you said they're still worth a watch. Most of his movies are worth a watch. Especially Mr. Magoo
I like the third one as much as the first
I cant believe you called Frank Drebin and Ed insensitive the way they spoke to Mrs Nordberg. Its a frigging comedy! their insensitivity is the reason its funny?? THATS THE JOKE! jeesh, i cant handle generation Z, they take everything literally..
Oh! You like puns and the kind of humour of the Naked Gun movies?... Then YOU MUST watch/react to the movie *_Airplane!_*_ (1980)_ You are going to pull a muscle from laughing!
