This series has 3 movies. It was preceded by 2 other Zucker/Abrahams movies: Airplaine! and Top Secret! All 5 movies are considered classic and are must-see. After these, Jim Abrahams did 2 Top Gun parodies called Hot Shots! and Hot Shots Part Deux (both with Charlie Sheen), which veered in a more silly direction, but are really good... That is everything you need to know about the great Zucker/Abrahams movies...

The kookaburra is actually used as a stock sound effect in Hollywood for jungle settings, especially films set in Africa. A lot of people likely think the call comes from a monkey instead of a bird, making it a very popular sound effect. It’s been used so often for jungle settings that many people now associate the kookaburra call with Africa instead of Australia.
Similarly, if you ever hear a bald eagle screech in movies, it’s likely the call of the red-tailed hawk instead of the bald eagle’s softer chirp.

The Naked Gun movies are based on a cancelled TV show called Police Squad in 1982 and Leslie Neilsen was the star of the show but was cancelled after a few episodes were aired but that didn’t stop Leslie from acting in parody movies. Unfortunately Leslie Neilsen passed away in 2010 but we’ll always remember him

Fun Fact: Queen Elizabeth II and Reggie Jackson (the baseball player at 21:10) actually met in real life. In 1991, as part of the her visit to the U.S., the Queen attended a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland Athletics. Before the game, all of the players shook hands with the Queen in the Dugout, including Reggie Jackson, who was playing for Oakland at the time.

Mary, to get perspective of Leslie Nielsen's early start, I'd recommend the very serious Sci-Fi movie (made for movies, not a TV show) called Forbidden Planet. It has a storyline and creative arc that holds up very well even today, and though the movie was made in 1956, they used state of the art special effects for its time. In other words, not cheesy. Then fast forward to today and the humor you see in him will be better understood. :)

It should be remembered, that long before OJ got his reputation, because of the trial, he was a fairly well liked American football player. Priscilla Presley was an actress for the show Dallas. ❤❤❤ I'm happy you're here. POLICE SQUAD was a short run tv series. Not on purpose. The movies, on the other hand, were quite successful. Yes, OJ had a run at acting and was fine. Priscilla and Elvis started seeing each other when she was 14, and he was in his mid-20s. Oooo? Oh, well. "Nice beaver" makes my SOUTH PARK self smile every time. Stupid jokes are an inherited trait in my family. Baseball was America's top sport for decades. There were baseball activities reported during the Civil War. Probably was a baseball predecessor. "See Ken burns Baseball series for details" Baseball movies have been around since the dawn of the twentieth century. Comedy, love story, musical, biography, fantasy, dozens of movies. Your throngs will inform you of what's what. Mostly not this stupid. Mostly. Leslie has been involved with other spoofs as well. DRACULA, SPY HARD, "theme by weird al," MR MAGOO. No, the Mr. Magoo is more a biography. Anyway, please watch more. Luv ya

Leslie Nielsen was 19 years older than Priscilla Presley, (she was 43 years old when this movie came out). So there's _some_ age difference between them, but not by a huge amount. Presley was remarkably beautiful, even in her 40s, and Leslie Nielsen always looked ten years older than he actually was, but they did share a good on screen chemistry and she helped to balance the movie so casting her was a great decision.
