This music is not about hits, it's about every lil detail behind each instrumental, the beautiful world they create in each song, it's complex, it's misterious, dark, epic, gothic, ballady at times, classic, orchestral, it mixes heavy rock, metal, industrial influences. Lyrics speak way waaay more than what they appear at first time, it's good deep heart felt sounds coming out of the speakers.
@@jacksmith-vs4ct Yeah, I mean I say it vs Fallen that all songs sounded like possible singles, but that was on purpose by the label, they made them do like 50 songs, picked the best 15, made them work 3 to 4 versions on each song out of those 15, then recorded 14 of them twice once for official demo another for the expensive studio, plus adding a professional radio drummer and bassist to fill in the lack of bandmates at the time Fallen was being recorded, at the end Fallen ended up being a polished product of very good music but definitely marketed them wrongly just for the sake of sales, hence why they used rap like electronic beats used in Numetal when they weren't really numetal, they were forced to add a male voice to Bring me to Life to imitate Linkin Park's approach, so if you look at it on the bigger picture, people prefer Fallen bc is a very well sold album from start to finish every song is a banger that could've had music video and fantastic radio play.
@@jacksmith-vs4ct Whereas with The Open Door is not like that with the hold record, for sure ton of songs work as singles... CMWYSober, Lithium, Sweet Sacrifice work perfectly as singles, even other songs like All that I'm Living For or Weight of the world could've made it as great singles but the other half of the record is ...more dark and epic, more deeper feelings unto the songs, some ominuous notes, it has it's times of spare and be weird or quiet in songs, and for this creativity part it would've been a bit more harder to use them as singles in terms of the mainstream taste. I really love all of their songs don't get me wrong, just that majority of people tend to prefer things easier to digest and Fallen songs are that at times, Ben Moody was good at using pedals and riff variation to make u feel u were listening to other songs when he played... but his chord progressions were repetitive, more than half of the Fallen album is written in Em C and D chords.
@@jacksmith-vs4ct Something that changed for the better once he left is that Amy and Terry did not hold back into experimenting with music, whereas Ben wanted to do safe stuff to keep being big on hits. Once he left the only ones wanting to keep making more safe stuff were the label, but Amy fought hard and still released a 2011 album even with conditions, she had a whole record rejected, the anger and frustration turned into songs like Sick, New way to Bleed, Oceans, What u Want, and she rejoined with Troy and Will and made a solid 3rd record that is heavier and less darker but Amy and the rest of the band had their reason to be mad at them. Sorry for all this long comments but yeah today is my day off and wanted to express my thoughts haha.
I had to listen to all of it probably three or four times before I realized how good it is. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I guess I'll go with 'Your Star'. It's got enough heavy on it, good piano work, great vocals (of course), good guitar work, and it's well put together.
Yes! I love this album so much and I’m in love with every track. My favorite song off this album is Your Star and I’m glad you liked it! Like You is also an amazing song that’s about her late sister I think. 🚪 ☁️ 9️⃣
Nice reaction man! This album is really up there on my favorites from them. It really shows their color pallette of sounds. Really looking forward to you listening to their self-titled album!
All the songs you picked out are also my favorite tracks on the album. I'd probably say Your Star is my favorite but Like You is a great choice as well. If you're going chronologically, the self-titled Evanescence album would be next. However, you may want a detour to check out their Origin album that came out in 2000 before Fallen. Some people consider it a demo album. It's before they put out an album on a big label and it has earlier versions of a few songs that later appeared on Fallen, but it's my favorite Evanescence album.
Ok you promised more after 50 likes ;) If you want heavy their latest “The Bitter Truth” will satisfy but 1st you have to go in order and do the 2011 self-titled “Evanescence” (deluxe version) album which has extra songs on it. We fans will eagerly wait :)
Loved when you were moving your head backwards in the long high notes haha. For me this album is the best one. My favs are your Star, the only one and cloud nine
you know the album is good when you do the "ãahhh" or "okayy" or when you snap your fingers and enjoy the vibe hahaha! it's amazing album tho! Nice job again man😎 ☁️
Love your reaction! Like You is definitely one of the best song, this album is more like art so that’s why The Open Door is Ev fans favorite album, third album( self titled album)have more Fallen vibe, hope you check it out too🥺🥺
1. Good Enough 2. Lithium 3. Call Me When You're Sober 4. Sweet Sacrifice 5. Lacrymosa 6. Cloud Nine 7. The Only One 8. Like You 9. Your Star 10. All That I Am Living For 11. Snow White Queen 12. Weight Of The World 13. Lose Control
About time!!!! I already watched the whole video and yeah it's not about the hits but the story of each song. (I might be biased) but I love this album alot. I also still prefer Fallen but it isn't by far. It's also super hard to chose a favorite song but I think I have to go with either "Your Star" or "Like You". Both songs are amazing and hauntingly beautiful. Plus I relate with "Like You" because I also had a sister that passed so maybe that's why I love that song and "Hello" alot. Also Amy has so so many amazing solo songs. But like how someone else said "Speak To Me" is probably her best. The music video hits super hard and she looks absolutely beautiful (like she always does). But I also really like "With Or Without You" and "Love Exists". All 3 of them is 10/10 for me. Anyways, sorry for the long ass comment. It just has been a long time coming and I have been patiently waiting for this and I will be patiently waiting for the next Ev album. You should definitely do the self titled album next since it's the next album after this one. There are some bangers in that one. Ok I'm done. Peace. ✌️
Yes! Go in order dawg and get started with their self titled album "Evanescence. Make sure you get more songs by listening to the deluxe edition. I'll be waiting. You'll love it I promise! Love . Amy Lee! She's my favorite all time leading female rock artist!!
I didn’t really see anyone answer your question regarding Amy Lee’s solo stuff - she does have solo stuff, but it’s mostly her children’s album, movie soundtracks/scores and covers of other artists. Let me say this, though - a lot of the parts that didn’t do it for you or songs that you were unsure of - watch a live version of them, especially with the lineup they currently have. Weight of the World is a whole other performance with Will on drums, and her vocals just hit so much better when she does them live - Your Star is always a crowd pleaser and just has so much more power in front of an audience. Seriously - any live performance will do, lol. I really enjoyed this reaction and hope to see more of Ev’s albums from you! 🖤

I think you'll prefer self titled album over this, its a more well rounded metal album and has incredible production
nah.. Evanescence 2011 was more rock industrial..
The Open door is way more symphony metal...
