It's a masterpiece that shows a ton of growth from Fallen. Also, Terry Balsamo just has better guitar riffs than Ben Moody. Someone had to say it.

Its crazy to me some people consider that the band died when Ben left, because Fallen, The Open Door, EV3, TBT are all *almost* equally amazing and The Open Door imo is even better than Fallen.
Yeah Fallen is a musically simple, kinda monochromatic album. The Open Door is Amy's brainchild, and it's an amazing album, far beyond Fallen in every single aspect. Terry is also a far better guitarist and riff writer than Ben. Ben is a mediocre and one-note guitarist who has no concept of dynamics or any versatility. It's hilarious to me how some people are so attached to him and think he's a genius (😂) just cause Fallen was a huge commercial album. Also, after Fallen, Amy and EV kept evolving and exploring; all their work after Fallen is better and great.
“Like You” is my absolute favorite. It’s her honoring her younger sister who died when Amy was 6 years old. Powerful and haunting and as you mentioned in your reaction the most HEAVY song of the album. 🥰😍 love, love, love it. Thank you amazing reaction.

this one's about a crazy stalker fan who followed her til her hotel room and kept there trying to get in and he was saying some stuff like that in the song
Plus at the time she wrote this she used the nickname "snow white" at the evanescence forum to talk to the fans. thats where the name of the song came from

Great reactions! The Open Door is by far the best Evanescence album in my opinion. You should also check out their new album The Bitter Truth (2021). It is my second favorite album :)

OMG YES! You probably don't even know but this week is this album 15th anniversary, it came out between today and October 3rd depending on the country, this is such a cool coincidence you decided to react to this full album 15 years later. I personally love this album due to it's creativity, it has times of spare and relaxation in verses, playing with orchestra, synths programming as it has times of ethereal too (Lose Control), moments of deep sadness(Like You) and deep happyness (Good Enough), it has it's sassyness on Cloud 9 and Call Me When U'R Sober, it's headbanging good on Sweet Sacrifice, WOTWorld, ATILFor, or what about the epicness and darkness on Your Star, Lacrymosa, Snow White Quee.... This and their new album from 2021 are my most favorite thing they have ever released due to the variety of sound in the whole record. I can't wait for you to react to their selftitled 2011 album.... and their new record The Bitter Truth

It came out 10/3/06. I bought it the day it came out and it's my dad's birthday, so easy to remember, for me.
This album is so underappretiated
OMG, I can't believe it. I first saw your reactions to Mariah's discography and now you're doing Evanescence! My Holy Trinity of Music is Mariah, Madonna and Evanescence lol.
Snow White Queen is about her relation with fans and the media, which demanded of her something she wasnt (her nick name at the band online forum with the fans were Snow White).
Lacrymosa has a sample of Mozart's Requiem.
Like You is about her sister who died when they were children ("Hello" from Fallen is about her too). Recently, Amy lost another brother for epilepsy, and she wrote "Far from heaven" for the new album).
The Open Door was pretty much about Evanescence trying to delivery a New album without Ben Moody (who left the band after a big fight), so was about Amy proving she could do it without him.
I really hope you listen to "Evanescence" (2011), "Synthesis" (2017) and "The Bitter Truth" (2021). They took so long to release New albums after The Open Door. Its was a very hard relationship with their label. Now they became independent artists and I think they're doing great. The Bitter Truth became my favorite Evanescence's album.

I thought Snow White Queen was about a stalker fan that wrote her creepy letters and called her 'Snow White Queen' and it got to the point where she didn't even feel comfortable changing clothes in her own room and had to change in the dark, in fear he was watching her and she had like a nightmare about him breaking in.
Also, you still have their self-titled album “Evanescence (2011)”, the heavy synth orchestra album “Synthesis (2017)”, and the most amazing album of the pandemic “The Bitter Truth (2021)”. There’s so much to explore. 😍

Great reaction🙂the song Lacrymosa was originally written for the film's soundtrack. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but was not included due to disney considering its sound to be too dark.

I think "snow white queen" was about her stalkers and all the crazy things they say to her. Not 100% sure but I remember hearing that's what it was about.

This album and Fallen are both fantastic. If you want some more Evanescence, they released a new album back in March of this year called The Bitter Truth. It's pretty solid.

First of all, thanks for doing this entire album. Secondly, there isn't any Evanescence album that is less than great. But make no mistake, THE OPEN DOOR is Evanescence's magnum opus that really should be listened to with headphones to fully appreciate. Even with Ben Moody absent, this album shows a mature growth in Amy's songwriting and a depth to her vocal ability that's much better than most songs on FALLEN. 👏 Check out more of this band's later work please. 😉

The Open Door is a great album because mediocre guitarist and controlling commercial tyrant Ben Moody left and wasn't a part of it. TOD was Amy's brainchild, Amy and Terry co-composed the album, and it's probably their best work, followed by 2021's The Bitter Truth.

I love evanescence because they are unique and creative with their music. She can sing like she's singing opera but still rock without going into a screaming voice (I have nothing against screaming in rock) but she pulls it off without doing it.

Lacrymosa is originally written by Mozart - check out the Requiem/ Lacrymosa by Mozart. Amy sampled Mozart’s original composition and added her own words.
