Nothing makes me happier than reading these comments and seeing tons of new Type O Negative fans discovering this incredible band for the first time. These guys were the real deal and I hope they bring you joy for the months and years and decades to come.
I just discovered Typo O the past couple of weeks! I have always known the name of them but never really listened to them at all until recently. And its amazing!
My dad was an OG fan (still has his cassettes stored in the basement!) I remember early on he would play them on Halloween night as trick or treaters came to the door. It was long after Peter steeles passing that I discovered what songs those were and started getting into the drab four same as him. Honestly a lot of my music taste is credit to him. I was born in 99 and raised on Van Halen, Steve vai, TON, and plenty of other artists before my time. Gave me a great appreciation for analog music and a strong dislike for quantinization, auto tuning, dubstep, and pretty much any band that tries to call themselves a rock band after 2010. My most recent artist is probably good charlotte or Wolfgang Van Halen’s mammoth album.
So hard to believe that it's almost 14 years since Peter abandoned this earthly realm; I can only hope he found peace and a bunch of cats wherever he went. RIP, darlin', you are much missed, as is the band, and I can only imagine the music you still had left in you that will go forever unheard...
Right! It is still so surreal. The band didn't just sing songs, they sung my soul. I still get gooseflesh when I hear most of their music. They had a great dynamic and knew just what they set out to do and killed it. They made so many Goth girls swoon and ushered in a heaver type of Goth music that was still just as sexy and emotional. Peter is so missed.

Just to nitpick - this was not one of their songs, it's a cover of a song Neil Young did with Crazy Horse in the late 1960's. There've been a few famous covers, but Neil's original is very much worth hearing if you only know this version. Not to dismiss your love for TON's cover, but Young's composition was really remarkable for the time imho... It reminds me of Nirvana and QOTSA, material that wouldn't come until many decades later...
Type O crushes Neil Young's version. And I am a CrazyHorse kind of guy (Needle and the Damage Done!!!!). This is just one of those covers that does it. I agree with WW -- the breakdown at the end just satisfies incredibly.
Man I did that "chain-as-guitar-strap" thing once. And it hurt like a sonofabitch! I tried adding a piece of padding from one of my mom's discarded purses... and then someone was like "Yo, is that from your mom's purse?" So I got depressed and listened to Type O and set the whole damn guitar on fire.
I was thinking about my best friend of 26 years who died 2 years ago. I went to our 25th high school reunion and had to tell a lot of people who didn't she'd died. It was rough. So I'm all in my feels, thinking about her and better, younger times. Then I read this comment and it made me actually burst out laughing. Thank you!
I've never met a man as perfect as Peter Steele. I know if he was ever to hear that, he would say I haven't met any men at all, but still! The Elvis of every metal chick!
Played them on Howard Stern today, so I had to check some vids out. Friggin awesome. I'm a 60 year old guy heading over to Amazon to buy this album NOW
Great album, through and through. Rarely have the album title, the inlay artwork and the sound matched each other so perfectly. Really did a thing for me.
October Rust is just so fucking underrated and under appreciated because it’s sadly unknown by people that would appreciate it. But hopefully that will change.
One of the best live bands for sure. Saw them years ago, and Peter scared me. Tall man, handsome, intimidating and drank red wine straight from the bottle. I've been in love with him ever since ❤️🤘
Type O Negative are an incredible Rock band from Brooklyn NewYork ! Their talent speaks for itself !Peter Steeles amazing vocals and bass are spine tingling to say the least ! Guitarist Kenny Hickey is outstanding !Josh Silver's keyboards are unsurpassed and Johnny Kelly's percussion skills are unmatched ! All I can say is I cant get enough of them ! I'm Totally Hooked on TYPE O ! RIP PETER STEELE !
I love that there's an actual sweeter side to their sound too. They can actually get a little Bubble Gum... like this great cover. Or their cover of "Summer Breeze." Some how it works. They really do it well. I also think they have a sense of humor with all the "scary stuff". I don't think they're serious about it at all. C'mon "Black no.1" is great satire.
Every time I hear Pete's voice my head is flooded with the memories of being 17 ('96....yes, I'm old....🙄) in a tiny bar seeing Type O live for the first time on All Hallows Eve....💚💚
This song is from the " October Rust " album; a truly remarkable, complex, beautiful album. Love it. This was released in 96 at a time of alt. rock onslaught, and it has endured that onslaught. Miss Peter Steele as frontman.
Damn, this band is awesome... I have listened to metal music for a long time, and I have known type O Negative and was impressed by Peter's voice, but never really took the time to focus on them.... Now it's 2023, and I feel like going back through their entire discography... The band is awesome and the music is awesome...
So I found out about this band last week. And now I'm I love with a tall, long haired dead man. (It's incredible how Peter had a ver sexual thing. I just can't explain)
He's not even my "type" at first glance but oh man, he has such a vibe about him that draws you in. A very magnetic pull. I've enjoyed learning about him.
I was listening to Type O at work today. Was listening to Love You to Death, and all of a sudden my speaker died. Even it can't handle the tragic loss of Peter Steele. 😪😪
I love this live. I love Josh Silver at 1:56 how he whips his hair around! He is so great on the Keyboards! The Drummer Johnny Kelly always looks so cool and smiling, I just love his way and he is a fantastic drummer. And the Guitarist Kenny Hickey is so great with that guitar and his moves on stage!. These guys can never be replaced. Never have heard anyone like them! And I know they can never be replaced. 10 years now. Can't believe it's been that long. They are still rockin' loud and hard in my house. Love to all of you TON fans!!! Thanks you youtube I can still watch and listen to them!!!
Type of negative beats are always dark rolling thunder of molasses thickening up your drive for dark gothic release. So sorry that the lead singer is gone. sad. but left a legacy of music that's phenomenal!
Greg Cobb this world is so very lesser. We unfortuantely have people like the kardashians and kanye west and wiz khalifa... And no Peter Steele... No Lemmy... No cliff Burton... no dimebag... Such a sad world we live in now of days.
Speaking of molasses. Darkness never sounded so sweet "pun intended". But as far as the guitar player I think you ment Peter Steele and he was a bass guitarist. Not a lead guitarist.
I remember Pete saying in concert that Neil called him up and told him this was the worst version of his song he had ever heard. Then he said something to the effect of, "It didn't bother me, who gives a fuck what he thinks anyways - right?" Cue the crowd going nuts. Still miss him dearly.
Pete Steele, I wish you were still with us brother. Autumn is not the same without you , Halloween is but now a shadow. You did not realize how much of an impact you were on ghouls like us. We miss you.
peter steele will always be a phucking legend type o's keyboardist gives so much depth/texture/atmosphere/life into the bands tracks. dudes a musical wizard & is shamefully underrated
best cover EVER. Type O Negative had such a unique sound.. something unheard of anymore almost ;) as soon as you heard one of their songs start, you knew who it was... lol.
I know this is a cover song, but they really made something new and better of it. That guitar riff has the most addictive hook that I’ve ever heard. (Talking about the part right after “Chase the moonlight”) simply perfect.
Peter Steele is sorely missed. People who have never had the pleasure of hearing this band yet are really missing something that is very special. Talented musicians and one of the most amazing voices of our generation. I'm trying to get these younger friends and aquatences to get into them. Some people are into it and some are not. Hey you can't please everyone but if I can get at least 2 or 3 people who are waiting to borrow my hundreds or thousands of hours of music including type o negative then I've done something good as an old metalhead who is not going to die. I'm just going to keep rocking away. These guys are the only band in my phone except for 1 ministry song. Had to have a good old ministry song in the mix. Anyone else out there showing the younger generation about the best music ever made in history. I can't stand a lot of newer stuff and I did it a fair chance I have a 20 year old daughter. I have her friends into maiden and megadeth it drives my daughter a little bit crazy when I am opening up the cassette and vinyl and cd collection and letting them pick what they want to hear. I believe music is made to be passed down to the next generation or else another part of our history can be lost. I have been playing some stuff for people who are also almost 1.5 to 2 times my age as well. It's cool when they get their own records out for me to hear. Old 50's and 40's stuff. I appreciate it all. So I can expand my mind and tastes. I had a 82 years old man getting into old white zombie and I got to hear stuff from him I never ever heard of or would ever had heard. See music is timeless and peter Steele is missed but I believe that he will be around forever cuz a person like him is a 1 in a generation person and that voice. Wow. Rarely do we have any other singers who are able to sing like him. Maybe Morrison or ian Ashbury ( if I misspelled it don't worry I'm bit crispy around the edges so if u want to correct me do it by yourself cuz I have an excuse). And I'm sure that true music fans are going to know who I am talking about. RIP. Peter Steele your talents and personality are sorely missed by many of us. But we have youtube and it can be a little bit of a blessing when it's not a pain in the ass.
Damn I LOVE THIS SONG..my brother was a metal head and speed metal drummer in a band in Jersey. I was blown away by this the first time I heard it years ago. Its unreal. Countless times driving around with this blasting in my car over the years. Ten out of Ten for sure
This version of Cinnamon girl is wild I like the Way Type O Negative and Peter Steele Master this song this is kick ass pure genius long live Peter Steele long live the Green Man 🔥🤘😖🤘🔥
Saw them in Cleveland OH in like 95. Great show. I'll never forget at the end Peter walked up to the mic in the thickest NY City accent you ever heard and says, "We're Type O Negative from New Yaawk. Wedder you loved us or wedder you hated us, it duddin really matter cuz ya already paid us." I been using that line in his accent every chance I get for 30 years now😂😢

Peter can sing about how to clean toilets an nobody would give a damn we would listen to it just because his voice all those guys together unreal... in 1996 at house of blues with this album he had black skinny trees with snowflakes falling from the ceiling...It was just down right awesome
I have been listen to the song for a long time. It never gets old. I can play it 4 or 5 times and still go for 6 7 and 8. I don't care who wrote it. Typ O just plays at the best.
I think this video has footage of their performance in '94 or '95 at DYNAMO open air festival. It was my first encounter with Type O Negative. Never heard of them before or their music for that matter. And boy, was I impressed! They played tracks from their then new album Bloody Kisses. Somewhere they started Christian Woman followed by Black No. 1 and during that I fell in love with them. My heart was broken when Peter died.
Much of the music I love and enjoy came from the 90's that is the only thing good about the 90's just because many of us had never known how badly life was gonna sodomize us doesn't mean it was really a great time.
What an amazing voice and the man l.... I can't even begin. He was such a beautiful man. So very sad I will never have the op to see him, or speak to him or listen live. I can, however keep singing along and it is like he is right there. The whole band rocks it. Thanks to my ex for showing me Type O!

Just the voice does it for me!
I met him. He bit my neck. I am infected for life
wwwhoooaaaa! I love it! What a memory!
Played this song at my wedding ceremony, this song was a shit load better than my marriage!!!!.
hhhahahahah, that`s a good comment, hhhahaha. Did you hear that, Peter?
Genuinely made me laugh, cheers ton fan!
Hahahaha nice one
🤣 😂 I hear you brother 🤣 😂
Damn that metal bro!
Played them on Howard Stern today, so I had to check some vids out. Friggin awesome. I'm a 60 year old guy heading over to Amazon to buy this album NOW
Right there w/ ya guys! I'm 60 also! We just know good rock!
Better late than never! I’m 38 and have been a fan since bloody kisses in ‘93
Great album, through and through. Rarely have the album title, the inlay artwork and the sound matched each other so perfectly. Really did a thing for me.
October Rust is just so fucking underrated and under appreciated because it’s sadly unknown by people that would appreciate it. But hopefully that will change.
I'm 42 years old and I still listen to Type O Negative!! 😎😎.
One of the best live bands for sure. Saw them years ago, and Peter scared me. Tall man, handsome, intimidating and drank red wine straight from the bottle. I've been in love with him ever since ❤️🤘
His bottle looked like a beer in that mitt i remember wondering if it was a 40oz or 12oz and it was a 750ml wine bottle
They're not rock they're gothic metal

This song is the reason why I discovered them loooooong time ago. I still can't get enough💚
I miss Peter Steele, his voice still haunts to this day.
They'll never be another singer with a voice like Peter! Keep rocking in the afterlife Peter🤘
The dream for many goth girls.
He was in playgirl
@@gloria7324 IKR? I've watched this video so many times and I can't have enough of him!
@@sarahwatkins4520 Very well said! He still is!
Such a sad world we live in now of days.
u fuckin know it rip
I've never heard anyone describe his music so perfectly ❤

Speaking of molasses. Darkness never sounded so sweet "pun intended". But as far as the guitar player I think you ment Peter Steele and he was a bass guitarist. Not a lead guitarist.
I remember Pete saying in concert that Neil called him up and told him this was the worst version of his song he had ever heard. Then he said something to the effect of, "It didn't bother me, who gives a fuck what he thinks anyways - right?" Cue the crowd going nuts. Still miss him dearly.
Huh! Love Neil, but this version is AWESOME!
Well I hope Neil Young will remember. A Type O crowd don't need him around...anyhow...
Neil was so right... this sucks.
Jammoko John Entwistle did the best version anyway
Jammoko Must disagree ... this fucking RULES!!
Pete Steele, I wish you were still with us brother. Autumn is not the same without you , Halloween is but now a shadow. You did not realize how much of an impact you were on ghouls like us. We miss you.
You just really made me cry. Thank you and never give his memory up.
hands down.
peter steele will always be a phucking legend
type o's keyboardist gives so much depth/texture/atmosphere/life into the bands tracks. dudes a musical wizard & is shamefully underrated
best cover EVER.
Type O Negative had such a unique sound.. something unheard of anymore almost ;)
as soon as you heard one of their songs start, you knew who it was... lol.
Agreed, and Steele had a very unique voice. It's unmistakable for its deepness and power
Fantastic band some freinds and I broke into a show at birch hill night club old Bridge nj at a sold out show to see thhem in 96

Always wondered what he would sound.like of he sang for the Misfits
Cover? 🤔
my girl friends girl friend loves this
haha...I see what you did there
She looks like.. puke
David Higgins Is she a christian woman?
Chris614 Christian woman or not,I would have let her burn me down for good.
Hey man WTF she's my girl, 2.
I miss him so much .he was talented and very good looking,a 6'8" Gothic vampire 🐻 with a heart of gold.
Incredible music, amazing vocalist and the whole band, it's a pity that I found them so late.
Been listening a while, getting a Peter Steele tattoo
Damn I LOVE THIS SONG..my brother was a metal head and speed metal drummer in a band in Jersey. I was blown away by this the first time I heard it years ago. Its unreal. Countless times driving around with this blasting in my car over the years. Ten out of Ten for sure
Who's here in almost 2024 still loving Peter and Type O ????❤
❤❤❤
And will always
Forever ❤!
🥇😈
It’s 5/24 still listening to Type O Negative and Carnivore !!
2021 Type O still the best there ever will be!!!
Type o negative concerts were the bomb!! I saw them when I was 15 in Dallas… definitely became a fan for life!!!
Saw them live in Hannover over 20 years ago. One of the few bands that could transfer their great studio sound 1:1 onto stage. R.I.P Mr. Steele.
Heard this song 2 years ago I am still jamming it the melody that it puts out just moves me I can feel it in my heart just can't get enough of it
This version of Cinnamon girl is wild I like the Way Type O Negative and Peter Steele Master this song this is kick ass pure genius long live Peter Steele long live the Green Man 🔥🤘😖🤘🔥
What a fun and wild concert he was such a presence on stage oh my God he was a beautiful man.
I love Type O's guitar sound!
Saw them in Cleveland OH in like 95. Great show. I'll never forget at the end Peter walked up to the mic in the thickest NY City accent you ever heard and says, "We're Type O Negative from New Yaawk. Wedder you loved us or wedder you hated us, it duddin really matter cuz ya already paid us." I been using that line in his accent every chance I get for 30 years now😂😢
Peter steele 💔💔😭😭😭 i love type o negative every time i listen to them i literally break down in tears known peter is no longer here in this world life isnt fair a legend gone way too soon i wish he was still alive R.I.P PETER YOU ARE MISSED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN REST WELL AKA THE GREENMAN💚💚💐🕊
His voice touches the soul. 😩
every song they covered, they made their own man. Greatest band of all time.
I actually got my classic rock station - which plays the Neil Young version with great frequency - to play this last night.
Amazing! 🤘🤘💚
This is considered classic now, old
Cinnamon Girl HAS TO BE played with its segue into Down by the River. It's the entire album side. Can't have one without the other.
The green man will always be alive in our hearts, rest in piece legend...
with all of the hip hop pop music and boy bands abounding in the 90s this is the band that made music bearable
Thank you Type O Negative!! Peter Steele for all inspiration through the years. R.I.P 🤘🏽
I love that his guitar strap in this video is an actual chain. Now that's pretty fucking metal!
Superb!!! 60 years young and still copious amounts of VOLUME! Talent laden band. Miss Peter but who doesn’t 😔

Thank you Type O Negative for being such a huge inspiration
Very under rated band...saw them 5-6 times from Jersey to Texas. .RIP Pete!!!!
Lucky bastard
Taken from us way too soon. Totally addicted from when I bought Bloody Kisses.
Hes just taking a Dracula nap. Vampires are immortal.
@Jay Dee and Vinny now....
They were the favorite band of one of my best friends from my teenage years... This song reminds me of some of the funny times and laughter we've had... High School as well...
Peter can sing about how to clean toilets an nobody would give a damn we would listen to it just because his voice all those guys together unreal... in 1996 at house of blues with this album he had black skinny trees with snowflakes falling from the ceiling...It was just down right awesome
So many 90's memories.
yeah dude...
I wish
I love that guitar tunning with passion and lust ! I play their songs in my guitar for hours and hours
I have been listen to the song for a long time. It never gets old. I can play it 4 or 5 times and still go for 6 7 and 8. I don't care who wrote it. Typ O just plays at the best.
I don't believe TON ever had a bad album/song. Everyone is a masterpiece!
One of the best cover songs of all time. Right up there with their version of Summer Girl
Best rendition of cinnamon girl I've ever heard !!!
Yes very much. He had such a unique voice, and they sounded different. Thank you for the music Peter....!!
Type O makes me miss the 90's. We do not know how good we had it😀
Facts.. best time of my life
We were high tide and laid to the side back then.. awesome times!! 💪☝️
You're telling me
Much of the music I love and enjoy came from the 90's that is the only thing good about the 90's just because many of us had never known how badly life was gonna sodomize us doesn't mean it was really a great time.
The guitar tone and synths are perfect. Reminds me a bit of Faith No More. Classic cover.
Since 1993 timeless,without boundaries art.tons of thank you,peter.
“You see my baby loves to dance” always gets me! 😂
Its been 13 years since he passed, and we all miss him,and always will. We miss you and love 😍 you Green Man.
Brutaaal! Long Live the TON! Peter R.I.P.
What an amazing voice and the man l.... I can't even begin. He was such a beautiful man. So very sad I will never have the op to see him, or speak to him or listen live. I can, however keep singing along and it is like he is right there. The whole band rocks it. Thanks to my ex for showing me Type O!
Been a fan since the late 80's. You can never tire of those vocals, one sexy man❤️❤️
My fucken goodness, he was a beautiful creature 😍 😭 😢 💗 ❤
I’ve been listening to Neil Youn’s original for 30 years.
This is fucking good.
These guys get it.
It just shows how much Neil is influential, from Grunge to even Type O Negative.
THE best cover I've ever heard. It never gets old. RIP Peter.
I just discovered this cover and have listened to it 100 times . these guys are good w the covers..they do summer breeze and day tripper too..
Happy Birthday Peter Ratajzcyk Steele
That deep voice and body, and beautiful hair
Takes ya back to the 90s real quick from the tune at 2:20 in.. everything comes back.
Still in 2024🤘🎸🏆
My first TON album was Origin Of The Feces 1992. “You say we suck? You paid $15… $15 American dollars to get in here… who’s the real asshole?!” Changed my life… RIP Peter Steele.
