    This is one of the best videos I've seen on RUclips no sheet! And the fact that it was shot with the RP which by the way I recently purchased can finally shut up all the ney sayers! Loved the way you incorporated the product with the climate mission! Priceless!

      Thank you, not sure how I’m seeing this now. But this means a lot to me. You’re an amazing person.

    • @codyturk

      @@jv8studios I am sorry for the super late reply. I have two Canon Eos R that I use for video. Even to this date. They don’t over heat (need longer record times than 30mins, I use the ninja v with the camera) and most of the client work that I do are for the web (1080p). So those cameras are perfect for what I do with for client work.
      To answer your question. I most definitely keep the Canon Rp around for photos. It is my go to for time-lapses. It does 6k RAW images (essentially raw video) for time-lapses. It does require extra work for post production but it is by far the better camera for time lapses than the Eos R.
      The EOS R does 4K timelapse but it’s baked into the camera. Essentially the camera takes the pictures and converts it to a video for you. Meaning you lose that raw, post production flexibility.
      Edit: outside of the timelapse feature. The RP is still a great camera. You get 26mp pictures compared to 32 on the R. Not that far off from each other.
      The only down side from the RP is you lose the dual pixel auto focus in 4K mode. But hell it’s not that bad. The 4K crop on the RP is only 1.6 I believe compared to 1.8 on the R. You do get a faster burst rate in photos from the R compared to the Rp but ehhh.

    • @codyturk

      Tough one. Spend the extra 500-600 bucks for the RF 14-35mm f4 or the 24-105 f4.
      For my current situation I’d grab that 14-34mm f4. I’ve been on a emmanuel lubezki kick lately and I have a 70-200mm ef f2.8 lens.
      If you need a all arounder for wide angle and some serious zoom the 24-105. If you like that ultra wide ability 14-35 for some crazy emmanuel lubezki shots with the ability to go on tight up to 35. Then the extra 500-600 usd is worth it. Go 14-35mm

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  2 года назад +1

      I agree, it's my go to lens for almost all of my videos. The f/4 does a great job to capture a sharp image but small enough to still achieve some great looking bokeh that isn't over done.
      I'll only grab an f/2.8 lens like the 24-70 if I need extra light or shooting a interview/talking head video.
      While $1000 isn't cheap. For a Canon L series lens it is cheap. I can be a little more careless with this lens when I'm out and about that has gotten some pretty insane video footage and photos.
      If I was running around with the RF 24-70 or the 70-200 rf lens I would have been a little more hesitant jumping onto rocks in a river for example lol.

      Super late, I still go through these comments to this day hehe.
      Yeah it’s crazy, The Rp has to be the most under rated camera solely because you get that dual pixel auto focus at FHD or 1080p. Software has become so intelligent now a days that upscaling the footage will not be noticed to the casual viewer.
      Even today or now as of this reply, I would still recommend this camera. Even with the rumors that Canon will release a new camera within the same family group as the RP. Especially if you do time-lapses. The RP does photos (raw 6k) for its timelapse instead of video. Why i keep it around, and the full frame at 1080p dual pixel auto focus and those canon colors heheh.

    Hi i have the canon rp what is rhe best settings for street videography?

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  8 месяцев назад

      That is a good question since I believe there is a few viable options. If you're a little more experience manual mode. If you're starting out, or need to shoot on the move without having to worry about settings use the "video" setting.
      If your lens has image stabilization you could try to record in 3840x2160 at 24 fps.
      If you want to do slow motion 1920x1080 at 60fps and in your editor (I use Premiere Pro) do the following.
      1. In Premiere Pro, create new project.
      2. Create a new "Sequence" and make sure "Timebase" is set to 23.976 or 24.
      3. Import video clip into your project
      3.B. Duplicate your video clip.
      4. On one of your video clips "Right Click" and select "Modify"
      5. Select "Interpret Footage" and select "Assume this Frame Rate"
      6. Type in 23.976 or 24 whatever your used in step 2.
      Now if you place that video clip on your "Timeline" it should be in slow motion.
      Since, you duplicated the clip you can use the audio or portion of the audio to use as sound effects if you wish.

      Question:
      How did you do the slow motion effect?
      Answer:
      I recorded in 60 fps at 1920x1080. For the next part, as a heads up. I use Adobe Premiere Pro.
      1 - Create a new Premiere Pro project.
      2 - Create a new Sequence (ctrl + n or cmd + n)
      3 - For "Timebase" choose either 23.976 or 24 frames/second.
      4 - Import your video clip. (Optional) Duplicate your video clip.
      5 - Right click on your original video clip.
      6 - Select "Modify" and then "Interpret Footage".
      7 - Select "Assume this frame rate" and use 23.976 or 24 fps or whatever you used in "STEP 3" and click ok.
      8 - Now drag your video clip to your timeline and it should be in slow motion.
      Back to step 4. If you created a duplicate of your video clip, you can use portions of the audio to create or use as sound effects to use with your slow motion footage.

Cheap, f/1.8, image stabilization and a macro. 2nd lens if you can’t grab the 24-105mm f4 get the new 85mm, f2, image stabilization and is also a macro lens. I would recommend skipping the nifty fifty for now and save up the extra few hundred bucks for that 85mm. Those two lens will have you set for a long time.

      Goto > Sequence > New Sequence
      Make sure you're editing on a 3840x2160, 3840x1920, 3840x1646 sequence.
      When you're done with your video just export.

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  3 года назад

      Thank you for the comment. Great question. Yep I'll usually grab the field recordings with my Tascam DR-40 after I capture the footage so that I can capture the real audio. There is some instances where I do need to find sound effects from websites like Artlist or Epidemic sounds. Off the top of my head for this video, I had to find "Flying Insects" for this video since it was a little difficult for me to get close enough to capture that. I'll then equalize, add some reverb, or whatever needs to be done to the audio in post.

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  Год назад

      Hey Richard,
      I have no doubt you could do something similar too.
      Just got to keep practicing. Take your camera with you everywhere, even if you don't plan to capture anything. You may feel weird at first, but you'll quickly get over that feeling.
      If you see something interesting, capture a fast photo or 10-30 seconds of footage to review your footage/photo and settings later.
      Sunrises & sunsets are a fantastic time to go out if you enjoy shooting outdoors. It's hard to ruin the lighting that these periods offer. Allowing you to focus on capturing outstanding footage or photos.
      If you're indoors. Turn off all the lights, and close your window blinds, too, so that you start from 0 with lighting.
      With your camera on and scene set. Slowly start adding lights to your scene and review your scene (maybe take 5-10 seconds of footage for each light you add to review later) each time you add a new light.
      Here is a few simple checklists of things to study/research/learn during your free time could be: I've included links, too, in case it helps.
      - Basics of the Exposure Triangle
      www.studiobinder.com/blog/what-is-the-exposure-triangle-explained/#:~:text=The%20exposure%20triangle%20consists%20of,elements%20properly%20expose%20a%20shot.

      www.proprints.com/blog/the-five-elements-of-nature-photography-compositions
      - Basic Lighting Techniques
      nofilmschool.com/film-lighting-techniques-and-examples
      I wouldn't be discouraged. In fact, seeing that you left a comment here and are willing to mention your frustrations shows that you're already well on your way to capturing great things. We all hit that frustration/learning phase. It's normal, and we all go through it no matter what we try to learn. I'm going through it now with After Effects. Keep grinding.

    Hi Cody, Nice video. other than that I observed your video width and length is bigger (means frame) if compare with others use video and its looks great. I am eager to know How you create this frame size (aspect ratio)?

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  4 года назад +2

      Pankaj Patel - Hey Pankaj the resolution and aspect ratio I am using is 3840x1600 or 21:9. It’s a popular aspect ratio with mobile phones which is why the video should play edge to edge on your phone watching on landscape mode without having to crop in on the video. It’s also a growing ultra wide resolution among monitors.
      ----
      3840 × 1600
      This resolution has a 12:5 aspect ratio (2.4:1, or 21.6:9). It is equivalent to WQXGA (2560 × 1600) extended in width by 50%, or 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) reduced in height by 26%. This resolution is commonly encountered in cinematic 4K content that has been cropped vertically to a widescreen 2.4:1 aspect ratio. The first monitor to support this resolution was the 37.5-inch LG 38UC99-W. Other vendors followed, with Dell U3818DW, HP Z38c, and Acer XR382CQK. This resolution is referred to as UW4K, WQHD+,[27] UWQHD+, or QHD+,[28][29][30] though no single name is agreed upon.

      raksh9 for the smooth focus pulls. I set the af point to the single af point so that way I had some if not complete control on what to focus on and in camera I adjusted the tracking one notch towards the smooth side. It did take me 2-3 takes for a lot of these shots. All hand held. I do want to say recording in 60fps for that x2 or x2.5 slow motion helped and throwing a warp stabilizer on most of the clips helped out a lot too. Great question and thank you for the generous comment.

    • @codyturk
      @codyturk  4 года назад +1

      I think what helped the most was using the single auto focus point. It really gives you complete control what to focus on.
