Now I know what it looks like to be Plini's breakfast
He just gazes longingly at it for 1 hour 44 minutes
You know what Plini looks like when you are bread on a plate in front of him in the afterlife.
Lmao
Thank you for discussing more than just the typical topics like string gauges and biggest influences! This was great!
Glad you enjoyed it!
"trying not to trigger up a dark part of another person" Absolute genius statement/observation - Love Plini's energy/attitude too 🤙
Thank you so much. Its a hard learned lesson.
after listening to all of the podcasts Devin has posted to date, when he said at 22:28 that he hopes plini holds on to his joy and good life for as long as possible it hit differently because I knew that Devin really meant it. That man has seen and known darkness and chaos for many years. After listening to and reflecting on Devins podcasts its like I was in on a secret.
You three are vibin' so good, I wouldn't mind if the interview was like 10 hours long :D
watching Plini laugh to himself silently is my new favorite thing
Agreed! He is pure light
It’s amazing how much time Devin puts into a project. Just being asked to write some music for infants using colour becomes instantly interesting. The capability of coming up with a concept and holistically taking it on from all angles is bonkers. I know creatives have time on their hands, or are distracted with what’s going on in the world but I find it so interesting when he delves into the process of creating.
Yes! Had to hold my jaw from dropping the whole time he was explaining. As I mention, that's some Bowie-level creative depth!
he blows my mind, hes the metal version of michael jackson, puts so much into creating songs!!!
Thank you Christina, such an enjoyable discussion. After listening to Devin's podcasts just a few weeks prior, it made this one an even better listen as I had some references to link with.
You are all beautiful humans.
Thanks
Two of my favourite musical minds. What a treat! Thanks so much for making this happen!
My pleasure! Had a blast dude!
Thank you SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! I cant believe im seeing my 2 favorite guitarists!!!!
glad you enjoyed!
Devin is my favorite artist of all time, and Plini has been my favorite artist recently. This video is a godsend.
Yay!
Wow, this is one of the best interviews I've ever heard. Thanks Chistina, Plini and Devin for this.
I had the strongest feeling they were the right combination of artists to bring together ... was mega blown away by the contrast and synchronicity. Glad you enjoyed it!
These two artists have created and are creating some of the most amazing music. Love them both and thank you, Christina, for bringing them together here.
Thank you! I had this blindingly clear idea that it would work and luckily they were both super up for it. Yay!
I only have one thing to say: I absolutely loved this conversation.
Thanks Topi!
First timer here, long time Devhead, recent Plini-discoverer. Loving the vibe, I'm a subscriber.
Welcome! If you enjoy Devin interviews, here's my last mega 47 minute one, back when we could have majestic American musicians in our country, in person: ruclips.net/video/gEU8NfbOIFg/видео.html
Thank you!
@@TheVoidwithChristina Hey, thanks for the link. I was one of the lucky ones to caught him on the Empath-tour, and having a couple hours of vacation. Sure seems like a lifetime ago...
Thanks for getting these two together. Big fan of both of them, and thanks to them they've brought me to your podcast.
Plini pulling off the angel vibes
Even with the pristine angelic white backdrop, corners of ceiling lined up perfectly with the frame :)
This is the 2nd interview I've seen with you and Dev You do an excellent job, and you are very interesting yourself. So many of his interviews are just re-hashed questions. And both times the conversation was just a joy. Plini is awesome as well, and I loved hearing how he has been able to avoid and pull back from the darkness in the industry. I agree with Dev - you can hear it in his music. Thank you!
By far the two people I listen to the most right now. It's not by accident I think. They both have that natural positive and inspiring vibe with a lot of melody that I love. Absolutely awesome to hear them talk together.
Glad you dug it!
I fucking NEED this record Devin is talking about.
Heavy Devy and Light Plini!!! What an absolutely AMAZING conversation!!!! Thank you Christina!!!!
Man, Plini reminds me of me from about 3 years ago for the first 23 years of my life...I always had a feeling there was something that really resonated with me about his music, and this conversation all but confirms it. Speaking of...what an amazing combination of artistic genius in an online interview format. You've done it again, Christina! =)
That's wonderful you feel this way!
It has been subconsciously bugging me for a long time, that Devin really reminds me of somebody. Watching this it hit me, and now I will never get it out of my head. David Letterman. Doppelgänger.
What a fantastic way to spend some heartbeats! Devin's constantly several steps on from next level. His next project sounds mind blowing. Never heard of Plini before so off on a deep dive myself. Thank you for this Christina.
Oh awesome! If you love Devin I'm almost positive Plini will be up your street for sure!
Amazing, two of my absolute favourite musical artist in one place. The sheer depth, and shallowness of this interview is possibly indicative of what I also appreciate about them. It's rare to have the opportunity to dive into the minds of other (known and respected) musicians like this. So thanks Christina. Btw, I hope the coming project from Dev will have Morgan Ågren on drums... And, the latest album from Plini is an absolute gem. There are (personal opinion here) acts out there today which really blows my mind and the work from these two creative minds usually do.
I thought I was dreaming when I saw the title of this recommended video. RUclips algorithm knows that Devin and Plini are two of my ultimate favorites! AND WE NEED A COLLAB BETWEEN THEM! The thought of that just makes me swoon.
Glad you enjoyed it Rob!
He'll be running around with Brian Eno next (o;
@@laekrits Devin, Brian, and Plini please.
@@joelcprice Hasn't he been hanging around the BBC?
@@laekrits Not sure. I don't follow him all that closely, but it wouldn't surprise me. I love his solo work and what he did with U2. Most people hate it. But I think he opened that band up to a whole other level of experimentation. Not that Lillywhite and Lanois suck. Brian just added something really unique. I think he and The Edge probably had some really crazy conversations.
Fantastic interview, great insight and thank you so much for curating this - what a blessing!
So many interviewers just don't know how to handle the way Devin talks about his trip, but Christina was really keen to plumb the depths of the proverbial rabbit hole here! Lots of interesting talk, particularly with how Plini's recognition of his own fortune has played into his music - a lot of people wouldn't have the insight to be so aware of that or comfortable with it
I'm 20 minutes in and just in awe of these artists. Thank you Christina!
One of my favorite youtube interviews of all time. Christina, this was just wonderful, thank you!
Great conversation. Enjoyed, thanks
Thank you so much for this interview. I'm not sure how to phrase it so I'll leave it at a feeling: listening to this conversation really warmed my heart.
Can't ask for much more than that in a viewing experience, thanks Raoul!
Edit: i pretty much rephrased this video's description 😂
Great video/conversation. I love when musicians I like talk about music and their process but it becomes even better when it transforms into talk about life and views and musics relationship with it all.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TheVoidwithChristinaHey! Do you know Cloudkicker? He seems like a cool guy and another interesting person to have on
As I listened to the new Plini album I thought "Wow this is quite like Devy!" and then this podcast was uploaded :)
Me too! Why I did it, really
Utterly fantastic. Thanks for pulling this together Christina, a pleasure to watch!
Thank you! So happy they both said yes!
Thanks for this one! Really enjoyable conversation
I have no idea how I found this podcast but I'm glad I did. it was a great listen.
Welcome! Much more to listen to, both here and on the actual podcast channels, here: open.spotify.com/show/3DT1I6tNiSssUN8lVnkzMt
I love this. My favorite interviews and podcasts are ones where it feels like a conversation between friends. Thanks for enlightening my day and refreshing my perspective on art and the act of being an artist.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice conversation. Resonates well with me as a professional scientist and music lover.
Dankeschön ❣️ 🤗 ✨
Bro that Devin Townsend album intrigues me more and more the more i hear about it. I CANNOT WAIT!
The jaw drop I had to contain was real. Cannot wait either.
@@TheVoidwithChristina Ive been following it since he first mentioned it. This was by far the most information hes released about it at once and it sounds incredible. I have full faith hes going to do that idea justice. Ill be listening the day it comes out! Great interview, Christina!
Thank you for this awesome interview 😎
You're welcome!
I'd love to see Mike Lessard in this show!
Good idea!
As a person who is more on a positive mindset closer to Plini I find it pleasing to see him a bit smiling on some of Devin's depressive "darkness and misery" parts. Love Devin's genius music and personality, but absolutely glad that being a genius doesn't always come with pain and self-hate (as we can see from Plini's example)
Enjoyed the video so much though
I love the contrast! You can totally feel how Plini's music is a reflection of his lighter experience hey!
It feels to me like Devin generally has beauty and positivity in his music and world-view, but he felt people were starting to lean on that so Empath and post-Empath there's been more acknowledgment of the darker spectrum of emotions. Being realistic to life's challenges and "lows" rather than sunshine, rainbows and happiness all the time
Devin interviews Christina and Plini ^^
love you both
Good stuff 😊🤘
I love how Plini is just chilling here and trolling.
I wish I was as chilled as Plini.
I wish we were all as Zen as hell as that mighty guitarist is, also.
This is beautiful, guys. :)
Had so much fun!
@@TheVoidwithChristina So did I. I mean, all of us hah.
Damn, I look forward to Dev's new record(s)
Looks like il be listening to devin with my kids on cbeebies then. Im saved!
Oooh, “women’s choir” I wonder if he’s working with Elektra Women’s Choir again? They were wonderful on Empath!
Wow awesome!! Thanks
This interview made me go create stuff.
Yaaay
now I wanna hear "Grace Guys" lol
I don't think I've ever heard Plini's work. Time to change that I think !
Yessss
I wanna hear Plini scream and go into anger mode with his music lol
13:17 hehe
12:23 - the most pretentious rambling I've ever heard (not an insult😉): totally here for it! 😂❤ Honestly though, Devy's music helped me realize that heavy music can also be joyful instead of reinforcing cyclical negativity
I wonder when Plini says he feels guilty for being successful, he's referring to Steven Taranto.
Did something happen to Stephen? Haven't heard about it.
@@j.steelflex9115 it's just that Plini is becoming wildly successful and he knows he's not the greatest guitarists in the world. He sees a lot of his friends who are superior technician in every rite not selling as much...I wonder if he was specifically talking about Stephen when he said he feels guilty
Devin is doing kids' music, so when is Plini gonna join The Wiggles?
Christina, why oh why did you not leave Devin's fart in? The man's a brilliant guitarist and singer, I'm sure he's a brilliant farter too!
Unfortunately he didn’t do it while recording! A true loss of a moment 😂😂
