    OK the releasing of "soot" particles into the atmosphere thing is a long time theory. Gates didn't come up with it. It's not the "ozone layer" either, it's the stratosphere. It's basically a mechanism to lower global temps relatively quickly if we ever need to do so. The soot basically blocks some of the solar radiation and reflects it back into space. It doesn't stay up there too long, so it's something that has to be done on a fairly regular basis to keep the "sun shield" up. It works the same way that large volcanic eruptions have lowered global temps in the past, and in a similar way that aircraft condensation trails also play a tiny role in lowering temps. The primary method of spreading the "soot" will be by injecting the chemicals that produce it into jet engine exhausts. Sounds crazy, but it's actually real.

    • @TheVoidwithChristina
      @TheVoidwithChristina  3 года назад +2

      @@JamesBurwellActual OK so first of all, I don't believe any of the 20th century isms are the right approach for a 21st century dying planet with eight billion people and an ignorance and inequality crisis on a global scale. So yeah, when people start spouting off a set of "ism-based" principles I question if they've thought for themselves at all or are just regurgitating what they think is what their "team" is meant to believe. However, I do live in a country with a healthcare and welfare system based on a socialist model - and the idea of living under the horrific American regime without a significant safety net is not appealing to me. I also see capitalism for what it is - a brutally inequitable exploitative failed experiment that nonetheless factors into my ambitions for amassing wealth to distribute to worthy causes and provide the people around me a better quality of life.
      As far as this podcast is concerned, there are a number of things that John and I don't agree on, but we do share one fundamental value: think for yourself, question authority. Whilst a number of his views aren't mine, we definitely share a love for punk rock culture and critical, independent thought - whether our perspectives are right or not is besides the point. His books about discipline, music, art, eating and a positive mental attitude have profoundly changed the way I operate and his story is incredible - would recommend reading all of them. As far as the vaccine is concerned - I think BioNTech are a company that is worth putting faith in, especially considering the credentials of the scientists behind it (and this vaccine was NOT developed by Pfizer, the real scientists effectively just signed a distro deal to get it out there). Whilst I honestly don't like living in a world where I'm forced to do things (and trust me, being in lockdown right now because my government couldn't organise a jab rollout in a pandemic - not unlike organising a root in a brothel, to use an Australian term - will affect your perspective), a vaccine is my ticket to an international ticket out of here - I know they'll mandate it for travel, and most importantly, I respect scientists over laymen when it comes to an epidemiology crisis. I'll be getting the jab, even if I'm not all the way happy with the way we have to do it.
      The fact that everyone here is making an opinion about someone based on one thing they don't agree on is another reason why we can't seem to have nuanced, intelligent conversations where we don't have to all agree, which troubles me. Real discussion around this could be really beneficial.
      I am a journalist and did my best to stay out of things and stay objective, and burning Pearl Jam is the only time I've ever engaged in dissing a band on camera (with the exception of KISS, fuck those guys) but yeah. I don't know. The Gonzo approach sometimes isn't avoidable.
      Anyway, that's as based as I'd like to get (no idea if I'm using that word right).
      Thanks for being a part of my comments section, I enjoy your input.

    • @JamesBurwellActual
      @JamesBurwellActual 3 года назад

      @@TheVoidwithChristina Well that's a lot to unpack.
      Those area actually 19th century "isms", but they are still very relevant today, esp. in the USA today, since many leftists in the USA are advocating and voting "blue" to drive us towards a socialist/communist world because they truly believe, in cult like fashion, that it is better, and will "work this time", despite recent examples of it not working "this time" (Venezuela, and of course Cuba). It's in everyone's interest to STOP clueless people who call themselves "progressives" from leading us down the garden path to communism since communism is only a temporary condition anyway, ALWAYS decaying into tyranny. It is not progress, or "new", it's going back to an OLD, failed, 19th century system dreamed up by a "rich kid" who spent his life sponging off his brother and who probably came up with communism because he was pissed that aunt wouldn't release his inheritance. (read up on Marx)
      To be "based" is to be "based in reality". To look at the world, and people, and how they work objectively and to understand what works and what doesn't, etc. What works is Capitalism. I know it's "hip" and "anti-authority" etc etc to be an anti-capitalist. But it's a bit dimwitted, TBH. You live under a capitalist system. Your life is good because of it. Capitalism has pulled more people from abject poverty into living like kings relative to the past, even even relative to nobles and lords from the past, than any other system. Is it perfect? No. Can it be reformed and refined? Yes. Are the inequities? Of course. Life is inequity. Not everyone has the same DNA, the same upbringing, the same brain development, and the million other factors that make up what a person is or becomes. You can't force equalize everyone. You can't enforce equality of outcome. What you CAN do is give them equality of opportunity. So everyone has a chance to achieve happiness, however they find it, and achieve their goals. The recipe for this is liberty and capitalism, aka, free trade. AKA, what you probably describe as the "horrific american regime".
      Understand tha America also has many social safety nets, more than most people think. It is more "socialistic" in the regard than most outside of the USA realize. Things like health care though, is a whole 'nother can of worms. The American system is a mess. It needs serious reform. But having the govt (e.g. the taxpayers) fund it and thus RUN it is probably not the right solution. Every approach has its pluses and minuses. I could go on for pages about subjects surrounding health care and other social safety nets, but let's just say, I'm not completely opposed in all respects, but I think there may be many better ways that simply work better that we haven't really tried yet. Problem is, it's far easier to sell Santa Clause to people than a more realistic system which might work better.
      As far as vaccines go, I'm a pro-vaxxer in general. I DO have my reservations about the C19 vax though, and although I intend to take it, I'm in a sort of "wait and see" mode right now. Why? 1) Because it was a vaccine which was developed very quickly, without the normal safeguards and thoroughness of testing and trial that other vaccines have gone through. 2) I want to see if there are any negative effects 3) I want to wait until we know which vaccine is the best, so I can get the best one. 4) I'm not terribly afraid of C19, because I take precautions, and in the end, it's an extremely survivable illness. My 78 year old mother had it and is fine (caught it from her physical therapist).
      Having said that, the FDA process of approving medicines is probably a bit TOO conservative. This is all a result of the Thalidomide disaster of the 1950s and 60s, which caused tens of thousands of babies to be born with horrible birth defects (read up on it). This caused the FDA to go HAM with an ultra-conservative, super-slow, and super-expensive approval process that likely should have some reform.
      I also didn't agree with much of what John said, but also agreed with a lot of it, so we're about the same there.
      Dissing Pearl Jam IMHO is a bit unprofessional. Everyone has music and bands they love and hate. I'm a total metalhead myself, but I also love all sorts of other music and genres. And I enjoyed me some Pearl Jam and other grunge stuff back in the day. I can listen to some hardcore punk, some brutal death metal, then the next album that comes up might be prog or power metal, the the next may just be a rock or grunge album. I just like good music despite the genre. I even like KISS! I grew up on them. I know people have a lot of problems w/ Gene Simmons though, which I can understand. You'd be surprised how many musicians you like are and were huge KISS fans. You may not like their personalities, or their politics. But if I refused to listen to any band whose politics I disagreed with ... I'd have very few bands to listen to. :-)
      Anyway, I only made the original comment because in this interview you didn't come off sounding like some banal sophomore college student who just got out of a class being taught by some academic reality bubble ensconced hippy prof. indoctrinating kids in the wonders of collectivism, which is, tragically, often the norm for people involved with the music and entertainment industry. :-)
