I always admired Trevor Francis as a player, but learning about his personal struggles really puts things in perspective!
Lads, we all know Trevor Francis as the million-pound man of football. But beneath that fame, he was battling silent demons like his wife passing, a brutal heart attack, and a few more things that took his life tragically. Let’s discuss them!
Trevor John Francis, born on April 19, 1954, in Plymouth, wasn't just any football player; he was a game-changer in every sense. Imagine being the first British footballer to be bought for a whopping 1 million pounds! That was Trevor in 1979 when he moved from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest.
At Forest, he didn't just play; he made history by scoring the goal that won the 1979 European Cup final against Malmö. His career didn't stop at the clubs; he also wore the England jersey 52 times from 1976 to 1986, scoring 12 goals and even playing in the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
But Trevor wasn't only about playing. From 1988 to 2003, he switched gears to managing teams like Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham City, and Crystal Palace. Talk about a football life!

A very sad commentary on the life of a man who was presumed to have everything. Nobody knows how many people struggle with demons in their private lives. May he rest in peace.

I watched him from start to finish at St Andrews, he once said if you can't run you can't play football, he could run alright and he certainly could play football, another saying from his time at St Andrews was There is no Substitute for hard work, how true is that? our very popular saying was Trevor Francis can walk on water! What a wonderful player he was, R.I.P. Trev and Thank you!

Who knows what he could have achieved if he never had so many injuries
I support Nottingham forest and have done so since 1978 I was 12 at the time I was born in London and never got the chance to see Trevor playing I remember in 1980 I was fishing at Walton on Thames I always went fishing on Saturday with my dad and two brothers and always took my radio to listen to Sports watch on LBC or Sport on 2 on radio 2 and remember listening to Trevor scoring twice against Crystal Palace I was ecstatic but my mood changed when he was carried off the pitch with an Achilles Tendon injury that would keep out for nearly a year I was also fishing at Walton on Thames when he made his comeback against Sunderland in a 3-1 victory I was so happy I kicked my tub of maggots in the river
Rest In Peace Trevor you are missed 🙏

Super Boy, when he started his pro career, that’s what the press named him, what a player, him and big Bob Larchford up front, it still sends goosebumps down my spine. The blues had a fantastic team then, very exciting, very attacking, just wonderful to watch. RIP TF

When I was a boy I had Trevor Francis's football card not the sticker but the proper card. I can't remember the other player cards but his a head shot in his Birmingham City kit. It breaks my heart that him and so many players I watched as a child on MOTD & The Big Match have passed away, may they all RIP. ❤

Met him after his first game for Nottingham Forest against Exeter City. He parked his Jag on our street. I asked him for his autograph and what a decent bloke, not like Shilton who told us to fxck off, and pushed us aside and got on his coach.
    Bit of knob tbf.
45 years on and and I still have the thought that Francis was decent and Shilton a knobhead
