    thank you so much for answering my question!! you are so sweet and obviously educated and experienced!!! I have no doubt that you are an amazing hair stylist. After listening to you, I have a whole new appreciation for what goes into coloring/highlighting hair! (I should have mentioned that I am a natural blonde, but pretty processed). This was very helpful.

    Thank you so much, this was clear, concise and finally answering some questions for me without wasting my time or trying to sell me something! I think it's finally solved my dilemma of why highlights in one place (virgin hair) come out orange and then getting them done 3 days ago came out ash blond - even though she told me there was no toner. I'm not sure if different bleach/developer makes a difference - this was Kevin Murphy. Thank you for answering the basics, much appreciated :-)

    Really useful video, thanks. Today my stylist left my ash toner on to long on my extremely porous bleached hair; its gone a dark grey colour. He swears it will wash out but I am sceptical. I am gutted, my hair certainly cannot take any more bleach to correct this. . He tried a colour cleanser straight away, and tonight I noticed a lot of colour in the bath when I deep conditioned it. Thanks again.

      Thankyou so much this is an awesome explanation, I wish the stylist I had at the salon yesterday would have understood this when I told him I had this problem before and didn't want it again. I even suggested not toning it. Now my hair is grey and silver instead of blonde. I've had better results from box colour. ☹

    The last 3 times I've had my roots done at a salon (at 3 different salons) my hair turned gray with purplish highlights. The last time was yesterday. This NEVER happens when I buy over the counter hair color and do it myself. I googled this and followed a recipe for 3/4 C lemon juice mixed with 1/4 C of a deep conditioner, saturated my hair, wrapped it in a towel and let it sit for an hour... and...it... was... gone, my roots were still colored, but the gray and purple tints were completely gone! It works and the hour long deep conditioning made my hair come out shiny and smooth. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  6 лет назад +3

      Nicole Pope if it does she is not formulating correctly, if she is using an ash green based toner over yellow hair it will turn green. She needs to think of the color wheel, and used a violet based toner. I know it sounds crazy but adding a touch of gold with the violet helps fill in the porous hair and leave it blonde and bright NOT gray. 💗 toners can be tricky!

      I would go opposite, so more of an orange toned/gold color. Orange and blue are opposites so it helps counteract. So I would use a color a few shades lighter than what your hair is so it doesn't go too dark.

  • @alisonclairecollins

    Hello- Thank you so much for your video- super helpful! I am hoping you may be able to help me. I am a natural medium brown and decided that I would go to a stylist to try to make myself a bit blonder for summer. Unfortunately, the stylist was not experienced- foiled by entire head with bleach and left it on forever (heating with a blow dryer which I know is a huge no-no!) and didn't use any toner. I left the salon looking horrid (basically white blonde streaks with my dark base poking through- kind of a "cruella de vil" vibe). I had to go out that night so I purchased a box medium brown dye which saved the day (somewhat). It made it look fine for the time being - but is still far from desirable. It is now a medium brown with the white streaks poking through (because she did so many they still show way more than I'd like them to). I would either like to go back to all medium brown and find a way to re-introduce color to those super bleached strands, or find a way to warm up the color of the strands so they appear more like natural blonde highlights (whatever would be easier and least damaging!). Do you have any suggestions? Also - I luckily had super thick, resilient hair that seems a bit drier of course, but not nearly as damaged as it probably could be, thankfully)Thanks so much in advance !!!

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 лет назад

      I would do a deep conditioner, the cuticles of those hairs are probably blown up so immediately after coloring they don't do a great job accepting color. Deep condition a few times and make sure you choose a brown shade with some warmth in it. If you do it yourself buying a color from Sally's will be better than drugstore because it should have the undertones of the color described rather than just a name. Have you considered calling the salon and talking to them about it if you aren't happy? There should be a manager or owner who can help you out with this who is experienced! Good luck!

    Hi; I have previously done highlights with a peroxide based supermarket kit, around 2 months ago. Around 8 hours ago I went to the salon and got a blonde balayage done. Upon the toning of my hair, the new and old bits of hair I have had dyed had turned a greyish/ purple colour. I washed my hair again and the new bits of work have gone to a blonde and the grey has faded. My old work has stayed grey. I am concerned and don’t know what to do as options. Is it possible to go to a salon and for them them to re dye over the old bleach parts with my natural base hair colour. I know I have only recently had the toner and have washed it once so I am hoping eventually the grey colour in the old work will fade.

    I just got highlights and lowlights and the stylist did a really good job. My hair is down to the middle of my back and I have had highlights/lowlights for years and so I definitely have damaged hair. Some damage is from trying a new stylist and having a bad experience. I know that makes her job harder! The lowlight did come out darker, like the color grabbed in certain sections of my hair but I think that is because of damage. Mostly it looks great. The highlights came out perfect too. I am going to replay this and listen to it again! Thank you!

    Is there a way to fix the drab results of toning over a level say 10 blonde that is now ashy grey green level 7 blonde result even thought the color was listed as a level 9 WB warm beige blonde. Still resulted in ashy green despite saying it was a warm tone. I’m kinda stuck now because after the long summer of swimming and attempting a few months ago to “ clarify” the pool chemicals out of my hair I unfortunately ruined and stripped my delicate level 9-10 hi lift blonde. It wasn’t bleached but it was a hi lift hair color over a level 7 dark blonde with more than 50%gray

    Hi, Thanks for the great video! I am a natural dark ash blonde/light ash brown (level 6/7 according to most hairdressers) and I was looking to lighten my hair at home. I am wondering if I could just get away with doing it with using an extra light as blonde or an ultra light ash blonde to get lighter or if I need to bleach and tone it. (I am aiming to get to a light/medium natural blonde hair and I don;t mind to have a bit of warmth in my hair. I do badly with colors that are too ash or too orange). Thanks

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  5 лет назад

      You could try a color if you only want to go a couple shades lighter, but if you use color to lift, always use something ash, or it will go super warm! Otherwise you could bleach and tone, but that is a little more tricky to do at home.

    Great video! I have a question, I have extreeemely bleached hair (white) and I actually wanted my hair to turn greyish when I dyed it using a natural blonde (I used a 7), but it has a bit of a greenish tone to it. My full plan is to make a sort of smokey, rose-pink, antique looking balayage. Will the pink tone out some of the green or should I fix the greenish color before I do the smokey pink?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 лет назад

      LinzMushel The pink tone will neutralize the green and make it a normal color, I would try to bleach wash it or use a clarifying wash first or your pink won't be popping! :)

    I have really dark brown natural hair and got some highlights done. I think my hair stylist left the bleach on for too long and after she toned it, my hair looks gray! How do I tone it back to brown? At this point, I don't even care if hides the highlights, I just want to make sure my hair isn't gray. I don't want to dye my whole hair, so I was thinking of applying a dark brown warm toner only on the highlight area. Would that work? Thank you so much for the video!

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  8 лет назад +3

      +Luciana M. Velez Yes. I would go lighter than you think so it doesn't alter the rest of the hair. Porous hair will soak up the color quick, and it would look really pretty to have slight caramel highlights as well. I would do 2 levels lighter than your hair color to be safe. (if you insist on covering completely you can do a 5) So if you hair is a very dark brown, say a level 4 pick something thats a level 6 I would pick a brown with red undertones. You might think you don't want it red but you need those warm tones to counteract the ashy ness. It doesn't need to be straight red brown, just have some hints of it. Also you could pick a brown color you like (warm) and get a red color and mix a 1 in line of color (like squeeze from the tube till it measures 1 inch) for every ounce of the brown you mix. This will act as a filler in the formula, so the hair doesn't turn yucky green. Good luck!

    Excellent explaination. I have a question?; My hair is a different tone at the front and top to the underneath. I am going grey at the top and it also goes lighter from the sun. I have been using an ash blonde colour(Loreal les blondissemes ligh ash blonde) for over 15 years which always gave me a lovely true blonde, but now where its lighter its looking far too ash. I have very warm undertones in my hair so worried that if I use a warmer colour all over it will go canary yellow or orange in the lower parts of my hair (its happened to me before!). Any advice appreciated!

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  6 лет назад

      Sorry for the late reply, had crazy life. But what I would suggest is getting a blonde color that looks very similar (not ash) to the result of your original color (not the color on the box but what color it actually goes) then I would test it on the patch that goes ashy. If you can find the right shade I would just apply the original shade all over and just apply the new color only to the area that goes ash! You can just lay a piece of foil down and saturate the hair that is gray, and lay it over the top. Good luck!

    I just watched this, my 1st video of urs & am so impressed by ur knowledge that I'm subbing! But I do hv a question-I bleached my hair, all over to a Level 8 which has a yellow-gold underlying exposed pigment (sorry, but I'm a stylist too lol) so I could put a pretty blonde *hair-color* over it. Well I put an 8A (8.1) *permanent* on it. At the 8 minute mark my hair looked almost black w/a silver cast/violet tone to it so I immediately washed it out-of course I did not condition it. Dry it looks between a Level 5 & 6....as a stylist myself, I don't understand what happened. I know bleach causes porosity, but this has not ever happened to myself or on a client, thank goodness! Do u think u could give me some insight on why this happened? This was my 1st all over bleach. I would very much appreciate anything u could tell me. Thanks. Marie

      marie mj Sorry this took me so long to get back to you! It got shuffled down in my comments so I couldn't see it. Did it lighten up by now? Whenever I do a toner over my pre lightened hair I always do a demi, it just seems to me it works better with toning. (That way I don't have to worry about it changing the other hair, I know that doesn't apply here but that is one reason I like to use it.) I don't like to use a permanent unless the hair has had time to rest. It seems when I use a permanent after bleaching it does grab too much and goes dark. I am guessing you were right that it was so pourous it just soaked the color right up. I have had very fragile blonde hair ( a client) I lifted the roots only and put lowlights in, I used a color 8/10 and it went to like a 5/6. So although not always common it can happen. It should spit the color out, if it hasn't already. I would condition condition condition. Make sure you get some good protein and a moisture treatment on it. Also I would use olaplex when lightening. Although spendy it helps reform the bonds when lightening so it doesn't blow the cuticle out. When you color again I would do a demi, my personal color line for demi is matrix color sync. That stuff is my absolute favorite and I feel like it never lets me down! Any more questions feel free to ask!

      Girlbehindthechair09 thank you for responding to me. I ended up getting all the pretty but completely *unwanted* color out of my hair. What I did & I don't recommend this to anyone, was make a frothy paste of baking soda, shampoo, Redken Anti Snap (1tbsp) & water.Then I put myself under the dryer for just a couple minutes. As a stylist I know that baking soda will literally "wash out" an ash accident that has gone wrong & processed gray or porous hair that turns lavender after using ash. In my case, both. As a stylist i shoulda known better. But since it had been a couple months since the bleaching, I figured I was safe. My hair is now a beautiful Level 6 w/an ash undertone-but nothing to the extreme. Just back to normal. I was about to give up my career as a hairstylist, I was getting that depressed. Thankfully, my husband assured me not everything will go smoothly, just do the best I can & keep learning. Anyway, Normally my fave is Shades eq but I will check out the 1 u recommended & Olaplex is already on order (that stuff IS a pretty penny huh!) Again, thank u so much for ur help, opinions, recommendations & responding so soon! ♡ Marie

    I have a question, I have level 9 bleached blonde hair and want to warm it up a level 6 chestnut brown for base, and add piece out caramel highlights. What would you do to get those tones? I wanted to use only professional lines. Thank you for your time!

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 лет назад

      +Baby Mendoza I can't give out exact color formulations without seeing your actual hair, condition, porosity of hair and timing all effect the outcome. I would say to use a very warm brown, you need warm and gold in the base so your hair doesn't go ash. Then when you are applying the color just take the pieces you want lighter and put a level 8/9 golden blonde on those pieces. Even though you are already a 9, bleached hair will soak up color and always go darker. You can separate those pieces by using saran wrap or tin foil. You could always search " how to foil hair" and that could be helpful to you.

    In South America, our hair tends to go orange which we hate. I am brunette and have grey hair also, so I need to use something ashy. I would say that what I like is called "very light blonde with ash". My stylist uses 1/2 of a 9 and 1/2 of a 10, but still comes up dark. What can she change (with just peroxide)? Thank you!

      Irene Anzures Sorry I was late answering this question! You will need a red based toner something not with gold in it, but red! you could mix some red dye into your shampoo and kind of shampoo it in for a few mins. Again sorry if I missed your wedding!

    Hi I love your video, and your comments made me realize I am not alone in this :) I have been using box blonde hair color for at least 10 years with no issues. I desided to get it professionally colored back to my regular hair color which is a ash blonde. I asked the stylist if using ash blonde would make my hair green/grayish she said no! I trusted her :) It looked amazing the day it was done. Now 3 days later it is turning greenish. I am 3 hours away so I can't get her to fix it. I read on another post where I should use red to make it neutral. I am scared to death to color it red!! I read that other people have had success with red color depositing shampoo's? Do you think that this would work opposed to dying my already damaged hair?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  8 лет назад

      I would try a red shampoo mix a little with regular shampoo first to dilute it try that and see if it does the trick so it doesn't soak up too much. Hope it helps! Also make sure you are using a good sulfate free shampoo or color safe shampoo so you don't strip the color out.

    I used a pale blonde toner to lighten my hair one level, but it doesn't cover my grays, will a brown hair dye like a medium brown cover the grays and the previous lightened/toned hair or do I have to go dark brown?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty

      its not about how dark the color is, its whether its formulated for gray coverage. It should say on the box for gray coverage, and you can pick whatever shade you like. Just make sure you use 20 vol dev.

My hairstylist bleached it and used a ashy color to cancel the brassiness but now my hair looks too ashy and it has like almost a green hue to it. How can i fix this?? +Angie Guzman sorry I had a wedding so I've been super busy and not able to respond to comments as quick as I usually do. I would try washing with dawn soap first to try and strip some of the green out. If that doesn't work you could use a strawberry blonde toner but watch it close, it can take only a min or two to pull out the green. Gold will just make it golden green, you need the red hues in there to cancel the green. good luck!

Thanks in advance :)

    • @Biceps.and.beauty

      mexican barbie The only way to lighten it to a blonde is to use a bleach or other kinds of lightener. Color will not work. If it has an ashy toner on it one thing you can do is wash your hair with dawn dish soap that will fade the color faster. I would go in and have a ton of highlights weaved in then have them toned to the correct honey color. :) It probably came out gold, so she used too strong of a color to tone down the gold and now its ashy, also because it was it probably porous grabbed the color so it went darker than intended. If you have a good relationship with your hairstylist she should be willing to fix it for you for no charge. Good Luck!

    Hi, I have had foils put into my hair and only a couple chunks of my hair has turned grey as these chunks were previously lighter than the rest of my hair. I really like the rest of my colour. Will these grey bits of hair fade? If so to what colour? Because i really don't want to re-dye my hair or ruin the rest of my hair colour which I'm happy with.

      Claudia S Those bits should fade, most likely to a more platinum blonde. If they are super noticeable and don't fade, you could have your stylist pick them out into a foil and put a golden toner on them for a min and they will be back to good as new!

    Hello!
    I recently got my hair balayaged, I have dirty blonde hair & she added some lighter blonde balayage highlights to my hair. When she washed it she used purple shampoo & now some of the high lights are a silver/grey ashy tint. I am wondering if the purple shampoo is a toner & will the silvery/ashy tone wash out, if so how long will this take? It has been 6 days since I got it colored & I have washed it about 2 times since I got it done. I would appreciate any advice on what I should do to get rid of that ashy tone from the purple shampoo.

    EMERGENCY I NEED HELP!!!!
    So basically I got highlights 2 days ago the first day when it was styled washed etc. It didn't look so bad after I washed it though I noticed the vibrance of the hair had faded away and it just looks burned and damaged.I searched up videos on how to lighten it at home and came accross some home remedies and some chemical remedies.home remedies included honey,lemons,baking soda (question:which is most effective?) The chemical remedies I found were toners (question:how do I use them effectively and without damage also I dont want my hair to go back to its natural brown color plz help me!!!) And I am kind of stuck with a grey toned blonde until i figure out what to do.Also the lady who did my highlights barely separated my strands of hair so now it looks like from my shoulders to my lower back my hair is grey and from my roots to my shoulders my hair is dark brown it is very messed and i need helppp!!!! (P.S this was my first time dying my natural hair)

    This is so informative, and helped me understand how I ended up with gray highlights on my level 6n hair. I have a question about achieving my desired result. I asked the stylist for natural, fine highlights that leaned on the cooler side in order to blend my grays on my level six hair. I ended up with stripey, grayish highlights that resembles a zebra. I want to tone the highlights so they will be more natural and have a softer blend with my base without going too warm. Can a toner do this? Would a light beige blonde toner work (level 8 or 9)?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  6 лет назад

      yes you can do that, I would use a neutral base toner! That way it is less gray but not warm.

      use a toner that is a DEMI permanent instead of a permanent hair color. Demi ONLY deposits color and will not effect your natural base at all! well it can tone the shade of course, but it wont lighten it, ONLY deposit color! Most colors labeled "toner" are demi.

    The stylist used a very blue toner on my blonde hair. I was a 10. And it turned everything so grey with blue in it. She didn't take out none of the toner out. So because she knew I didn't like how it turned out she added brown highlights. And it's not a light brown. Kinda dark but she told me it's kinda like a toner she used for my highlights. So she said with every wash my hair is gonna be lighter and my blonde will come back but it's been 2 days I've been washing it like crazy and I don't see my blonde. All I see is just my brown highlights and my hair looking really really ashy. And the highlights made it worse. Idk what to do I need advice :(

    Excellent video...
    How to go from silver hair to blonde?
    This is my hair history... I have almost black hair, i bleached it to a platinum blonde. then i dyed it violet for about 2 months, at first it faded into a very nice lavender. then i used another hair dye brand and it started to fade into a mint green which i didnt like. i tryed to tone it with a light pink and it result in a light-rose-brown. now that it faded to SILVER GREY, and it looks horrible on me. i want to go back to blonde...
    if i aplly a boxed blonde hair dye, i am afraid it will turn green even if it is a warm blonde as my hair is really grey...
    also, i have very damaged hair and lots of breakagle, i am afraid a dye w developed will fry my hair.
    i would really appreciate your opinion as you seem so experienced!!

      +Lucia Llorens First of all you need to deep condition before you do anything to your hair! without the proper proteins in your hair it won't 1) accept the color correctly 2) the color won't stay in long. After that the best way might be to use a color remover (not bleach) that will gently lift the gray tones off your hair. Then from there you can see what you are working with. Always remember the color wheel, orange cancels out blue, red cancels out green, yellow cancels out purple..BUT..you are right to be careful because what do yellow and blue make??? GREEN! So you can't use a yellowish toner over blue you have to use ORANGE. So the best bet is try to remove the color instead of counter act it. You probably have so much going on your hair isn't sure what color it is. So get some serious protein back in your hair before you do anything to it!! Trust me its worth it to spend a little money to fix your hair! Another way to cover gray is to use the primary colors mixed in even proportions, equal parts red base, yellow base, blue base. This is where it gets tricky, so try the color remover and see if that helps.

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  8 лет назад

      +Christina Westfall The problem was you had two different tones in your hair and they each reacted differently. The blonder pieces that didn't need the toning, took the toner and went ash, where the rest of the hair was mostly neutralized. What you should of done is first covered all the blonde highlights with a gold /red that closely matched the rest of your hair, then everything would of been even.(filling the hair) THEN put the ash color over it. Seems counter productive I know, but without those red/gold tones your hair soaks up the underlying pigment, badda-bing GREEN. These are both color correction situations which require you to treat the different sections differently. This can be very hard to do yourself. But what you need to do is get red back on those greenish gray highlights, to get the warmth back into them. ( use a demi permeant color NOT a permanent) Warm hair is better than green. You don't need to put the red on the reddish brown part because, its already red, which is where it gets tricky. If you can get the green out, THEN you could pick a color to go over the top and the hair should take it more evenly. BUT before you do ANY coloring I would DEEP CONDITION!! You need to fix the porosity of the hair to make it take the color evenly. If you don't get protein back the hair, all your hard work will just wash out. I hope this makes sense and helps you out!

      It could of had a blue or violet tint to it which can slightly help tone but is not near as effective as an actual toner. You can use that toner but just watch it very carefully my suggestion is to do a test strand see how long it takes to process and what shade it goes before you put it all over.

      Since it was a shampoo it might wash it out in a few days, you could try a clarifying shampoo. If you want to darken them, you would have to color it yourself at home to darken them. I would use a demi permanent and use something gold/orange based to counteract the gray.

I've watched RUclips videos and seen that the wella t18 toner would do the job but it didn't. it was a fail on my hair . my hair is grey . what can I do to remove this color . my hair isn't damage much and I was thinking to rebleach it but I don't know if it would help remove the grey😣 it's a disaster.

      T18 is a very strong toner, it can take super quickly. I don't know if you read through the comments but my advice is the same, try washing with a dawn dish soap and clarifying shampoo several times to try and pull some off, you can try a yellow tinted shampoo to gently tone some of the gray, if that doesn't help try a bleach wash, mixing it with water and shampoo. I would do that before bleaching it straight. If that doesn't help you will probably need a color correction from a professional, good luck!

    I just got my hair lightened today. I have virgin hair so I've never done any kind of color treatment to it. My hair naturally is veryyy golden. I went in to get it lightened today and love the outcome, just my ends look a little toooo ashy for my liking and some strands on the lower layer of my hair look grey. Do you think it could fade away in a few days or should I purchase a clarifying shampoo from Sally's? I do like the ash but would like it to be a LITTLE less ashy and more golden and "sunkissed". Will that help my hair get to how I want it to be?

      I would just try washing the ends only and rub in back in forth between your hands, if that doesn't come off in a few washes try the clarifying shampoo but on the ends only, also you can look for a gold toning shampoo and use a tiny bit of that just to neutralize the ash.

    Just got my dark blonde hair foil highlighted at a new salon. I asked for cool toned light blonde. Now that I’m home I see a lot of white/silver that looks terrible. I’ve read lemon juice and deep conditioner with get those parts back to blonde? I reallllly don’t want to call and complain, I feel like there was a miscommunication and I’m not sure what she even did.

      Deni did you watch the video? If so, I’m sorry if the point wasn’t clear. When you ask for cool tones, they use a blue/violet/gray based toner to counteract the warmth. If no warmth is present in the hair, it will take on the tone of the toner. Toners usually wash out on their own pretty quickly. It sounded like she just mis-formulated your toner, some parts lifted higher than others so it took the toner unevenly, or she left it on too long. I haven’t ever done the lemon juice to remove a toner, so I can’t say for sure, but it will lighten your actual hair if you go in the sun... which is where the idea for sun in came from.

    I bought hair extensions to mix into my level 6 Auburn blonde hair. They were a level 10 from the online store, and I couldn’t find any dyes that matched it exactly, so I decided to mix my own. I mixed equal parts level 6 red blonde with level 7 golden blonde, and a small amount of level 7 neutral blonde, as told to me by an employee at sally’s.
    I did a test strand and it looked great, but after putting the rest on, covering them, and walking away, they ended up being a dark lavender. I’m so devastated, and I don’t know how to fix it. They were so expensive, and I feel like I ruined them. I don’t know how to fix it.

      Hannah oh no!! All is not lost! Try using a clarifying shampoo on them. I noticed for whatever reason when dying extensions they go purple a lot! It needs gold! Try a a gold (yellow) enhancing shampoo! Should be enough to tone it out!! Just leave it on till it looks good and if needed do several washes till it tones.

      Amber's Beauty Chair Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. I did a clarifying shampoo which lightened them a tiny bit, but I think I’m going to have to do a bleach bath on them. Some parts were almost burgundy purple, while others were pretty dark lavender. The lavender isn’t budging too much. I’m gonna keep giving it a try, but honestly I might have to bite the bullet and take them into a salon to have them color corrected. Thanks again!

    I have a question. I did the mistake...I am greyish-green and darker than I wanted to be. I always used a color 8 and this time I used 7. What if I want to go back to 8? Will I be even greener or should I use 8 and a red toner?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 лет назад +1

      Brina Šuligoj Color doesn't lift color so your best bet is to use something to strip the color out, I would suggest a clarifying shampoo or repeated washings with dawn soap. It will make your hair feel straw like because it strips everything off it. That is normal though, so make sure you get a good deep conditioner to follow up. Then you tone over the top if you need.

    Would you recommend a toner from wella for me~I just want to add more of a ivory shade to my highlights~I like cool but not the ash so much~my highlights are a pretty blond with a little to much ivory~Thank you~

      +Joyfully_Joy Without seeing your hair it is almost impossible for me to know, you could try white lady from wella, as it is cool toned but not too gray, that would be my best guess.

    So went to the salon today and told my girl that I wanted my hair a little blonder. We talked about cool vs warm toner and decided with warm. After she highlights my hair and does toner, she tells me that she put in a color that is in between ash and neutral blonde. My hair now looks very grey and kind of dry. Not shiny like it normally does. Any suggestions that I can do at home? Or do I have to go back to her to fix? Thank you!!

      I would go back and have her fix it, she should do it at no charge, where you said warm... She should fix it no problem. Just have her consult with the manager or owner on the formula so she gets is correct.

      Had my hair done by the owner just wanted root touch up. Kept telling them I want my roots dark not light. I can see strips of all white where it looks like color didn’t take on roots at all.

      Did you watch all of the video and read through the comments? I think there could be some info there to help. Basically you need to counteract the green/gray with red/orange tones.

    my hair just has a greyish tint is there a way to get some of the toner out without washing it completely out so I don't get the orange tones back again?

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  8 лет назад

      +fob - diehard I would just try a bit of clarifying shampoo just wash it once, and see how it looks, do more as necessary it wouldn't take it back to orange with one wash, plus it should of neutralized it so you should be ok.

    Im so annoyed! I used Wella Colorcharm in t18...and i have freaking green where its supposed to be fabulous pale blonde...Im a level 8 from a bottle...my natural color is dark brown with red. So now what? I cant bleach this out, too damaging! I dont want to go darker either...what can I do to stay away from green happening again? ( other than go to a Professional ) I prefer doing it myself and Im usually very good. Please help!!

      I would try using a color remover shampoo or dawn dish soap it should hopefully wash off in a few days. You could also get some red shampoo and put a couple drops in with your normal shampoo and just wash the parts that are really green. I hope it comes out!

    I bleached my hair and toned it a few weeks ago. Now my hair is white blond and a light yellowish blonde. My question is how to get my hair to a natural light blonde without turning weird colors. Please help and thanks in advance!!

    • @Biceps.and.beauty
      @Biceps.and.beauty  9 лет назад +1

      Charlene Reid I would put a neutral toner over it but do a test strand first. Leave that piece on underneath so you can test the shade before you put it on allover. good luck!

      You just need to tone it out/ counteract with a more golden toner, or use some sort of stripper to pull the gray toner off. There are lots of suggestions in the comments if you had a chance to read through them!
