try using the nexus one as your daily driver for a week and then make a video on it!
like so Jon can see
he actually did i think
+Harsh Vardhan (Vality) check 8bitguy he does such videos
+Techyfy4 yeah but hes OBSOLETE! double meaning that is
I'm so happy you guys dug this video. More coming!
Cool to look back on how far we have come. Excited to see what's next! (Or history, whatever you want to call it :p)
With the new Nexus (or Nexi) phones coming soon, you should make a throwback to all the previous ones before the announcement :D
+Avigyl 'Nexi'.... I thought they were going to call the new ones pixel
Essential EDM since it's just a rumor, I'm still gonna call it Nexus till they officially announce it lel
***** ok, lol
I loved this phone back in 2010. It was a little rough around the edges but it had a fantastic design, a trackball that doubled as a notification led, it was the first phone I ever bought that I felt didn't have many compromises, especially since I bought it for $530 unlocked.
The Nexus One was one of my favorite phones ever. I actually used the trackball quite a bit (great for one hand operation). It just had a good feel and build quality. @TB, thanks for bringing back the good memories.
i had one and absolutely loved it . the track ball was great. kinda like atari missile command
These throwback videos are cool!
+Nicco Caruso glad you like it!!
it's nice to see these kind of videos. Do more . For example when they release the galaxy note everybody criticized and questioned it . Now its a top phone
I'm glad to have been a Nexus One owner. Still have it and it works!
+Kevin Cheng same!!!
Man these retro reviews are so cool, it tells us how far we have come in technology and reminds me of some great tech we have forgotten.
For me, the original Motorola Droid will always have a special place in my heart. My first Android phone coming from the iPhone 3G. I loved the display, the keyboard, built, and just loved everything about it.
I loved my Nexus One, it was one of my favorite phones of all times. Before then I used Windows Mobile phones in Cingular aka AT&T like the 8125 and the 8525. After that purchase I've been Android and never looked back.
+Christopher Adams I lived the 8125!!
Ahh, this really brings me back. Was such a fun time in mobile technology. The OG Droid, all the iPhones of the time etc. Was truly a great time to be alive and watch all of that happen. You should revisit the original Droid, iPhone or iPhone 3GS.
I was part of phone support that was organized for the Nexus One. One of the cool things was that we got to play with final versions of the phone and check out the accessories, and each member of the team were supposed to get one. But that never happened and we all got understandably grumpy heh. The timing is interesting here because just yesterday I came across pictures and sample photos/videos I took with one of the in-house phones. Playing with the then AMAZING filters and all that, haha. I had VERY much intended on being a part of that leak, but I valued my job more than breaking the NDA to release a few pictures on something so close to release.
watching from my Nexus One that I had back in the day , what a feeling!
That was the very first TechnoBuffalo video I ever watch! Because I just picked up the Nexus One at that time and wanted to see how much better it was to the iPhone. I've been a TB subscriber ever since.
This reminded me of my first android device from 5 yrs ago, the Samsung Galaxy Y. To me it meant a lot back then, it was my move to android. I used it as my main, a few months ago since my S3 broke, and let me tell you, I learned how to live without a phone. Tech has come a long way.
I still have my Nexus one. Headphone jack is busted but still functioning. I used it for about 3 years. Love that phone!
A great look at "back in the day"! My Carrier did not have the Nexus One available, but I did get the HTC Desire, in March of 2010. I truly loved that phone.
I cracked my s7 edge and am stuck with an iPhone 5. Absolutely amazed at how far we've advanced just since in my college years!
Videos like this are why i love TechnoBuffalo. Great video Jon well needed nostalgia.
My first nexus was the nexus s4g. I loved that phone! Still have it in my collection to this day.
Loves the throwback... from only 6 and a half years ago. Goddess, we are nostaglic obsessed.
The Htc Desire was my first android phone. It was great to finally hold it in my hands after weeks of reading tests,,browsing forums etc.
I had that phone for almost a year when it was already 3 years old. I loved it.
Love playing with mine every now and then. Used to have a straight talk sim car just to test international phones and would always throw it in the N1 or iPhone 2G and 3G just for nostalgia.
Man I remember the OG Nexus 1. I was one of the 1st people in my area to own one. Was definitely the coolest kid on the block because of that phone lol. I remember going to the stores looking for a case and people would be like what the heck is that? It was soooo futuristic, sleek and awesome and I had dibs on it lol. Definitely made me feel good to have owned such technology. Thanks for this video John.
I remember talking about the N1 like it was the baddest phone around and I felt so proud to have it in my pocket and I still have it laying around somewhere. I can't wait for the next generation of super phones in the next six to seven years from now.
Nexus one was the reason why I loved Android.Kept using it till I got galaxy Nexus and now I'm using Nexus 5.
Two of these just popped up from an old box with gadgets. I forgot how practical they were. Look at it! Gorgeous round lines, no huge "happy to see you" rectangle in your jeans. Built inside a study aluminium frame. The back is removable and ... get this! Are you sitting down? It's NOT made of glass! Genius. Hard-case removable battery! And they even managed to squeeze in an Audio Jack! I KNOW! WTF HOW! That was 2010 people. I want a reboot for this phone as it does everything I can possibly want on the road.
Still using the nexus 0ne since it was launched!, still going strong and its never failed once, only had one change of battery
bought the pixel c tablet a few weeks ago which is kinda cool as pixel brand is the new nexus, holding on to see if there is going to be a pixel 7 inch.
best thing which was mostly over looked was the nexus one car dock, great addition to the phone back then
+TechnoBuffalo Great video!!
I remember this phone so well! My first phone was the HTC Incredible but I had a few friends with the Nexus 1 and I was so jealous of the trackball!! It's fun to look back on these devices and see how far we've come.
I remember the day my Nexus One arrived in the mail and I started using it. Great phone for just 6 years ago. 🙂
Wow! It's amazing how far these have come. This was the first smartphone I bought 8 years ago.
First phone I rooted and flashed Cyanogen Mod to!!! Ahhhh the memories.
This is really cool to look back at phones and maybe other devices.
I wanna see more, this kind of retrospective kind of videos
+Falennor planning on it!
I will be waiting for it :D
I'd like to see from time to time a video like this one. Thank you.
+VanFelo glad hit like it!
I really dig these retro reviews / retrospects. Please do all the nexus phones!
I love these retrospective videos. Reminds me of when I got my first smartphone and experienced the early versions of android.
+CuriousCorduroy that's how I felt making this!
I was 13-14 back when this came out I was rocking an LG Rumor 2 lol my first smartphone was a Nexus S now, that thing, I loved! the display is still pretty crazy love the deep blacks on it.
I love the old tech videos Brotendo !! I remember when I was a senor in highschool back in 2010 this kid had one in Honors Econ class. I didn't think anything of it at the time but now that I'm thinking about it. Seems kinda dope !!
I had this phone, and I loved everything about it! Thanks for taking us back to memory lane Jon! 😀
my very first smartphone. watching this video brings back so much memories :)
Had a nexus one and loved it! Was so sad to see it go. Ended up selling it to a friend for a bberry Z10...aahhh nostalgia
Really cool video! Thanks for taking me down the memory tech lane. Really makes me think!
Glad you enjoyed!
Love this phone design!
I absolutely love these kinds of videos. I think noting some of the benefits/drawback to then/now on smartphones during these recaps would be cool to see as well.
I received HTC Desire (Nexus one cousin) as a birthday gift in 2010. Being a Nokia guy, this phone was very much advanced. I used it for 3 years and then went to Nexus 5. My HTC Desire is still being used by another person.
Like a lot of people have probably said on this comment section. I love the nostalgia this phone brings back. I wanted one so bad I almost switched carriers to get it. Instead I live vicariously through my friend who had one on AT&T. I wanted it so bad. So I just stuck with my OG Droid.
+likerlo11 the og droid was great!
TechnoBuffalo it was still my favorite Android phone to date. I still remember my friends being in awe with their iphones wondering why their phone couldn't do half the things mine could. And I wasn't even rooted yet lol.
I had the original HTC Desire, the "non-Nexus" version of this phone. It was my first Android device and I loved it. There wasn't much space for apps, since Android used to use nonsensical separate partitions, but outside of that it was a great device.
Bought this, when they first came out. Had enough of Apple and the iPhone. I dug up my Nexus One, today, and plugged it in to charge. It's alive! Then I did a search on it, and up came this vid! Used to carry around a spare battery for the thing, cuz the runtime was pretty short. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, as there's pretty much nothing that'll run.
Would love to see more videos like this one. The Nexus One came out right before I started my tech obsession
+K.J. Lambert II planning on it!
I remember that Nexus One well, it was my second Android phone. My first was, well the first Android phone the T-Mobile G1. Still runs good.
I find it rather impressive how little has changed since then. At least at first sight. The biggest step was with the early iPhones and other smartphones. They basically still look and work the same way.
this phone is still beautiful, great review! i loved that little track ball and I would definitly pick on of these up today
love old tech reviews my first smartphone was a Motorola milestone really good video!
I remember it. Had one myself. Loved it at the time
Got mine in July 2010.... and it still works now some 8 years on. My Galaxy Nexus has long since died, along with a Nexus 7 tablet. They don't seem to make things like they used to. My 3 year old Nexus 5 is still holding out tho'.
Loved this phone. I found the trackball pretty useful, used it often.
Cool video guys!!! Nostalgic is the feeling when I used to use an android phone with OS 2.1
awesome video. I think you hit it on the head what "we take for granted". Ahh back when cell phone manufacturers were innovative.
Yeah, my 2K screen really needs an improvement. I only need a 10X microscope to see the pixels. I need to be able to use my phone under a 50X microscope dammit!
I still have my Nexus S and that was like the iPhone killer of the day lol. I go back every now and then just to appreciate how much I loved it, especially the curved screen
+Adel Alqadi that was a great phone. And removable battery!
+Adel Alqadi that was a great phone. And removable battery!
It should be noted that they did release a Nexus One model that did have AT&T 3G bands after the initial release that only has T Mobile bands. Nice look back. I still have my Nexus One
smiling while watching - so refreshing to see this phone again!
I still remember fondly my HTC Desire which was basically Nexus 1 with HTC skin. It still is a beautiful phone.
I had nexus S back in 2011 which was 2nd gen I guess. Gosh I was so excited with the specs when I bought it 😀 . This video brought back those memories
I remember seeing your review of the phone when i first didnt really know about android or smartphones as a whole. That video is what made my buy my first android phone and ive been using them ever since :)
Techno Buffalo's 2010 review's were the best for their time
Cool video. I look forward to the next one!
Man I really wanted this phone back in the day. The hype was real back then. Was jealous that my dad ended getting one instead of me haha
That's cool! Definitely make more videos of this type.
Enjoyed the concept of this video. I would enjoy looking back to previous flagships as well. Great work!
Hehe... it wasn't my daily driver, but I was hired as an Android dev for a single app (became 2-3 apps), and the person who hired me said "here, I read these things are the best Android phone you can get" and gave me a Nexus One for use. So many people went "Holy s***! That's a Nexus One!? How did you get that?" and then they'd try it and be like "it's so much faster then my phone (Android and not-Android). Nostalgia...
"we're still gonna be at the same price point of a £500 to £600 top of the line phone"
Samsung: releases a £1900 phone
2021 checking in. When he said 7 years ago I was like "yeah that makes sense". Then I saw this was made in 2016. Yikes. This was my first google phone and I had the iphone 3g before it. Before that was a sidekick and then flip phones before that. I feel old.
Just looking at old andriod brings back memories
This was my first Nexus phone. It had a magnificent display, only real issue was small internal storage.
man this just takes me back, good times!!
The build quality was unheard off! I would even say on par with iPhone today. But man did I love that phone
Even with all the Apple vs Android battle...everyone can appreciate this. people from both sides. I always wanted this phone.
I'm still using one now. It's still my daily driver!
Omg I had one... still one of my faves of all time
I remember my dad had the g1, my brother wanted this phone, and I wanted an iPhone. So many memories.
Good stuff! This phone is up there with the OG Droid (w/ keyboard) on the nostalgia chart :)
Enjoyed the video, more retrospectives would be awesome.
RIP Nexus and Project ARA
ikr! They better not start calling them Pixel.
NO, Project ARA should have continued!
Austin E At least other companies are going forward. Motorola, LG, etc. Google has also expressed interest in licencing the tech.
More TBs with TB will be nice to watch. Make it a TBT series 👌🏽
I love the throwback. Maybe do a video on the old Windows phones or the original Galaxy S.
He said it didn't have multi touch. It did!!! But it was from an OTA update.
I remember the big news of its release. Remember like it was yesterday. I can't believe it has almost been a decade.
MOAR PHONE THROWBACKS PLEASE!!!
+Eric Reyes done!
Maybe a throwback to the Motorola RAZR V3/V3i?
+
do the G1! the OG Android phone!
I still have a G1...sadly it no longer works :(
DvdXploitr I do too! And it still works great plus I still have the box and even got it unlocked so it can be used a (T-Mobile original) or AT&T.
woah lol TB
+Brandon Watkins does it lag?
Joni Johnson I remember lots of lag when mine did work....even just scrolling thru the app drawer
Google released an AT&T 3G compatible Nexus one later on. I had one shipped to Canada for me and I didn't like it at first until I got the froyo update. Was a phone way ahead of competition and was worth the money spent.
I wanted one of these, but I had just gotten a Droid. Can't say I really regret that choice. I wouldn't be shocked if the camera on that thing still rivals mid-range phones today.
I had the Nexus S, which was like the most amazing thing ever (even though I got it when the Galaxy S2 was close to release)
I loved my Nexus One. It was one of the best phones that I've owned.
the Nexus one is the phone that changed my mobile life forever. became a Google fan boy that day on. never used a non nexus device besides a moto x pure for a little bit. on my Nexus 6p until the new one drops in October.
loved my Nexus
This phone was my first android experience and it was great back then.
Nexus one My first smart love! I gave it away two years ago and although it stopped working I still regret letting it go! I love you Nexie, I so much do! I hope you'll someday forgive me for giving you away!
Love this style of video Jon!!! My vote is definitely in favour of more retrospectives! :)
I love my Nexus 5X and Verizon LTE Advanced. Very speedy.
