This is the best 33 and 35 video you can't any clearer than that. I own a Silverado, wish someone did something like this for a Silverado.
Thanks for the feedback! Would love to see videos like this for all truck brands
"it's gonna cost ya less later when you party too hard" facts 💯
K10 Couple 💯💯💯
2.5 or 3" and the biggest tires you can fit is what is always recommended by most. Great video bro
Thanks! That’s what I’ve also gathered from my research
35’s!!!! Woot!!!! Your going to love the re-gear!!! Going to feel like a new truck again. Going up hills and stuff will be a lot easier.
Can’t wait! 🙌🏻
Good advice when wheeling. You have gained wisdom through experience and shared it. Thanks for the insight 👍.
Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
LOVE that you actually offroad. Thanks brother. Going look at those body plates…..
Thanks for watching 👏🏻
Dustin, your advice is spot on; this video was awesome and executed with total precision.
Excellent advice & great ending. As a brand new overlander with 0 mechanical knowledge or skill, the end of your vid let me know what I might need & what might happen. Thank you!
Not a problem hope this video helps with your builds
What up Dirt! Don't forget spindle gussets. And check out Marlin Crawler LCA gusset set and never worry about those alignment tabs again.
Got Total chaos spindle gussets and cam gussets in my possession putting those in when we do the regear 🤙🏻
@@66Duffman Damn! The taco is gonna be the beast of beasts!
Can’t wait 😩
Listening to every word hope to build a new tacoma in the future, thanks
Not a problem glad you enjoyed 🤙🏻
I too hate my neighbors cleaning their damn yard while im trying to record a vid LOL
RUclipsr struggles 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
This is the only reason I’m jealous of Jeeps, fitting bigger tires is a breeze when compared to Tacos
I agree... some jeeps clear 35s on stock suspension 🤦🏻♂️
Same with 4Runners. Have to chop the body mount just to run a 33... lame!! It takes less work to run 37s on a JL, lol.
Check out Marlin Crawler RCLTHD if you want larger than a 35. They aren’t in production yet, but that is what my plan to do. With that system you can put 35’s on without cutting.
Downside will be the cost.
Thanks for the info 🤙🏻
Great Job Dustin!! Thanks for the Taco insight brutha!
Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Now will you PLEASE remove the chrome Tacoma door emblems? Do it for me man! 😢
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 when I do I’ll shout you out brotha 🙌🏻
@@66Duffman Your a great man!
They're cool tho! They work with his build lol
Big Mike at Marlin Crawler has a IFS Tacoma on 40's.
That’s true...his truck is a beast
I live near Fresno, seen his truck in real life at Marlin. It's f'in nuts.
I hope to one day crawl as slow as him 🤣
He didn't stop at chopping the body mount. He actually removed and replaced a section of the firewall/floorboards on both sides.
I just upgraded my suspension/lift on my trd off road. Went with the 3” ready lift with bilstein 6112’s/5100’s on the rear. I currently run 33’s but since doing a full 3” lift the stance is begging for 35’s lol. I want to do a cab mount relocation with a bumper cut but I can’t find anyone in the Philadelphia area that does that kind of work 😕.
That’s rough…we’re fortunate in Cali to have a lot of people that do that work…best of luck 👏🏻
Your mileage is a little off now because of your larger tires. You could re-calibrate it or just calculate it yourself using your phone for mileage and dividing it by the number of gallons you use.
I take it you never got the Thunder Ranger series A/Tr tires. I watched your final review on the Thunder Trac Grip M/T's and you said you thought you were and going to review them. Might be I just can't find it. let me know please. I have subscribed and like what you do. Thanks
With your lift did you have to replace your driver needle bearing in the CV axle? with a clamshell bushing? I've heard anything over 2.5" it can cause the stock bearing to fail. Great setup though and videos keep it up!!
Never replaced the needle bear but I do know your supposed to...haven’t had an issue yet but it’s something to consider
Great Video, nice detail, thank you!
So you decided not to run the thunderer ATR? Too bad, when you mentioned that I was really looking forward to that review, I'm eyeing a set of these for my 4Runner but I can't find any info on them.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and be the guinea pig, make my own video! LOL
Still may be reviewing the ATR in the near future....but don’t wanna ruin the surprise 🤫🤫🤫
@@66Duffman excellent! I can't wait!
Love your videos by the way!
I know 35 is the magic number. But, milestar makes a 295-70-17. It's a 34. Well very close to 34. That's what I have on my FJ. Works for me. Gold mountain was no problem for me. Icon suspension and a body chop. That's it. No rub even at full lockers and flex. Just another option.
ok so only because you mentioned it lol. Theres a 3rd gen taco on 40s and another on 37s on IG.
Have you thought about chopping the body mount and adding a relocate bracket? Would probably eliminate your full turn reverse rub.
If your mounting an ARB compressor inside your engine bay I have an extra RAGO fabrication arb double compressor mounting bracket I would love to sell to you. It mounts a compressor beautifully above the fuse box
Shoot us an email
Are you worried any about the front locker on ifs? I’ve never tried it, but Ive heard it is the best way to snap axles or cv joints
The Colorado has front 🔐 locking differential and has front independent suspension.
I do have concerns but I’m committed to using the front locker only when I have to to keep it safe 🤙🏻
Your right but Colorado’s do also break tie rods fairly easily which is why Chevy sells the tie rod sleeves as an upgrade
Dirtnation Offroad ohh shoot, I had no idea! Well you guys do have the right idea though, and front lockers are still badass asf!
I was at the bottom of hells gate in my 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport with no lockers, just a 2.5” Bilstein lift on 33’s and broken wheel sensor, so no traction control which means I could do burn outs with out the computer applying brakes to the wheels. I was getting ready to see if I could climb that bitch When I see some youngster almost crying and sitting on the ground next to his brand new ZR2 and a broken tie rod in his hand. I was like shit I hope that doesn’t happen to me half way up the obstacle.
It took me like 4 try’s on different lines to make it up, but I was so freaking excited I didn’t break anything and still made it!
Your spedo is way off unless you recalibrated which means your fuel mileage should be alot better than indicated.
Good to know I’ll have to recalibrate after the regear
might be a dumb question, but why the add a leaf, if the ome set comes with the new leaf springs?
I didn’t buy the set…only the front shocks for OME
Nice video with good info. I am going to be buying a Tacoma within the next year and plan on doing a 3 in lift with 33s. I really wanted to do a 6in lift and 35s but just couldn't see chopping up a brand new truck. Your smart to get the 5.29 gears with those 35s. Did you have to extend your brake lines with your lift kit?
Good choice for the new truck....33 are a great option for new Tacoma owners...as for the brake lines I did extend the rear when I first lifted the truck...good call out
You don’t NEED to add that weld on plate.
I'm curious with wheel why not get a -12 offset with the 17x9 wheel Vs wheel spacers?
I don’t think they had them at the time 🙏🏻
How do you take care of the odometer and speedometer issue when getting bigger tires?? That’s really my biggest concern with dealing with the dealer servicing and all that how do you keep the odometer correct??
You’ll need to get a tune a recalibrate the speedo..we’ll have a video on that soon
You said you use a 1.25 wheel spacer with a zero offset rim.. Can you use a negative offset wheel to accomplish this?
Theoretically yes
I love the channel and your tacoma! 1 question, did you get a 35 spare under there and how?
My '06 got a Free new frame 2 summers back and I had them put on OME 883 springs w/5100's (I'm not sure where they are set-lame I know) and have the LR UCA's stock LCA.
In rear is a HeadStrong AAL.
Finally my wheel budget filled and now I have SCS F5's in 17x9 -38 offset waiting..... to be wrapped in something..... as soon as my "new tire fund" fills up.
And I know I have to get the cab mount chopped or relocated...
Thoughts on this set up - as in - should it clear most of the time?
Thanks, your video was great.
How did the mileage change after the regear? I’m trying to decide if I do 35’s, already regeared mine for the 33’s but I over geared it a bit so 35’s would bring my RPM’s down more to where I want them just not sure.
After the regear with 35s mileage dropped to about 13-14 on average
@@66Duffman youre getting that mpg from the computer?
Nice little video of how not to remove your fender liner. That guy gives no shits about your truck lol
🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I dont even care about my truck...have you seen our videos?
I’ve got a set of 5100s all around and the cab mount relocation and planning on going for 35s, on paper I feel like everything should clear after some trimming. Any advice?
On paper it does sound like all will clear...you’ll just have to see it’ll depend on the wheels your using and the spring rate if the front coils on your 5100s
Not rubbing on the top of your fenders?
No there’s alot of rubbing especially after taking off the sway bar
Thx for the video. I got the Ray 10 17" wheels with -38 mm offset. Do you think that will help prevent rubbing? I'm debating between 305 and 315 tires.
You can do 285/75r17 it’s a 34” tire
I gave this some thought to but leaning towards more width with the 305 compared to the 285/75. Might roll the dice with the 305.
305 is a 32”, 315 is a 34.5”
lukestoyz not the 305/70/17 it’s closer to 33.8”
Will the 35’s fit in the rear with a 3 inch block?
Yeah it definitely would…should even clear with a 2 inch block
Is the added inch in ground clearance worth all this trouble?
It’s more that an inch if clearance...and I’d say it’s definitely worth the trouble if you offroad like we do
I wheel my 08 ram pretty hard core and every inch count's bro. (Signal peak) the (harder) way bro bro in my stock
Nice man, Tks. Would be nice to have pics of your inner fender ( insta maybe )
François Lataste I can do that
did you go to bigger rotors?
Came here looking for a budget lift only to find out there's already a 3" OME lift kit installed... So, fitting 35's on a budget, if there's a 3" lift already installed, lol.....
Are those wheels heavy without the tires?
Not too heavy...don’t know exact specs tho
Any broken part so far??
Broke a CV axle once after installing the front locker
🤦🏽
Agreed
Dustin, your advice is spot on; this video was awesome and executed with total precision.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Do you have alignment issues?
I sure do...not from 35s but my cam gussets are bent...replacing them soon
