So I worked a plan with family. No rent and sent $2000 a month to debt until it was paid off. Then saved for down payment for a house. I cashed out my college saving plan for my niece to pay for a used car cash. (secret, don't tell anyone). And I was not taken seriously by car dealerships. I said no to trips, worked two jobs. Put up with depression. BUT once I was finished paying off everything and moved in to my house, I was so happy.

Good job! It took me over 6 years. I will be completely debt free in 2024 . BUT. I had to increase my income (changed jobs twice, making 40k more now) to accomplish my goal, I am a single mom of two, I did it with one simgle job and last year I decided something got to give and we went on vacations again, bought some furniture etc (100% cash paid). I could have done it in less time, I guess, but I also needed the time to build a better relationship with money. Oh, and technically I have the money to pay off the rest of my debt in my Savings account. But the loan is less than 3% interest and I sleep easier knowing I have 3 months expenses saved.
Anyways, debt is gone soon and I am so glad when I close the loan 🎉 Debt sucks.

If you pay off a debt, it falls off quickly now it falls off quickly now on your credit report. Usually by the next reporting cycle. A person would want to keep an eye on it. Great work! Student loans paid off in 2019. Paid for my car in cash. I’m retired.

Can you do more accounting videos! I am a sophomore finance major that really wants to pursue a career in accounting. Sadly my parents discourage it but it is what I enjoy doing!

Awesome job n the debt paydown.I was hitting the door trying to pay down credit card debt. I joined my husband company teaching me about taxes and putting back $15000 per year back in my pocket correcting my taxes and things i didn't know about as i use to being a tax preparer and having home based business. I stay with the company teaching others as well using debt tool to get it down and investing and hopefully i will become a millionaire as many others are doing with the company and as my husband is almost there. Love the top it is gorgeous .

I have paid debt off several times but always find myself in more debt again and I know it's my spending habits. I love to shop and travel and those things are costly I really need to stop shopping, cook my food at home,no traveling for awhile until, I pay my debts I'm only making minimum payments and that gets you no where. I spend so much on Amazon, restaurants and traveling I gotta stop and create a budget afterwards for travel and shopping this was really enlightening and helpful.

Greetings Lisa. You are not alone. I am the EXACT SAME WAY. I am tired of this spinning wheel. I am in between "stable" (basic 40 hour s week job) employment and can barely keep up with my bills. I plan to find "secure" (40 hour a week job) employment by the end of the month. I am about to enter my 40's and want to be debt free! Thank you for your truth and transparency!

I personally try to think of paying into my savings as a form of spending that excites me. Ally Bank has an option to make buckets, so you can put your money towards specific things.
And in my IRA, you can invest the money, and buy index funds and ETFs, so you're literally buying something
It's definitely an adjustment but this may help it stick

When I hit 42,000 in debt three years ago I knew I needed to learn a new skill so I picked up video editing and for two years I was only doing minimum payments to keep afloat and once I started getting clients for editing I finally started to snowball all my debt. I’m officially debt free! It took two years to develop the skill but mannnn I’m so glad I didn’t wait for it.
