I paid my home off at age 48 making less than $60,000 a year being a single mom with 2 kids. It has been a huge relief.
That is awesome!
That is a great achievement. Amazing. Well done
Incredible achievement 🎉 now just don’t fall into the trap of thinking bigger is better as the kids grow. It’s not ! Kids move on too. So keep it simple and enjoy your incredible achievement every day in every year 😊
Amazing 🤩 congrats
Booooooom ❗💥
Wow! Congratulations! Yes, I have been watching for some years and wondering how you were doing with the payoff! Yay!! Well done!
Gail, thank you so much! Also, thank you for always being so supportive.
Congratulations!
Thank you so much, Natalie! 🤗
I have built up quite a bit of credit debt in different forms. I strongly suspect i have ADHD & can be impulsive. I have been working part time & not earning enough to cover outgoings. I start a new job tomorrow which is full time & a better rate of pay. Although initially just a one year contract. I have car & house insurance renewals coming up in a month. After the first couple of months i want to start paying down some of my debts, and putting money to one side as savings/rainy day buffer, in case the car needs replacing, or my contract doesnt get renewed & have to find a new job. Your videos will help strengthen my resolve. Thank you
Natalie, you can do this! Congratulations on the new job! I hope you have a wonderful first week 🤗
Congratulations Jennifer 🎉 so happy you reached your goal 🥳
Thank you so much! Hugs 🤗
Congratulations! 🎉 We have been able to pay an extra 1/12 mortgage payment each month so far this year. What are your thoughts about balancing a bit of a lifestyle increase with putting even more towards a mortgage? FOMO vs reaching debt freedom more quickly? We have about 11 years left on our mortgage as of now, so delaying gratification (even slight) for another 10-11 years seems like it’s not worth it.
#5 just keep marketplace to sell stuff😊
#6 I love parenting myself
Yay! Congratulations!!!
Thank you!!
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you 🤗
Good job
I retired at 62 with only $600k saved up, and looking back, I see some things I might've done differently. I didn’t really focus on saving and contributing enough or paying off my house early, which might’ve made retirement a bit easier, especially with inflation eating into my nest-egg. Not saying it’s the only way to do things, but it’s something I think about
I'm approaching retirement and having a financial advisor has been helpful. I started investing later than most, so relying on compound interest from index funds or bonds alone wasn’t enough for me. Despite that, I’ve managed to do well and am on track to retire with around $5 million
I'm worried about my retirement portfolio and could use some guidance. How can I get in touch with your advisor?
I usually avoid making specific recommendations because everyone's situation is unique. However, my experience with Emily Ava Milligan has been quite positive. You might find it worthwhile to see if her approach fits your needs
I looked for the name online and found her page. I emailed and made inquiries. Thanks for the help
Great video! I paid off my home in 2019. One Friday, I had gotten paid and I had nothing I could pay on. I was so happy, I cried.
Amazing!
Congratulations 🎉my grandfather said stand on your lawn bare feet the grass feels better with a paid off house. We are debt free it feels great my husband retired at 55 and I quit my job as a teacher at 50 so much freedom with no debt.
Is your grandfather Dave Ramsey? L O L, he says the same thing! 😂
SO TRUE !!!
Debbie, thank you so much for your years as a teacher!
Oh I do dream of an early retirement- 2 more years to go!
It’s the best feeling in the world to have that peace of mind and freed up funds! Paid our 15yr 2.87% mortgage off in 7 yrs. Don’t care what financial experts say about keeping a low interest rate , stability and financial freedom beats a mortgage every time!
You are absolutely right! The peace of not having it around is what we wanted.
Congratulations! Good job! 🥇🏆💰💯 Late to the party but paid my house off and became debt free at 69 years old.
Congrats ! What a relief 🙏🏼
A big congratulations to you!!
Congratulations! My husband and I paid off our (second)
15 year mortgage in less than 8 years 🎉
Best feeling!
That is awesome!
Mortgage will be gone christmas next year for us, 6 years early. No car payments, no other debt. Congratulations from the Uk
Fantastic!
@@DAL201107 that was kind of rude wasn't it?
Kathy, that comment left by that viewer was very rude and disrespectful towards Theresa. That is why it is gone. I appreciate you calling it out. Whenever I catch something like that, I remove them.
When we paid off our last vehicle we started a vehicle account saving that same amount of $ each month so when another vehicle needed we can pay cash. We are senior citizens and we're debt free before we retired. Congratulations to being debt free! Such awesome freedom 😊
Ohhhhhhh this is such a good idea !!!! Thank you for sharing !!!
I paid off my remaining $328k mortgage during the start of pandemic in October 2020, last payment made in December 2022. Best decision I have ever made. Now at 51.5YO, family of 4, home and rentals all paid off with no debt whatsoever 😊
That is awesome!
Appreciate that.
What’s your take home pay monthly?
$15k+
Wow, you the man! Best decision ever. 😎
This video is so inspiring! I started Dave Ramsey’s baby steps in January. We’re still on baby step 2 (pay off debt except house), but in predicting where we’re at, we will pay off our mortgage in 5 years (18 years early!!!!!!)🎉 thank you for posting this video, it does help to see that it’s possible!
Awesome!
This is fantastic! Stick with it and stay focused. You can definitely do this! Hugs ❤️🤗
I’m on baby steps 4,5 and 6 and it feels great. Keep at it. There is nothing like the feeling of debt free. I am hoping to pay off my home in 4-5 yrs or less. Unexpected bills are no longer emergencies but just minor inconveniences and we cash flow what we need. There is no feeling like it.
Never saw this coming. But I've never slept better after paying off our home in February.
Agree 💯 on the social media aspect. I deleted my Facebook & Twitter account 4 years ago because I realized the harm it was doing to my mental health
Same! Right around the pandemic time, I had enough. Don’t miss it a bit!
My therapist recommends against FB as she says it's "shallow relationships screaming at you like a two year old throwing a tantrum." It served a purpose at first, connecting to family, but FB contributed to my stagnation after a significant life event. Family that wants to stay in touch now uses my phone number to text. I have the birthdays of those with whom I am close, and send them real birthday cards every year. The cards keep me busy and are much more real than a meme posted on FB.
Amy, thank you for adding this! It is an important topic. Hugs 🤗
I deactivated Facebook in December, hadn’t missed it, my mental was much better. I still have IG and TikTok but those don’t take nearly as much time as Facebook did. I reactivated yesterday for my birthday…I scrolled for a few minutes here and there and literally just deactivated a few moments ago.
We are debt free too. After my hubby was diagnosed with lymphoma stage 4 in 2019, he aggressively worked on paying our house off when he went into remission. I struggle with spending but he helps me see the bigger picture. Recently found your youtube videos and have been listening.
My husband and I will be done paying our mortgage off in 7 more years. This will be 21 years early on our 30 year mortgage. We will be in our late 30s/early 40s. I’m excited to 100% debt free.
That is amazing 🤗
Congrats, we also are debt-free (in Jan.) We paid off our farm (after 15 yrs :)
Congratulations!!!!! ❤️
What was your mortgage total? I couldn’t find that information
I deleted all my social media, only left RUclips is my platform ❤️. I don’t want any distractions and wasting my time 👌
We just paid off mortgage. Long term goal. Finally achieved. We followed Dave Ramsey. He has detractors, but was good for us.
That is awesome!!!! Congratulations 🤗 ❤️ YES!!!!
Paid off my home in 5 years. Then saved 5 years of expenses, insurance, and taxes in a high yield savings account as my emergency fund. Now I place 70% of my paycheck in savings and live off 30%
Fantastic!
That's so awesome and encouraging!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow, way to go!
Congrats! I dreamed and worked for it for 10 years! Paid in full 2021. We are highly allergic to debt. 😂🎉🎉
That is awesome!
I like that saying. I'm also highly allergic to debt!
So encouraging to read all these comments. Paying off the mortgage early is not easy!
You all should pat yourselves on the back. Well done!
CONGRATULATIONS. Enjoy this wonderful feeling, freedom and pure joy. Sparkle big time in the knowledge of oweing not a penny to anyone, there's really nothing like it and through hard work, frugality and wise choices, you and your husband have achieved this huge goal......so happy for you.
Larrissa, thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Congratulations!! So happy for you! We too are debt free. It's a wonderful feeling!!
Hello ladies, can wait in the next few years be in the same place as you. Mortgage Debt Free!!!!
I got a pay rise of almost $10,000/year more about 1,5 years ago.
Instead of spending more now I just save more! Frugal forever!
Congratulations! Paying off your house is a huge financial milestone.
Yes! Thank you!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen more positive comments on a RUclips channel, ever! That’s something to be proud of too! So glad to follow you and these positive vibes :)
Thank you! 🤗
I'm aiming to pay off my mortgage. Being frugal sharpens the wits and keeps you fit and encourages you to learn new things.
Yes, it’s learning new ideas and finding new skills, realizing that you have skills, ideas and creativity you didn’t think you had that is so rewarding. The money you save is kinda nice, too 😉
WELCOME TO THE CLUB! We celebrated in March (Pi day). Congratulations!!🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations!
I am sooooooo happy for you and your family. You have educated many people of all income levels and ages. The main takeaway that you have always conveyed is that it’s never too late. Don’t give up. Debt is a prison. I have watched your videos from the beginning and have watched in anticipation for this day. Congratulations Jennifer!!!!
Judi, thank you so much! You made me smile 🤗
Congrats on getting to pay it off.....😊😊😊
Thank you!!!! 🤗 ❤️
This is amazing!!! 🎉🤩💜 My husband and I didn’t make wise choices with our money in the first 10 years of marriage and we’ve racked up a good chunk of debt. We finally hit the end of the line this year, where our mindset has changed and we are working to pay it off. This is why I found your channel, so I want to thank you for sharing and being so encouraging!
Rachel, you can do this! It is possible! You can do this!
You can do it too Rachel! Stay strong! 😊
Congratulations!!! We are on track to have our mortgage paid off in December 2026…19 years early! It will be the best Christmas present ever! The only other debt we will have is our car and paying it off will be our next goal.
When the time comes and we make that final payment, there are very few people in our circle who we will tell. You would think that family members would be happy for you and not jealous! Nope, not the case. They all like to say (sarcastically) “it must be nice!” My answer to them from here on out will be “yes, it sure is!”
Lisa, I am so excited for you! Make sure to let me know when it happens. I will celebrate with you 🤗
I am happy for you :)
I live in Europe and I am stunned by Americans and their weird obsession with owning huge houses. I constantly hear that a 70-square-meter house is considered tiny in the USA. In many European countries, people are raising families in 70, 60, or even 50 -square-meter houses/flats, and not because they are broke. Taking up a mortgage on a smaller house will be paid off sooner. I never understood the big house mania. I think this contributes a lot to having ppl struggling with their finances. Many who buy a huge house end up not even using it plus I think they buy it for others, to show off, and if that is the case we are dealing with a serious value system issue. I can't imagine living for others. Also if someone looks up to someone just because that person owns (..well actually the bank owns...) a huge house I am not sure how good that friend is. The same goes to cars, here in Europe we don't change the cars every 5 yrs and we are perfectly fine with buying a used car if that is in perfect condition.
Omg!!! I'm soooo happy for you!! This gives me hope
Kelly, hope is a wonderful motivator. Hugs 🤗
Our house payment is only 10% of our take home income and staying debt free allows us to put away 50% of our earnings. We don’t do vacations or new electronics we buy used cars paying cash and just stay frugal. We always pay $100-200 extra and now my husband finally got the raise we’re going to be able to have the house paid off in just short of three years minus needing to save 100k to fix up my grandparents house when the time comes to buy it so that’s just a side thing.
We paid off our thirty-year mortgage in 13 years. We are debt-free and feel great relief. 🙌 Thank you for your message.
That is wonderful! Congratulations 🤗
Congratulations, some really good tips in this video. I’m still 12.5 years away but have overpaid £105,000 over the years so aiming to be mortgage free by 52.
You can do it!
Congratulations, I am working on paying my mortgage, you are inspirational
You can do it!
Just 6 months from paying of mortgage the all the money that was going into mortgage will go toward index funds and other investments.
That is amazing!!!
I’m so torn between expediting my mortgage payoff and catch up on my retirement/investments from a late start. In the event of an emergency, I can liquidate and payoff the mortgage balance if i absolutely had to with no other choice, but why would I if I don’t need to and sacrifice that compounding return?
Congratulations!! You're just beginning to know how it feels each morning knowing you have one less thing hanging over your head so you can enjoy your family and life even more. We paid off our first home in just over 12 years. We then purchased a second home for a family member and paid it off in 7.5 years. Recently we gave another family member a portion of our land and now have family next door! You only need to be a conscious consumer with precise goals to save for the dreams. This was done on one income.
Greta, this is amazing! Thank you for sharing this 🤗
Wow so impressive!
I’m a few months away from paying off mine! I can’t wait! Congratulations to you for achieving your goal 🥳
I paid off the mortgage for my first apartment in 6 years. I was 37 and single mom with 1 kid. Hoping to pay off our current one in a similar amount of time. It's easier than most people realize. You just need to plan for it
Congratulations!!!! such a big achievement Jennifer! We started following Dave Ramsey baby steps 3 years ago, went all in, paid off our house 5 years in advance. It was a game changer, and I want to thank you for your kind support to all of us through your channel . It is doable, and it changes your mindset.
Victoria! That is fantastic! Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Congratulations on making it to baby step #7!!! You are a great inspiration. My goal is to complete baby step #3. In a few weeks I'll be 43% complete of this goal! You are speaking the truth about avoiding toxic content and learning how to be content. Great video.
Fantastic!
I found your channel during the pandemic and heard about your mortgage free goal. It didn’t occur to me to try and pay off my mortgage quicker. I have been working on paying extra on my mortgage since 2020 thanks to you! Congratulations on your major milestone 🎉
Thank you so much for sharing this with me! Hugs 🤗
Congratulations! That's a Brilliant accomplishment and major milestone. 🎉🙏🙌🎉🎊❤
Jennifer, thank you so much! Hugs 🤗
Congratulations on getting this done ❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Thank you so much!!!
One extra mortgage payment knocks off 7 years of a 30 year mortgage! 2 payments knock off 14 years.
Jodie, that is better than I thought! Wow, what a difference 🤗
So helpful! Thank you for breaking the math down
So happy for you Jen!!!! Nothing like it!
Exactly! Thank you so much!
Thank you Jen for the great video! This video came at the right time for me when my financial self discipline was wavering a bit! The want for a bigger house, bigger car was playing on me. Your video was the reality check I needed at this point in time! Thank you Universe for driving sense via Jen 😊
Great video ❤congratulations!
I have been following you for years and has been patiently waiting for this moment. Congratulation, I am soooo proud of you and your husband! Job well done...
Awww.. Thank you so much for your support! Hugs 🤗
Congratulations!! Financial Freedom!!!
Yes!!! 🤗
I have 2 years until I retire and want to pay off > $20000 in credit card debt before then. The sooner the better!!! Thank you for your expertise!
Man these pieces of advice are so so good 💯
Congratulations to you and your husband! The feeling is indescribable! Also, I think your daughter is old enough to see what you and your husband did through perseverance.....what a wonderful lesson for her!
Lana, you are absolutely right! For the last several years, she has colored in the lines of our house payoff tracker. She was thrilled to color in the last line. ❤️🤗
I see the statistic a lot in my real estate career that 40% of homes don't have a mortgage. I don't know what percentage of those are owned by people who use the property as their primary residence, but I would guess it's high.
Congratulations on paying off your mortgage! What an accomplishment. This is so encouraging to me!
Thank you! ❤️🤗
I paid off the last $100,000.00 in January in 3 years. Thats $33,000.00 a year. I did it alone on $85,000.00 gross per year. My household bills were pared down to only $1200.00 per month during pay off. Now I pay the land taxes myself so the monthly bills are $1500.00 total. I now have lots of sinking funds, an emergency fund and investments.
That is awesome!
Yeah!!!! Congratulations it’s awesome it’s been years that my house has been paid off. Don’t know how other people can afford a mortgage or rent even though we still have to pay property taxes and home insurance plus HOA but im very thankful with God without him nothing is possible ❤
Paid off our mortgage 5 years ago, it’s a great feeling! Congratulations
That is awesome!
Massive contratulations to you and your family Jennifer!! We paid off our first mortgage in 11-12 years and we've never had a mortgage (or any other debt) since then despite the fact that we've moved several times since then. It's is pure gold to be totally debt free!!! Is your next step early retirement??? My hubby and I both retired in our early 50's!
I DID NOT pay off my 3.25 % 15 year mortgage. Instead invested those funds and have increased my 401(k) exponentially at an average 8%+ return, (last year WAY higher) resulting in much more than would have made sense to debt service the 3.25%. I think it is wonderful you have a paid in full home, but I simply don't see it as some great financial accomplishment when the market has been riding so high. We are fully debt free other than the mortgage which will be paid off shortly BECAUSE of well-managed investments that have more than tripled . I try to laud your method, while questioning as well. I personally think this is a short-sighted approach. But obviously - to each his own.
Unfortunately, if you live in California where average decent home prices are over a million dollars…it’s harder. 6-700k for a home is dirt cheap.
Congratulations, Jennifer !!! It’s hard work and much self discipline, we know as our home will be paid off this month. We will be debt free this month. Your home looks beautiful, Jennifer!😊
Congratulations! That is awesome!
You all have me so fired up. OK, so where can I learn about how to pay off my mortgage faster? And what about my 100k in student loans? Any tips? New to the channel.
Courtney, the book that started my journey is the one I will always recommend. Love Your Life Not Theirs by Rachel Cruz. You can do this!
Hi, Jennifer. Just catching up on some of your videos. Congratulations! You and your husband must be thrilled, well done! May I say you look very pretty in white, and I love your haircut, very flattering. 😊 Thanks for the great savings tips and for all your encouragement. Even though I am retired and have no debt, I can certainly do better in the savings department. God bless!
Antonia, thank you so much!
Way off topic but I want to say thank you for all your videos 1-1-2024 i owed 5045 on my motorcycle loan right now I owe 1400 going frugal has helped me lots next is my car thank you
That is fantastic! Great job 🤗
You can hear the joy and tiny smidge of disbelief in your voice! I love this for you, what a gift to yourself, your family and daughter. I hope you are so so proud of your massive achievement! xx
🤗
Wow... I can only imagine! I do not own a mortgage yet. I am not sure whether I should buy in this market and if I do I would definitely make that a Goal to pay it in 6 years 😊
🤗
All you people talk about is money, money, money. If you die now, that will be meaningless and so will you. Stop being fixated on money and enjoy life while you have it. Somebody else will enjoy the money that you try to store.
Why are you watching videos about saving money if those are your thoughts?
I’m so proud of you! What an amazing accomplishment! So, what’s next for you?
Hi Dawn, Thank you so much! What's next??? We have a car that will be ready for replacement soon.
I'm doing Dave ramseys baby steps now! Almost debt free!! Congrats to u!!
Congratulations 🎊🎉!!! I’m trying to get an emergency fund together. I’m on a fixed income and it is not that easy. I’m living 150% under poverty line. I am trying hard to lower my bills in order to save $. I have 200$ so far and another 200 soon. I smoke.trying to quit.that’s hard too. I know that is where my $ goes and amazon. I have no debt no car no credit cards
You can do it!
Congratulations!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Hope you went out in the backyard barefoot to see how different the grass feels, now that it's ALL YOURS.❤
Lori, I certainly looked at the house and let out a big sigh with an even bigger smile! 🤗
Congratulations . Your hard work has paid off finally . Well done . Enjoy debt freedom x
Thanks so much! 😊
Congratulations 🎊!
Thank you so much! Hugs 🤗
WOW, that is so Great!!! Congrats!!! Love this video!! So happy for you guys!!! We have over 52,000 left and it is one of the hardest things we have ever tried to accomplish. We are hoping it will take 7 to 9 months more which seems forever when you have been working on it for so long. Thank you for all your encouragement 😊 Sher.
Sher, it will absolutely happen! When it gets down to those numbers, it starts to feel harder because the finish line is so close that you just want to get there already. You can do this! 🤗❤️
@@THEJENNIFERCOOK Thank you Jennifer so much for the pep talk i need it!!! ☺
Terrific accomplishment! Congratulations!!!Thank you for sharing the news and for the wise words. I appreciate your style in how you share the great content of your channel. I aspire to own my home and want to focus on that. Continued blessings to you and your family. 💐👏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽💗 Gracias.
Thank you so much! Hugs ❤️🤗
Loved the advice here. Live frugally and not to have a "keep up with the Joneses" mentality. At the end of the day, no one cares that you drive a luxury or latest model car.
Congratulations! If we had stayed in our house up North, it would have been paid off. My husband wanted to retire down South, then we got into the 2008 financial mess, he passed away 6 years ago and I'm stuck with a huge mortgage now. At my age, I still want to make a dent in that mortgage. I refinanced 2 years ago and now I feel I can't move and trade in my 3.9 mortgage for an 7% one. But, the more I pay, the more that's left to my Granddaughters, so I'm trying my best.
Stay positive! You can do this 🤗
Maybe think about 1) renting that house and rent a smaller place or a room to live in, 2) getting a paying roommate to help pay off that mortgage. Responsible renters appreciate a safe place to live.
@@lunallena5594 Thank you for the tips. I live in a tourist area and HOA neighborhood. My son and granddaughter live with me, so all of the rooms are full. HOA prohibits renting in this section for less than a year. Last time I saw renters in my neighborhood, the Sheriff showed up to get them out. But, I'm not giving up.😁
@@gerigowers8318 Well, something else good will come along.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉
We paid off our home March 2020. One week later and everything was shut down. We are debt free still. It’s a wonderful feeling. Planning to retire when the last one goes off to college in 3 years (I’ll be 54)
No better feeling and acomplishment , the fruits of sacrifice .
Congratulations!
Thank you, Kelly!
I want financial independence for my husband and myself. This is something that I was never taught as a child even later in my life. And I also want money. So I don't have to worry about upcoming emergencies. Or things that I would like to have a second hand car is fine with me as long as it doesn't need costly repairs ,that looks good and that it's good for the long run.
Financial independence.
Doesn’t it take that heavy weight off your shoulders!!! Us
Absolutely!
Congratulations Jennifer! I have been following your channel for approximately 3 years now:)
Jeff
Thank you so much for your continued support! It is very appreciated.
Congrats Jennifer ❤ God bless u. I pray I will be able to pay off my house in 7-10 years also. I just got my new house.
Congratulations!! 🎉 We are on track to do the same thing!! We are a little over 2 years in & have paid off 13 yrs of our 30 yr mortgage. Our goal is to hit that 5 yr mark and be DONE before our 5 yr mortgage renewal when I know rates will be way up… ⬆️ I’m in Canada 🇨🇦 so we generally renew every 5 years.
Woo hoo !! 🎉 Good going!! Boy, thats got to be a fabulous feeling! We put hefty extra towards the principle every month . We refinanced twice along the way & husband says that set us back. At least it's our only debt...& we are working on getting it paid. We're retired.
Congrats!!! 🎉
Our primary goal is currently in process... Build our home without taking out a loan! My husband is doing all the work himself, so we're saving a lot.
Second goal is to build passive income with our rental property and add more in the future.
