Woodturning Padauk with milliput inlay. This week I turn a Padauk blank that I picked up at my local Rockler store. I make a bowl and use milliput as an inlay around the side rim of the bowl.

Beautiful work. I have turned padauk once and really liked it. That thin layer of orange dust made the garage seem like Mars! Keep it up!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Patty, loved the bowl it was beautiful, the contrasting colours of the milluput and wood amazing. I shared it on my Churches Creative Prayer Cell that I am a member.

Sehr schön!
Mit dem Inlay wird dieses schlichte, doch elegante Stück
auf ein anderes Niveau gehoben. Echt gut! 👏🏻👍🏻

awesome bowl
Thank you!
That turned out really nice Peggy! I’m going to try my hand using the Milliput on a cherry vase I turned that developed a substantial crack. I’m going to use the Turquoise Blue. I’m hoping it works out.
Great idea! Good luck!
Great Bowl! I like the contrast of the colors in the milliput with the Padauk!
Thanks much!
Good afternoon Peggy, one of my favorite woods is Paduck. I have a cane made of wenge. Paduck is a really dense wood. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We have so much to be thankful for. GOD has blessed each of us greatly.
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you!
That sweater is a shavings magnet!! Nice work...
Thanks! Indeed it is! ;-)

Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Peggy, I love it!! Paduak is a favorite wood of mine. I like the milli putti effect, looks marbled. I will have to keep that in mind when I decide to turn. Great work!!
Thanks, Annette!
Peggy you absolutely out done yourself on this bowl just absolutely stunning, Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🍁
Thanks, Donald! Cheers!
Looks wonderful Mrs. Peggy as always you sure do make some beautiful pieces of Art Ma'am. Anyway God Bless and Seasons greetings from our family to yours on this wonderful Holiday
Thanks! Happy Holidays to you as well!
Peggy, that looks amazing. Nicely done! I've never turned Padauk, but it looks sweet! Cheers!
Thanks, David!!
Very nice
Thank you!
Beautiful piece, I do like the pattern in the Milliput, just looks right.
Thanks, David.
Another great bowl and good explanation of how you turn the project. I did try the milliput and it is messy but great effect on bowls. I see you need to tape your broken center finder🤣
Thanks. Yes on the center finder! :-)
Great bowl, Peggy! And I like the over-the-shoulder shot at 2:57 - really cool!
Thanks, Rick!
That is a beautiful bowl!!!!! Padauk is a beautiful wood and looks really nice in anything I've seen made with it.
I really liked that camera shot over your left shoulder, I don't believe I've ever seen a view from that angle before in any turning video and I think you can see a lot more then from looking from the tailstock end
Thanks! :-)
Beautiful bowl Peggy , I made an ash bowl with 2 lines of Milliput turquoise really like milliput. Nice turn thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family God Bless
Thanks, Gary! Cheers!
Hope Santa brings you a bowl saver for Christmas. I have used Milliput before and like it. Try JB Weld also . Same results but cheaper. Limited colors.
Thanks for the tip! Cheers!
Beautiful bowl, Peggy. That is a really nice piece of wood. I was hoping you would leave the rim wide and put another band on the top. I also liked the over the shoulder view you gave us.
Ha! The shoulder shot---! Thanks!
I just love Padauk I would use it more but as you said it cost a lot. Great job!!
Thank you!
👍👍👍✌✌Beautiful
Thanks very much ✌️
Craftswoman!!
Thanks!
This is one of the most beautiful wood essences that I have ever seen. Did you notice that it gets into a darker red as it dries up?
Thanks! No, I didn't notice, I'll have to go back and take a look, though. ;-)
Padauk is a beautiful wood, and if my memory is correct, it smells pretty good too when you work it. Unfortunately, it's dust can also be toxic to breathe. I hope you wore a respirator. Beautiful project!
Thanks....and yes on the respirator!
👍
Thanks!
Great combination of the blue and white on the padauk. Looks great!
Side note: will you consider increasing the sound volume? I have to turn my TV way up in order to hear what you're saying.
Thank you! Noted---will do!
Very nice. Did you have any issues with your laguna where spindle and headstock didn't align? Just got mine last week with that issue
Thanks. No, haven't had those issues with my Laguna---sorry that you did. Glad it's fixed!
Great video and work. I'm a newb. What is a bowl saver?
Thanks! A bowl saver cores out the bowl---so you can get 2 or 3 bowls from one blank.
@@PFWoodturning ahhhh, kind of like a coring tool...
Nice looking bowl never heard of milliput before? What is it?
Hi Jim. Milliput is a clay type material, when mixed together, it hardens and can be chiseled, turned, etc. There is a link in the video description if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece! Do you use the scotch brite pad as a clear or more of a final sanding grit?
I should add that I paused the video part way to make that comment... I’m referring to the first time you used it, before any paste or anything. I’m assuming you use it to apply paste the same way you would use steel wood to apply wax to a flat board project.
Yeah, the first one was to clear the surface, yes!
I’ll have to try that! I usually use 80psi or so of air 😇
Yeah, that's a good way too. I just don't have my air tank hooked up all the time. Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe! Cheers!
Already am!
Lovely job Peggy, do you get the milliput cheap, I thought you could you perhaps used too much, milliput in UK costs £5:00 !
I believe I pay around $11.00 USD a pack.
