In my opinion, easily the best installment in the series, and the only one I've bought. Stallone is fantastic in this movie, and as you rightly said Cody he knows how to deliver the groceries. I saw this at the cinema, and I was stunned by the ferocity of the final act. I took a lady friend to see it, and although she normally didn't like violent films she actually applauded at the end! Plus, she was so excited by it that I got laid......never a bad thing.

Interesting Fact: the guy who played the main villian in the movie, Maung Maung Khin was actually a former Karen rebel soldier who first joined the resistance in 1988 (which is ironically the same year Rambo 3 was released) and he spent years fighting on the front lines against the Burmese army, until he escaped to Thailand. He agreed to the role in order to raise awareness of the Genocide going on in Burma. However, once the movie was released the Burmese government banned the movie and even went as far as to imprison his family because of his role in the movie.
He was actually quoted of saying:
"After this film is released, I shall keep a low profile; because Burmese intelligence is everywhere, even in Thailand, and there could be some kind of retaliation. But I had to take the part. I want people to know what is actually going on here."

My only real problem with this one is that it feels like it's over almost as soon as it begins. The last ten minutes are closing credits over Rambo walking down a road heh. Awesome review as always Cody! I remember when this came out a lot of people having a problem with the gore and bloodiness of it all. But I loved Stallone's response to all that. In his commentary he said that's what happens when people get shot, especially with the large caliber weapons in this film. In real life, it's not like most action movies where people get shot and don't even fall down half the time. Especially with that 50 caliber at the end. People would literally be blown apart, exactly how it's portrayed. Can't wait for more reviews man! Keep it up!

I’ve only ever watched the 2010 Extended version. First time I saw the original 2008 version I felt it was kinda thin on character and Rambo was just an angry boatman. 2010 version vastly improved the character part. I guess it downplayed the violence some too? I’ve never found the EC hard to watch.
About the missionaries being kept alive, there were other captives from Burma alive in that camp too. For all we know they made them work or were trying to get a ransom for them. Perhaps they wanted to wait so that whoever they asked for ransom money would feel like they only had a day or two to decide. Seeing the missionaries with two weeks of ill treatment would be a lot more visually persuasive.
The character of Rambo felt consistent to me through the original four films. But they should have explained how he ended up back in Thailand living like this and why he developed the outlook that he had.
It’s almost the same place he is mentally and physically in Rambo 3. This movie works better as a direct sequel to Rambo 2. The character in Last Blood is not Rambo. I’ve always thought the same as Morrell about it. Might as well be John Smith. Rambo doesn’t walk into a crowd and let himself get beat. Unless this is dementia Rambo or something else showing a serious cognitive decline. More likely it was a generic action script and they just decided to tack the Rambo name on it.

The only thing that I do not like about this movie is the that the background situation was real...but that is neither Stallone's nor Rambo's fault. The violence against civilians is hard to watch, nothing gets sugar coated here and it gives justification to the carnage that follows when Rambo brings the hammer down on those suckers in the third act. This and "Last Blood" are my second favorite installments after "First Blood". "Rambo II" and "Rambo III" are also good, they would both make third place in my book.

It’s not even like the villains are so evil that they’re unrealistic, the things they do have happened multiple times in history, there’s the Nazis ethnic persecution and the one I think the movie took the most inspiration from is the Japanese Invasion of China and their subsequent war crimes, makes it all the more horrifying that the Burmese soldiers actions are entirely realistic.

    The negatives:
Well to respond to the first negative: That happens in Real Life. That happens in multiple countries. It happens in African countries, the middle east in general, india... Yeah, happens all over. It's notreally unheard of. All of that violence, and that FLAVOR of violence? It just happens. The movie is just portraying it and how it does happen.
The Second Negative: I see that, and yes, I agree with that. I think everyone who saw the movie also agree'd with that. The thing is, there are also people like that in the world, who will do that. And especially in America today, that mentality is a huge problem.
Third Negative: The logic issues. Same as the answer to the first negative. It happens alot. The world is pretty messed up. There's places where this kind of violence will happen and they'll just take whoever happens to be left after a raid and keep them for sadistic pleasures later. As you could see with the one guy, they were basically letting the pigs eat his legs while he was still alive. Boars and Pigs are known to eat basically anything, btw. It's a method of body disposal. But I suppose, now that you know about THAT particular part, it's a rather frightening aspect of torture. Imagine being conscious for the portion of it that you could remain conscious for, and watching in horror as your LEGS are EATEN before your very eyes, all while feeling the pain of every muscle and bone being chewed and crunched and torn away. It's.... Really terrifying.

Maybe because of how many times I've seen horror movies sell it as last of a series only to just make more, Freddy, Jason, and Jigsaw comes to mind, as for this next movie being last, I'm taking that as serious as wrestling retirement, maybe it would be the case, but not selling me on it being the last yet.

Easily my favorite of the series. Maybe I'm just a sick individual, but I actually CAN just throw this movie on at any time and enjoy the fuck out of it, probably specifically BECAUSE of how incredibly dark it is, and how it pulls no punches.

For violence the following can compete but cant top Rambo.
    We Were Soldiers
    Braveheart
    The Patriot
Other then those movies i cant think of any movies that can come close to the violence.

Have you ever seen the directors cut? The horrific violence is toned down just a tad but it has more and better dialogue in my opinion. I think it's the better version but that's just me.

Rambo (2007), good fourth installment. The other movies were indeed a lot less gory and violent than this fourth one.

16:40 they kept the missionaries most likely to trade to America for weapons or some resources they want. They did reach out to the church or someone to let them know where the missionaries were, so they were going to ransom them eventually. My question is how Julie Benze's character wasn't raped before Rambo got there. It took him time to get the news, prepare, and boat to where he needed go be..

American's would be held for ransom, although they didn't mention it. A lady I went to HS with seems to do missionary work in Burma and frequently posts FB pictures. People do go there, although I personally would say hell no.

Rambo is one of if not the most gory violent action films of all time...you said you have a hard time finding a more violent action film? Saving private ryan might have it beat but not by alot.

Hold up I did some math real quick 2019-2008=11, you said you were 18 when you saw RAMBO in theaters at the age of 18. 18+11=29 .... Are you only 29?!
